Women-only Retreat House, Close to Kamikochi NP

AnnettRating, 5 stars1 week ago
I came to stay after a busy conference week in Osaka and Kyoto, and this place was exactly what I needed. The environment was quiet and very relaxing. The room has lots of space and the house has a beautiful, thoughtfully designed interior. I especially enjoyed the nice view from the room. Yoko was incredibly kind and helpful — she picked me up and even dropped me off early in the morning so I could catch my bus to Kamikochi for hiking. I was also able to store my luggage there during the day, and after returning from Kamikochi, she even drove me from the bus to the train station. That level of hospitality really made a difference and made me feel very welcome. Highly recommended!

Mama's House II

NancyRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Daniel and Sui were amazing hosts, a sweet couple, who spoke great English, fluent Japanese, and Mandarin. Daniel took us back and forth to Hirata train station in the mornings and evenings. from Hirata station, it's 6 minutes to Matsumoto Station. we couldn't find any lodging near Matsumoto station which is how we found the airbnb. We didn't explore anything near the Airbnb but Daniel did take us by his vegetable gardens. Matsumoto is a great city to explore with delicious food. Sui prepared locally grown organic Fuji apples, Asian pear, and persimmon as well as teas and coffee. They had a fire for us and we felt very comfortable in the shared living room and kitchen. we were able to borrow their refrigerator and both days Sui prepared fruit for us to take. she also taught me more about Japanese culture (we share a Taiwanese background). my daughter was very comfortable with both the hosts and wished to stay longer. I enjoyed meeting them and hope to see them again! thank you!

The starry sky and sauna were extraordinary and really great! The food was also very delicious. The futon was also fluffy, and I was able to sleep slowly without air conditioning for the first time in a long time. Please take good care of the accommodation forever. I'd love to go again.

TC1 OPEN SALE Tomo's Cafe Annex with staff

太一Rating, 5 stars1 month ago
It was a guest house created by renovating a detached house. The first floor was a cafe-like space, and there was a large room to stay on the second floor. This room had two double beds and a sofa set.I was the only guest on the day I stayed, so I used the entire first and second floors. The bath and toilet were new and clean. The manager (the owner's mother) lives in a separate room, and I was relieved that she came immediately when I pressed the buzzer. It was close to the station, and it was nice to have a tavern nearby that served horse meat and local sake.I was traveling alone on a bike, and after riding the famous touring course in Nagano, Venus Line, I stayed here. There was also a free parking lot right next to this facility. The outdoor parking lot was not paved, so I laid a flat stone under the bike stand to use it.I had no problem at all.The manager was very kind and provided various conveniences, which was very helpful.

it was a great stay with good level of proactive communication and privacy. The location is quite remote but you can still walk to the house and there's taxi available from the nearest station Nyuzen. Thank you so much for making this great stay happen!

This AirBNB is beautifully appointed and has a great kitchen! The only negatives are it is difficult to find and accessible by very narrow streets with rock walls that you may have trouble driving on (we did). However, the host is very nice and patient, and he waited for us to find the place. Very gracious!

Penke Panke Lodge -3 bedroom apart & Breakfast

笹本Rating, 5 stars15 months ago
It was a very beautiful hostel. The view from the window was also good and the atmosphere was calm. However, the owner was not available when I checked in, and even if I asked the employee, I waited for a moment. It is a bit disappointing that we had to wait about 30 minutes for check-in.

Wadano Gateway: Family Suite, Apt + Breakfast

EricRating, 5 stars2 months ago
A very nice unit for a late season, middle of the week ski trip...very clean and functional with shoji walls making its conversion into a 2 bedroom unit easy. The best thing was the free shuttle service allowing us multiple stops to pick up skis from one place and go to areas with better snow. Its not a bad walk from the bus station and there are several restaurants nearby within easy walking distance...breakfast in the morning is a traditional Japanese one and fantastic with all you can eat cereals, breads, croissants, and coffee, milk and juice. The bar was not open when we were there, but it was still nice to have pool and foosball as evening entertainment. We were not hear during the peak season, but it was a fantastic stay when we were here!

Kizuna Lodge: Twin room with breakfast

DaxtonRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Our stay at Kizuna Lodge was incredible, and the staff were so welcoming and friendly, especially Helo, who gave us so many great recommendations for our road trip and who just overall was a lovely person to talk with. The neighborhood was very quiet, which we liked, and the accommodation had great amenities, which we took advantage of, especially the free hot chocolate. We enjoyed watching films on the TV in the common area as well as just relaxing. The lodge was also in close proximity to the Happo Gondola, which we used to get to the trailhead for our hike. It was also within a 3-minute drive to a Lawson and public onsen. Breakfast was also superb; our favorite was the French toast! Overall our stay at Kizuna Lodge was lovely, and we would definitely stay again the next time we’re in Hakuba!

Yuu-san welcomed me for the New Years holidays even though I made a reservation in the last moment. He and his family are very kind and welcoming. I enjoyed exploring the traditional New Year's meals and the musical selection every morning :) This artistic home is in a peaceful countryside area and great if you need to disconnect and find your creativity. Thank you for your hospitality!

Hakuba Bear's Lodge: King Room Cross-Country

MichaelRating, 5 stars3 months ago
My wife and I stayed at Bears lodge for our ski trip to Hakuba and had a really great experience. Everyone was incredibly friendly and happy to help with anything we needed. They went above and beyond picking us up and dropping us off at the bus terminal on arrival and departure. I would describe this home as a bed and breakfast style stay. You will be around others in closer proximity than you would a hotel but everyone is separated for their privacy with lockable rooms and plenty of space (considering you’re in Japan). We also used the TA-Q-BIN delivery service to send our skis which they graciously accepted before our arrival and had them waiting for us in our room. The lodge is also very conveniently located in the center of echoland with plenty of walkable restaurants and bars around as well as in very close proximity to the bus stops that pick you up and drop you off right at the base of whichever mountain you are looking to ski that day. There’s also a secure dry room for skis.

This little place is a gem and the hosts are amazing! Though you can’t ski in/out, the hosts will give you a lift to any resort for the day and pick you up. They can also drive you to the restaurants in Akakura town. You can even order dinner in and the food was delicious! I would stay here again if I was visiting the area in the future.
