Holiday rentals with lake access in Te Waipounamu / South Island

Amazing stay!

The cottage was so delightful and was sunny and warm. You can see it was decorated with love! A bowl of fruit greeted me on the kitchen table and the kitchen had everything one would require. Cereals, tea, coffee and plunger coffee! and Milo. Milk in the fridge. Sugar cubes and raw sugar along with oils for cooking. And everything that was stated on the Airbnb site. It was across the road from the amazing Pākawau Beach. I lay on the deck at night and spent ages looking at the amazing night sky from this Dark Sky property. A great area for biking with so many walks and areas to explore. The hosts Jean And Bruce were just lovely. I live only a couple of hours away in another lovely spot but I won’t hesitate to book myself in for a few days for rest and relaxation and maybe share it with friends, if they are lucky! One of the loveliest stays I’ve had and felt privileged to stay on a dairy farm where four generations have grown up. Wonderful!

We made a huge mistake when only booking this place for part of our stay. My thought was to jump around the South Island with my family at a couple stops. Had I known it was this awesome, then I would’ve booked our whole time at Anna’s. This place is exactly what my family loves. The kids will definitely be complaining about where we stay next. This property is AWESOME.

We absolutely adored staying at Te Awa Lodge on our recent trip to Wanaka. It was a gorgeous riverside home with an amazing hot tub and sauna, which we loved using after our hikes. Graeme and Carolyn were such warm, welcoming hosts and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The property is easily accessible to Wanaka (10-15 min) and Mount Aspiring (1 hour) . Would highly recommend to anyone in the area!

Really nice peaceful property. Location was great only 2 minute walk from lake Manapouri, which is beautiful, as well as general great views in the surrounding area. Makes for a good base to go to the Fiordland National park, around 2 hours to Milford sound. Place itself was spacious and had everything you would need, comfortable bed, kitchen, parking. Carolyn was a great host too, would recommend.

The location of this home in Kingston is just breathtaking. The lake, the mountains, the quaint little town -- all of it is perfect. It is a 45-ish minute drive from Queenstown, but that was a plus for us as we had day trips planned to Milford Sound and Invercargill. Plus, the drive to Queenstown is so beautiful. The house was very clean and cozy. We made ample use of the washing machine (which conveniently has a dryer option as well). I would highly recommend a stay at Ian's.

We had a wonderful stay at Jan’s place. We loved all of the details and the interesting art, books and furniture. It felt really homely and there were lots of helpful and thoughtful touches. The beds were all really comfortable with lovely fresh linen. Jan was an incredible host who really made sure that our stay was enjoyable. She was accommodating with a few last minute changes and always responded to messages promptly. We will definitely be booking a stay at Jans the next time we are in Otematata.

This is the place brings you peaceful mind. Will definitely bring back my parents here next time. It's so quiet and private that you can only hear the birds chirping. It's like the real-life ASMR that can calm you down. I really like all the facilities that keep guests stay warm. For example, the cap in the shower room, heating pad for every bed, and aircon is also available. Also we had several animal visitors like bunnies and a cat. Very nice and cute.

Loved the place. It was exactly as described and better than I could imagine. Everything was easy and smooth. Lyndal is always there to help you with anything. Overall, great way to make our Queenstown trip memorable.

Had such a lovely stay! The place was perfect - super clean and tidy and very comfortable and cosy. Location was close to the lake and only a short drive to town. Hosts were so lovely and left great instructions and local recommendations which was much appreciated 😊

The best Airbnb stay we have had to date! Such a beautiful property right on the lake with water views. The property has access to the Queenstown trail that takes you directly to Queenstown and connects to many other beautiful trails that you can walk/bike. The property is exactly as described but the photos do not do it justice - we will definitely be back!

The kitchen is well-equipped, the interior is clean and tidy, and there is an intelligent ventilation system. Parking is convenient. The surrounding environment is quiet. It is highly recommended for people who come to Queenstown and don't like the noise of the city. It is also relatively close to Glenorchy for horse riding. I look forward to having the opportunity to experience it again!

The place has a balcony that faces Lake Wakatipu. Great views. I managed to capture few pictures of southern light from the balcony. The place is near to alot places. My family loved the place. i really recommend this place.

Really enjoyed staying here for a night and wish I could have stayed longer. If you're bored of cookie cutter IKEA catalogue corpo Airbnbs, then this is the place for you! Completely charming and very individually styled. The bones of the place are an old school with that lovely mix of commercial and municipal styles. The renovation has been done really lovingly, with some joyous touches. Will have to come back one day to use the pizza oven. Thank you so much!

Clare’s place was fantastic. So so well appointed with everything you could possibly need - it was so well considered. The location was stunning and perfect for a chilled cosy weekend in front of the log burner. Instructions for check in and the house itself were super easy to follow and Clare was brilliant for communication. Highly recommend adding on the spa pool for a relaxing soak overlooking a gorgeous view.

Beautifully kept farm home in pristine country side. Close enough to surrounding towns to enjoy their amenities. We were graced with snow fall for the duration of our stay which made the home even more cosy to be in.

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at the cottage. It was so cosy and everything had been thought of - comfortable bed, skylight for stargazing, outdoor bath and even slippers. We appreciated all the baby items that were set up and the toys and books. It’s in a great location and a short drive to so many great walks and scenic spots. Excellent cottage! Beautiful courtyard, nice view and quite. There is a red folder provide all information including home appliances manual. Welcome cookie and warmfirplace have been set up before arrived. Highly recommend for all Airbnb user!

One of the most spectacular Airbnb's we have ever stayed at. The view is sensational and it is a lovely, peaceful setting. The Airbnb itself was modern, comfy and clean. It was well appointed with a full kitchen and well stocked supplies. Bedrooms were comfy and there were modern, clean bathrooms. Te Anau is a great place to stay as a base for trips to Milford or Doubtful Sound. Black's Hut is around a 30 minute walk to the town centre, slightly longer if you take the very scenic route along the lake edge. There are no busses or taxis. All and all it was a fantastic stay and comes highly recommended.

Very roomy and comfortable accommodation. Large bathroom with a fabulous tub. We used the washer and dryer…very handy. Heated floors kept the place warm and cosy. Kitchen is well equipped. Would stay there again. Thanks Peter and Yanli.

Absolutely fabulous place. Photos don’t do it justice. The views are amazing. Quiet but walkable location. Very well stocked. The only thing missing were screens on the windows and sliders. I got eaten by sandflies and a white tail spider. Wear deet even (or especially) while sleeping.
