Holiday rentals with a fireplace in Kalamaki Beach

we had a great week at Maria's place. The covered terrace is the most beautiful room in the house with a magnificent view of the sea. The beach is less than 5 minutes' walk away, but beware, for people who have difficulty walking, the slope is rather steep to climb. Maria is very responsive and responds very quickly to messages. Agia Pelagia remains a small seaside resort very well located to visit the North of the island. Beautiful discovery

We stayed as a family of six, four adults and two children (8 and 5). The set up was really comfortable and worked perfectly for us. The outdoor pool area is great and our two kids loved it - especially as there were lots of inflatables left to play with. We arrived at 3am. Xristos offered to meet us, but when we suggested with young children we'd prefer just to get in and get to bed, then meet up after it was no problem at all. We had instructions to call when we arrived, and the gate was opened for us. We were blown away by how well supplied the house was. Xristos was in touch in the week before to check if we needed anything in particular and couldn't have been more helpful in making sure we had everything we needed to start our holiday. Then we had a delivery of local fruit and wild artichokes as they were in season. Amazing. There was a dust storm before we arrived. Xristos promptly sorted this too. A great and relaxed place to stay, with an unbelievably good host. Thanks!

Dream accommodation for a quiet holiday away from tourist areas! Pompia is an authentic village of about 1000 inhabitants. You will mostly come across locals while walking in the village and going to restaurants 2 minutes' walk away. The apartments are perfectly suited for cooking and the thick walls make them cool spaces. The setting is peaceful with a roof terrace and beautiful sunsets to watch. It's clearly a gem!

May 2025, 10 nights stay for three (2 adults, 1 toddler). Villa is really fantastic. Beautiful view of the sea and the bay. It offers plenty of space for more people (2 couples, 4-6 friends, 2 families) and for longer stays (storage space, cupboards and shelves, etc.). The furnishings correspond to the description and offer, even in the kitchen, everything you need. Our highlight was the covered terrace. Our flight was moved up at short notice. A significantly earlier check-in was no problem at all in our case. Stelios is a very friendly, helpful and dedicated host. We recommend him and his villa without reservation. Small limitation: the accommodation is a bit off the beaten track or the region is a bit urbanised (mainly due to the geography of the terrain). Without your own car, it will be a bit difficult in our opinion. However, there is a free parking space directly at the house.

Very nice modern house (less than five years old?) overlooking the sea. Everything in very good working order, including powerful air conditioning in the bedrooms. Frequent cleaning of the pool area was a benefit, particularly when a storm had come in the night before. Very convenient to Rethymno as well as to several bakeries and restaurants towards the centre of the island.

The location is special, we celebrated it. Beautifully located. Totally quiet and a little off the beaten path. We were feeling absolutely safe. The local restaurants were just open at the beginning of May - it's village-like. Car is necessary. The prices fair, the people friendly. Visiting free-living cats. A cat has born her kittens near the accommodation and feels part of the house. The first micromarket is 5 minutes away, in Gazi (10 min) there are larger shopping opportunities. The bathroom is small and like everything about the house lovingly designed. From the height of 180 cm, the use of the toilet requires some flexibility because of the legroom. The house is a dream if you want to relax and come down.

We had a wonderful stay! The house was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The location was perfect for a relaxing vacation, and we really appreciated the peaceful atmosphere. Communication with the host was smooth and easy.

The space was spacious, comfortable, and had a beautiful view. We especially loved the large deck—perfect for enjoying morning coffee or dining outdoors. The location is great, with a wonderful bakery and market just a short walk away. You’ll need a car to explore the town and surrounding area, but everything is within a short, easy drive. Our host was incredibly welcoming and responsive, sharing great tips and insights about the area. They also took the time to share aspects of the local culture, which made our stay feel even more special. We were lucky to be in Rethymno over Easter—it was an unforgettable experience!

It was a perfect place! George and family were very hospitable! Our daughter was even allowed to play upstairs with his children! Apartment was nice, spacious and very clean! With large balconies (with a fantastic view) and a spacious garden that was perfect for our 4 year old daughter. From the garden we got lettuce, eggs, sheep's milk and olive oil. Close to the beach, nice restaurants and hiking trails. Repeatable! We enjoyed it :).

We had the pleasure of staying in Rena's apartment from 26/5 to 2/6/25 and it was a fantastic experience! The apartment was as described but the view from the terrace also exceeded expectations! Unfortunately, we were not able to meet Rena personally, but she was always available for all our requests. She had warned us in advance that the village market would still be closed, so we were able to stock up on groceries before arriving, but she still made sure we had everything we needed in the house (thank you again!). In the house, there is every type of useful accessory for the kitchen, but also some thoughtful touches that I have never found on other occasions! The road to reach this small village is quite winding, but we felt so good there that we only moved once. There are 2/3 beaches (where we were often alone) reachable with a nice walk in the middle of nowhere breathing the scent of oregano! We hope to be back!

It was my second time at Manolis’ place and I love it. It’s one of most magic places I know on this planet and Manoils and his parents are always very friendly and helpful. The kitchen is very well equipped and the apartment very cosy and bright. Especially in autumn I like this area and the balcony because it’s very calm and relaxed - you are very near the ocean. Like last time Manolis mum prepared some dinner for me and the fridge was full of food ❤️. Unfortunately there was some strong wind during my 4 weeks there and so I had some power outages and wifi / fon connection outages. Manolis did his very best and was very helpful to get it fixed as soon as possible.

Stavros was fantastic, as was the history of this wonderful place. Rethymno was a beautiful town and we explored everywhere on foot. We decided on walking in the morning and then having a late lunch (each lunch was fantastic) and walking back up the hill to have a light supper on the deck at sunset. Beautiful and thank you so much for the care you put into your house to make it a wonderful experience.

This place is beautiful! We enjoyed our stay especially watching sunrises with coffee on the balcony and watching sunsets with some wine. The views are stunning. It had all the amenities we needed for our stay and was quiet when we needed some rest. It was about a 20 minute walk to old town and had good sidewalks and lighting. Parking in Rethymno can be challenging so having a spot was very convenient. There is a little beach across the street for a quick dip in the sea. It is a great spot for venturing to other locations. I highly recommend checking out the artist town of Margarites. Nikos was a great host, very easy to reach and provided some lovely recommendations.

We had an amazing time at this lovely place. The view from the balcony is absolutely spectacular. And just a short walk down the hill, and you are right by the beach, where you also find some good local taverna. It does get a bit hot in the apartment, but the AC helps. Absolute highlight was the amazing homemade Greek food by host Eleni. Never experienced such hospitality in an Airbnb before! Will definitely visit again!

We had a wonderful time at this stunning villa! The view of the sea is absolutely breathtaking, and the large pool was a true highlight. We especially loved the amazing outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven – perfect for relaxing evenings and cooking outdoor with Kids. Dimitra and her family were incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the very beginning. There are several tavernas with great food within walking distance. We felt completely at ease and would love to come back!

This place is amazing! The villa has everything you need from a fully stocked kitchen to pool inflatables. It’s in a private location which makes you able to really take in the beauty of the mountains. My kids’ favorite thing about this place was the golf course. The pool and landscape is breathtaking. They were also very helpful with local recommendations. I would visit again in a heartbeat. If you are looking for a place to stay at in Crete, this is it!

Nikos' place is incredible. It totally transports you to another time and lets you absorb the beauty of the Cretan landscape and nature. We noticed something new every day. Having the pool with stunning views of the mountains and sea, a well-equipped kitchen and an olive tree shaded seating area to eat in, meant we rarely had to leave the place! Beautiful place, great for families. Lots of toys and even a potty for the kids! Cleaner came mid week which was not necessary but so great. Beach is a 3 min walk. Really need a car to get there which was fine for us! Thanks for everything.

This place creatively incorporates the historic parts of an olive mill with contemporary design. It was roomy and had everything we needed, but a minor thing, body wash would have been nice. Met the owner who was very nice and gracious. Loved being able to walk to 3 different great restaurants, a market, pharmacy and close proximity to Rethymno. It is strategically located between Chania and Heraklion, too. Definitely recommended!

we spent 12 days in this beautifully appointed villa. outdoor space with view over canyon is spectacular and we enjoyed sunsets and the sounds of birdsong and sheep bells. the pool is great as is the bbq area. we visited local sights and some further afield such as knossos. you really need a car to get around and be prepared for journeys to take some time. knossos well over an hour. people in the village were very friendly. we were given some cheese by the lady in the supermarket as you enter the village from the villa. we had free drinks at the store by the main taverna! Margarites is a nice place to spend time, browsing the pottery shops and enjoying the tavernas.

The house was great, clean, quiet and the view was beautiful. During our stay, there were problems with the Sahara dust, without us asking for it, someone came to clean the pool and outdoor area, that was great. We would choose the house again and again. However, you must be aware that there is no fixed road to the house, so an SUV is absolutely necessary.

Our stay at HotelPraxis was incredible and Polimnia was the most gracious host I have experienced in my 10 years in Airbnb. She was close by but never intrusive, left snacks, fruits and water in the fridge, dropped eggs off, recommended restaurants and incredibly, made baked goods of some traditional Greek treats that were so delicious. My family was overwhelmed by the beauty and privacy of the Blue Lake Villa. And the home is lovely, fluffy towels, great water pressure, comfortable beds. What a treat! We will definitely return! I highly recommend.
