Welcome to the Old Stables, a beautiful and stylish barn conversion near Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight. This property was originally part of the Farringford Estate owned by Lord Tennyson, the world renown poet. Nestling at the foot of the downs the property is located up a private lane in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is within easy walking distance of Freshwater Bay - the local beach - nearby shops, a superb cafe/bar and friendly pub.
The spacious accommodation, which enjoys views over the neighbouring fields and beautiful countryside, consists of an open plan Living Room/kitchen with a woodburning stove (together with initial supply of logs and kindling) a sofa bed suitable for children/extra guests (please note additional prices apply, see below) - a cosy Double Bedroom with its own en-suite shower room plus an additional separate shower room/toilet. A well equipped Kitchen with a full size cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, a good range of pots, pans and cooking equipment plus plenty of work space and cupboards makes it ideal for those who wish to cater for themselves - please note there is no dishwasher. A selection of teas and coffee and a small bottle of local milk are provided to make a drink when you first arrive. Good WiFi, a full size TV with Netflix and a selection of board games and books will ensure you are kept entertained should you wish to stay in. Covid 19 We know our guests really appreciate that we keep the property very clean. Since Covid 19 we have put in extra measures to minimise the risk of infection. Please ask us for our information sheet and the choices that we can provide.
The Old Stables is within 10 minutes walking distance of Orchards - a local village shop that has been established for 150 years and stocks a good range of groceries, newspapers and everyday items. There is also a good sized Co-op supermarket and other shops within a 5 minute drive. If you’d rather have your groceries delivered whilst you’re staying Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrison’s and Asda all offer a delivery service.
  • Zena and Phil were very welcoming hosts and on hand if we had any questions. Pictures did not do this converted barn justices. A really lovely place in a beautiful spot that felt remote without being in the middle of nowhere. Would stay again

  • Highly recommend, beautiful location, we didn't want to use the car and we didn't need to, great for our dog. The cottage is clean, comfortable and idyllic, we will definitely be returning

  • The most beautiful converted barn in a stunning location. Footpaths and pubs right on your doorstep and beautiful views across the downs. The barn is extremely clean and spacious with all the facilities and more that you could need. Home from home feeling to it. Couldn’t recommend more.

  • Brilliant hosts and a lovely place. They were really flexible and quick to respond to any queries I had. Thank you!

  • Beautiful place to stay. Inside and out. We felt right at home. Lovely hosts with great tips for places to visit.

    Dan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This Air BnB was amazing! Every inch of the building was immaculate and surpassed every expectation I had. Zena left perfect instructions of how to find the place and the folder that was inside had every bit of information about the area of freshwater and the Isle of Wight. My girlfriend and I will definitely be booking again as soon as we can! It is PERFECT!

    Adam2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Zena and Phil are excellent hosts. Their venue is beautiful, their hospitality was excellent and comforting and their communication was impeccable. The barn was extremely clean and stocked with everything we needed, including logs for their log burner (which was perfect to have burning during Storm Dennis) the stay was wonderful and you could say the only thing wrong with the weekend was the weather. I highly recommend anyone to stay at Zena and Phil’s barn and will be more than likely to return myself in the future.

Our quirky studio is situated just a few minutes walk from the beautiful Freshwater Bay. It's ideal as a base for walker's, festival goers or people who just want to get away from all. With its own private courtyard you can come and go as you please.
Lots of recycled and beachcombed materials went into the building of this studio.
The locals are really friendly and most meet at freshwater bay on a Friday as the pizza van cooks beautiful stone baked pizzas. Remember to take some wine! The local mezze cafe is really popular with locals and tourists alike. There is a really old fashioned corner shop just up the road which has been open 150years! Dimbola gallery and cafe is also two minutes down the road and Tennyson house is a short walk away passing the beautiful thatched St. Agnes church.
  • The place so clean and good location

  • We were only staying in Freshwater for one evening and Jason’s place was absolutely perfect! You have your own entrance, a great little space and your own bathroom. Everything we needed!

    Luke2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jason's studio was very comfortable and in a great location

    Robert2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little studio, really well built and decorated. Super cosy and has every thing you need. Genuinely fab place.

    Matthew2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Sea Salt Studio! Freshwater Bay is a lovely gem on the Isle of Wight, really calm and beautiful! We slept so well in the studio, it was really cosy with a beautiful bathroom and a lovely space to make our own for a short visit. We had a fun evening at the hip restaurant round the corner on our last night and enjoyed the tranquility of the place out of season! We got the ferry to Yarmouth and then cycled down to Freshwater - it was idyllic. We look forward to coming back when there’s a little less wind and a little more sun!

    Alexander & Camille2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great cosy place, I booked last minute and as there is a private and external access to the room I didn't get to meet Jason but he responded immediately and the place was waiting for me, clean and comfy, easy to find even in the night. I'd warmly recommend it.

    Elsa2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely quiet night away in the sea salt studio. Hosts were very friendly and provide a beautiful little space with lots of homely touches. Its a really nice area in freshwater and there's a cafe just around the corner for a perfect way to end the trip. Thank you very much for having us, we'd love to come back !

    Caitlin2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Jason's place is far better in reality than even the nice photos can show. It is cozy with lots of beautiful decor and everything you may need (dishes, cutlery, dish washing soap, a mending kit, local info, etc.). I highly recommend it! :)

Afton Thatch Lodge is a small thatched cottage in a beautiful rural location in Freshwater. Walks out the door. Open plan style, with light-filled master bedroom on the first floor. Views over the downs and estuary plus an ensuite bathroom.
Small open-plan thatched cottage best suited to a couple, but downstairs day bed and sofa bed can be made up to accommodate children or guests. There is one small double sofa bed, and one 'over-under' type bed, so technically could sleep up to four more people, but it's a small space! The kitchen has two burners and a microwave-oven combo, but not a full size oven.
  • Really is the perfect getaway. Everything as advertised and I cannot really add anything that hasn’t already been said in past reviews! Beautiful views, cosy and warm, well kept, secluded, private. All what we needed. Thanks a million x

    Jessica2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • I would highly recommend Emma’s place for a visit to the Isle of Wight. It’s a fantastic place that was spotless and had great little additions like milk, tea etc. There was a fantastic book about where to eat and where to visit. Emma was great and even walked to meet us when I got lost (I’m a nightmare). Would 100% recommend.

The room is in a house based in Newport on the Isle of Wight close to a shop. Space is small but has what you need. It is highly suitable for short stay guests such as cyclists, walkers and explorers. It`s designed for guests who want a roof over their heads with some comfort. It has on-suit facilities and is self-contained...There is a bunk bed so two people can stay, but it is really only suitable for one..... Please contact me before booking if you are not sure about the place.
My self contained bolt hole is suitable for a solo traveller: e.g Cyclist, Ramblers, Island Explorers, Sportsperson and guests who are not looking for the Ritz, but a small place to sleep, cook and watch TV and not cost too much. The room is small. It`s not luxurious, but comfortable. It`s suitable for a younger person.
The house and room are located in a built up neighbourhood. There is a narrow driveway and garden where you can sit at a picnic bench. The washing machine and dryer are outside with pay meter. Takes 20p coins (used to take pound coins, but won`t accept the new £1 coin ) The room has an electric meter that takes pound coins. even the new £1 coin.
  • David is a kind person. I am a young single female traveler and he was concerned about my safety which most Airbnb hosts do not care at all. They just want your money. He knew my situation and went above and beyond as any decent human being should do but most don’t. So kudos to him for that. The price is low bcz it is like staying in a very bare minimum necessities place.. So don’t expect a palace. I personally am one who prefers living minimalist.

    Jessica2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent value for money with local amenities, shop and very good chip shop two minutes walk. Shops, cinema, food outlets 5-10 minutes away plus bus station. Washing machine & drier in a lean to. Don't expect the Hilton, this is a great place to stay in a very quiet road. I will be staying again at some point.

    Peter2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay.David os an excellent host.I keep on going back.

  • Thank you for being a great host.I'll definitely come back.

    Uche2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice owner and perfect place and very cheap. You have all you need! I’ll go there again next time I am in Newport for sure.

    Selim2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second stay at David’s place and it won’t be my last. I love it so much. I’m a cyclist and it’s perfect. The weather was a bit cooler so I had the heater on, it was not expensive to run. The facilities are great, you can cook modestly. The co-op is just down the road as is the fish and chip shop. The location is quiet and safe and well lit. There is secure bike storage in the shed. Also a covered area, which is perfect if it’s raining to load and unload the bike. The room is very comfortable and large with everything you could could possibly need for a holiday. David is s great host, why he isn’t a superhost I really don’t know. He is very quick to respond and is a great problem solver. You feel he is invested in you having a great holiday. It’s such good value for money. Having en suite facilities is such a bonus. It’s a great budget holiday option. It means I can visit the fabulous Isle of Wight more frequently, for which I am very grateful to David. Thanks

Little Wing is a beautifully converted studio apartment located in stunning countryside on the Isle of Wight. The open plan contemporary design is perfect for couples looking for a quiet retreat. Chillerton is ideally located to explore the whole island; stunning walks across fields and farms to The Chequers Pub (45 mins) in Rookley and the Crown in Shorwell (1 hour) mountain bike trails over The Downs or the cycle track and only a short drive from a choice of our best beaches.
Ella, Toby and wilf welcome you to Isle of Wight and to 'Little Wing' Chillerton is a small village and although it hasn't got its own pub it's community come together regularly for local events such as ale nights, folk nights, reading room talks and evenings, Saturday market, the annual Village show and monthly quiz evenings. Newport, the main county town, with local as well as well known shops and supermarkets is a 6 minute drive away. Fox and Hounds Cottage was once a smallholding providing provisions for the village. Cows were milked in The Cow Shed (now Little Wing) by Toby's great uncle Harold who lived next door at Glencoe Cottages and our dear neighbour Hilton Taylor who only recently passed away. We have tried to preserve the building as it was intended, a working shed in a working community and looking at old photographs you can see nothing much has changed from the outside. Inside we hope we have provided a little bit of unexpected contemporary comfort and character and a wonderful base for you to explore our beautiful island Our families have lived and worked on the island for generations and we will always be excited to share our knowledge of quiet unspoiled beaches and beauty spots, lively pubs, local attractions and events, music and live entertainment or exquisite places to eat.
Our Village is set in an AONB. and is a rural farming community, Barn Owls quarter the field opposite at dusk and country foxes and Badgers are often out at night.
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Littlewing, a beautiful property in a lovely location, sparkling clean and had everything we needed, extra bonus was the Netflix :) we enjoyed watching films in the evenings, would highly recommend this property to anyone considering it.

Dear guests, during the government restrictions on travel and social distancing, we can only take bookings from NHS and key workers travelling to the Isle of Wight. We look forward to returning to normal soon. Stay safe everyone and keep well. The apartment is fully furnished and ready for self catering holidays long or short stays. Private courtyard and the access is to the apartment is also private. Ideal for couples and plus 1 or singles.
Located only a short stroll from stunning Freshwater Bay and at the base of Tennyson downs. This ground floor basement apartment was fully refurbished to a high standard and finished January 2017, it has a secure garden with a small courtyard and is designed for self catering. The kitchen is fully fitted with oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer-dryer, microwave, kettle, toaster and all utensils (ask if we have forgotten anything) The shower room is quite small and fitted with shower, toilet and sink. The bedroom lounge has a double bed, double futon, TV, hanging space and a small dining table. Wifi is available. You will also find an ironing board, iron, some games and books so you may enjoy your stay should the weather keep you in. Thanks
Freshwater Bay and surrounding area is quaint, quiet, has great walks, great beaches, coastline and amazing views. Often on a summers day you will find the locals having BBQs at the beach near the boat house. Freshwater Bay also hosts a renowned golf course open to non members. Be sure to take a trip to the Needles and Alum Bay. If you fancy a night out Yarmouth is easily accessible by bus and has a number of pubs, restaurants and historic buildings. Locally you will find a number of quaint cafes ( 'The Piano'), shops and tea rooms ('Dimbola Lodge') and nearby the town of Freshwater hosts a number of supermarkets, leisure centre, doctors and curiosity shops (' Mrs Middleton's'). The walks of the West Wight take you on a journey through stunning coastline, estuary's, ancient trails and places of interest.
  • Fantastic property, really nice, lovely and clean. The host was really helpful, will definitely stay here again.

  • It was my first time to the Isle of Wight and simply loved the views and the long walks. Allie's place was a lovely hobbit home. It is walk able distance from the west side of the island and very self contained. You can go for long coastal walks or just laze around the town. One wouldn't regret choosing this place or visiting the Isle of Wight!

We are situated on the North coast of the Island, within 5 mins of both major car ferries, it is really easy to get to by car, taxi or by bike, and we have plenty of parking, and safe places to put your bikes. We are in a great location on the edge of the village of Wootton, where there are shops - mini Tesco, pharmacy, petrol, Majestic, etc ! It is just 3 mins drive to the High Street. We are also only about a 7 min drive down to East Cowes, where there is a Waitrose. And 4 mins from a lovely farmshop with cafe/restaurant. So you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere - in lovely rural peace and quiet - but you are really not far from civilisation at all ! And it's a great starting point for visiting places all over the Island , where there is a huge variety of things to do for all ages and preferences ! We can send you our special recommendations of 'Things To do' and great restaurants to try .
  • As interesting as it sounds, and everything in very good condition. Really comfortable bed, and a very cosy living room with the fire. We were well looked after. A very pleasant long weekend.

  • Amazing place to stay 😊 Would recommend the place anytime. Great for a sweet little break. Fiona and her husband have been really nice including the the dog Tessa 🙂 Great place to start bicycle trips as well round the Isle of Wight 😊

  • The Treehouse is a really magical place to stay- especially if you have kids. It was a cosy, comfortable and well appointed place - it had everything we needed and more. Fiona gave us a warm welcome and so much helpful information about the island. It was an unforgettable place to stay- especially having the gentle sway of the treehouse rock us to sleep each night.

    Claire2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • My 5 friends and I had such a great stay at this amazing place. The beds were very comfy after chilling in the main space with a wood burner going and some glasses of red wine. An Outdoor bbq, table tennis and games means there is plenty to keep yourselves entertained in a peaceful part of the IOWight. Only a 5-10min drive from the ferry if you head to Fishbourne which was great. Fiona was a fab host! 5 stars!

  • Amazing, we spent Xmas in the tree house, well worth every penny!

    Kate2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful unique place to stay. Everything from the lovely lit walk through the woods to the swing underneath and the secret room made this place so wonderful. Highly recommend.

    Aimee2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse is fantastic. A unique experience, for sure. It rocks you to sleep at night, which is just so lovely and there’s ping pong to be had, if you fancy it too. Mr 11 was absolutely delighted by all of it. Only wish we could have stayed longer. We’ll be back for sure 😊 Thank you

Comfortable , cozy, quiet Carisbrooke village house. Close to walking & cycle paths, Tennyson trail & many more. Off road parking & bike storage, private garden, sun deck. Ideal base for exploring the Island. Sleeps 5 /6, 2 double bedrooms & sofa bed. Wood burning stove & open fire, fuel provided. Smart TV with Netflix, robes & tea/coffee provided. Short drive to the Island's best beaches. Enquire for 1 night stays (possible with cleaning fee) Discount for solo stays, please enquire.
The house is terraced, with 2 bedrooms, separate dining room and front room, a well equipped kitchen and large bathroom with separate bath and large walk in corner shower. There's also a private garden with a summer house that has a sun deck to relax on - cushions and chairs provided. The house is on a no through road, so noise and traffic is minimal. It's a very safe environment, with extremely low crime rates. You can hear the local ( and very historic) church bells on a Friday evening ( their practice time) and Sunday morning. Being a quiet village, it's probably not the place to throw wild all night parties, but that said there are 2 decent pubs, that both do food, and one has live music most weekends. There's also 2 nice restaurants in the village, an Italian and ADA, a mezze restaurant.
Carisbrooke used to be the Isle of Wight's County town. Now it's a quiet village over looked by Carisbrooke Castle ( well worth a visit). Carisbrooke is surrounded by beautiful walks ranging from easy strolls to full on day treks. The village boasts 2 pubs , 2 restaurants and a shop/ post office. It's location near the centre of the Island means that it's very easy to get anywhere - it is well served by buses and some of the Island's best beaches are just a 10 minute drive away.
  • Kim’s home is in a great location near Newport, in the historic area of Carisbrooke. Great kitchen and gorgeous bathroom. Kim left ample towels for everyone, hotel style toiletries and having her food cupboard still partially stocked helped so much when self catering. The street and parking are a bit narrow, just like the Island, but we navigated it with a little care. Kim was very helpful and responded very quickly. Highly recommend this property.

    Sharon2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kim’s place was great for us, super convenient and everything was as expected. Great value and easy to organise and deal with. Would happily stay again.

    Paddy2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, perfect location and plenty of rooms for larger groups. Highly recommended !

    Ross2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Kim’s house is located up a hill in a little village about 10mins by bus from Newport. The house is nicely decorated with a modern bathroom and kitchen and stylish bedrooms. The beds are so comfortable, we slept really well. Kim is a lovely person, so helpful through out all of her communications and in person too, she couldn’t be nicer. I would like to mention that my mum has breathing difficulties so she struggled going up Kim’s steep stairs. I would also note that although we had complete access to the house for the duration of our stay, Kim lives in the house when she doesn’t have guests so there are personal items stored throughout the house. If this isn’t an issue for other potential guests, I couldn’t recommend Kim and her home enough.

    Karen2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Kim's home was really lovely. Was right in the middle of the island making it super easy to drive everywhere! House was clean and rooms were comfortable! Kim was also super helpful in finding us a place for breakfast during the Isle of Wight Garlic Festival weekend! All in all, a great place to stay and highly recommended.

    Joshua2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and kids had a lovely, comfortable stay and Kim's house. The house is really well located for visiting the island, walking distance to Carisbrook Castle, 15 mins drive to our favourite beach at Compton bay, many other attractions only a short drive away. Kim was very easy to communicate with, and attentive to if we needed anything (we didn't). My kids appreciated the wifi and netflix. I appreciated the dishwasher and washing machine. Very much a home from home.

    Rosalind2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • A group of 4 friends stayed at Kim’s for one night . We had come to visit friends on island so didn’t need transport so can’t comment on how easy to get to without car or location without a car but it was perfect for the 4 of us . Sofa bed in lounge comfy . Kim has left tea coffee and milk and toiletries and towels on bed . Perhaps just us not having done air bnb before but didn’t realise Kim lives there between her let’s and her stuff is in all of the cupboards even down to food leftovers in fridge but for one night it was perfect and I would stay again and recommend for price . Thank you Kim

    Linda2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Kim’s place is accurately described as on her profile. As well as a lock box system to allow easy access, which was great for me not knowing an accurate arrival home. The house is clean and well presented with lots of thoughtful touches throughout. Such as towels, some nice welcome bathroom washes, robes and bored-games. All of this is way above and beyond especially for the price. I would highly recommend staying here.

Shanklin Manor dates back to the Doomsday Book and has previously been a house and farm, being the home to the various Lords of the Shanklin Manor for many years. It was purchased by the local council in the early 20th century, with much of the land put into public ownership, such as Big Meade park and Shanklin Cricket Club, with the house sold on to the Workers’ Travel Association for a hotel for the underprivileged and then turned into a luxurious hotel in 1979. It has now been extensively renovated and restored to bring it back to its former glory, as well as meet the demands of the modern world. The duplex apartment comprises of two large bedrooms, one a master double bedroom with ensuite and the second twin bedroom, as well as a family bathroom, all on the first floor. There is also a toilet on the ground floor. All of the bedrooms benefit from parkland and woodland views, as well as views across farmland. The living area on the ground floor is spacious and open plan, with separate seating area with leather sofas and a home cinema and music system with LCD TV, HD DVD/CD player, Freeview, mobile/tablet jack and radio tuner, with speakers and controls in all bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as a dining area and kitchen. The kitchen includes an integrated dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, oven, hob and microwave, all with a granite worksurface and kitchen lighting. The grounds and gardens extend out to 2 acres, with a listed walled garden and summerhouse, as well as a private gate for access the adjacent picturesque parkland. Just next door is Shanklin Cricket Club, where you can enjoy a summer’s afternoon watching the action, as well as the Big Meade park surrounding the manor, with open grassland, a duck pond and children’s play area. Finally, the historic St Blasius’ Church can be found at the entrance to Shanklin Manor, which was the former church to the manor and dates back to 12th century. Just five minutes walk away is the Old Village, with the famous thatched cottages and a selection of local shops, pubs and restaurants, and the main town centre following afterwards. Finally, it is just five minutes walk from the cliff top and Esplanade with its sandy beaches.

  • An excellent place to stay. A beautiful building in a beautiful setting. Quiet, relaxing and a very well appointed house. Host was really helpful, communicative and it was like a home from home. Lovely rooms, great facilities, good bathroom, easy access, I’m really not sure what more you could want from an AirBnB, well done to the team, we loved it and so did the kids.

    James2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Would recommend this to anyone! Very clean, great location and friendly owner. 10/10

    Josh2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is spacious, modern and clean, based in a beautiful park with private parking. There was a welcome pack and also lots of leaflets and information about local attractions. The village is nice with some great places to eat, and is also within easy reach of lots of beaches and activities. We stayed in November, so the area was quieter than usual, but we still found plenty to do and see. Adam replied very promptly to us when arranging our arrival and was flexible with the arrangements. We would highly recommend this place.

    Julie2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is spacious and extremely well appointed with everthing you might require. The appliances are new and spotlessly clean as are all the rooms. The linen and towels are all of good quality and the beds are most comfortable. The apartment is situated in a peaceful and quiet parkland environment and very close to the "old village" of Shanklin. I would highly recommend Shanklin Manor.

    Barry2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay here - the photos don't do the location justice. Its in a nice quiet setting with lovey parkland all around and an easy walk to Shanklin and all its amenities. There was plenty of space for the 4 of us. We would recommend this property.

    Jill2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great clean, safe, modern solid house built in a traditional style which really blends into location. Located at south end of Shanklin which is both quieter and better looking. However, still lose to some really good places to eat and shop. Accommodation has everything you need for a fantastic break / holiday. Adam was a really good host, efficient and good information provided.

  • This little hut is amazing if you are looking for a reasonably priced stay. It has absolutely everything you could ask for. Ten minutes' walk from the town centre, this little treasure is tucked away at the back of Dan and Sarah's house. It is a Shepherd's Hut, so you do only have limited space which suited me fine, as I Iike to lie on the bed and watch TV. Right next door is another hut which is your own private bathroom. Huge bath but no shower. I suggest bringing a pair of flip flops to save you taking your boots or shoes on and off each time you go to the loo. There were 2 lovely plush bath robes as well. Huge choice of teas and coffees with your own fridge, which the hosts had thoughtfully stocked up with milk and pots of jam; there was also a selection of cereal and even Lindt chocolate balls 🤗 You are also in invited to use their kitchen for cooking and eating your meals. I would liken this hut to glamping and for the price you will not find a better accommodation anywhere. Thank you Dan and Sarah

    Irene2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is perfectly priced, if you're looking for an adventurous and different stay on a small budget this is great! It is a kitted summer house/ Shed in the garden with a nice seporate bathroom 10 feet away. Heating is good and definitely required in the winter. Don't expect 5 star accommodation for the price. You get exactly what you pay for and I would definitely stay again if I needed somewhere on the island. Thank you

Lisa communicated quickly, which was particularly helpful when we needed to stay an extra night because of the storm. Md Almuch2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Rosie's place is a charming lovely clean little cottage - an amazing space with loads of lovely little touches and a great location to see the rest of the island. A+

  • Such a lovely cottage! Much better than what we expected! Cosy, warm, immaculately clean and easy to find. Rosie and Richard are super welcoming, prompt at replying and gave us very clear directions before we arrived. The kitchen and living space with a lovely fireplace have all we needed and even more! Board games, books, a comfy chair and sofa. The bed is incredibly comfortable with soft linen and (what a surprise) there is an electric thermal blanket too! The bathroom is spotless clean and soft towels are provided. It was just like a dream! We’ll definitely come back!!

Petit Tor is a sunny Isle of Wight holiday home just over the road from famous Steephill Cove & other secluded beaches, Ventnor Botanic Gardens & Coastal Footpath. Great views, walking, cycling & family-friendly activities. Walk into Ventnor for shops, pubs and restaurants. In micro-climate of 'Britain's Hottest Garden'. Our own large, tropical gardens to dine & relax in. 4 local downs for walkers. Good for couples, families (+ kids) and well behaved dogs. Friendly new owners June 2016.
Petit Tor is a detached 2 bedroom bungalow with a separate living/dining room, kitchen, showroom/toilet, and bedrooms. There is plenty of parking space and a wonderful sub-tropical garden stocked with tropical plants and trees. We offer free wifi and will supply you with an access key in your welcome pack. Wifi signal cannot be guaranteed and can be intermittent.
Petit Tor is situated on the beautiful South East coast of the Isle of Wight opposite Steephill Cove and a few yards walk from the Botanic Gardens. This area is a secret hideaway for those who visit year after year! There is a coastal walking path moments from the door, that takes visitors all around the island with otherwise hidden bays and headlands and secluded beaches on the way. You can stroll into Ventnor for a glass or 2 by the sea, or listen to live music or eat out or take out. Wander to the Ventnor Country Market on Saturday morning or play a game of tennis at the club, watch a screening at the Arts Club – all in easy walking distance. There really is something for everyone.
  • We couldn't have asked for anything better for our little 4 night break away. Susie was there to greet us on arrival and showed us around the property and informed us of everything we needed to know. We came with our 2 children 6yrs and 9months. There was a great travel cot all set up with sheets and covers our baby slept soundly for 11hrs a night!! Susie's place is in an idyllic setting and we enjoyed watching the red squirrel every morning. Thank you For a fab break and escape from everything especially with what's happening in the world right now. Total Bliss :o)

    Hayley2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, easy access, good amenities. A cozy apartment with plenty of space and excellent shower! Coast a very short walk away and great way to meander towards the town centre. However the town is pretty much dead in the winter with little open or very limited hours but that is also the same across much if the island.

    Mark2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous few days at Petit Tor. The cottage was warm, charming and cosy, with everything we needed as well as a few thoughtful touches which were much appreciated. It was spotlessly clean and we received a warm welcome from Susie on arrival. Even in January we were amazed by how green the Isle of Wight was, with many plants already out in flower in the mild climate. The Botanic Gardens, just a few metres from the house, are well worth a visit, and there was lovely walking in both directions from Steephill Cove which meant a happy dog! We visited Osborne House which is spectacular, also the Garlic Farm which had an excellent restaurant. Sadly our stay was too short to see everything but we hope to return for longer in future as the Isle of Wight has so much to see and do and is very dog-friendly. Highly recommend.

    Tracy2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house is ideally located for exploring the south coast while also being close to other attractions on the island. Susie was a fantastic host, very responsive and went above and beyond when I had a personal issue. Amazing home away from home!

    Rachael2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location and fantastic bungalow! We really enjoyed our stay. Walked over 88,000 steps in 4 days! Perfect weather! Thank you so much for a very comfortable stay!

    Amy2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you visit Petit Tor, you will find an immaculate cottage situated in a beautiful quiet area with a private lovely garden area. The hosts were always helpful & a pleasure to meet providing personal touches (fruit, coffee, tea, towels & kitchen cloths/towels all tied with a ribbon bow. If you are thinking of renting this cottage.......think no longer.....book it!

The Hermitage occupies the whole lower ground floor of an 1840s former coastguard cottage: *Stunning sea views over the English Channel from the garden *Private entrance and courtyard *Pretty flower garden, picnic bench, deckchairs *Quiet location 5 mins walk from Ventnor town, the beach and top quality eateries *Beautiful interior, large jacuzzi bath, superking bed, fully equipped kitchen (hob, oven, fridge/freezer) *Cosy fire in lounge *2 mins walk to No.3 bus stop *Free on-road parking
The Hermitage – A unique and utterly charming retreat that allows you to easily explore Ventnor and the Isle of Wight at your leisure. * Boasting superb garden views of both the English Channel and St Boniface Down (the highest point on the island), this holiday home has everything you need for a relaxing stay in this beautiful Victorian seaside town. * It is also the perfect base from which to explore the local area, including award winning Ventnor Beach, stunning woodland and hillside walks, hidden coves and a plethora of top quality restaurants, pubs, shops and other attractions. Not to mention the world famous Ventnor Botanic Gardens. * You can be as busy or relaxed as you like, in the comfortable security that you have a beautiful home, pretty garden and stunning sea views to return to. * Recently renovated by the current owner, The Hermitage occupies the entire lower ground floor of a 3 story 1840's former coastguard cottage and is a very short walk from the heart of the town. * The Hermitage has her own walled courtyard to the front, ideal for morning coffee, along with independent access to the southwest-facing rear garden (with barbecue) and verandah, affectionately known as ‘The Champagne Deck’, with its fabulous sea views which perfectly complement a relaxing sundowner. * The balcony and garden area are also accessible by myself, but ultimate priority is given to guests. * A very comfortable lounge, with fire, TV and DVD player. * 1 x super-king double bedroom (also available as a twin room) * Very well-equipped kitchen - hob, oven, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, cafetiere and plenty of pots and pans. * A beautiful bathroom incorporating a rain shower and a huge Jacuzzi bath. * Should you wish to remain in touch with the outside world, radio, television and wifi are all provided. * The South-West facing garden and verandah has incredible views over the rooftops of Ventnor town to the sea. * Quality bed linen and towels, plus beach towels and picnic paraphernalia are included at no extra charge. Aptly, given her coastguard history, The Hermitage proudly boasts open views across the town rooftops to the ocean, and also, away to the right, takes in the magnificence of St Boniface Down, the highest point on the Island. Whilst the walk from The Hermitage to the town and sea is by no means flat, the views make the moderate effort well worthwhile.
What’s So Great about Ventnor…? Despite a beguilingly tranquil ambience, The Hermitage is just a three-minute walk from central Ventnor with its array of restaurants, bars, pubs and cafes. In trademark style, Ventnor effortlessly mingles its enviable plethora of superior quality restaurants. From friendly, classic seaside establishments, easily catering for every palate and preference to very fine dining and bistro, Ventnor has become known as the food capital of the Island. This alluring mix extends out from the compact but eclectic shopping area right along the water frontage of Ventnor's iconic, blue-flag beach. Although it has enticed seasonal visitors in significant numbers for over a century, Ventnor also has a thriving and energetic non-tourist community so its businesses are open all year round, making it worthy of a visit at any time of year. The Isle of Wight is renowned for its magnificent coastline, and this is easily accessible on foot from Ventnor seafront. A short walk towards the east quickly brings you to the picturesque village of Bonchurch and onwards, if you wish, through Luccombe to Shanklin. Alternatively, heading west takes you on an equally stunning coastal route to the uniquely idyllic enclave of Steephill Cove, where you might stop to savour the view and notable local restaurants or continue on to St Lawrence, Castle Haven Cove, Niton and, eventually, St Catherine's lighthouse. Whichever way you walk, you will find an abundance of wildlife and spectacular views.
  • I could not have asked for a nicer place to stay on the island. Lesley is so accommodating and helpful, with great tips of local places to enjoy. The little flat has everything you could need in a perfect location with luxurious touches that make it extra special. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

    Katie2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy place right in the centre of Ventnor. We loved the fire and the jacuzzi bath and Lesley's many local tips.

    Tom2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent facility with Smart Tv and a great range of shops nearby We especially liked Quirky gift shop and London bakers

    Neil2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a week and felt very much home. Lesley was very kind and gave us a lot of suggestions on the places around the isle. The Hermitage was nice and cozy, even with the harsh weather, I would say we dint felt it inside as it was an underground accommodation and we have everything we needed with full private access. The internet was very good and parking was on- road and there is always 1 or 2 spaces available. If not we had a £1 overnight stay car park on 2mins walking distance. Finally the Jacuzi bath made our day every evening after long hill walks around the isle. We had a really nice time.

    Yogesh2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, cosy accommodation. Great shower, very comfortable bed and pillows. Very clean and a good location for walking into Ventnor town. Lesley is a wonderful host. Would certainly want to come back again.

    Barbara2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the Hermitage, so cosy and comfortable, the photos don’t really do it justice! Ventnor was a great place to be based with lots of lovely reasonably priced restaurants and it was easy to go anywhere on the island from there. Osborne House is a must and we enjoyed walking to the Needles from Tennyson Down and trips to West Cowes and old Shanklin! Highly recommended!

    Ann2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Hermitage, it is spotless, extremely comfortable and well appointed. Communication with Lesley was excellent, she was there to greet us upon arrival and after a quick tour we were left to our own devices. Lesley is a fountain of knowledge on the island is very happy to give advice or suggestions on places to eat, drink and visit. We absolutely recommend eating at the Spyglass Inn, they work just as hard out of season as they do in the summer months. The food is very tasty, freshly prepared and good value. They also have a great line up of live bands, we enjoyed an evening of Blue Grass courtesy of the Chale Bay Wailers whilst we were there. There are some fabulous places to walk/visit. We loved the Needles Battery walk, although the Old Battery was closed when we went, you can still get an awesome side view of the Needles if you climb further up to the new battery and the old missile testing site. The drive from Ventnor to Alum Bay is spectacular with lots of places to stop for great views. If you're feeling energetic make the climb up to St Catherine's Oratory, where you can get a 360 degree view of the whole island. The walk from Ventnor to Shanklin along the coastal path takes a couple of hours and also has wonderful sea view. You will pass Old St Boniface Church which is beautiful and welcomes visitors. We had the most lovely stay at Lesley's place and will return. Thank you Lesley!

    Alison2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our little stay at Lesley's place in Ventnor. A fantastic little place, that has been lovingly put together, with all the finishing touches. So pleased we came across this option.

  • I have come back to Bree’s cottages several times in the last year, and have plans to return in the coming months. I wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else on the island. The cottages are lovely, cosy even in the winter, great location and offer an ideal living space and base for my working/travelling trips.

  • My husband, 9 month old baby and I just stayed here for a week over New Year (second visit in fact as we also stayed in the autumn!) whilst visiting family on the island and we had a great time both visits with no issues. Both of the chalets we stayed in were very well finished with all the mod cons- flat screen TV, power shower and bath, full kitchen facilities (oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge/freezer).... lovely lounge area, table and chairs on the mini patio out the back- lovely to have breakfast out there in the summer I imagine! We loved all the homely furnishings and a major bonus- the bed is really comfy! Lovely bathroom as well with plenty of space. Going above and beyond they also provide some local bread, eggs and milk. In addition- the hosts are quick to respond to messages over the air b&b app and there is very easy parking right in front of the chalets. Thank you very much and we’ll see you again next time we’re down on the island. Zoë, Joe and baby Chiara x

The Priory is an impressive former Gentlemen’s residence, which dates back to 1864 and has been lovingly restored as superior apartments. Set in a tranquil cliff top area of Shanklin, the apartment features stunning uninterrupted panoramic sea views. The impressive apartment boasts a master double bedroom, with ensuite bathroom, twin second bedroom and also a family bathroom. The open plan living area includes leather sofas with a home cinema and music system with LCD TV, HD DVD/CD player, Freesat, mobile/tablet jack and radio tuner, with speakers and controls in all bedrooms and bathrooms, and dining area. It also includes the granite finished kitchen, which features an integrated dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, oven, hob and microwave. From the living area, there are French doors that open out to the spacious decked area, where you can sit, relax and soak up the spectacular scenery. There is also over 2 acres of woodland gardens, complete with winding paths, beautiful plants, play and seating areas. Surrounding The Priory is National Trust and farmland, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and many coastal walks, all waiting to be explored. Just five minutes walk away is the Old Village, with the famous thatched cottages and a selection of local shops, pubs and restaurants, and the main town centre following afterwards. Finally, it is just a few minutes from the cliff top and Esplanade with its sandy beaches.
  • As others have said in their reviews of apartment 13 at The Priory, the photos on the listing really do not do it justice. The apartment is big, warm and well equipped with two bathrooms and an abundance of natural light flooding in from the south facing patio, gardens and vast seascape beyond. The view is breathtaking as is the stargazing from the patio on a clear night. There is a superb sound system throughout the property so you can enjoy a jig in the shower, if you like. The kitchen is well equipped and so perfect for self catering - essential through the unfortunate time of coronavirus shutdown we are currently going through. The property is quite a distance away from any busy areas, although Old Shanklin is walkable within 10/15mins. The Coastal Path is nearby and some wonderful walking through ancient woods and National Trust land is virtually on the doorstep. Overall, a perfect apartment for relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors while staying safe and well.

  • Extremely well kept apartment in a picturesque location. Superb communication from the host throughout our stay. Stunning sea views from the living room and master bedroom. Only a short walk into Old Shanklin and Shanklin towns.

  • We had a lovely week in the apartment with our two children. The gardens were beautiful and the location was stunning, and our stay was very cosy and comfortable. We found plenty of activities nearby and on the island to keep us occupied for the week. Thoroughly recommended.

  • Lovely apartment, finished to a very high standard and sparkling clean. The photos don't do it justice. The views are spectacular. Very family friendly, we came with our 2 year old and it worked well. Would highly recommend!

    David2019-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was fantastic. It was super clean and had everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. Apart from the essentials, there were extra touches such as a welcoming card, tourist maps, an ordinance survey map, board games, satellite tv with a full range of Freeview channels, and even binoculars to enjoy the view. Talking of that, it was breathtaking looking over the ocean and with the white cliff of Bembridge fort on the left. We only wish we had been there in the summer to take full advantage of the beautiful outside deck, as we could imagine sipping a glass or two of wine whilst looking out over that view would have been very special. We hope to return to the Isle of Wight again (although it’s a long way from Australia), and if we do we will definitely book into Adam’s place again.

    Susan2019-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We walked in and were wowed by the cleanliness (5*), everything was very modern and well cared for. We were a family of 4 and found the space to be generous. The kitchenette was well equipped and the extractor did a great job or removing cooking smells quickly. The balcony was great and the views amazing. We would definitely recommend this to another family....Also for those with mobility issues, there is easy access and I would take my Nan to this property happily.

  • The place of James is really a peaceful oasis: if you're looking for a secluded place, far from... everything, don't look further! It's a cottage with all the amenities you might need for a short stay: from the kitchen to the bathroom to the internet connection, everything worked perfectly. The only downside for us was the electric heating: we're used to central gas heating back home and with the humidity outside it was a bit unpleasant, especially at night when the heaters have to come off. We wanted to use logs but unfortunately the one we purchased from the local co.op were too damp to use. Other than that, it was really a perfect stay, we really needed exactly a place like that at this time of our life! The hospitality of Wenna, James' mother, was unique and her reactivity was truly appreciated. We had a wonderful time exploring Isle of Wight, which truly is a hidden gem! All in all, a great experience!

  • If you are looking for a cosy quiet remote place to relax then look no further. The cottage is immaculately clean. It’s small but comfortable. We visited in November but it would be excellent to visit in the Spring or summer. Winner is very friendly and accommodating if you have any needs. We will go back in Spring/Summertime.

  • We’ve just returned from a wonderful stay at Kennel Cottage in the IOW. The weather wasn’t great during our short stay but this didn’t matter. The cottage was so cosy and warm and full of surprises and nice touches. The log burner was an added bonus especially as we stayed in November. The setting was amazing! Only minutes from the ferry terminal at Fishbourne and yet really peaceful and quiet with views out over a loverly garden and farmland and woods beyond. We even saw a couple of Red squirrels as we arrived. James was a great host and his Mum who meet us at the property was really helpful too. We will definitely be back.

This single-storey, one-bedroom cottage is the ideal bolthole if you’re looking to recharge your batteries and spend some time away from all the stresses and strains of the day-to-day. The decking area overlooks the green, one of the hubs of West Bay, and you’ll want to spend time just soaking up the atmosphere (and hopefully the sun!) sitting in the garden furniture here. Indoors is an open plan living space that runs the full width of the property, with a kitchen and dining area as well as a cosy lounge with a Freeview TV and DVD player. There’s also a double bedroom with a door leading out to the patio, as well as a bathroom with a shower over the bath. • First time to the Isle of Wight and could not have been a better stay. Excellent location for exploring the Island and in a incredibly beautiful setting & dog friendly. Could not fault Palomino Cottage and its amenities. Definitely one of the best AirBnb’s we have stayed in. Mike was on hand for any questions we had and we’ll definitely be back

    Ross2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay at a well presented cottage. Mike was very helpful and communication was spot on. Check in and out we’re smooth and simple. The cottage is located just inland of the south coast of the island which is definitely the prettier side and you can walk the coastal path for hours and hours and hours! The local pub has good food and friendly atmosphere. Any future trips to the Isle of Wight we will definitely look at booking here again as we had a great break, also the gluten free lemon drizzle cake on arrival was excellent!!

    Andrew2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was everything we hoped it would be. Beautifully decorated, to a high standard throughout, peaceful and well equipped with everything we needed for a 4 night stay. We can’t wait to return for another stay!

    Amy2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn’t ask for a better place to spend a long weekend - set in beautiful coast and countryside, Mike’s place is modern and really well put together while retaining a rustic charm.

  • Great location and fabulously clean, comfortable and cosy cottage. Would definitely stay here again. Great value too.

    Rob2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is the best Airbnb place we have stayed in. It is beautifully and thoughtfully furnished and immaculately clean. The location is stunning- perfect for long walks along the coast. Communication, both prior to, and during our stay was superb and I honestly can’t think of how our stay could be improved ...except perhaps for the weather !!

    Isobel2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • As a super host myself and regular traveller I can categorically say that this was one of the best Airbnb stays I've had. Very high quality accommodation with quality fixtures and fittings. It doesn't get much better than this.

  • Absolutey loved our stay here. There's nothing I'd change. It's got mod cons but without losing its charm. They have left no stone un tunred, the little touches were perfect. Lovely place set in a lovely landscape. Will be recommending for sure.

    Andrew2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Victoria's place is lovely! Everything has been very thoughtfully done. Who knew you could fit so much in such a small space and still have room left! The little touches really made a difference and just made it feel that little bit more luxurious. We were lucky with the weather and had gorgeous views over the meadow. It was cold when we stayed but the heater warmed us up in no time, as did the hot choc that was provided! Thanks for such a fab weekend escape!

    Ruth2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

  • For the price you pay, it's an amazing stay! So many amenities in the huts, which a small, but well laid out. It was nice to be provided with a small hamper of tea, coffee, biscuits and even milk and juices in the fridge! Definitely use the hot tub, which is £5 per person with an honesty box. Only stayed for the one night but would definitely come again in the summer!

Nestled between two downs on westernmost point of the Island. Breathtaking views, walks out the door. Built in 1850s, restored with sumptuous furnishing, light filled rooms. Luxurious wood-burning sauna and outdoor shower.
Can sleep 4-6 (using sofa bed), or up to 8 people for 20% surcharge. Two bedrooms: Master bedroom (queen), second bedroom (double). The small library/TV room has an over/under day bed that can be made up for two more people. You have to walk through the library to reach the second bedroom. Additionally, the Lookout can be rented for a 20% surcharge. It is a small prow-shaped building at the front of the property, from where coastguards would watch for smugglers coming from Alum Bay. It has two (very!) high bunk beds accessed by a ladder, which can be a fun way to host children or guests.
  • I stayed for work but certainly felt more like a holiday - what a lovely place! I would recommend to everybody, perfect location, very well looked after. You’ll not regret booking here

  • Great location, beautiful house, would highly recommend!!

    Tara2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent cottage, very well equipped and very comfortable. Morgan’s instructions were accurate and comprehensive, and all was as expected. The only slightly tricky thing was the parking and access, particularly in a very wet February, but that won’t stop us returning again. Overall, highly recommended.

    Ben2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this place for my boyfriends birthday and was a little anxious due to the fact that it was our first trip away with our 7month old pup, but it was brilliant! I think the dog thought it was his birthday - he loved it! Great location, the place is big and spacious, would be great for a group of people but equally good for the 3 of us! Loved the fire place!! Lots of fantastic walks near by (lots of god walks) - everything you need is close by! Lovely view over the fields - It’s worth noting for dog owners that the garden isn’t secure but still private. If your dog is good off the lead then it’s no issue, big enough to stroll around. Had a great stay and would definitely stay again!!

Highlands takes its name from the imposing Victorian residence that stood on the cliff top site for over 100 years. Originally built for the Lord Mayor of London, Sir James Thomson Ritchie, and subsequently used by Reverend William Page Roberts, Bishop of Salisbury, for his final years, it was later owned by the McAuslane family, who turned it into a well known hotel. After its closure, it was then used by Upper Chine School for its final years. After being left for a decade, the current Highlands was then constructed, a grand and impressive mock Georgian manor house that lived up to its predecessor in terms of scale and views across Shanklin. However, it was never finished and derelict, open to the elements, for a decade. Now, after an extensive refurbishment and conversion, it is now restored into 5 spacious, luxurious apartments. Each of the apartments offer their own quirks and special features, from the penthouse’s unique roof top conservatory and balcony with its fantastic views to the annexe’s duplex apartment, the property is spread across four levels from the garden to the penthouse with annexe to side. The property benefits from spectacular panoramic sea, town and countryside views around the building, going across to Sandown Bay, Shanklin town and the Downs towards Ventnor. All of the apartments benefit from oak furniture and leather sofas, oak floored living areas with fitted kitchens with granite worktops and all your key appliances, 32″ LED TV with Freesat and DVD and free wifi. Communal gardens are available for all apartments to enjoy with seating available alongside off road parking and cycle parking bays. For apartment 4, the property is a second floor loft penthouse apartment accessed via communal area on first floor with double and single bedrooms. There is a bathroom, kitchen/dinner and conservatory on roof living area with private balcony with views over Sandown Bay. Apartments 1, 2, 3 and 5 are also available to book individually or in any combination for larger groups. The property is found on the coastal path between Shanklin and Sandown and just down the road from National Trust land and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is also a few minutes walk from the picturesque Old Village and its thatched cottages, plus shops, pubs, restaurants and the main town, as well as the cliff top, Esplanade and Shanklin’s beaches.
  • Great communication and location

    Nazim2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and location . Place is clean and nice place to stay in !

    Aroldas2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great second floor apartment with views of the coast, with a dedicated parking space. The apartment is deceptively spacious. It is spotlessly clean and well equipped for a long stay. The sitting roof is bright and airy with its atrium roof. Would love to stay here again. The ceilings do slope as other reviewers have said, but I'm over 6 foot tall and didn't find it a major problem. Access to the second (single) bedroom is restricted because of the sloping roof, but a younger child would absolutely love that space!

    Phil2019-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolutely lovely apartment, well equipped and offering stunning views from the balcony. We loved the feel of the place and sloping ceilings, though we are both quite short 😃 Relatively easy walking distance to the seafront - though uphill on the return, a good way to exercise off any of the tempting food on offer locally! Many thanks for a peaceful and relaxing stay, already looking forward to returning....

    Kerry2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • My mother, two sons and I had a beautiful stay here. Thanks to Adam and his team for arranging a clean and well put together holiday unit, complete with plush carpets, towels and bedding. I found the baby cot and high chair to be a huge help. The sun balcony with beautiful views and full sun roof were well worth the extra stairs to reach the loft, for me. My mother did find the gabled roof a little frustrating as her mobility is a bit restricted and she was staying in the single room, which is most impacted by it. Overall I would really recommend this unit to others. It was finished to a high standard with good amenities and easy walking access to Shanklin Village.

    Danielle2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • A great apartment. Perfect location for the old village and coastal walks.

    Gareth2017-10-28T00:00:00Z

This adorable wood-paneled cabin is tucked away in Ventnor Botanic Garden's Upper Nursery with sea views across the Garden to the English Channel. The Cabin is a bijou hide-away, perfect for a couple. The small wood stove keeps you warm and cosy in the open plan space, which has a full kitchen. The Cabin also has its own Mediterranean garden and terrace with outside seating. The shower facilities and composting toilet are adjacent, and shared with two other cabins and occasional campers.
You can order meals from our chefs, enjoy a barista coffee or breakfast in The Plantation Room Café, and dine at edulis, our restaurant which features VBG grown produce. All stays at VBG are inclusive of access to Ventnor Botanic Garden and its shop, café, restaurant, studio, and garden gallery (£9.50 value per adult during the day - you can stay after-hours!) Come over for the daily Tunnel Tour or be guided to our underground Mushroom Fruiting Chamber. Staying at VBG gives you a great base to explore the Coastal Path, Steephill Cove, and The Undercliff. There is no WiFi available in the cabin. There is WiFi in the main Ventnor Botanic Garden building during opening hours.
Ventnor Botanic Garden sits right on the Coastal Path which runs along the cliff top to Ventnor to the East and St Catherine's Lighthouse to the West - a particularly beautiful area. Ventnor is a charming Victorian town with many boutique shops, superb eateries and a family friendly beach.
  • Excellent in all respects, clean, tidy, fabulous staff, wished we could have stayed longer! Will come back for another stay, thank you.

    Lesley2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience- good to try something a bit different! We’d read the info and reviews so knew what to expect- the compost loo was fine and with the log burner going we were toasty. It is wonderfully secluded, especially as there wasn’t anyone staying in the other cabin, with view of the sea and some interesting vegetation that made it feel like we were in a different country. The cabin it’s self was well equipped, comfortable with plenty of space. The gardens were a treat- great to be able to wander in whenever you wanted.

    Heather2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful place. The cabin was lovely and so peaceful and we had some great walks recommended to us by the cafe staff. Great location to see some great see views and the gardens and such friendly hosts.

    Laura2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful stay in such a cosy cabin! Although loo felt a little like glamiping, shower was lovely!! Had a great stay!

  • Couldn't of been more perfect, lovely clean cabin, amazingv view. The staff were amazing and always happy to help

    Demma2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing stay - perfect little cabin tucked away with your own log fire and great location only a few minutes from Ventnor. Super friendly host who is quick to respond. We loved walking round the gardens and they have a delicious cafe with comfy sofas and a fire for a bit of added luxury. If you are coming in the winter we would Recommend bringing an extra duvet or blanket as did get a bit cold in the early hours when the fire burns out

    Harriet2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was in a perfect location near the botanic gardens with a great sea view and surrounded by amazing plants. It was spotlessly clean and even though it was cold outside the woodburner kept the cabin really toasty inside. Would love to come and stay again

    Ewan2019-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice space tucked away down a hidden road above the botanical gardens. The free access to the botanical garden was much appreciated and we had a great stay. There was a storm whilst we were there and it was very cosy with the woodburner on. The dog loved it too!
