Holiday rentals with lake access in Whakatane District

The cottege is literally on the east end of Te Unerewera NP on the Rainforest Route, a perfectly idilic spot in NZ nature. Jane and Leon share their home with us/you as a guest and make a real and great effort to feel at home. Both of them are very welcoming and always good for a proper cosy chat about culture in NZ or anything else. It was a real pleaseure sharing their home and we would go back allways!

Lovely welcoming bach close to the lake. The photos don't do the house justice. It was very comfortable and well-decorated, plenty of space for a family of four, and nice to have a fire for colder nights. Kitchen had everything needed, including a barista-level coffee maker and baking supplies. Lovely sheltered deck for sitting in the sun. Lake Rotomā main beach is a few minutes drive away, it is clear and clean, great for swimming even in April. Our dog enjoyed his stay. Good to have a fenced back yard/deck. The road that runs alongside the lake was busier than we were expecting with cars and lorries. This didn't bother us and we slept well. The village store and cafe a couple of minutes' drive. Nice walks either end of the lake and Waitangi Soda Springs is 5 minutes away by car - well worth a visit for a hot soak, friendly welcome, simple but great vibes. Lake access from across the road for paddleboards. It was perfect for what we were after, a lovely relaxed holiday.

Our family of 2 adults and 4 teenagers stayed here after an overnight tramp- Edward’s place was 5 star luxury!! The shower is awesome, there’s a washing machine and dryer, a SMEG dishwasher, SMEG oven and a fridge that makes ice! All the appliances and fittings are high-quality. Everything feels really nice. Lovely beds and linen. Awesome view from the deck. Essentials like oil, vinegar, tea, coffee and coffee plunger are in the well kitted out kitchen. We enjoyed cooking a hearty meal playing cards and watching a movie. It is minutes from Lake Waikaremoana great walk start or finish- perfect location.!

Another great stay which is perfect for our fishing trips, always warm and cosy and enough room for our large group.

Great long weekend catching up with family - spacious home, clean, tidy and comfortable. Peaceful location. Great views of the harbour, convenient shop and cafe around the corner, playground down the round. Worked really well for our family group including an active toddler.
