Places to stay in Devon
This cosy cottage is the end terrace of Bakers Cottages, the oldest row of cottages in the sought after estuary village of Lympstone in East Devon. Lympstone has a small shop, cafe, post office and a variety of pubs and is the perfect location for access to Exeter or Exmouth by bike or foot (along the Exe Estuary Trail) or by train. The Estuary is a 15min walk from Bakers Cottages along quiet Devon lanes, or through the village.
8 Bakers Cottages has an open planned downstairs, including kitchen, dining and living space and opens onto a sunny patio area and small enclosed garden. The cottage dates back to the late 1600s and combines cottage charm with modern finishes and cleanliness. Upstairs are two bedrooms and a bathroom. To the rear the cottage looks out over neighbouring gardens and fields. The simplicity of the cottage decor and the setting provide a relaxing feel.
Lympstone is a thriving and characterful estuary village. You can buy fish from the village's own fisherman, or sit on the beach by St Peters Tower. The Estuary can be enjoyed on bike along the acclaimed Exe Estuary Trail with good cycling routes into Exeter and around the Estuary nearly entirely on non-traffic cycle paths. Or cycle to Exmouth and on along the old railway line to the seaside town of Budleigh Salterton. You could take a ferry across the estuary and stop off at the Exe Estuary cafe moored in the middle of the river for panoramic views in a unique location.
  • Gorgeous cottage with really special touches of care. Arriving late on a dark rainy night in December to a twinkling Christmas tree and the smell of fresh bread was just what we needed after a long drive.

  • Absolutely lovely. Very clean and impossible to fault anything at all once you've found the stealth cutlery.

  • Magnificent house. Beautifully decorated and very cozy

    Isabelle2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very nicely furnished, welcoming and really comfortable. We very much appreciated the supplies left for us and found it to be a warm and welcoming space. It had everything we needed and the location was excellent, too. Thank you very much indeed for your hospitality.

  • David was a very friendly and helpful host - on arrival we were delighted by a freshly baked loaf and a bottle of wine - a wonderful touch! The cottage has a lovely homely feel and had everything we needed to cook. The location is great and despite black clouds we managed some lovely walks around the local area. Al in all a really great stay!

  • This place is absolutely superb. I stayed for a week, in between moving houses in Exeter, and while it was a 30-minute cycle into work the route was lovely, right along the canals of Exeter. If you are planning a walking/cycling/peaceful break in the Devon/Exeter area, to explore the countryside, then this is the best place for you. It is situated on a smallholding just outside Exeter and Marian, Adam and their two children were one of the nicest families I have had the chance to meet. They were extremely welcoming and always keen for a chat. Adam, William and George were very knowledgeable on their football which was great for a few chats about the Premier League and Exeter City. The room itself was excellent, with plenty of storage space and a very large on suite bathroom. It is a superb AirBnb.

It is very close to Lympstone manor (main purpose of our visit). Breakfast was brilliant with such a large choice, and the knowledge on the local area is excellent. Thanks again

  • I visited my partner at Lympstone camp with my daughter, Carols place was the ideal location as only a 5 minute drive away. She was very warm and welcoming, she also went out of her way to offer us a wide selection of breakfast. Her place was very clean and just as described. I would definitely recommend for a short stay.

    Jessie2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Carol's place is very well located for holiday or for work, being very close to the main road into Exmouth. Her care of guests is outstanding and the views from the house are very nice too. Especially recommended for access to the Devon walks and a la ronde. Practical and romantic mix together very well here.

    Mike2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Carol is very nice and welcoming. The room is very comfortable and the full breakfast. In addition the house is very well located. I highly recommend.

Guests will need to being bed sheets, pillows, sleeping bags, duvets etc to make up the bed area. The cabin is well insulated and keeps toasty warm with the wood burner going. If stocked up, it will burn right the way through the night keeping you warm the following morning. • Perfect for an escape. We live locally and just wanted a night away without having to pitch a tent in the looting rain.

  • A nice cosy retreat in a very out of the way location, although the instructions provided are excellent and we found it with no problems. It is *very* basic but comfortable. Recommended if you like the idea of camping but not the practicalities of putting a tent up!

    Jason2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic little getaway, perfect for privacy and relaxing. James has made a perfect place which has everything you might need and more.

    Sarah2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place! Like camping but more homely and nice and warm with the wood burner for winter. Had a brilliant time and loved the style of the self-built cabin.

    Elizabeth2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy little place! Sleeping area is a little small so might not be great if your not a fan of small spaces! We loved the log fire and would love to stay again in the summer!

  • Top notch, everything we expected and more. There’s no problem keeping warm so long as you can light a fire. Would certainly stay again

    Adam2019-11-24T00:00:00Z

Periscope Cottage is a charming two storey, two bed maisonette on Topshams' most prestigious street. It's been beautifully modernised to a high standard and benefits from beautiful estuary views. The property has a large open kitchen/diner/lounge, family bathroom and downstairs cloak. Ideally located within walking distance of Topsham town centre and only 100 yards to the Quay. There are plenty of shops and cafes in close proximity, plus pubs and restaurants for your evenings entertainment.
Spread over two floors the property has its main reception space (with bay window) on the 1st floor to take advantage of the lovely views. This open plan living space has plenty of room to relax on the sofa in front of the wood burning effect stove, plus a small dining table and stools for meals. The stylishly designed kitchen is off the main living space making for a sociable atmosphere. On the same floor is a good sized double bedroom and bathroom. The lower floor has the other double bedroom and downstairs WC and a small covered courtyard at the rear for storage of bikes etc. We have provided a travel cot and also 2 futon mattresses for additional guests to stay in the lounge if required with a wooden room divider located on the landing by the bedroom.
Topsham is a fabulous town with independent shops including a butchers and greengrocers located between Exeter and Exmouth. Located on the banks of the river Exe, time flies by watching the boats or a gentle stroll. Having a strong historical maritime heritage makes Topsham very picturesque but still industrial.
  • Brilliant location, very clean and easy check in. We loved the living room in particular, a really stylish space with outstanding views of the boats and estuary. Thanks for a great stay will return.

  • Periscope Cottage was a very nice place to stay right in the centre of attractive Topsham with the river, the quay the independent shops and good range of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Very easy access to Exeter and Exmouth by train or bus. Parking was not difficult to find on Holman Way (in February). The house has been very well converted from a former warehouse with careful thought given to layout, design and furnishing. Everything was there for self catering. Very warm and welcoming. Good Wifi. Lots of short and longer walks from right outside the house. Good information provided by the host and books and games to play as well. Highly recommended. John and Joan, Taunton

My place is a self-catering cottage, ideal for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. Also, great for walkers and cyclists and for visiting Exeter, the lovely Exe Estuary and the South Devon coast. A great village location with shop and pub 50 yards away, with easy access to the A38/A380. The cottage ideally suited to 2 or 3 people.
Cherry Tree Cottage is a charming, homely cob cottage in a village setting, in the heart of the Kenn Valley, and only 5 miles from the city of Exeter. The convenient location, just off the A38/A380, gives easy access to the coast (10 miles), the Exe Estuary Cycling and Walking trails (which runs from Dawlish up to Exeter and Topsham and onto Exmouth), and the stunning Dartmoor National Park.
Kennford is a small, friendly and welcoming village. The neighbouring village of Kenn is 1 mile away. There are lovely walks around the valley where you can gain fabulous views to the estuary, Exeter and to Haldon Hill.
  • The photos of the house really do not do the cottage justice! Beautiful decor ! The town is so inviting with great people in it!

Sandra and Steve welcome you to our home which is a little fisherman's cottage 5 paces from the estuary foreshore. There are 3 pubs and a train station just a few minutes walk away making Exeter and Exmouth easily reached . Situated on the ground floor with it's own bathroom (our accommodation is on the 1st & 2nd floor). Dressing gowns, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities, Wi-fi and TV are provided. Continental breakfast inc. No additional charges for cleaning, laundry or a deposit.
If you love cycling the village is on the estuary trail. The location is perfect if you are into kayaking. If attending the marine camp this is a 1.5 mile walk along the estuary trail or a 2 minute train journey. The village church is a 5 minute walk away if coming for a wedding. If you are a "foodie" and want a special treat Michael Caines restaurant at Lympstone Manor is just a 15 minute walk away. There are 4 pubs in the village all of which serve food - the Redwing is the most popular and normally requires a booking. There's an excellent train service just a few minutes walk away that can take you to Torquay, Barnstaple and Exmouth.
The Village is really pretty, very quaint with a small harbour. The pubs all serve good food and are within a minute or two's walk.
  • Great location - modern clean bedroom and bathroom

  • We had a lovely few days with Sandra and Steve. Their house is beautifully situated right on the water's edge. Lympstone is a very attractive village with a railway station and a good range of pubs. There is also a small village store and post office. The room was sparkling clean and Sandra provides a good breakfast. Ideally situated for walking the coastal path. Would stay again.

  • Great stay in a lovely space very close to the water in Lympstone. Despite arriving during the hectic run up to Christmas we were made to feel very welcome, and were well looked after. Would definitely stay again! No hesitation in recommending.

  • Don't miss out on this beautiful experience . This place was much more than I ever expected it would be. Beautiful scenery, wonderful location, excellent hosts and to top it all off amazing weather.

    Timothy2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Sandra’s was a delight. Lympstone village is on the Exe estuary with rail, cycle and walking routes to Exmouth & Exeter. Sandra’s compact fishing cottage was fabulous... with estuary foreshore almost literally on doorstep (20 paces). We had use of bedroom & bathroom which were clean, warm & comfortable but not particularly spacious as it’s a traditional fishing cottage. Sandra provided a fabulous breakfast choice. We stayed with our dog and we felt welcomed rather than tolerated. Due to narrow streets there is no parking at cottage. However parking fees at local village car park were reasonable and a 5 minute walk away. Bottom line.... would I recommend... absolutely YES.

    Sian2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning location. Very welcoming hosts. Comfortable and great facilities. Loved our stay. A great place to escape to, surrounded by a beautiful coastline and very accessible for travelling to other locations. Throughly recommend a visit.

  • Wow what a lovely place Lympstone village is and our accommodation was first class and everything we hoped for. Great hospitality given by Sandra on our recent visit and nothing was to much trouble, thanks for the nice parking space 😃 and the great recommendation to eat at the Globe Inn, was lovely. Really appreciate being able to have breakfast provided during our stay and no pressure needing to rush as it was nicely laid out so we could enjoy our lie in. Would we stay again?? You bet we will. Thanks again Sandra

The room is lovely, and with the sun room is much bigger than expected! We also loved using the bikes to ride along the bike path. Thanks Graham and sue!

  • Thanks so much for a lovely stay! Such lovely hosts. As soon as they realised we were coming on the train to exmouth, they offered to collect us from the station. They warmly welcomed us and showed us around. Their place is larger than it looks from the picture and the sun room is a fab place to eat and relax! We really enjoyed the personal touches like biscuits and shampoo etc. It’s a really well thought out space, with everything you need. The bed was super comfy too! I was visiting my boyfriend at Lympstone and it was the perfect location for that. Will be recommending.

Top floor room with views over the river Exe estuary and sea. The room is in a Georgian listed building that is full of character. We are in the pretty estuary village of Starcross opposite the train station and next to bus stops so ideally placed to explore the local area including Powderham castle which is in easy walking distance. The room is on the second floor with the bathroom (shared with the owner) being on the first floor. Parking is available at the rear.
The room is light and airy, with no one else using the top floor. There is a breakfast bar where breakfast items will be provided. This includes, tea, coffee (instant and filter), jam and marmalade, butter, cereals and juice. there is a Spar a 5 minute walk for bread and milk etc. A toaster and kettle is provided, there is also a fridge.
Starcross is a small village within a SSE nature reserve famous for bird life. The village has a well stocked local shop, chemist, charity shop with cafe and two pubs. There is a pitch and putt golf course in the village and we are on the national cycle route. The house is in easy walking distance of Powderham castle that is well worth a visit and has many special events on throughout the year. There are two pubs serving food in the village a 4 minute walk away and two pubs in the next village (Cockwood) that is a 20 minute easy walk or 3 minute car drive.
  • Convenient location, opposite the train station. If you are interested in visiting Exeter or Exmouth it is a short train ride away. Room is nice & clean.

  • A lovely, warm and spacious room near Starcross station. Dave was very responsive to our questions. The breakfast/coffee bar and desk/chair are all nice touches!

  • A fantastic stay at Dave's place. The separate document he sent out with tips and parking guidance was very helpful and we found a great place to eat thanks to this information also. The fire was lovely and the hot water bottles were a lovely touch. If we come for more events at Powderham Castle we will return to Dave's place!

    Nicola2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • It is always about people, and Dave was great and showed amazing care. Easy to check in, was in touch asap when we needed to ask for something, kind, his place was super easy, cozy and I had one of my best times there ever. So I am not going to forget about Daves place. The energy of easiness just brings easiness to your day...

    Rose2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely comfy room with everything you could ask for and the view across the harbour is exactly as described. Easy to find parking and Dave was great helping us find the house and even checking what we would like for breakfast in advance. Perfect.

This one-bedroom apartment, located directly above the local cafe, is great for singles or couples. It has a self-catered kitchen with all the amentities you will need. Located right on the High Street, you are walking distance to the town and train.
This place is perfect for couples who want to be in the heart of Topsham. With the option to eating and drinking whilst being right next too the water. If you love food and Dines there is nothing like Topsham!
Topsham is an attractive town on the Rive Exe, in the England's Westcountry. Topsham offers river walks; wildlife; a Saturday morning market; many characterful shops, restaurants and inns; and quiet space to sit and watch the sailing boats go by.
  • Lovely cozy apartment in a great location. Warm welcome and great hosts. The cafe downstairs was an added bonus. Would definitely recommend.

  • I found the Zephyr apartment really cosy and comfortable. The building itself is quirky and full of character. Check in is fuss-free and Martin communicated with me clearly prior to my stay. The apartment was extremely clean and all the appliances seemed new and worked well. Essentials such as coffee, tea, sugar and milk were provided which I really appreciated as I arrived quite late in the evening. Washing up liquid, a cloth and a tea towel were also supplied. Pots, pans and crockery were adequate and I was able to cook breakfast and a few evening meals without bother. The living/dining area has a really comfortable sofa, foldaway table and chairs. The bedroom is cosy with a hanging space and chest of drawers. Perfectly adequate for my 5 day stay. A good hairdryer is also supplied. I can also say that the bed was super comfy! I slept really well there. The bathroom is quite spacious with a shower, stylish basin and toilet. There is also a small storage area where there is an iron, ironing board, first aid kit and additional storage shelving. All in all, a lovely, private and comfortable apartment in a prime spot in Topsham. I really loved staying there as it felt like a little home-from-home whilst I was working away. I would definitely book to stay there again.

  • Great apartment ideally located within a couple of minutes walk to the centre of town and right by the quay. The flat is ideal for a couple. As advertised, Parking can be difficult as the flat is by the quay and the end of the town. It is located directly above a busy cafe which isn't a problem unless you need a lie in! Otherwise a great flat to explore a Topsham and environs.

  • Great. Met all our expectations and a perfect location for exploring town. The only downside was it was noisy as we had to sleep with the window open! However that’s to be expected with a central location in a heatwave!

When renovating the property a few years ago it was always with our future guests in mind. The king-size bed with feather eiderdown helps to ensure a great nights sleep and then wake yourself up in the large en-suite shower room. Open plan living upstairs with a comfy large sofa allows you to kick back in front of the fire and enjoy the 32inch TV.
Outside: decked terrace and enclosed lawn area with seating and BBQ.
Just over half a mile from the doorstep is the Exe Estuary, where guests can enjoy a relaxing stroll towards either Exmouth or Topsham. Set on the edge of Lympstone village which offers a choice of public houses, a village store/Post Office and a coffee shop. The estuary trail from Exmouth to Exeter is popular with walkers and cyclists. The seaside resort of Exmouth is close by with it’s cliff top walks and stunning views of the bay, also with sand dunes, rock pools and seaside attractions. Darts Farm with it's award winning farm shop is within easy reach as is Topsham. The Exe River café (seasonal opening hours) is accessed via boat and is well worth a visit. The historic Cathedral city of Exeter is a short drive, train or bus ride, the Roman Quarry Caves and Seaton Electric Tramway are also nearby. Exmouth beach is just 2 miles, shops and pub within walking distance.
  • This is the second time I’ve stayed at this beautiful property and I had another wonderful stay. I really enjoy staying here, it’s extremely cosy and has a homely feel. It’s always so clean and tidy and Sarah is a wonderful and friendly host. I highly recommend staying here.

  • What a beautiful barn, the perfect location for a cosy weekend away. Great location just a stones throw from Lympstone, the exe estuary costal path and darts farm. A real home away from home and Sarah was a fantastic host. We will certainly be back.

  • This is the first time I’ve used Airbnb and the bar is set very high. Sarah is a great host. Sarah welcomed us on arrival and had the log fire already lit which, instantly created a warm homely feeling. Home made fudge too yum. The accommodation was spotless with everything you need for a self catering break or lots of lovely pubs cafes if you want to eat out. The accommodation has a secure outside area where we could let out dog out or just through the gate and through the paddock (all secure) a short walk to the estuary. You could visit this beautiful accommodation anytime if the year and have a relaxing and enjoyable break. I’ll definitely be returning, I can’t recommend this enough whether you have a dog or not.

Close to the town centre, no problems with parking, my home is a lovely place to stay for a seaside break or to make a business trip more comfortable. It is 30 minutes by car to Exeter and ten to CTCRM. A 15 minute walk takes you to the shops and 5 more will take you to the beach. There are lots of restaurants and pubs in town, as well as a cinema and indoor swimming pool. The kitchen can be arranged for you to use as it suits both of us. This house is gay friendly. I do not have pets.
This bedroom is heated and has a lovely double bed with memory foam mattress. A chest of drawers is available for you to unpack into, and bedside table with drawers. There is a TV with Sky and other channels. There are tea making facilities in your room and you can use milk from the fridge downstairs. There is free wifi and a hairdryer. The bathroom is shared and has a bath with a walk in shower and toilet. Bath towels are provided as well as bath robes for you to use while you stay. Also beach towels are available if needed, just ask. The modern kitchen can be arranged for you to use as it suits both of us. I'm very well acquainted with East Devon so can advise you on many things to do.
A nice quiet road, just off a main road. Well behaved neighbours and plenty of on road free parking. The town is close as is the sea. The start of the Jurassic path walk is 2.5 miles. There is an estuary walk to the little village of Lympstone which has a couple of good local pubs for a drink or a meal.

  • Sue was very welcoming and friendly. Even though she was just nipping out when we arrived, she took the time to show us where everything was and explain how everything worked. Light, warm, modern but cosy; ideal as a base for visiting East Devon. Off road parking and easy access to Exeter by bus or train. Walk or bus to Exmouth town centre. Close to the Exe Estuary cycle routes. Use of lawn for croquet and childrens' games. Safe, quiet and private. International guests, walkers and cyclists very welcome.
Easy access, all on one level. Special requirements can be considered. Your hosts Sue, Tim and Serena live and work in the area and will be happy to help you to have an enjoyable stay.
Besides being surrounded by National Trust (NT) countryside we are close to curious 'Al la Ronde' which is also a NT property. Less than 5mins walk in one direction is a Coop (0700-2300) store for all your food needs including fresh bread; whilst less than 5mins the other way and you can be on NT link to the Exe Estuary cycle/walking route.

    Bev2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Sue are charming and made us feel welcome from the start and they took trouble to make sure everything was fine during our week-long stay. The bungalow is very spacious and we were delighted with it - the photos don't do it justice! The sofas in the lounge and the dining table have also changed and make for a more modern look. The property is light and spacious with two outdoor spaces, one with decking and a fabulous view over the garden and across Exmouth and beyond and the other on the opposite side of the property features a barbecue. The kitchen is well-equipped with a modern oven/hob and lots of kitchen utensils and cooking equipment. There is a washing machine but no dishwasher. One bedroom is large with three single beds (two in a bunk bed) and room for a travel cot. The master bedroom is comfortable and light. Sky Internet WiFi connection is very good indeed. In terms of location, it is a very short drive to supermarkets and a petrol station. It's located near (20mins walk) to the National Trust property called A la Ronde. It's also very close to the Exe Estuary Trail, which was a lovely walk into Exmouth. We went all the way to Orcombe point. The walk was lovely and super buggy friendly too with many nice pubs en route in Exmouth. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The Warren is a very spacious flat for two and up to two well behaved dogs, easy access makes this versatile for the very young or more mature. A fenced patio is a secure area for your pet and to offer privacy from our resident peacock!! The fully fitted kitchen has all the mod cons, and the sitting room has a very comfortable settee leading onto a king sized bedroom with ensuite. We are blessed with a great village pub which provides excellent food within walking distance.
Beautiful gardens, overlooking the fields with sheep or horses.
Kenn is a beautiful country village close to Exeter and the M5. Dartmoor National Park is just 20 minutes drive, for stunning views, pubs and food. The beaches are just 7 miles away, The Exeter canal and Exe Estuary Cycle path is an easy 10 minute drive. Bike hire on the Quay in Exeter or the Quay in Topsham are recommended
  • 5 stars, we had a great time, cottage is perfect with everything we needed and is lovely and cosy. • Lovely, place to stay, very comfortable apartment, lots to see when sitting out on the terrace with breakfast, or in the evening as the guinea fowl, peacocks, horses and other animals were a source of amusement and interest. The bread from the on site bakery was lovely and Mandy was very welcoming, knowlegable about the area and quickly resolved any small issues we had. The leys pub (a 5min walk), Powderham farm shop with a lovely walk to the estuary along a deer park, and the lovely (dog friendly all year round) beach at Dawlish Warren are close by and well worth a visit. Thankyou for a relaxing stay.

Large country house - lots of space for all, making for a comfortable and more private stay. 4.5 miles from the city centre & 12 minutes drive to Exeter's beautiful quayside. Easy & quick access to A38, A30 & M5 motorway. Great base for Exeter/Dartmoor & coast also great for business travellers with easy access to surrounding business parks -one mile up the road from the Devon Hotel.
Large and warm dual aspect double room in Peamore House. Newly refurbished to a high standard with beautiful Carrara marble ensuite bathroom.
I love Peamore House and the Peamore Estate - it is a semi- rural location set in a small parkland of ancient Oak Trees, Pheasants and Rabbits often with herds of Cows grazing right next to the house. Even though it is rural it is just about 10 minutes to central Exeter. This stately home is now divided into three dwellings with No.1 being the largest and grandest dwelling - retaining the Ballroom and sweeping Cantilevered staircase. The house has a 1000 years of history and dates back to Anglo Saxon times, is in the Doomsday Book had a revival in Tudor times where it was owned by the Duke of Suffolk ( Lady Jane Greys father) and subsequently was bought by Lord Kekewich in the 1700’s whose family remained right up until 1948. The house was remodelled by Nash and Repton in the 1820’s.

  • We had a fab time staying at Marcus’s place, lovely room with beautiful bathroom and all in room facilities including kettle, coffee, tea etc. The house itself is brilliant, a real local treasure with a really interesting history and heritage, great to hear some of the intrigue of its past from the hosts. The main house is gorgeous with a lovely grand hall, where we were invited to sit by the cosy fireplace and relax. Marcus made us a delicious hot breakfast, made to order, and eaten in front of the fireplace. Communication regarding our stay was quick, easy and efficient. Great hosts! We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend!

  • Wow! That is all I can say really. My husband and I had a fabulous night at Marcus's home. The house is absolutely stunning throughout but the room is gorgeous. Bed was super comfy. Marcus and his partner don't bother you so you are left to your own devices unless you want to interact with them. Nothing we asked was too much for Marcus and his hospitality was second to none. The Old Surgery is a ground floor single storey annexe to New Place which is an architecturally designed house with surgery built for the village doctor in the 1950s. Since the doctor retired in the early 80s the surgery rooms remained untouched until recent renovation and even had a stethoscope still hanging on the back of the treatment room door. The accommodation has gas central heating throughout and consists of lounge/diner with sofa bed, kitchen, wetroom shower with wc, double bedroom.
Dogs are welcome by arrangement so please let us know on your booking message whether you will bringing a dog/dogs for your stay. There is a charge of £15 per dog per stay payable on arrival. There is one step up into the accommodation which is then all on the same level. The Old Surgery rooms are: Lounge/diner with 4'6" sofa bed, armchair, dining table and 4 chairs, 32" Freeview TV and nest of tables. Kitchen contains single hide and slide electric oven, microwave, 2 ring ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster and the cupboards and drawers are well stocked with crockery, cutlery, utensils pots and pans etc. Wetroom has walk in dual shower with fixed and flexible heads, bathroom cabinet with basin and mixer tap, comfort height toilet and is heated with both underfloor heating and radiator. Double bedroom has king size double bed with storage drawers, double wardrobe with full height hanging space and 4 drawers, Lloyd Loom chair, full length mirror, twin wall lights over the bed. The garden, drive and parking spaces are all level with no steps. The accommodation is well screened by hedges and trees and is not overlooked by any other properties
The Old Surgery enjoys a quiet location on the fringe of the village and is further protected by a 3 acre paddock surrounding the house and garden. There is a network of paths and quiet country lanes leading to the west or level walks around the village and towards the Exe estuary and cycle path to link up with the local bus route or mainline railway station or passenger ferry to Exmouth. The Powderham Castle and estate grounds are just a 15 - 20 minute walk either across footpaths and country lanes or via the main road.
  • We stayed at the Old Surgery for 4 weeks in between house moves, it provided the perfect the solution! We would highly recommend this for any one needing to stay for more than a few days. Keith & Ros went out of their way to help us throughout our stay. We simply cannot fault it!

Our home is lovely and quiet and very private. It’s a two minute walk to the centre of the village and a ten minute walk to Powderham Castle. Kenton has 2 lovely restaurants and a homely pub plus coffee shops and foodie places in the grounds of the castle.your bedroom has a tv and we have WiFi. We include cereals, toast, orange juice, tea and coffee for breakfast included in the price.
This is a lovely place to be. The transport links are good but it’s lovely and peaceful. You may get woken up by birdsong or a pheasant!
Kenton is a small traditional village close to Exeter. Exmouth, Dawlish and Teignmouth are also close plus Powderham Castle of course.
  • We had a fabulous stay with Bev. The room was just perfect. Exceptionally clean, quiet and perfect to get to Powderham castle. Would definitely recommend.

  • Communication was fantastic through the whole process. Bev was really helpful with checking in early as we were attending an event at the castle. The room was lovely and light. Everything was lovely and clean. The decor in the house is fab! Bev was friendly and helpful and we would book again for future events.

  • We can't fault our brief stay in Bev's lovely home. She was welcoming and friendly, but not overwhelmingly so - perfect for us. Our room was comfortable and, along with the bathroom next to it, immaculately presented with excellent attention to detail. Toast and coffee for breakfast was all fine and enjoyed in attractive surroundings. Very happy to recommend this to anyone who is lucky enough to be visiting the lovely area around Kenton and the Exe estuary. Best wishes, Andy and Karen

Wile away the hours amid acres of ancient woodland, soaking up the magnificent views of the Exe Estuary. Exeter Lodge's location will appeal to everyone, sitting just outside the historic city of Exeter. Perfect for unwinding.
The lodge is a spacious two bedroom house which sits within an acre of land including a beautiful orchard. All the sounds you can hear are of owls, deer and birds throughout the day. The master bedroom houses a super king four poster bed and the second bedroom has a double Victorian framed bed and a triple bunk bed. the kitchen is well equipped with everything you would need. The house has its own bore hole and both the hot water and heating is run by a dual biomass boiler.
The house is situated in Oxton, just outside Exeter, it is one of three gate houses to the manor house called Oxton House. To get to the house you have to drive through beautiful ancient woodland and once you get to the top the trees clear and it opens out to an amazing view over the Exe Estuary as well as Dawlish Warren and Dawlish. It is set deep in the countryside but is still only ten minutes from the outskirts of Exeter. The area is perfect for walking, cycling, riding from just outside the front door. There is plenty to see, including local beaches, museums, theme parks, boating, canoeing, and so much more.
  • Lovely clean little house with amazing views of Devon! The hot tub was great (maybe could do with a light outside by the hot tub though as it was very dark getting in and out!) everything was lovely and clean and tidy and Nicky was really helpful when we got lost. Don’t follow the postcode as it takes you to the wrong village! Nicky will email you instructions. It was a great place for a break with friends and we would love to return again!

    Rachel2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • We chose Exeter Lodge for a number of reasons but were amazed actually at exactly how lovely it was. It was bigger than I think the photos suggested with a beautiful feel, excellent facilities and wonderful fixtures and fittings . We did not use the hot tub but in warmer months I can imagine it’s fabulous as the views are breathtaking. We are Super Hosts for Airbnb also and know how difficult it is to maintain a 5* rating with guests expecting so much these days. Everything about Nicky’s place deserves a 5* rating. Nicky was wonderful and when I mentioned the WiFi wasn’t working (after a storm) she came straight over and fixed it immediately. The master bedroom was fabulous with a super king bed (something we always look for) & a huge TV on the wall. The bathroom has a huge free standing bath which was great to come home to after a near freezing day out. Similarly the log burner in the dining room was perfect and we lit that (we did buy kindling etc at the local garage as were unable to successfully light it without) and sat in front of it drinking wine, eating bread & cheese and playing cards for a perfect evening in. Yes, as some people have mentioned it initially feels like a long way up a narrow country lane but this is part of the charm of it. Don’t let that put you off. Every time you drive it it seems shorter and the views and the lodge itself it so very worth it! If you book Exeter Lodge I cannot imagine you’d be anything other than delighted that you did!

    Liz2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay and relax! Hot tub was fantastic!

    Kirsty2019-11-17T00:00:00Z

  • This was the second time we have stayed at Exeter Lodge. Still fantastic and still the best Airbnb (by a mile) that we’ve stayed in. We had a lovely break and certainly don’t plan on waiting three years before we return again !!!!

  • This property, location and scenery is absolutely breathtaking, myself and my family didn't want to leave, from start to finish our week was incredible. We spent many a night in the hot tub star gazing, we went cycling, saw an air show, visited a donkey sanctuary, went on a steam train and boat trip and visited several beaches, we couldn't of asked for anything more. Breathtaking. Great location, stunning propertyand views, great communication, very helpfuland informative.

Lovely cottage, 30 second walk to the Estuary and the village harbour. Easy access to the South West Coast path and located on the Exe Trail Cycle Path. The village has excellent public transport links with Exeter and Exmouth, the train station is located less than a minutes walk from the cottage, from there Exmouth is only one stop away taking 4 minutes and Exeter in only 18minutes. There are 4 great pubs and a Michelin Star restaurant called Lympstone Manor. A great place to come and visit.
  • We had such a lovely stay at Marks cottage and looking forward to visiting again. We visited for the weekend for my mum's birthday with my partner, our 2 children. Mark gave us lots of tips before we arrived of places to visit and hidden beaches. We arrived by train and didn't feel the need for a car as the train stops at so many beautiful beaches (we walked to Exmouth and got the train back). Marks cottage was really well equipped, with everything we needed and more; a wood burner, movie projector and a reclining sofa, lots of games and some lovely art work! We hope to visit again, thanks again for a lovely stay :)

    Florence2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mark has created a great home away from home, I stayed at the house with my 20 month old daughter and her grandparents and all of us were very comfortable. The log burning fire kept the house nice and toasty and the games cupboard kept us all happy on a wet and rainy evening. Thank you Mark.

    John2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • a superb little house in a great village , 3 pubs/resteraunts within a few yards and station 100 yds away ,house is spotless , you couldnt ask for better location ....

  • Lympstone is a great base. Mark's place was lovely. A home from home in a great location.

    Charlotte2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place in a great location! Easy walking to train station, walking paths, beach, 3 local pubs with good food and drink, and a local market across the street. Cottage is lovely, with nice decor, fully usable kitchen, customizable lighting, upgraded bathrooms, games, log burner with plenty of spare logs and kindling, TVs on every level with Amazon Prime and Alexa, wardrobes with hangars available, candles romantic mood lighting, plenty of space, and clear instructions. Can't say enough about the nights we spent sitting in front of the fire watching movies and relaxing! It's also situated directly on the cycle route around the Exe Estuary, so bicycles are a great thing to rent in one of the nearby towns. Parking can be tricky - if you can't grab one of the few spaces in front of the Swan Inn or in the train station, there is the Lympstone Village Car Park on Underhill about 1/4mile walk down the road and across a small walking bridge (2-3 pounds per day). Recommend stopping briefly in front of the door to unload passengers and items (not much traffic down the small dirt road next to the Swan), then parking car in car park and walking back the cottage. For any prospective foreign travelers renting a car, smaller is better for parking in many English towns :) All in all, tremendous place and a perfect way to spend our holidays!

Apple Blossom, nestles into a quiet rural meadow, bordered by a bubbling stream. Wonderfully fitted out inside, this is a miniature home from home with the added luxury of a full-size hot tub. The small wood-burner throws out an enormous amount of heat should you need it although there is also toasty under-floor heating.
For cosy evenings in there is even a flat screen TV with DVD player! The kitchen is fully fitted and the shower-room has a heated towel rail. The full-size bed has a thick mattress ensuring a good night's sleep. Outside is a private secluded sun terrace with complete with deckchairs for relaxing in the sun after a soothing hot tub
The huts are situated on the edge of the village of Kenn. Our amazing thatched pub and church are within a few minutes walk all on the flat! Just 15 mins walk in Kennford there is a 7 day a week shop and post office, they sell just about everything. Powderham Farm shop is 10 minutes drive in Kenton where you can buy lovely local meats, cheeses, wine and much more, well worth a visit.
  • We would definitely recommend Mandy's Apple Blossom shepherd's hut. Such a comfortable place to relax and unwind. Clean and cosy. Beautiful view outside with the river and the trees and birds.just down the road a lovely pub to visit to.

    Donna2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Apple blossom is a beautiful and relaxing stay. Private and peaceful, the shepherds hut is a home from home and has everything you need for a break away from busy life. The homemade baked bread was a lovely addition! The hot tub was a bonus which helped us to relax alongside the sound of nature. Mandy was so friendly and helpful, the area is a perfect location for Exmouth and Paignton beaches as well as Dartmoor National park. Would definitely stay again!

    Hannah2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Mandy is a lovely host, extremely helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the shepherd's hut was warm and welcoming and the hot tub even in the cold weather was lovely. A very romantic way to celebrate New year.

  • Great facilities and great local pub

    Steve2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from our stay in the hut and had the most perfect and relaxing stay! The hut was in a beautiful and quiet location with lots of privacy, but still only a few minutes walk from the local pub which I highly recommend. We went for steak night on Friday and Sunday roast and both were delicious. There are also a few lovely walks around including Canonteign Falls a short drive away. Mandy was a great host and we would love to return in the future :)

    Jess2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at the Apple Blossom Shepherds Hut, it was very relaxing and peaceful. We loved visiting Canonteign falls, Powderham Castle, Darts Farm and Brixham - all great recommendations from Mandy. The hot tub and log burner made it a very cosy stay!

    Sophie2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Apple blossom shepherds hut is an amazing place to stay. We had our 3 night mini moon here away from our 2 children (once of which is 18months and teething) It is such a peaceful relaxing place away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The hot tub helped with the relaxation and the log burner made the hut incredibly cosy . The local pub is incredible and we had a delightful dinner on the Saturday night and enjoyed the band they had on later in the evening. Make sure you book. The hut was idle for getting in the Exeter and and the surrounding areas. Mandy is a fantastic host and her advice on tearooms and the rest of the local area is excellent. We will definitely be coming back

The Annex is a luxury apartment in the beautiful Exe Estuary village of Exton. It has breathtaking views across the river Exe to the foothills of Dartmoor. It consists of: a fully fitted kitchen/diner with dishwasher, washing machine and microwave; a large bright lounge with a 4ft sofabed, large flat screen TV with Sky TV (includes Sky sports); an en-suite bedroom with 5ft queen bed and TV with Sky package; an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. All towels and bedding are included.
Flexibility is the Key - we always try to be flexible and The Annex also offers flexible accommodation. The Annex is a self-contained and private apartment with its own entry gate and front door. A key safe to provides a totally flexible check-in experience for our guests. We always respect our guest's privacy so we usually make a quick visit to ensure they have everything they need and thereafter if they need any assistance, we are usually next door or available by phone. We think that The Annex is ideally suited to a family of 2 adults and (up to) 2 children. The lounge is a generous size (see floor plan) and has a 4ft sofa bed (too small for 2 adults) which easily converts into a double bed. The kitchen/diner is also large and, along with a fully fitted and equipped kitchen, it can comfortably seat four adults for meals. The Annex is also ideal for couples who are looking for more space than a hotel room can provide, and perhaps prefer separate living and sleeping accommodation.
Staying at The Annex means that you can see a lot of Devon, rather than just a little of it. Despite its country location, it is just a short walk (an even shorter cycle) from the local pub/restaurant, train station, bus stop and The Exe Estuary Trail. The trail is a purpose-built track which follows the route of the River Exe and the Exeter Shipping Canal. It is flat, safe and easy to navigate and the views are stunning. We provide two complimentary bikes to give you the opportunity to explore the Exe Estuary Trail.
  • Great location

  • Carol & Paul are fantastic hosts, helpful pre-booking responding to any questions quickly, allowed a late check out on the day with no fuss, the house is immaculate and has everything you need. Thoroughly recommend, beautiful view from the garden.

  • Fab apartment, near to all local amenities. Lovely walks , train station to Exeter and pretty local villages. Wonderful friendly accommodating hosts . If you have a dog have no fear all their needs are catered for too ! Would definitely recommend.

  • My husband and I stayed in the annex for a week, late in August. We were visiting family close by and it was an ideal base for us. We didn’t have a car for our trip, but as the local station is a ten minute walk away we could easily reach Exmouth, Lympstone, Topsham and Exeter during our stay. The annex is clean, bright and enjoys calming open views to the estuary. Carol and Paul were welcoming, allowed us our own space and privacy but we knew they were close by if we needed anything. The place is well equipped and more spacious than we imagined. All in all a lovely stay!

This apartment sits above the towns lovely, local cafe and offers great access to the High Street, Estuary Quay, and the very popular Cycle Route. With a 5 minute walk to the train station, and a 1 minute walk into town, this apartment has it all!
This place is perfect for couples who want to be in the heart of Topsham. With the option to eating and drinking whilst being right next too the water. The day bed, which is in the lounge as sofa, can become 1 or 2 singles or join to make a double.
  • Stayed here for a cheeky weekend getaway with the bestie. The apartment was beautifully clean, really cosy and incredibly comfortable (world's most comfortable bed). Perfect location and very easy to access. Doesn't hurt to have a lovely little cafe below either. Top stay.

  • We are a family of 4 who stayed in the Monmouth apartment for 2 nights. It was very quiet and comfortable, very well located and conveniently above a terrific cafe! I would definitely recommend it!

    Sarah2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as advertised. Right in the center of town. Came without a car (took a taxi from exeter st. david's) and didn't need one the whole weekend because everything was so close. Was here with wife and infant, highly recommend to stay.

  • Had a lovely few days at Devon& Paul's place. It was really warm and cosy and communication with Paul was very effective. We also appreciated being able to leave our bags there for a few hours after checking out. The location was great with easy access to the shops, restaurants and train station in Topsham. Having Exeter nearby was a real bonus too. Would recommend Paul's place for a relaxing mini break!

    Christine2018-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very cute place to stay and it’s situated above a great cafe that makes great food and coffee (often extremely hard to find England). Paul was very friendly and helpful with local knowledge and nothing was a bother for him. I would definitely recommend this place if passing through Devon county.

  • Loved our stay, great flat. In the perfect location everything so dog friendly made our trip very special - thank you! Pink & Pallet was fab too, mini beach area great run around and museum hidden charm. Highly recommend staying in this fab base in such a lovely town.

  • Great place, tasteful decor, easy to communicate with, warm welcome and lovely little town with pretty walks and easy to get in to Exeter by the little train. Thank you v much

  • A great location and lovely flat. Paul's communication was very good before and during the stay- answering all my queries. I left some belongings behind and Paul kindly sent them onto me. Nothing was too much trouble and they were great hosts. I highly recommend Devon and Paul's place.

This is a very peaceful and happy village, where you can relax with family and friends, enjoying the 5 gastro pubs and a Michelin Star restaurant, just a short walk away. The estuary cycle and walking path is a great attraction; as is our little train that runs from Exmouth to North Devon. Exeter is just 20mins away by train. Perfect for access to coast and country and plenty to do, for all ages, on a wet day too!
We are in a modern home, on a new estate just 5 mins walk from the very old village centre of Lympstone. It is lovely and quiet (only the sound of the church clock bells) where we are. You can find everything you need in our pubs, shop and fresh fish from our local fisherman Jason on a Friday. Exmouth beach is a lovely walk/cycle (along the estuary path) or 5 minutes on the train. Darts farm is in the opposite direction on the path. There’s so much to see and do here, for all ages. I have lots of information leaflets here.
This village is unique and it feels like ‘it has it all’ as well as great transport links. If you like the countryside, or coast... bird watching, sailing, fishing, horse riding, cycling, running, fine wine/dining, farm shopping, or just enjoying our slower pace-of-life... come to Devon!!
  • Great hosts! Great value for money . I would certainly stay again and I certainly recommend it. Thanks jenni
