Chalet holiday rentals in Darwen

It’s hard to review a place that’s been so positively reviewed and say something original. We booked the Ferny Hoolet in order to cycle with our two kids (7 + 11). We rented bikes from On Yer Bike in Lancaster (expensive, but very good bikes & service). We got more than we wanted. The kids loved cycling to Morecambe & Lancaster and we loved getting into the hot tub after a hard day’s cycle. Highly recommended.

Gwen and Mark were both always friendly and warm on interaction, particularly on arrival and check in. Both were really helpful when it came to warming the hot tub and quick responses if we had any questions. Thank you for a perfect stay ☺️ Alex and Emma

Had a short stay at Barley Croft lodge. Ray was great he rang to check if everything was ok with our lodge and was very polite and helpful. The lodge is in lovely surroundings with lots to do locally. It was ideal for our 1 year old daughter who could wander on the veranda safely and look at the two donkeys in the adjacent field. The lodge has everything you need and is close by the villages of Melbourne and Breedon have places to visit. An all around great experience. Thank you Ray.

Our second visit and just as perfect as last time. Beautiful surroundings and a visiting sandpiper to the little pond outside. Great for walking and for getting into Ludlow where there is lots to do. Birdwatching heaven. Everything you need in the chalet and helpfully a crib and highchair provided also. Thanks again Debbra and Roger. And thank you for the recommendations! Will be back again when our little one is old enough to walk around.

We have just returned from a very relaxing stay at Katie and Clive’s beautiful accommodation. Spotlessly clean everywhere, comprehensively equipped and very comfortable, everything was of the highest standard and this included some really special and beautiful hand made wooden furniture in the house and garden. Katie and Clive were kind and communicated well and immediately helped set up a stake and line for our doggy who needed it (most dogs would be fine here without it, but he is fast and big , so it was helpful). I must mention the super comfy bed and lovely linen, so much attention to detail. The view from the terrace is amazing and we struggled to leave! All in all this was Airbnb at its best, Katie and Clive you work so hard to make this happen, thank you. Thank you very much for the lovely foodie gifts on arrival , very kind. We will return!

We have just returned from a lovely week's stay at Julie's. The cottage is located on Birchwood farm and is tucked away in the corner. Parking is right outside. Everything we needed was there for a family of 5 including superfast broadband. Beds were comfy and it's very quiet & peaceful. Home from home. There is lots to do around the area, you can walk to the local village of Cromford and many other places. through the woodland or along the Cromford canal. Matlock & Matlock bath are a short drive away. We would definately stay again.

Had a lovely few days in a peaceful location overlooking the lake - very picturesque. The caravan was bigger than I expected and very comfortable, especially the large main bedroom. There was a washing machine, dishwasher and a fully equipped kitchen. We enjoyed our stay very much and would love to return. We would highly recommend a stay at Joanne's caravan. Thank you

Julian and Sarah Jane’s house was beautiful. It was lovely and warm when we walked in due to the brilliant under floor heating. The house was modern and very bright inside. It was spotlessly clean and smelt amazing as well. The house was well equipped, everything was there. All the appliances worked very well. The bed was super comfy and big. Great views from the house and peace and quiet everywhere. Julian had left lots of little extras which were greatly appreciated. He provided warm throws and binoculars, bird books and more. They had thought of everything one may need on a short trip. We were very lucky with the beautiful spring weather and enjoyed sitting on the deck in the sun. All in all, a really good stay. The best Airbnb we have stayed in so far! We will return for sure.

Independent restaurants & cafés in Stroud, which has the famous Sat farmer's market. Painswick also has a farmer's market on a Thurs a m & hot takeaway in the p m at The Painswick Centre, which has a cafe & shop selling local arts and crafts. In addition there is The Falcon, Le Papillon, The Oak, St Michael's and The Painswick.
