Shepherds hut holiday rentals in Lewes District

Three of us stayed for 2 nights in spring while the weather was cool. The sheperd's hut is one of 3 on site - well spaced - along with several lodges all located off a gravel drive and surrounded by a large expanse of grass bordered by shrubs. The site is accessed through a substantial wooden electric gate from the main road - which makes for a very secure setting. Plus points: * well equipped - including good quality knives (in wooden block) & 2 ring induction hob * very well insulated (warm & quiet) * easy walk from Hassocks station * lovely walk to Jack & Jill windmills at top of the Downs * attractive site * remote key fob for electric gate * fresh flowers, organic tea * large towels, nice linen * good WiFi Other things: * Quite a lot of road noise from A273 during busy periods daytime * If you are over 6' tall and plan to use a single bed thene expect your feet to stick out uncovered, as the banquette & duvet are short. I would definitely stay again.

Loved the authentic eco credentials - plastic free toiletries, washing up cloth, eco friendly products. The shepherds hut was real cosy and comfy. Bore place is a wonderful spot with far more nature than I would have expected in the southeast! Chris was super friendly and helpful and this was a fabulous stay.

Beautiful little shepherd's hut in a lovely area - a perfect countryside getaway for the weekend (or longer). Huts were clean and really well insulated - would stay cozy in all weathers. Kellie was the perfect host and really helpful - would highly recommend!

molly dishwasher is in an absolutely stunning location the pictures don't do justice to how stunning this place is your surrounded by the most beautiful views in the most peaceful location, me and my family had the most amazing 2 nights staying here and the little personal touches added on top just make it that much more special, moppy is an amazing host and let the boys help feed the animals on the last night which they absolutely loved, there is another hut on site but you cant see them so you have amazing privacy. I can see why lots of people who stay here are on there 7th visit as its a place you'll want to re visit after staying. we will defiantly be back soon, thank you for an amazing stay.

My husband and I had a great stay at the Shepherds Hut. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, and relaxed with a nice Barbeque ( which was provided!). The highlight was lighting the fire pit in the evening and huddling around the flames. Kellie was super helpful, and the kitchen/ bathroom had everything we needed. We would love to come back!

I would recommend skylark to anyone looking for some peace. I went alone. I felt completely safe. I knew the farm house was close by but I also had complete privacy so i was able to fully relax. Having the fire pit was wonderful. I used it every evening and sat under the stars. I loved having my own kitchen and bathroom. Moppy was always responsive. I needed more logs and they arrived promptly. She left plenty of food in the fridge. Eggs. Bacon. Sausages. Croissant. Muesli.Milk. Butter. Good coffee etc. I didn't want fro anything at all. Moppy even took me to the train station on my return. A lovely woman and a lovely family.Thanks, Moppy

Had a great weekend. The hut is set in a quiet meadow with nice views over the countryside. The hut is cosy with a surprisingly well-stocked kitchen and a compost toilet that amazingly doesn’t smell at all! The hot outdoor shower is a few steps away the hut and is a nice touch. Indoor showers just down the hill along with fridges and charging points (USB plugs available in the hut). Bore Place is interesting and worth exploring and you can buy fresh milk and cheese produced on site from the cows. An abundance of bird life so bring binoculars. The glamping seems popular with young families so if you want complete privacy, peace and quiet then this might not be the place for you. Very good value compared with other Shepherd’s huts.

What a beautiful cabin/shepherds hut and location. I booked a solo weekend getaway and travelled by train from London, getting a taxi from Woking. All easy. Hosts came to say hello and were super friendly and welcoming. I went on a couple of nice walks but could have easily hung around the cabin all weekend. Perfect for solo getaway or as a couple. Myself and my partner had a lovely weekend stay at The Sheep Fold. Kate and her daughter, Jessa, were very friendly, welcoming and gave us some good recommendations for things to do in the area. The hut itself is located about a 5 minute walk from their main property, which gives it a very private, remote feel. Even though the hut itself is quite cosy, it had all the facilities we needed and more. There are woods and fields that surround the property which you can explore, and we were lucky enough to see rabbits and a variety of birds in the mornings. Overall, this a great place to come if you're looking for a peaceful, rural stay, but equally a good base for exploring local castles, watersports, pubs, etc.

Nina was a wonderful host, and the cabin is cosy and gorgeous. The garden is completely private and enclosed - perfect for dogs. There was nowhere for the dog to escape. Great to be able to light a fire, felt like posh, warm glamping. Great facilities, including a gas hob, fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave.

Bluebell shepherds’ hut was lovely. Exactly like the photos with a great outdoor space. Perfect for glamping and enjoying the outdoors with comfort. Maddy the cocker spaniel was a highlight! There were a lot of walking paths nearby and you could quickly feel like you were fully in nature. We were initially wary of the outdoor shower but there was plenty of hot water, privacy and it was easy to use.

we had a wonderful stay here for my boyfriends birthday. the hut is even better than the pictures / described, and the extra touches of breakfast and a food shop on arrival made coming via train from London feel so seamless and relaxing, with everything you need waiting for you at the hut. huge thank you again to Vicki and Miles. can't recommend this place enough!

Perfect cabin in the woods! We loved it, Lucy was an excellent host - very helpful and kind. The place had everything we needed, in a beautiful spot surrounded by bluebells. It was a great location for local hikes. Excellent spot for a relaxing weekend!

Me and my partner loved our stay! Tracey was really helpful and very kind - she brought us fresh breakfast every day! For sure worth a visit if you want a peaceful weekend!

This place takes glamping to a whole new level - power, wifi, constant hot water, the cosiest bed and duvet ❤️ and warms up quickly with the wood burner. Tenterden is 10 Mins max in the car, as is a selection of pubs and 2 mins walk to a brewery. We also found Tesco and Waitrose nearby for one evening in for an oven meal. Already recommended this place to friends for an idllylic few days away

Located in a lovely area. Lots to see and do if you venture out. Very relaxing if you choose to stay on site. The king size bed was a little creaky and a couple of the utensils in outdoor kitchen area could use replacing as well as the fire pit but we will definitely be back. Overall we had a lovely stay. We have already recommended Cedar Grove to friends and family. The fresh farm milk was really tasty! Would have been an added bonus if provided every morning. But overall defo 4.6 out of 5. Miss the hens already….

We had an amazing time staying in Graffham. The location is perfect with lots of marked public footpaths on site to explore and the farm itself is also lovely. There were horses and lambs right outside our door! The Shepard’s hut is cosy and romantic inside, and the bed is extremely soft and comfortable. Although it’s small, the space is used very efficiently. We loved the outdoor area which was enclosed for our dog, and we also enjoyed using the fire pit and looking out over the fields. I couldn’t recommend this accommodation highly enough. Although we had no reason to contact the host throughout our stay, there was lots of information about the hut and local area left for us in a booklet.

John and Joan were amazing hosts. John has the hottub to perfect temp for when we arrived and came back in the morning to restart it for the day ahead. Even when we had no charcoal and was on the way to buy some John gave us some of his to save the trip. Very helpful and lovely people. The hut was lovely and private with beautiful surroundings, can't fault it and would definitely recommend.

Kim made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, went above and beyond preheating the hot tub for our arrival which was incredible and helped us have a wonderful weekend to switch off from London life. Couldn’t recommend enough!

Gigi is the best Shepherd’s Hut we have stayed in by far! My boyfriend and I have stayed in 5 huts so far, and Fiona had been the BEST host we have come across. She really is the Hostess with the Mostess! She has thought about absolutely everything, from breakfast goodies to toiletries, she really has nailed it. The views of this shepherd’s hut are nothing short of beautiful. We were so lucky to catch the cows in the field directly in front who provide endless entertainment, and donkeys to the right. This really is the best of both worlds. We made the absolute most of the lovely firepit too. Fiona, you are hands down the best host we have come across. Anyone thinking about staying here will not be let down.

This little cabin was the highlight of my month, the area was absolutely gorgeous felt very secluded but was still able to order uber eats and the closest pub was only about a 5 minute drive. the view was beautiful, the directions and instructions from Matthew was very helpful, going into extreme detail including maps of where a perfect walk would be. This place felt like the perfect getaway!

Emma was great . Although we didn't have face to face contact ( none needed) she was very quick to respond to our few queries about the local area via messaging.

We have just got home after an absolutely wonderful weekend in the shepherds hut at Lycia and Michael’s. Perfectly placed for walking into Goodwood but I will be looking for an excuse to come back and stay again. All the extra touches just made it even more special. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Such a beautiful retreat - the location is simply stunning and completely quiet and away from any road noise. Hannah was always quick to respond, and the hut has everything you could need for a cozy night in. The garden was perfect for our (huge) dog too!
