We absolutely loved our time at Jacque’s cabin. It is tucked away in a quiet yet accessible spot that was the perfect home base for having some adventures in the nearby redwoods and Mendocino and Humboldt coasts! Everything was so comfortable and well equipped and the yard was so great for our dog. This was our “baby-moon” trip, but they had such a fantastic set up for kids, I really want to come back here after our child is born! Thank you for letting us spend time in your charming log cabin.

This is one of the most beautiful places we’ve stayed in. Pictures don’t do it justice! The house and grounds had so much to offer we “stayed in” the entire weekend. Our host was wonderful and we’d love to come back in the summer to enjoy this property even more.

My favorite south Humboldt getaway! The creek, the hot tub, comfy beds and the adjacent state redwood grove made this place an exceptional stay! Already planning our return! Key tip- use the pull offs when you’re going thru the grove on the way to the property and hike down and around some impressive old growth. No crowds and I saw 2 bald eagles ! Magical ! We loved the quiet serenity of Sara's place. The acorn woodpeckers were out in the trees to greet us in the morning and the views from the deck were of misty mountains and ancient trees. The space was beautifully appointed and comfortable, with all the utensils and cooking needs we could require. Sara greeted us in person to show us around and ensure that we had a good stay. I would definitely come back to this haven.

One of the most beautiful places in California—and maybe even on Earth. This was an absolutely astounding weekend. It’s my second time in Shelter Cove, and I brought my family from abroad just to experience it. The beauty here is beyond words. The property itself is in a spectacular location—perched above the black sand beaches, high enough to stay dry and peaceful, yet close enough to feel connected to the ocean. The views are breathtaking, and the house is incredibly comfortable and spacious, perfect for a large group. Can’t recommend this place enough and I absolutely can’t wait to come back.

Modern Humboldt Retreat w/ Sauna & Redwood Hot Tub

If cozy were a place, it’d be this spot in Garberville. Safe, peaceful, and super inviting. The outdoor space is a whole vibe—multiple seating areas, a hot tub and sauna that made chilly nights feel dreamy, and even a juicer in the fully stocked kitchen (because why not make fresh juice in the forest?). Despite being dog and 420 friendly, it was spotless—way cleaner than many “no pets” stays. We loved the extra blankets and towels, especially for foggy mornings and hot tub dips. The house heats up fast, and the grocery store is just minutes away. Our pup loved the yard, but be warned: furry friends will get moist from that classic Humboldt dew. Also, major bonus points for the thoughtfulness that went into every detail—from cozy lighting to clear instructions. We felt right at home and can’t wait to return. Whether you’re soaking, sipping, cooking, or just stargazing, this place has it all. 10/10. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Shelter Cove is a hidden gem in California & this house is the BEST way to enjoy it. The house is directly on the ocean! The views from the living room, kitchen & my bed room were absolutely spectacular. The house was so clean. The sofas were super comfortable. The downstairs bathroom has a huge tub & the water gets really hot. Multiple beaches within walking distance & lots of sea lions near the lighthouse! Mario's bar & restaurant is also walkable and we met so many kind locals there who told us a lot about Shelter Cove. We saw deer grazing the grass all over town everyday. There's even a shower in the garage you can use after going to the ocean before entering the house. The host's were so kind to leave us a complimentary bottle of local wine & a nice note for us upon entering the house. We had such a great stay here and will definitely be coming back in the future. We were so lucky to find this place. Thanks Todd for letting us stay at your beautiful home!

We stayed two nights and everything was great! The place was spacious and comfy with a well equipped kitchen, great shower and a really good bed. It was the perfect jumping off place for us to go hiking in the state forest. There were even beach towels that came in super handy for a cold plunge in the river! Thanks for an awesome stay!

My experience definitely exceeded expectations! Excellent kitchen with all of the cooking amenities I needed (including an outdoor propane grill)! Marcedes was very responsive to all of my questions before and after check-in, she was very friendly and set up the grill for us before we arrived. The home itself is beautiful and cozy (there were even some toys and books for my toddler!). My only flag is that there is no wifi. This was fine for us because the cell service is good in the area, but may be a challenge for those planning to use wifi. I would definitely stay here again!

Theresa's place is an absolute gem of heavenly serenity! Located in the magical yet sleepy coastal hamlet of Shelter Cove, this is one of those rare accommodations, memories of which will last a life time. Theresa's studio is charmingly quaint and it will welcome you just as described. She's a great communicator and a very resourceful person when it comes to information about the local community as well as the redwood parks nearby. To top it off, the view of the Pacific (which is at a distance though) from the patio is just incredible. The kitchen was well stocked and the bathroom was squeaky clean and the studio was decked with just the right kind of furniture that you need to spend the weekend. 100% recommended, we will definitely visit again.

This was our second stay at Delmar's home and we plan to stay again next year. That should sum up our satisfaction with our experience. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the private planes taking off and landing. It's an easy walk to the Gyppo Ale Mill, the light house and the extensive tide pools below. The home is well appointed, comfortable and sparkling clean.

This might be the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed at, and I have stayed at a lot. If you have a deep love of the redwoods and seek solitude and true peace in nature, you will not find a better place. There are 2 giant redwood trees right next to the home and some lovely outside space to relax in. The location is extremely quiet and private and is literally in the forest. The house itself is beautiful and very comfortable with a great heating system for chilly mornings. Pearl was a great host and very helpful and responsive. Thank you!

Sauna was wonderful, hot tub was very pleasant, especially with the full moon coming down on you. Shelter cove is just a wonderful and relaxing location. The area speaks for itself, but the experience was elevated with the amenities provided here.

Loved our stay at Shelter Cove, the views were unbeatable and it was also a great night for stargazing. We enjoyed the balcony and the jacuzzi in the living room that looked out into the ocean. Everything was incredible comfortable, we would definitely stay here again.
