Bed and breakfast holiday rentals in Douro River

Quinta da Xandica, located just outside of Valença do Douro village, was a fantastic, and unique experience. It’s rare these days to find an Airbnb hosted by a “real” (boots on the ground) host who is not only there to share local knowledge and accommodates your needs, but literally who also welcomes you in to the ACTUAL family home. It reminded me of a traditional bed and breakfast, in all of the best ways. (Including a lovely breakfast in a dining room!!!) The Quinta was home to Matilde”s great grandfather, and is shared today with her grandmother and father (three generations). It’s a working farm, and an all around charming, beautiful place. Even during our unseasonably rainy visit, the grounds and area was stunning. Practically speaking, the bed was comfortable & the water hot. Dinner made by Matilde was a reasonably priced and delicious with estate wine. We also thoroughly interaction with other guests, the chipped dog, “Bill”, and access to the surrounding area. A treasure!

We really enjoyed our stay with Marta. She was always there when you needed something or had a question and was always friendly. The room and the kitchen are actually really hard to order as described, but the pictures look a little different than in reality. You can also make some cornflakes or bread for breakfast in the kitchen, but of course you can have a better brunch in the city centre of Porto. Nevertheless, we felt very comfortable and cannot criticize anything about the apartment. Three successful days for us.

Very nice owners who make you feel welcome. We enjoyed the swinningpool and garden. Breakfast was well taken care off. It's in a quiet envirement, but with the car you can go to Ponte de Lima, Braga or Porto. We enjoyed our time here!

They were extremely friendly. Nice place to stay. Mr. Antonio has welcomed us very well. You let in early and leave after time making it easier for the children to eat. Shared space being that the owners live there but respectful of guests and privacy.

Amazing 400 year old home, has always been in the family. The outside garden and pool are beautiful and peaceful. Small town near by with good quaint restaurants . About one hour from Douro Valley by a beautiful drive through back country roads. Highly recommend it

beautiful home in rural and quiet area of Aveiro, bordering on a natural area. There are good bikes available with which the city and the nature reserve are easily accessible. Ana and Francisco are friendly and mindful with tips about the region.

I had a pleasant stay in this spacious cottage, the room is beautiful, clean and large. The common areas lack brightness but are spacious and warm. It's a cottage so cleanliness and tidiness are everyone's business… The village is very small, the only entertainment is the local bar but it's worth it because the people are very warm. There are games for children and a church near the cottage. I had a pleasant evening with the people at the cottage and those in the village.

Perfect location, we had all the comfort we needed In the chale and waking up to all this nature couldn't ask more! Sr Carlos was a true super host!

A small but very cozy and clean room with a bathroom in the main street of a charming mountain town with loads of places for great walks in nature. It was very easy to find and to park the car just right next to it. The breakfast in morning was a really nice addition and our doggie was welcome everywhere, even at the restaurant, which we really appreciate!

We absolutely loved our time at Cidália’s beautiful property. Cidália and her son Aderito were amazing hosts and wonderful people. The room was comfortable and had stunning views (including rainbows). The breakfast was fantastic and filling. When paired with the view from the balcony made for amazing memories. We had dinner at the Quinta one night and we are so glad we did, so good! Highly recommend and hope we can visit again one day.

It is a Lovely place in the middle of nowhere (that nowhere you have to take literally), great views on the mountains. The hosts were very caring and with a lot of knowledge of what to see or visite. Great place to really relax.

We had a very quiet night at this cottage. The room was very well equipped, comfortable and the neighborhood is particularly quiet. Check-in was easy, Leticia was there to greet us and explain everything. The only note we have to make: the listing indicated breakfast which was not the case for our stay. (Leticia was not there in the morning, we couldn't ask her the question). But overall the night was perfect!

Celia, a hostess who is always attentive to your needs. Flexible and easy check-in. Accommodation in the centre of Manzanares, allowing you to enjoy the atmosphere of Manzanares. Clean and tidy home An excellent choice.

Wonderful house! We felt right at home, hosts made us breakfast every day, and gave us excellent recommendations for local food and activities. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in Tondela and looking for a peaceful, relaxing place to stay.

Very large house with everything you need. There were 14 of us and we occupied 7 rooms, each with a bathroom. The refrigerator failed and Tiago replaced it the same day. Perfect place to visit the Douro and the surrounding towns but a little far from Porto. Access to the house is via the back street.

A really lovely room just like the photos. The family were all very welcoming and helpful. They allowed us to check in early as the room was ready and looked after our bags on our last day .We had a fantastic meal one evening in their restaurant, not to be missed . The only down side was it’s a reasonable walk to the old town of Porto but if you don’t mind that it’s a lovely place to stay

Very nice room, centrally located. Kurt is a very warm host. Good tips for the city and excursions in the area. Highly recommended. We will be happy to come back.

Lugar da Pedra Altra is a very special place, the host were very helpful and we had a very memorable holiday. We stayed there as a group of eight, two families and we had enough space, and the breakfast that they supplied was very enjoyable. We would look to visit again in the future
