Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Douro River

Lisbon was nice, but our vacation started here. Having this beautiful home and a car, we explored the region and had a great time. Owners recommendations led to our favorites experiences on the trip. Can't recommend enough. The pics don't do it justice either, and the pics are amazing.

I spent a glorious month at Maria Celeste’s home. It was simply the best place to reset, connect with nature & rest. I’ve never been to a more peaceful home. Freshly squeezed orange juice (from trees) every morning. Lemons for water. A natural spring to swim off hiking grime. Mountains to climb surrounding the entire home. Lizard & butterfly friends. And so so quiet. Maria Celeste picked me up & drove me to the location. Taxi services available to go to town when needed. I can not recommend staying at this home more. If you need some R’n’R, stay. You won’t regret it.

This place is an absolute gem. It is one of the nicest places we found in Portugal. The house is located in a small vineyard. Beds were comfortable. There’s a wood fired barbeque a great outdoor covered area and a beautiful infinity pool. Every morning we had fresh bread delivered to our doorstep. We picked lemons and oranges from around the house and had the host deliver us fruit. It was beautiful and quiet. The only negative is that we enjoy the place so much we did not visit any of the surrounding areas😊. If we had any questions, the host was response almost immediately with suggestions for places to go restaurants, markets. We had an excellent day and would return and stay there again anytime. It is definitely a 10 out of 10 definitely highly recommended.

It felt like home when we returned after 6 six years. The place of Laurence & Jorge is in line with the pictures and the view is amazing. The house has everything you need, we really loved the mattresses and the pillows. The house is surrounded by a large garden, and we liked the privacy and the fruit trees in the garden. Getting into the house is easy and communication is perfect. We will definitely return again! We recommend to do some groceries before you arrive, the nearest supermarket is a 15 min drive away. We cannot say enough about how enjoyable, peaceful, and satisfying our stay was in Fontelo at Marina’s house! The house feels spacious and open, with everything you need to be right at home. The views are incredible and the pool and outdoor spaces are functional and enjoyable. I wish I could go back and have another cup of coffee outside, watching the sun rise over the vineyard hills. A 15-minute drive to the Douro River makes tasting the local wines and Port very accessible — just make sure to check the route before following your GPS or you may end up on a dirt farm road :-) Marina is friendly and responsive, always willing to help with questions or suggestions for where to shop and eat. We are already looking forward to our return!

What a lovely stay! We immediately had to take our own photos to show the family. The property is very well presented, and we were provided with fresh fruit and eggs on arrival. We also had access to the private garden (more like a forest), which led down to the river. An unexpected surprise! We recommend to anyone looking at this listing!

It seems impossible to write something new about Maria and her wonderful place at the Douro River that has not been already commented and praised by previous guests. The 5-star review rating for Casa do Rio is very well earned: it is a piece of heaven, tucked away in the Douro Valley and Maria - and not to forget her husband, Jose (who does not get enough praise in other reviews) - are exceptional hosts. We stayed for 3 weeks, with a number of our friends coming to visit us for shorter stays. Maria accommodate all of our changing check-in and check-out needs without a glitch. We enjoyed taking advantage of the many activities and entertainment options - including massages by Hugo (a master of his craft) that the location provides. One thing to be aware of: There is no shopping option and limited restaurant choices available in walking distance, hence a car is almost a necessity for a longer stay.

The most amazing Airbnb I have ever stayed at. So value for what it is and it was beyond our expectations. Would love to stay here again. Carlos was so responsive, flexible with check in and assisted us with different taxi options when needed. The house keepers were so lovely and helpful

We (myself, my husband and 2 children 13 + 11) stayed at Dulce’s apartment for 2 nights in Porto. The location was excellent and we were able to walk almost everywhere. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Dulce was very responsive and friendly and more than helpful with any of our requests. We loved Porto and plan to visit again in the future. I would definitely stay here again. Note that the apartment is on the 2nd floor of a steep windy stairs. It was fine for us but may not suit anyone with mobility issues. Thank you Dulce for being a great host!

Cesar was a wonderful host - he communicated with us quickly and effectively. The flat was beautiful and right in the heart of Madrid, you cannot ask for a better location. Our very favourite was Le Coquette which is a blue bars just a short walk away. You cannot go wrong with this spot - thank you for the memories

This place was a dream! I couldn't believe I got to stay a couple of nights here, beautiful and taken care of, the bed was super comfy and had everything I needed for a perfect stay. Jolly was super nice. I hope I get to visit Madrid again and get to stay here, cannot recommend it enough!!!

Such a nice home and nice host! Check in was easy, the place was super clean and cute, and the host was so easy to communicate with. Only feedback is that it would be nice if shampoo and conditioner were provided, as well as some blankets for watching tv on the couch

it's difficult to put into words how wonderful Maria's accommodation is. It is 5* plus and less than a 10 minute walk into the harbour/bridge area of Porto. The trams run right by the apartment and there is a really great view of the river duoro from the balcony. Maria is the perfect host, as was her son Tiago, who came on our arrival to talk us through the map, and give us plenty of recommendations. Nothing was too much trouble. We loved our 5 days in Porto! Thank you Maria and family, for making our trip so special ❤️

The apartment was perfect. The host helped us solving some issues we had during the stay. They were great and extremely kind. We highly recommend and will definitely book this apartment again if we come back to Braga.

The apartment is a delight from the moment you walk in. It is beautifully decorated and feels like a home. Great bathroom with amazing rain shower and hot water. Bedroom and kitchen and living areas are all well presented and equipped with all you need and with lots of additional touches. Very quiet for sleeping, and great air conditioning in bedroom and living area. Great location to explore Porto, and don’t even have to walk very far at all, including a great cafe next door, to find lovely eating places. Pedro was a wonderful host in every way.

Nuno’s Porto studio was great! The location is perfect as it has various great restaurants and cafes right on the same street and you can walk to anywhere in the city within 10-15 min. The place was a modern studio that was very clean and had cool views. Nuno was very responsive and accommodating. I would stay here again!

Had a great stay at Carlos's place, location couldn't be any better and the terrace was awesome! Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying

Great apt and centrally located near Malasaña. Despite being on a big street it was very quiet at night. We had a great stay.

Daniel is extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and very quick responses. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend any of Daniel's private tours which are much more personal. if we return to Porto we would definitely stay here again.

This home is gorgeous and the location was incredible. Everything you want and need is right out the front door. The home has beautiful skyline views And water views. We loved staying at the property and were very happy a home of this caliber is shared with travelers.
