Holiday rentals with breakfast in Douro River

This place is truly unique and the hosts are incredible. From the very start of our stay I knew it would be a memorable experience, from Eloiza meeting us at the cannons and leading us through the winding paths of the medieval city. As the description states it is clearly a medieval home, so you have to expect it will have the conveniences of a medieval home. That being said, you will not find a more beautiful location in Monsanto. Our host also graciously provided a breakfast feast each morning, which was so lovely and unexpected. There are not many restaurant options in mind, so definitely keep that in mind. This was an incredible stay and I hope we can go back again one day!

The apartment is very well located, clean and comfortable beds and sofas. As the only one sticks in the apartment of the 10 bunk beds + double room the fridge stays very small and the living room the same, it is not to make a meal at home because there is not much space. Everything else great, very clean, linens and towels left over, all very well cared for.

Everything was great, Eduardo was a very good host. Very kind and attentive and the house was great.

I got proposed to at this stunning mountain cottage in Penha Longa, and it was truly perfect. The home was immaculate—spotless and beautifully maintained. Our host went above and beyond, booking us incredible dinner spots and even helping to arrange a magical photoshoot the next day. Fresh bread was delivered every morning (so delicious!), and the hidden shop on the property was full of charming local gifts. The flowers were in full bloom, the mountain air was refreshing, and even the freezing pool turned into a core memory. Communication was flawless and the hospitality unmatched. I wish I could come back every month. This stay will forever hold a piece of my heart. I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone that needs to get in touch with nature and peace with themselves. It’s so quiet and feels like the cottage you would dream of. The pictures don’t do it justice. We are so so happy and will be back. I have never felt able to leave a true 5 star review could be left until Javalina.

Cannot say enough about this place, its everything it says and lots more. The ladies that service the property along with preparing breakfasts were simply awesome. Aurora's chocolate cake was a hit, and we had it for dessert and breakfast! The location and views are postcard perfect and that comes with some nervous driving to get there, but once you know the quirks really not that bad, just be careful. Highly recommending this to friends that are planning a trip to this beautiful part of the world.

Well located, spacious apartment. Close enough to walk into town, but a little outside the tourist frenzy. Marta was a gracious host, meeting us outside in the rain to help us park our rental car and show us around the apartment. She left a wonderful selection of food for our breakfasts, plus useful materials for us to plan our visit. We used four comfortable bedrooms and the common, comfortable living area. Would recommend this property to friends.

Juan was super helpful and provided basic breakfast items, which helped as we were tired and reached the apartment in the evening due to the electricity breakdown in the country. The apartment is the same replica of what's in the description, very comfortable and cosy. The washroom and towels were clean.

Place even better than the pictures! Mayte is a great host and super super recommended. The place is spacious and with an elevator. Just 20 mins walk from the cathedral. The only catch of the area, which is not the floor, is that the parking for motorbikes on the street does not seem to be very well received. When we arrived there was no motorcycle, and at night someone shot the motorcycle that my brother had parked, who was coming with her from Madrid. Motorists: park inside, Mayte has a wonderful garage for it.

Everything was excellent! The house was pristine and had everything. Gelines was very friendly and helpful. He left us coffee, breakfast pastries, fruit, milk, juice, etc. We come to Leon every year for a sports competition and it was next to the pavilion, we will definitely stay here again in the following years

alex's house is particularly nice, the set up is beautiful, and there are snacks, also to help us keep our luggage

Fantastic weekend at Nuria's apartment. She is very nice, friendly, attentive, formal... Everything good you imagine. We had the option to leave later than the hour, which is thankful infinite. The apartment renovated and decorated very tastefully, with very curious details. Very clean and with everything you need to spend a few days. We were 3 and we didn't miss anything, and comfortable in terms of space. It's on a pedestrian shopping street in downtown, just a 5-10 minute walk from the Plaza Mayor, for example. The parking lot is spacious and very comfortable to have it in an area where it is not usual, it is next to the street of the apartment. The WiFi worked properly and the heating as well. I don't know if I forget some important point, but if I forget what I could write it would be a good thing for sure. It's the best Airbnb I've ever stayed in. If I have to go back to Valladolid, I won't hesitate to come back here. Thank you so much for everything Nuria!!! 🫶

Amazing and perfect getaway from the city to the peaceful countryside. This house was all what we wanted! Juan was very communicative and Graça who met us there made us feel immediately at home. Her breakfasts were amazing and beautiful organised. Definitely recommend. We will come back in the summer as well.

Hello , the experience was the first and I value it as very good , maybe if I have to make a constructive comment I was missing some more towels and the room somewhat narrow . Otherwise great . Rosa is a very correct woman

Quinta da Xandica, located just outside of Valença do Douro village, was a fantastic, and unique experience. It’s rare these days to find an Airbnb hosted by a “real” (boots on the ground) host who is not only there to share local knowledge and accommodates your needs, but literally who also welcomes you in to the ACTUAL family home. It reminded me of a traditional bed and breakfast, in all of the best ways. (Including a lovely breakfast in a dining room!!!) The Quinta was home to Matilde”s great grandfather, and is shared today with her grandmother and father (three generations). It’s a working farm, and an all around charming, beautiful place. Even during our unseasonably rainy visit, the grounds and area was stunning. Practically speaking, the bed was comfortable & the water hot. Dinner made by Matilde was a reasonably priced and delicious with estate wine. We also thoroughly interaction with other guests, the chipped dog, “Bill”, and access to the surrounding area. A treasure!

Our stay at Quinta Dos Carqueijais was a perfect 10/10! We chose the Villa das Oliveiras, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surroundings. It truly feels like you're immersed in the forest with beautiful views of the lake. The entire property is seamlessly integrated with nature, creating an idyllic setting for complete disconnection. The accommodation itself is stunning, perfectly equipped, and incredibly comfortable—far better than what you might expect from the photos. The breakfast is plentiful, with great attention to detail. Additionally, we had the chance to enjoy the spa facilities, which include a jacuzzi, sauna, massages, and a heated indoor pool, all at a very competitive rate. Quinta Dos Carqueijais is the perfect place to unwind for a weekend getaway or to celebrate a special occasion near the Peneda-Gerês National Park

Clean, well organized. You get a lot for the money! Bus nearby as is a cafe and bar.

They were extremely friendly. Nice place to stay. Mr. Antonio has welcomed us very well. You let in early and leave after time making it easier for the children to eat. Shared space being that the owners live there but respectful of guests and privacy.
