We live in the house north of the barn and will be mostly available to help with local knowledge of trips, attractions and restaurant recommendations. Our local inn The Yew Tree is most welcoming and offers our local ale "Harveys" as well as many of the local artisan brews such as Longman. The house is a three-minute walk from the village store offering homemade foods and local produce, as well as a cafe. The beaches at Seaford and Newhaven are a 15-minute drive away. The airport LGW London Gatwick is a 45 minute drive away, LHR London Heathrow 1hr 15 minutes approx. The public transport is limited and we would recommend you use a taxi if you do not have a car. The barn has extensive views, including the bedroom which has a wonderful view across the gardens. The barn adjoins a large green field which is grown for meadow hay. The sunsets behind the ancient saxon burial mound known as Mount Caburn. The burning sky sunsets are the best!

Snug Victorian Cottage in Heart of Alfriston Village

My house has been described as light and "cosy". It is filled with books, art and interesting things - it is very much a home from home, and not a holiday let. In the winter there is a log burner, in the summer a sunny flint walled garden. Nestled within the South Downs National Park this medieval village has independent and quirky shops, lots of choices of where to eat. Walks to enjoy - nearby is the sea, forest, vineyards, Downs or riverside. London 2 hours by car, 90 mins by train.
