Orchard Hut is a secluded and very private shepherd's hut, situated in a gloriously peaceful meadow setting, with views to the South Downs. Situated well away from any main roads, the hut sits just outside the South Downs National Park, 5 miles from Lewes, 12 miles to Brighton and 5 miles to Glyndebourne. Orchard Hut is fitted with hot and cold mains water, full electrics, a log burner, firepit, queen size bed, electric hob, kettle, toaster, under counter fridge, power shower and compost toilet.
“A lovely hut that is made extra special by its very secluded location. The hosts' house sits behind the hut, close enough to help if needed but far enough away for you to feel totally alone with the sheep, pheasants and occasional rambler at the bottom of the field. We have stayed in a number of huts and this one is wider than most which makes it feel very spacious. We visited on a very wet and windy autumn weekend and the efficient multi fuel burner kept the hut warm and cosy. The hut is well insulated and the hosts provides a small plug in radiator which is great for keeping the chill off during the night or in the morning if you can't be bothered to get the fire going again. The living space feels spacious and we loved the minimalist rustic theme of the hut. No TV and no WiFi. The bed is absolutely divine ... a big feathery nest that you sink into and simply don't want to get out of! The bathroom is very adequate and the shower deserves a special mention, loved the design and seemingly endless supply of piping hot water. The hut has a composting toilet which we found to be efficient and easy to use. Kitchen has all that you need for a few days and the supplied tea, coffee, porridge, muesli, bread and jam is a nice touch. Great communication from Ben throughout and he had the fire lit in time for our arrival. Great walks right from the door and good pub for food a 5 minute drive away. All in all, a perfect hut for a peaceful and relaxing getaway.”

“I rarely give a place 5 stars but in this case it was valid. We went for the bondfire Festival in Lewes and they were helpful throughout it all from calling days before to lifts and advice. As for the place it's got everything you might need ...fast internet, quiet street, fully furnished with all the small details you may need, black out curtains etc even for non bondfire visits it's splendid.”

“We came here for a mini Christmas break before the big day and couldn’t have been happier with our stay! Instructions on how to get there were clear (it’s very rural!), and place itself was spacious, spotless and bright! Hailey was a lovely host who was happy to let us settle in once we knew the basics, but was on the end of the phone should we have needed her and checked in on us by text throughout our stay - she also provided us with a great tip for going to the Wakehurst Glow Wild event which we loved! The kitchen was very well equipped, which was important to us as we wanted to cook a mini Christmas dinner and we were able to with ease - plus the fresh eggs from the farm she gifted us were incredible and really the cherry on top of this amazing stay!”
