Embrace the quirky, cosy interiors in this romantic getaway. Open the doors to the terrace, and let the sounds of nature waft through the lodge. Fire up the BBQ, enjoy a good meal and then spend the evening in the hot tub gazing up at the stars.
Located in one of Maidstone in Kent's oldest roads, neighbouring buildings used to provide accommodation to pilgrims on their travels to Canterbury in medieval times. Perfect for anyone looking to get away from it all and for those looking for something different, the quirky interior of the Lodge is an eclectic mix of vintage and modern. It offers a romantic hideaway, with exclusive use of the brand new hot tub jacuzzi directly outside your door, and a low height mezzanine sleeping area on a futon mattress, in the double height roof where you can star watch in bed, listening to the local owls. The fully equipped, open plan kitchen/lounge area is cosy in the winter with underfloor heating, and equally delightful in the summer when the bi-fold doors can be opened up to enjoy BBQ's on the deck. With Wifi access, Bose mini sound system, Nespresso coffee pod machine and a flat screen TV, you can also keep in touch with the outside world if you really want to. The Lodge is perfectly located for those who want a car free holiday in the corner of our 1.5 acre garden, about 60m from the main house. • We had a lovely stay at this very stylish cottage in Bearsted. The house was easy to find and within walking distance of the village. It was thankfully very cosy, which was much appreciated as we visited it on a cold, windy and miserable weekend. The size and layout was perfect for us and our 2 children. The house was extremely clean and the beds were very comfortable. The hot tub is a real bonus! Barbara was an excellent host - she was very responsive and sent a very detailed welcome email with lots of useful information in advance of our trip.

    Ella2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancé and I had a lovely relaxing stay here. The place is cute and nicely decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed to do some cooking. The hot tub was the highlight!

    Shani2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend away. Although the weather was bad the hot tub was still available to use. All amenities were great and everything you needed was there.

    Elena 2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was just perfect

    Peter2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I fell in love with this place based on the photos and it looked exactly the same in real life, which is always great to see. There were thoughtful touches added to make our stay special and the cottage was absolutely gorgeous both inside and out. The information provided on the local area was really helpful and Barbara & Mike were quick to respond to any questions we had. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone thinking of staying in the area.

    Paul2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay at and great location we had a wonderful couple of nights there and the host were extremely helpful when needed. Would stay there again.

    CrazyJames2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely home with lovely hosts! Barbara and Mike communicate very well and provide lovely little details such as a bottle of prosecco on arrival and a follow up message to make sure everything is okay on the first day of the stay. The home and hot tub are extremely well kept and warm and the area is very quaint and friendly. Lots of things to do a short drive away. There are a few pubs/restaurants within 5 minutes walk which are really nice to go to for dinner and a drinks. We are really looking forward to hopefully return again! Thanks for everything Rebecca

    Becca2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing cottage full of character which made my friend and I feel at home straightaway! It's cosy and warm, the kitchen utensils are amazing and the style was so unique. There were plenty of walks on our door step and we had dinner at the Oak on the Green which was only a few minutes away. I would highly recommend this place.

Fancy a short break from the everyday? Why not get back to basics in this beautiful hand made shepherds hut located in the heart of the beautiful Kentish countryside?
Set in 12 acres of beautiful Kentish countryside. This beautiful hut was designed and hand built on our family farm, it gives you a unique experience of living as our shepherds once would have done, albeit with the luxury of modern day life! So why not try a bit of 'glamping'? The hut has a fully functional kitchen, with hot and cold water to the sink, electric hob, combination microwave/oven, fridge, toaster and kettle. Plates, cutlery, pots and pans are all supplied. A small inbuilt table and two stools provide you with space to indulge in any tasty meals you have rustled up in the kitchen. Heating is provided from an electric heater situated in the kitchen plinth. A comfortable double bed to rest after a long day, with storage beneath to tuck away your suitcases. Bed linen provided. There is a small wall mounted TV with inbuilt freeview. A DVD player can also be found in the kitchen cupboard for those of you that fancy a chilled evening in. A separate toilet and shower room can be found on the side of the double garage in front of your parking space, towels provided. Guests also have the use of a small bistro table and chairs for those nights when you fancy a bit of alfresco dinning
I am the fourth generation of our family farm, where we have been since 1893. So it would be fair to say we love this area, and I'm sure you will too! Our country pubs make for a lovely atmosphere to relax, have a delicious meal and perhaps one too many drinks! There are a couple of popular ones less than a miles walk away. The area has plenty more to offer depending on what you're looking for. Leeds Castle and Scotney Castle are within a twenty minute drive. With many other national trust gems not to far away. The rare breads centre at Woodchurch is something for you animal lovers. Perhaps golf is your sport? Chart Hills is only 2 miles away, a brilliant course designed by Nick Faldo, and my brother in law is the resident golf pro if your looking for a lesson to hone your game! Headcorn airdrome is within walking distance, you may even be lucky enough to see acrobatic planes performing from the comfort of the hut! Or if you fancy a closer look there is plenty of space to set up a picnic or enjoy a bite to eat in the Wings Bar. The airdrome also hosts many events throughout the year which prove very popular and are well worth s visit. Biddenden vineyards with it famous Biddenden cider is in the neighbouring village or try some wine tasting at Chapel Down Winery in smallhythe. Explore some of the county's fantastic churches or visit some of its historic towns such as Canterbury or Rye. For those of you that fancy a little retail therapy a trip to Mcatherglen designer oulet in ashford or blue water shopping Centre may be up your street. I could go on forever but I'm always happy to advise if there is something in particular your are looking for.
  • Lovely little Shepard’s hut in a beautiful location. Dog friendly pubs ten minute walk away too! Can’t wait to come back in the summer. Thank you!

  • Absolutely stunning little shepherds hut. Much more spacious than we were expecting. I very very highly recommend staying here if you're wanting a quiet getaway from the busy city. 11/10 superb

  • What a amazing little place! It worth going just for the peace and quite. Really clean and tidy and a experience in its self. Definitely would recommend staying here I will also be going back

    Glyn2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely spacious Shepard hut, must bigger and warmer than anticipated. It warmed up very quickly. It was nice that the key was available in a coded box as sometimes when you met the host its often ackward.

    Steve2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the shepherds hut for two nights overall and we absolutely loved it! The place was amazing and beautiful. There is little lake outside the hut and you get enjoy great countryside views. There are lots of things to do around the area (visit the big cat sanctuary, visit the castles, or simply just enjoy the countryside). The area is very quiet and peaceful, but with a few groceries stores and cafes/pubs nearby (5-10 mins away by car). The hut was bigger in reality than what it looks like in the pictures. We had everything we needed and it was really nice that we were able to even prepare a meal if we wanted to. The heater would warm the hut quite quickly as well considering that it can be very cold during the winter. The check-in was very easy and quick and the details were provided in advance by Grant. The place was little bit tricky to find as we were not able to find the street name on google maps, but we figured it out easily following Grant's detailed instructions. Great place overall with nice little touches and clearly well cared by the host. Would definitely recommend without hesitation and would love to stay again soon! Thank you so much Grant!

    Angeliki Maria2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time in Grant's beautiful rustic Shepherd's Hut. He was a fabulous host and we would highly recommend this getaway. Great local pubs nearby and lots of lovely walks. Many thanks, Sophie & Reece

    Sophie2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our night at the hideaway. It’s a great spot to escape the city for the night. Went into the nearest village for dinner and drinks. Cosy on an autumn evening. A little difficult to find but Grant was on the other end of the phone to put us in the right direction! Would definitely stay again and recommend.

    David2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • By far one of the best value for money air bnbs I have stayed in. The Shepard’s hut was cosy yet spacious with everything you needed for a relaxing getaway. The location was fantastic and surprisingly secluded, we will definitely be returning in the spring.

Very light due to 2 sets of bifolding doors. Clean and crisp interior. Shower and sink only downstairs and the only toilet is located upstairs with another basin. King size bed upstairs and a day bed downstairs that can make into a king bed. We also have the facility to have a mattress bed in the floor if necessary for children.
This is a concerted weather board garage. A great open plan area downstairs provides a modern feel with but with the sloping ceilings upstairs it’s much more of a cottage feel in the bedroom. Please watch your heads in the bedroom! Their is a small courtyard to the rear of the property should you wish to sit outside
Harrietsham is a lovely village 15 mins drive from Maidstone 20 minutes drive from Ashford and 35 minutes from Canterbury. Leeds castle is a few miles away. Rye and camber approximately 45 minutes to an hour. All great for days out
  • Such a wonderful cosy hideaway in the countryside, yet close enough to many of the historic sites in Kent and towns too. The walks around Little Barn are picturesque and cover all levels from easy to hard. Little Barn has all you need for a long weekend to a week’s stay, great WiFi and a great shower. Julie is a fantastic host and really makes sure you are well equipped for arrival. Good for a small family and perfect for a romantic getaway for a weekend. Can’t wait to come back again.

    Rob2020-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely brilliant little place. Perfect for a weekend getaway. Very thoughtful, cosy and modern. Loved it the first time and loved it the second time!

    Beth2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for being a super host! The barn is amazing and has everything and more that anyone could need. We would recommend this place to everyone.

    Susie2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Julie for a lovely stay. The bread, Prosecco, biscuits, and chocolates, were lovely touches. The Little Barn was lovely, modern and yet cosy with lots of thoughtful touches. The location was ideal. It was a great get away for New Years! Will definitely return.

  • Had a lovely stay in the little barn and welcomed the little touches that made our stay great

    Tyrone2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful time. There were little touches that made arrival seamless and stress free; Julie was extremely thoughtful and definitely considers her guests comfort from the very beginning. It was beautifully presented and we felt very comfortable. We would absolutely stay again.

    Beth2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The little barn is a lovely place to stay. They have made amazing use of the small space and you can tell that they have really thought about how to make it a really great experience. The bedroom upstairs is right in the roof so you do need to be careful about hitting your head on the sides but it is a very minor issue as in the middle it is more than high enough to stand up straight. Overall a really lovely place to stay.

    Nicole2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Well what can I say? The bnb was outstanding! It surpassed any of my expectation, I couldn’t fault anything about my stay. First of all the hosts supplied us with a few essentials such as milk, bread, few snacks, beer and a bottle of champagne which is such a lovely touch! Everywhere is immaculate, the kitchen is stunning. Very well thought out especially with the designs. I just wish I stayed here for longer! I would 100% Recommend it for lovely weekend away as there’s plenty of things to do!

Please bring supplies from your home and avoid using local shops and services if possible while you are here or on your journey. 2 day maximum stay. Self check in and out - zero face to face contact. Stay safe ❤️ Wendy’s house is tucked into a corner on our beautiful campsite just on the edge of the woods that adjoins our gardens. Wendy’s house is around 17 sqm inside separated into two adjoining spaces. One comprises an antique iron, double (130cm) bed with comfortable mattress and warm clean bedding. The other space offers a single bed, the wood burner and a table. Warm your space with the little wood burner on which you can pop a kettle or warm some soup. A cupboard filled with dining and outdoor cooking gear and a dining table completes the basics necessary for a practical stay. We can provide a bbq grill and camping gas stove for your convenience. We are working towards an Off Grid solution but a small radiator, lamp and USB plug can be switched on in winter to help you feel cosy and connected. There are also battery lamps. There are 4 windows and a back door to the woodland balcony. The campsite bubbles with families and laughter during the busy holidays and settles down to complete peace on weekdays. Out of season ( Oct - march), when there are no campers, share the space only with the pheasants and the local wildlife as well as us and the family pottering around on one project or another. The facilities (Loos showers washing up, hammock deck, kitchen and covered lounge) are just 20 metres from the cabin. The space behind the cabin offers an area for outdoor cooking and dining with a great view into the woodland from the rocking chair on the little balcony. The property is around 7 acres including meadow woods and orchard and you are welcome to discover and relax in any of the areas open to campers. There is a covered shelter and lounge outside reception where you can charge a device, catch up on necessary work, use the fridge or purchase hot and cold drinks. During winter you can use the small kitchenette which houses our wood burner, and which has a kettle, coffee machine and toaster. Please note there is no Wi-fi but 4g networks are mostly good. Main parking is in the field away from the car free spaces but most of the time there is a space just behind the cabin to park your car if you don’t mind looking at it! It is also a good place to unload your stuff. Firewood for the campfire is not included but can be purchased on site. Firewood for the inside wood burner in is included in winter only. Extras to be booked with us at least two days in advance: Home cooked dinner - Delivered to your cabin at a time of your choice. Choose from curry or couscous £22 for two, or burritos £16 for two. All meals vegetarian. Vegan is no problem too, just let me know. Relaxing or healing foot bath. In the comfort of your cabin, with essential oils to suit the moment or personalised with home grown herbs to soothe your ailments. Towels included. £18.
When the campsite is open there is a lovely community feel and a great atmosphere as campfires are lit and feasts are prepared. At busy times chatter lasts into the evening but we try and keep noise low after 10.30 at night. At other times nature cradles our little spot on top of the hill and you can feel really protected by the surrounding trees. We are close to civilisation however and shops and pubs are a 10 minute drive at the most. The Pepperbox inn, a great pub with great food is a 20 minute walk across the footpaths. There is direct access from the woods to the greensand way offering miles of footpath walks across a beautiful ridge just opposite the North downs one way and overlooking the Weald of Kent southwards. Lenham village is a 10 minute drive, and you will find here a medieval village with a small selection of pubs cafes and shops. Leeds castle is a major feature of the area at about 10 minute drive. Wendy’s house is a great place to stay if you are visiting for one of their special events such as the classical concerts or fireworks, but is also a really great day out for visiting the castle and beautiful grounds.

  • We had a great 3 day stay for our anniversary hear and would highly recommend the cabin. We stayed here in winter and were expecting it to be rather cold but were able to keep the cabin nice and toasty with the log burner. Theres a fire pit just outside too where we cooked on open fire which was the highlight of the off-grid experience.

Guests use public footpaths and self-guided walks to explore the area.
  • My parents stayed here en route to Dover - they reported an excellent room with thoughtful touches. The room was clean and comfortable, and Marj was hospitable. The directions and local tips were extensive and very helpful, enabling a stress free check in. Thank you very much - highly recommended

  • We had a nice time. The cottage was really comfortable and the hospitality was great.

    Melanie2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely property, comfortable accommodations, and absolutely phenominal hosts, who have an amazing story and home. Wish time would have allowed us to stay longer. We were walking along the Pilgram's Way/North Downs Way- so if you are coming off the trail, it is about 1-2 miles outside of Lenham or Harrietsham. But it is definitely worth the excursion. Since we were walking the trail at the end of November Marjorie was very concerned with our getting there on time and gave us advice on walking the lesser roads so you can avoid the speed demons especially since dark comes at 4pm. The next day we stayed in a "posh" location which couldn't hold a candle to Marjorie's place for comfort, style, and value.

    Bruce2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Marjorie and family go out of their way to make your stay a very welcoming and comfortable experience. You will enjoy the unexpected extra little touches. We had a wonderful stay.

    Gillian2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place with unexpected surprises! Loved the Kentish cobnuts, and got really inspired by your self-sufficient way of life. Thanks Marj and Bill, we will definitely come back

    Jessica2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Marjorie was extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The space was stylishy and cleverly organised and we had fresh baked muffins and fruit from her garden for breakfast. We can highly recommend this place, together with its tranquil country setting.

  • This was the first time that I have stayed here and it will not be my last. On arrival the key safe was close by so it was easy to gain access. On entering the property the first thing I noticed was the lovely clean smell. There was a sofa bed to the left and a nice large double bed to the right. It was very cosy and warm. There was a small table with 4 chairs. There was a unit with a TV on top with Netflix and inside the unit the plates and mugs along with towels were located. The bathroom was a nice size with a small basin, wc and a thermostatic shower. There was also teabags, sugar and coffee. Looking out the windows to the rear you could sit and watch the chickens wandering about inside a large coup. Locally within 2 - 3 miles there are shops and pubs and a little bit further on is a small village called Lenham where there is an amazing Fish and Chip shop / Restaurant. Highly recommend this home to stay short or long term.

  • Absolutely amazing! We had an absolutely amazing stay at Emma’s Place the Stables last night! The stables itself were absolutely gorgeous and had everything that you needed for your stay from plates, towels, tea bags and bedding! It was lovely and clean and the underfloor heating made it all lovely and cosy! We had the pleasure of meeting Emma and she went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed, she even sent us photos of the go to takeaway and food places around the area. Our little Shih-Tzu come for the stay and she had a amazing time! She loved seeing the chickens for her little morning walk to the car. Mitzy felt really comfortable and at ease for her stay too. Emma was really accommodating for dogs and it was really nice to see the emergency vets number on the emergency contacts page, it was a really nice touch! Overall, I would definitely come back and stay with Emma again and would recommend to anyone.

  • This was our first stay at The Stables but our second stay at one of Emma’s places. And once again we where not disappointed, it was a nice size studio space and was stylishly decorated and very clean. It had everything we needed for our overnight stay at Christmas visiting family. And looking out at the chickens, horses and sheep while we had breakfast was lovely. Emma is a great host and is always on hand to answer any queries we had. We will definitely be back again. Thanks Emma

  • The most beautiful place I’ve stayed on air BnB. Such a friendly and wonderful host who added such beautiful touches. A really caring lady who has an outstanding place to stay. Me and my doggies loved it. Every little touch is just perfect. The biggest help is the gate from the kitchen to the living area, it’s so thoughtful means muddy paws can be cleaned before excited dogs explore ! It’s perfect. 100% want to be back

  • I stayed for over a month in Field View and really enjoyed my time here. It was exactly what I was looking for - a place to my own/spacious/ no disturbance, has everything I need, wonderful countryside at the doorstep and great hosts who were happy to answer any questions. A few highlights - the bed was very comfy (and I could be fussy with beds); the place was quiet at night (and I am a light sleeper) and tranquil by day; the Wifi inside the house was great; I loved the 'field view' and the friendly donkeys, it really relaxes me; loved the fireplace, keeps me warm and so cosy (the host supplies plenty of dried logs and chippings). On a warm day it was such a treat to sit at the garden table surrounded by nature, or go for a quick walk locally. Also the kitchen was pretty well equipped (full cooker/ oven/ fridge) so I had no issue cooking my meals. Gary/ Toni gave good directions on where to shop for groceries (plenty of options but you need a car of course). Oh and I received lots of free eggs from them, so another perk. If I am looking for another long stay I would love to return.

  • A lovely place to stay, great hosts, we could have happily lived there. Will definitely stay again, fantastic.

    Mel2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were very pleased with everything about our stay in this comfortable and picturesque setting. The hosts were attentive without being intrusive. Having the fire lit for when we arrived and leaving ample breakfast food and toiletries were lovely touches. We had a lovely time in the area - Smarden is a lovely little village and we’d recommend the chequers inn for dinner. Lots of castles and walks nearby too. The donkeys were beautiful and friendly and seemed pleased to see us whenever we came home. Thank you very much Toni & Gary!

    Laura2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Toni & Gary are superb hosts, we were lucky enough to be their first guests and boy were we glad to be. We celebrated Rachael’s birthday there and what better way to do that than to sample true 15th century English history. The beautiful annexe has ample space and is suitably equipped for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed so much generosity and friendliness from Toni and Gary and we would certainly pay ‘em another visit (and then ...recommend their place to everyone else -essentially we want to keep it a secret but that’s a bit meh ;) Once you’ve got acquainted with Deidre (the donkey) and her two boys, there is surprisingly quite a lot to see and do in the area especially with a big cat sanctuary (limited admissions), award winning vineyards, steam train, pubs all dotted about within very quaint and peaceful villages of Kent.

  • We had a great time, lenham is the hearth of Kent. Everything is close by. Londen can be visites by train in a bit more then an hours journey. Warmer castle en Leeds castle are our best daytrips that week. For new visitors is our advice to buy a heratige card for a week. Unless you don’t like castles. The house is tidy and tastefull. It was bigger than it appears in foto’s There is a big garten to play in, or to sit in and rest. The surrroundings are quiet, you can hear the trains sometimes, but you can barely hear them. We recommend this place for families, hikers or couples. Kent is realy worthwhile to explore.

  • Mark is a superb host, very thoughtful, his home is stunning. The cottage is set on a tranquil estate, its next to the main farmhouse. There is 4 acres of fields to roam around in. The property itself, immaculate, it has lovely finishing touches and Mark provides a helpful book with all the info toy would need for the property and area. I whole heartedly recommend both Mark as a host and his property.

  • Just what we needed a secluded, spotlessly clean, property centrally located in Kent giving easy access to all attractions. The property is very well appointed with everything we needed, we enjoyed outdoor eating in the sun both morning and evening. Excellent value for money.

  • Lovely place to stay. Amenities were spot on, location was perfect, hot tub impeccably clean and the hut cozy as expected. Everything was perfect, even with the intense fog. My only feedback is around the bed. It was a little hard which made for sore hips the following morning.

    Katie2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a great find. The views over the hills from the hot tub are amazing and it’s such a quiet and relaxing spot. The cabin is very clean and comfortable. We stayed in January and the fire keeps the place so warm and cosy. Our host was great at check in and then left us to ourselves which was perfect for what we wanted. The cabin has everything you need and couldn’t recommend it enough!

The Barn is a beautiful, 4 Bedroom, Grade II listed 17th century conversion, set in idyllic Kent countryside. It is the perfect setting for a family getaway and base for exploring the Garden of England and beyond. Sleeping up to 4 to 6 Adults & 3 to 4 Kids) the Barn is family and doggie friendly with plenty of outdoor space to relax and enjoy.
Our charming property is near the quaint vllage of Harrietsham found along a peaceful village lane. The Barn, with is many period features comprises of an impressive entrance hall with flagstone floor, sitting room with oak flooring and a wood burning stove. On the ground floor there is a family wet room, dining room with log burner, fully equipped Kitchen/Breakfast Room with stable doors to the garden. Guests can use the utility room, fully equipped with washer/drier and dishwasher. There is also a hidden snug (sleeping 1 to 3 kids serviced by 3 mattress on the floor) is the perfect hideway for kids! The staircase leads to a galleried landing with window seat which gives access to the 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom is a king size bed with ensuite and beamed ceiling also has a roll top bath. There is a separate WC servicing the additional bedrooms. Externally the driveway provides parking for several vehicles. The rear garden has a large decked terrace and built in bar and barbecue area as well as a playhouse. The barn is a very quirky property and has steps into it and once inside there are steps to the kitchen. So not suitable unfortunately for guests with any mobility issues.
This charming self catering Barn, situated close to the Kent villages of Harrietsham and Lenham and at the very end of a peaceful country lane, lingers onto open countryside. This part of Kent is renowned for its natural beauty. Walkers can step straight out onto the many footpaths which abound in this area of Kent. The famous "Pilgrims Way" walking route to Canterbury is accessible from the Village. Harrietsham village is a 10 min minute walk or a quick drive away. The surrounding villages boast lots of fantastic places to eat and drink. There is a village shop/post office closeby and 2 large supermarkets, in Maidstone and Ashford are within 15 mins drive. The fabulous Leeds Castle is on your doorstep (only 10mins drive) and has plenty to keep the kids entertained in the huge play areas as well as being one of the most beautiful Castles in England. Further afield there are wonderful gardens including Sissinghurst and Great Dixter to visit during your stay. Canterbury with its beautiful cathedral is also only a 40 minute drive away as is the seaside village of Whitstable.
  • A lovely and quirky barn situated in a pretty and rural location although it is quite close to the motorway (it can be heard from the house). Fantastic mod cons with things such as automatic lighting and lots of great TVs all over the house. Also two very nice woodburning stoves (we collected wood on our walks) which make for a nice and cosy evening. A sun trap garden at the back which is perfect for kids playing and would be gorgeous with a group of adults too. Big table for eating and very smart BBQ area (although we did not use it!). Nice walks from the house and Julie is a wonderful host, replying promptly to queries and being very accommodating.

    Sabine2020-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is beautiful, in a great location, and was like a home away from home during our New Year break. Would highly recommend.

    Katie2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our family have just spent a wonderful Christmas in the Barn, we all agreed it was one of our best times. The character of the Barn made it a very special place to be in for Christmas especially with all the lovely Christmas touches Julie added. We had so much space and enjoyed the wonderful log fires. Everything about the property was great. Our two eldest grandsons (9 and 5) loved sleeping in the hidden snug, it was perfect for them. The landing was a great space for all three of our grandsons to open their stockings on Christmas morning. The lounge was very comfortable and had plenty of room for us all. We would definitely come back here. Thank you Julie x

  • Absolutely awesome place and an amazing host. Second stay here for me and my colleagues and again I can’t compliment the stay enough! As my previous post says the place is amazing and so clean and comfortable. Julie has excelled in the hosting game this time. The boiler packed in on our second night and the barn started to get quite cold. I didn’t want to bother her as I knew she was travelling but I thought best to let her know the problem. She responded so quickly and had the problem sorted within 12 hours (it was evening when I messaged her) the issue was fixed and the barn toasty warm when we returned from work the next day. She did all of this from AMERICA! Wonder Woman comes to mind. Honestly this is the best place I’ve ever stayed and Julie is the best host! This Airbnb ticks all the boxes. If you come across it then get it booked, You will not be disappointed. Thank you so much again for having us. All the best, Ben & co.

    Ben2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing!! It’s decorated so nicely throughout the whole property. Super clean kitchen and extremely comfortable chairs, sofas and beds. Not one of my party had a bad thing to say about the place, it’s so good in fact we’re returning next week! We were all blown away when we got there and had a look around. Tvs everywhere, heated floor in the shower room, two sitting rooms, fancy flashing lights on the landing and even an Xmas tree in the hallway. Also the bath in the master bedroom has little hooks to hang your iPad on whilst you’re soaking. I was like a prune when I finally dragged myself out of it :) It’s honestly so nice here. Mind your head though, low beams everywhere. I learnt the hard way Haha. I miss being home because of work but for the first time ever I’m actually looking forward to working away. There’s a couple of pubs, shops and some takeaways 5 minute drive away and excellent links to the m20. Do not hesitate booking if you come across this place!! Thanks for having us, see you next week.

Light, airy large spacious studio above detached double garage. This studio has lovely high ceilings although some are sloping in the bed area and in the bathroom. The views are truely breathtaking, of north downs. Fantastic location close to both M20 an M2 so good for exploring all areas of Kent, or as a break on your journey. Located in Detling village so walking distance to the Kent County Showground, where regular large events are held. Also a short distance from Leeds Castle.
Happy to have 1 or 2 well behaved dogs stay however they must be kept on leads whenever outside the property as we have cats and a dog in the main house.
Detling has a lovely local pub and restaurant, and there is a village shop and post office next to the children’s playground. There are fantastic walks along the downs so a great location for a walking or exploring holiday. We are close to both the M20 and M2 so great for exploring Kent by car or for a break on a long journey to the channel or ferries. We are in the heart of the country whilst being very close to major amenities, and Maidstone, the county town of Kent, is a short car or bus journey away. Leeds castle is a short drive away and is well worth a visit if you have time.
  • Lovely studio in a charming part of the world. Very well equipped and attractive. Jayne was very helpful and friendly.

Our 18th Century Barn is a newly refurbished private annex forming part of a country house set in seven acres of garden and paddocks. The barn is self-contained with many original features and benefits from a quiet location with easy transport links. Located in the historic village of Little Chart, a small village near Pluckley and about 6 miles north-west of Ashford in Kent. We are ideally located for country walks, cosy country pubs or a stop off en route to the continent.
The Barn was converted in early 2019 and brought back to life a delapitated barn used to keep animals in the 18th Century, the Barn is located on the entry to the Surrenden Estate and is part of a listed property dating back to the 15th Century. The Barn is situated away from the main house and has its own south-facing patio area. Guests have access and use of the main garden and children’s play area with swings and climbing frame. The Barn comprises a double bedroom, kitchen/diner/lounge (with sofa bed for extra guests), shower room, own front door. TV in the lounge and wireless internet. There is plenty of parking space and access is via secure entry gate into a private drive. The barn is surrounded by fields and you are welcome to help yourself to fresh eggs, apples, pears, plums and quinces when in season. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the English Countryside at its best whilst still remaining close to all amenities and road and rail network. It is a very quiet and secluded site.
Little Chart is ideally located in a picturesque rural area surrounded by orchards but is still very accessible from the M20 and A20 making it a great base for exploring the Kent Countryside. The Stour Valley Walk, which follows the Great Stour river, and the Greensand Way, from north to south, are both routed through the village and can be picked up directly from the house. We have a very welcoming traditional 15th century country pub, The Swan Inn, within walking distance of the barn. The pub has a riverside garden with children’s play area and offers delicious homemade food should you not wish to use the cooking facilities. The Pluckley farm shop is a 5 minutes drive away and it offers a variety of fresh produce including local wine and Kentish apple juice.

  • Lovely place, with a very friendly host ! Lovely cottage

  • Katie and her husband were great hosts. The hard floors made the place a little cold, but once it warmed up it was very cosy. The only other criticism was there was no soap. They did provide bread, milk and butter which was a nice touch. House itself is in a nice quiet location. Would recommend a stay here.

  • Thoroughly ideal retreat for couple or family right in the heart of the Kent countryside yet also close to Maidstone and Medway towns. Makes you feel special as you drive the lane and approach the property along the gravelled drive to be welcomed by the friendliest of hosts.

  • What a fabulous place to stay! House was clean, comfortable and very well stocked. The welcome pack was much appreciated. Sara was always quick to respond and thoughtfully ensured the lights were on when we arrived later than planned. The views are fantastic and it looks like there are plenty of walks to explore in the area. We were staying there as a base to see family and will definitely be looking to re-book for future trips. Thank you Sara

  • The accommodation was finished to an outstanding standard and was extremely clean and spacious. Sara has thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable and pleasurable as possible, including the well filled breakfast basket, with eggs, milk and butter in the fridge. The views were beautiful from every window. We only wish the weather had been better to enjoy the local walks, but it didn't stop us from exploring some National Trust houses and Moat park, all well worth a visit. The Hook and Hatchet pub down the road, was also an excellent experience, for a pub meal. Thank you again Sara for everything, we will definitely be back!

    Sarah2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sara's place is exactly as described, quiet with fabulous views. We were met on arrival and knew that if we needed anything we could call on her. There was a welcome food hamper with fresh fruit, bread, jam, cereal, milk and butter, which was a very thoughtful touch. The house itself was very clean. The bedrooms were comfortable, each with their own en suite. The living area again was very comfortable and very well equipped. I would highly recommend this place. It was the nicest AirBnB we have stayed in.

  • It’s as good as it looks in the pictures.

  • The apartment is really lovely and Kim’s thoughtful touches make it so warm and welcoming. The apartment was more spacious than expected and was immaculately clean. The kitchen has every amenity you can think of, it really is a very comfortable home from home. We chose this so we could visit Leeds Castle which is only a very short drive away. Thank you Kim, we will be back to explore Kent further!

  • This is a great apartment in Kent, all the great places are close. Great for golfers and sight-seers (castles, London). Clean, great communication. Recommend.

  • Kim’s place is an ideal basis for trips around Kent. Nice central location, close to Bearsted train station, Leeds castle and hiking trails into the North Downs. The apartment in the former Oast House has all the modern comforts, yet still retains a pleasant rustic feel. Hostess Kim makes you feel right at home and was quite willing to help with any questions we had, offering good advice for the few trips we planned. In all, highly recommended.
