  • DnA’s pool house is located in a peaceful neighborhood. The house has a great mix of modern and oriental style. Inside the house is super clean and is full of thoughtful touches. The pool and hot tub is easy to use. Would definitely come back. Highly recommend!

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ + It’s almost as if DnA invented Airbnb! They were ideal hosts! We had a private home with quiet nights in the hot tub overlooking the beautiful hills of LA and our own private, perfectly lite patio at night with early morning sun for coffee and sun bathing. One morning while having breakfast we watched as humming birds fluttered around the patio. They supplied above and beyond amenities and personal touches including snacks, beverages, movies, plush robes and so much more. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to make our stir fry dinners and rice. We loved walking to York street for vintage shopping and healthy eating/drinking. I can’t wait to book another stay with them. Much love from Detroit to you! Thank you DnA & Apollo🌈

  • Great place, super friendly hosts and for that Price almost too good to be true - but it is!

  • A truly great place and experience. We're stayed in some good Airbnb 's but this is up there with the best of them.

  • Incredible. If you're lucky enough to be able to have the chance to stay here, take it. It will exceed all of your expectations even though they're already set pretty high.

  • This pool house was wonderful to stay at. It was very clean on the inside, and it had all the standard amenities one would expect. The pool was gorgeous and the hot tub was fun; we took a dip one night and really enjoyed it. Instructions were clear for self check-in and check-out, and both went very smoothly. The fridge and cupboards came stocked with a few goodies as well. The only thing I would note about this place is that the driveway is rather long and steep. I wish I could bring my mother here, but she has arthritis and would not be able to survive the driveway. Overall, we were very happy. Thank you for being great hosts!

  • You will be more then happy with this place! Feels like home!

  • Dennis and Alex's place is great! It has great views of the valley whether day or night. The Zen style pool house is stylish and clean!. The pool and hot spa are just a few steps from your door.

A magical Redwood Treehouse located it the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. There is a live tree growing right through the main living area and another in the bathroom! It is simply incredible. It was built by my friend, Randy, a stained glass artist. Everyone who sees it are delighted by it. Please read entire description before making a reservation request. It has a delicious high-bed, a kitchen with a small stove and refrigerator, and typical cooking tools. There is a full bathroom with shower and toilet of course. There is now a hot-tub at about 103 degrees ready for your soak before bed or a morning treat. The Treehouse is a short walk of a few hundred yards (about four minutes) through the beautiful woods from the parking area. There is a gas stove for heating. There is a TV and DVD player with many movies to choose from. For travelers this is the best of both worlds. A wonderful treehouse nestled in the redwood forest, a short distance to HWY 1(Pacific Coast HWY) the main vein to Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, Capitola and Santa Cruz and the HWY 101 Corridor. People come from all over the world to experience the Pacific Coast specifically the Monterey Bay area. It is an area rich in history. Here you will find world class art, music, cuisine, golf, surfing, sightseeing, hiking, biking, sunbathing, whale watching, birding, fishing, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and so much more. You can spend the day engaged in a variety of activities, physical and/or cultural. However you spend your day you can return home to a mountain treehouse and quiet. The weather here is excellent. It is located in a micro climate called a ‘banana belt’. Though the beach is only 25 minutes away we are often in the sun when our neighbors in the valley and on the coast are in the fog. Winters are mild we average 25” of rainfall a year. Summers can be warm but delightful. The fog rolling in at night is nature’s air conditioner and everything cools down. The weather is nearly perfect. Fog burns off early enough to make the beaches comfortable all day. The Santa Cruz Mountains are home to Sequoia Sempervirens commonly known as a Redwood Tree. They are native only to a specific part of Pacific Coast region. Come and visit our amazing part of the world and experience something special about the California Coast. All linens are provided. The kitchen has the basic items for cooking, i.e., spices, oil, vinegar, sugar, and tea. Two-night minimum on weekends. THREE-DAY MINIMUM on HOLIDAY WEEKENDS. A 60.00 cleaning fee will be charged per each stay. We are a green establishment. Environmentally friendly cleaning products are used. We ask our guests to consider using fewer towels during their stay and not requesting a sheet change unless your stay is longer than a week. I have a moderate cancellation policy. You must cancel a full seven days before your reservation. Please make sure that you read it thoroughly. You will be charged 50% of your stay if you cancel after the grace period.
  • My boyfriend and I feel this tree house is a hidden treasure. We were blown away at the level of craftsmanship of the house, as there are two great redwoods growing straight through it. One in the living space and another in the bathroom. We loved the rustic and homey feel of this woodsy den. The elevated bed was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed watching legends of the fall by candlelight after a home cooked dinner. The jacuzzi was an added gift to our beautiful night. An amazing setting with a backwoods feel. Our hosts were especially friendly and also accommodating. Expect a short trek through the redwoods to reach this gem. We suggest packing light and bringing a flashlight. A unique and soulful place with a story. The perfect place for a romantic stay.

    Genoa2020-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was such a lovely stay! Very quiet and cozy. We went in the jacuzzi, made dinner with a kitchen that had everything we needed, took a warm shower and watched old black & white movies while putting together a puzzle! The best part was our doggies were able to join us! Thank you MJ for making our tree house dreams come true :)

    Caitlin2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a unique and special experience :) a short walk to the tree house very private. There are other dogs in the area so be weary if you also have a pup I had no issues !! Very friendly pit across the way that played with my pup around the woods ! There was a friendly face once we arrived to make sure we knew were to go to the home! The best part (other than the fact that we were in a literal treehouse) was the lights all around the house! I was able to get some amazing photos. Thank you for being an amazing host ! Some tips! Don’t pack too much since there is a walk to the home Don’t pack too many cold food items or larger items as she notes in the photo it is a mini fridge! Bring coal if you wanted to use the little grill. Bring coffee grounds (if you need it) AND ENJOY. YOURE IN A TREE HOUSE!!

  • Our April visit to the Redwood Treehouse was a birthday treat for my husband, planned months ago before the uncertainty in the world today with the pandemic around us all. Our host, Mary Jane, welcomed us to her place & we felt very much like kids, as we made our way to our 3-night adventure. The small trek into the redwoods offered an immediate tranquility...it led us out of the hectic world & into a more serene one. Seeing the treehouse all nestled in the beauty, we were anxious to see inside! The warm feeling when we first opened the door was incredible to say the least & something I don't remember ever having in a traditional stay. Everything has been thoughtfully arranged & there wasn't anything we needed outside of the food & drink we took along. We enjoyed the views while we sat outside with our morning tea, & again in the late afternoons with a bottle of wine & some cheese after a nap. The hot tub was the perfect temperature & relaxed us before bed, as we would then enjoy a movie together in the quiet around us. Sleep was most soothing & so needed from our everyday city pace - the bed was comfy & warm, with a nice gas stove for a special ambiance that I don't remember having in my childhood treehouse :) My husband cooked up the meals on the grill, as I finished up in the kitchen - sitting down to a dinner table had become foreign to us with our schedules & we loved connecting with each other again. Mary Jane, we will be back...hopefully, we'll be able to nuzzle our way back on the calendar soon since many of our friends are looking to schedule their much needed retreats too...they're looking forward to the serenity we've TRIED to describe! Thank you for sharing the treehouse adventure with us - we're still enjoying the memories!!

    Kelly2020-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Jane's place was amazing!!! Can't say enough how beautiful the treehouse is, especially with all the twinkle lights on at night. The cabin is very rustic and charming, and has everything one needs for an amazing stay. We loved that we had to hike down a trail for ~5 minutes to get there - it just added to the special experience. The hot tub was the cherry on top! We used it every night.

    Alex2020-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit to the treehouse and it was just as great as the first visit. We love the secluded location amongst the redwoods. A wonderful destination to get away from it all. Definitely a unique and special experience staying here. Mary Jane is the ideal Airbnb host. She provided us with all the information needed and was quick to respond with any questions.

    Kayla2020-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing treehouse stay. Legit treehouse with trees growing right through the space while still feeling cozy and homey as a old timey cabin. Clean and well organized. No bugs. Heaters worked well. SO amazingly quiet. Walking through the forest to get to the spot was super fun.

A rustic, cozy cottage nestled in the majestic redwoods of Sonoma county makes the perfect weekend getaway or month retreat. Relax in 2 acres of landscaped garden or drive to convenient restaurants, the ocean, or San Francisco.
This is perfect for the person/persons who love nature. It is a cozy converted chicken coop with an added deck and outdoor shower. The fridge, microwave and hot plate make it easy to stay in although the adorable town of Occidental with its delicious restaurants are fun.
This is a no through road so it is very quiet. And even though the houses are far apart, the neighbors are close and watch out for each other. There is a beautiful walking path available to the neighborhood.
  • Had a lovely time staying at Josephine’a cottage. The fresh air, hot tubbing under the stars, and laying in a hammock between the redwoods were all aspects that I especially enjoyed. Our hostess was lovely and very gracious! I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking for some rest and relaxation.

  • You will absolutely love this place! If you love nature, peace and quite, and just amazing views... this is the place for you. The two days we spent at her property we never left. Walking around her 2 acres of land, took a lot of pictures, and the hot tub. It was like we were at a private retreat. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful PRIVATE TROPICAL Guest House in Topanga Canyon! Look up Cody Simpson & Ziggy Marley's video, "Love" on You Tube for video of property! 1 NIGHT STAYS ARE $225/NIGHT. MSG 4 INFO, NO DISCOUNTS on 1 night stays. Weekly & Monthly rates available, rates depend on season -- please inquire for long term stays. Rates vary per season & day of week -- please enter dates in calendar for pricing, rate as shown on listing is base rate! PLEASE READ ENTIRE DETAILS/LISTING BEFORE MESSAGING.
Hello! Welcome! Please read my entire listing before messaging, as I have comprehensive coverage for most all questions! Additionally, I do adhere to all of my rules & guidelines! No exceptions! Rules are: 2 guest maximum, no pets, no children of any age, no self check in, no visitors during your stay, etc.. The AirBnB app does not show what I do not allow, only what I do! Please check this listing on a desktop computer, so you understand what I do allow/do not allow before messaging. No parties/events/weddings on my property. HOME DETAILS: Come relax up in Topanga & get away! 1 Bedroom Guest House located in the Heart of the canyon for nightly & weekly rentals! The entire property has waterfalls, ponds & a tropical themed environment. The guest house has 1 queen sized bed & can accommodate a maximum of two guests comfortably. There is also a kitchenette with mini fridge, stovetop, complete with coffee maker & filters, dishes/pots/pans & washer/dryer on site (the washer/dryer is for stays of 5+ days). Unit does not have A/C, but has ceiling fans in the bedroom, along with sliding glass & screen doors in each room allowing for ventilation. PARKING: 1 carport parking spot is available, along with extra parking along the road. The road is paved, but has no sidewalks alongside. CELL PHONE & INTERNET: Wireless internet is available, along with a cell signal booster. Reception can be spotty up in the mountains, and is not guaranteed; although most all guests have not had issues. NEIGHBORHOOD: Topanga is a charming, countryside neighborhood adjacent to Los Angeles & very safe. I've lived here for over 30 years, and never had any issues. COMMUTE: My house is about 15 minutes drive from Santa Monica, 20 minutes from Malibu & 15 minutes to Woodland Hills, 30 minutes to LAX. Without traffic, I'm about 35 minutes from Hollywood, 40 minutes from downtown, 25 minutes to West Los Angeles/Culver City. To get a better idea of commute, I'm central in Topanga, so if you check a map for Topanga, CA & get directions from there, you'll be able to estimate distances. ARE THERE ANIMALS ON THE PROPERTY? No. I do not allow any animals in the guest house, nor are there any on the property (for allergy & personal health needs, I cannot allow animals on the property). For those who need petsitting: LADogma is a great local option where dogs stay comfortably in a home in Topanga. Just look up "LADogma" for more info. IS THIS A FAMILY RENTAL? My rental is Adults Only - No children of any age allowed (including infants)! Due to a unique property structure, with many stone stairways, ponds, firepit, size of guest house, etc., I remain firm on my policy of (2) adult guests maximum per stay. Many families try to message me asking for an exception; but I do remain firm on this rule, due to liability & safety concerns. I'm happy to host just parents for a romantic getaway, though! ACCESSIBILITY: There are several long flights of stone steps leading up to the guesthouse. This shouldn't be a problem for most people (and i'm happy to help with luggage), but if you have trouble with stairs, this may not be the place for you. I've had multiple pregnant women manage the stairs late in their term, but these stairs may also be a concern for pregnant women on bed rest. SENSITIVE? Sheets are 100% cotton, 600 thread count - I use all natural laundry detergents, for those of you with allergy concerns! I also provide organic soaps, all cotton towels & robes. Please do let me know if you have allergies though, so I can be extra scent-sitive! SURFING? If you'd like this to be a surf getaway, I'm happy to loan you one of my boards with your security deposit acting as collateral! I have kayaks & stand-up paddle boards available for use - but note that you'll need a truck or SUV to get them down to the beach (I don't allow guests to tie the boards to a standard car, even with a roof rack - I don't want my boards to be damaged). I've been surfing & diving for many years locally, and would be happy to give you some pointers on location, etc.. PHOTOGRAPHER? If you are a photographer looking to use my property as a location for a shoot, please note that I don't include shoots as part of a "package" deal when staying at the guest house. If you try to sneak a shoot on my property, this will result in a negative rating, possible immediate ejection from my property and/or loss of security deposit! Please mention any relevant photography in your message, as I would require that we arrange a shoot outside of AirBnB. I use my properties as locations, so a location fee would be required, along with standard insurance, etc.. If you'd like to take a few casual snapshots on my property for strictly personal use, that's fine.
FUN FACT: As featured in Cody Simpson's music video, "Love." (URL HIDDEN) LOCAL POINTS OF INTEREST: AirBnB does a great job of covering Topanga! Check out their location guide here: https://www.airbnb.com/locations/los-angeles/topanga Topanga State Beach is an 8 minute drive & Topanga State Park is about a 5 minute drive. In Topanga, there are many hiking trails, some with eight thousand year-old Indian caves & waterfalls. Mimosa Cafe is the village coffee shop, which is a 10 minute hike down the hill. Just across the way from Mimosa, there is a natural foods store & a little mini market. Santa Monica & Malibu are a beautiful 15 minute drive along Pacific Coast Highway. Suggested local restaurants would be Inn of the Seventh Ray, Froggy's & Cholada Thai food. Great restaurants in Malibu are Geoffrey's, Nobu Sushi & Cafe Habana. The closest large grocery store is a Von's Market, located on Sunset Blvd. There's also a natural foods market & deli in Malibu, named PC Greens. Additionally, a local raw smoothie & juice bar has opened recently, about a 5 minute drive from my place called Topanga Living Cafe in Topanga!
  • No video or picture can fully capture how amazing this property is. It is also very large and you are able to explore and find soo many more amazing details if desired. I was lucky enough to have a deeper conversation with Darrell during my stay on the property; he is one of the most spiritually aligned people ive ever spoken with and his energy matches his property's!

The space is a small guest suite attached to the main house. The guest suite comes with a living room area with large flat screen TV and entertainment system, full bath, and small bedroom with a queen bed. There is also a desk and work area in the bedroom. The listing is meant for 2 but can accommodate 2 and a small child or 3 if you don’t mind getting cozy. The suite has its own entrance, and is completely private from the main house. The space is small and not very fancy as we are not fancy folk. I actually made some of the items and furniture in the suite from materials i found onsite when we purchased the property. The living room area has a mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. We also provide complimentary coffee and tea to our guests. The property is beautiful year round. We invite you to come be our guests. We look forward to hosting you. Coronavirus update: We are taking the current pandemic very seriously. We've stepped up our cleaning and sanitizing. We temporarily asking that all guests limit their stay with immediate family members. No additional guests will be permit during this time. In addition to this is you are experiencing symptoms that you either reschedule or cancel your stay. Please be aware that the medical facilities in the area are not very large. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at any time.
We live in a quiet mountain community on the main highway about .6 miles away from the center of town.

*This cabin was featured in the New York Times in January, 2017. * A magical homesteader cabin embedded in 5 acres of unfenced Joshua Tree desert wilderness, 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. Experience peace, quiet, wildlife and STARS—on the grid but off the pavement. Important to note before you book: NOT APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN 2-12 NO EXTRA GUESTS NO PARTIES (including dinner parties) NO DRONES NO COMMERCIAL/PROFESSIONAL SHOOTING (photo, video, film) NO GRILLING NO PETS Thank you!
If this cabin is booked on your dates, check out our nearby "Midcentury Prefab Homesteader Cabin." *** If you would like to use our cabin as a shooting location please get in touch to discuss our rates, otherwise we do not allow commercial or professional shooting of any kind (photo, video, film) during your stay. Thank you in advance! *** The restored cabin, which has been featured in the New York Times 'T' travel magazine, Wilder Quarterly, The Weekender and the book 'Jackrabbit Homestead,' was constructed in 1955 and still has its original green paint. The renovated interior has a cookware-outfitted kitchen and dining area. There is an outhouse with a dry toilet and roofless shower a few yards from the cabin. Wireless internet is available if you require a connection to the digital world. The cabin is equipped with air conditioning. Joshua Tree National Park is a 15 minute drive from the cabin. The Integratron and Giant Rock are also 15 minutes away. The cabin is less than two miles from artist Noah Purifoy's famous sculpture garden site. Two miles in the other direction is Dhamma Dena, a Vipassana Buddhist retreat center. The always swinging Pappy & Harriet's BBQ and music roadhouse in beautiful Pioneertown is a 30-minute drive. The Lou Harrison House, which hosts occasional devotional, folk and avant garde music events in an intimate setting is less than 10 minutes away. We will be happy to give you directions to each of these unique places (and many others) that we frequent ourselves. The cabin sits on 5 acres, and feels remote, but it's just 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. You will travel a few miles on a secure, hard dirt road to get here. Enjoy the spectacular panoramic sunset and sunrise—as well as a blanket of stars. Sleep comfortably in a queen-sized bed. The cabin is located next to BLM land and a wildlife corridor, which means you will witness these wild animals in their native habitat. The cottontail rabbits, cactus wrens, lizards, desert tortoises, jackrabbits, coyotes, owls and roadrunners (and more!) that make the desert their home make a visit to this serene cabin all the more special.
This is rural desert wilderness. On the grid, but off the pavement.
  • Beautiful cabin. Cozy interior with everything you need. Copious windows that showcase the magnificent landscape. Rabbits, diverse desert fauna, and doves nesting in the rafters. This was a magical place to unwind and unplug, and Jay and Stephanie are great hosts.

  • Stephanie and Jay’s place was everything we dreamed it would be! Rustic-chic, minimalist, clean, comfortable, remote but not too isolated... we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. It’s also highly Instagrammable and a very peaceful respite from everyday life. A rare combo! The shops and restaurants of Joshua Tree (and the park itself) are just a short drive away. We loved it here and didn’t want to leave.

    Sarah2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay at the homestead. My husband and I have been road tripping around the southwest and we stayed one night at Stephanie & Jay’s place in between and it was peaceful and relaxing. Just what we needed. Lovely space. Very friendly & communicative hosts. Would recommend. A+

    Samantha2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Stephanie and Jay’s homesteader cabin was definitely the most unique and enjoyable Airbnb experience we have had. We paired our stay with a day of hiking at Joshua Tree National Park, but the surrounding landscape makes the cabin a perfect retreat in and of itself. It’s clear that the hosts care a great deal about the area and local flora and fauna, too. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

    Leopoldo2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very close to Joshua Tree National Park, this cabin provided the perfect "end of trip" celebration for us. The outdoor shower is an amazing place to watch the sunset and the cabin itself is adorable. We enjoyed watching the wildlife during our stay! Pro Trip: we found the cheapest firewood at Stater Bros Grocery Store! We would definitely love to stay again!

    Taylor2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location, clean & welcoming space and stunning views! What more could you ask for? We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back soon!

  • Just like the pictures, beautiful!

    Patrick2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful solo retreat at Stephanie and Jay's place. The cabin is secluded in a quiet area, but still with easy access to town. Super clean, minimal, basic – exactly what I was looking for. Jay was super helpful during check in and very communicative throughout the entire process. Would stay again, 10/10!

  • This is a great spot for a relaxing solo retreat. I loved the outdoor tub and the privacy, surrounded by nature.

    Sara2020-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cute spot nestled in nature. It was beautiful to be immersed in nature sounds, sit by a fire, and soak in the bathtub. The outdoor bathtub, although a bit old was amazing. The hammock under the redwoods is so relaxing. The bed was comfortable and room was cute and clean. It is more on the simple side which is what I love, but if that’s not your thing it’s good to know about. Stephanie was quick to respond to messages and very helpful!

    Kristy2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Went Beyond all of my expectations. Very special place. Stephanie is very responsive and professional as a host & extremely helpful. This is a gorgeous quiet retreat away from the world. The outdoor bathroom is extremely sophisticated and it’s rustic boho chic qualities went way beyond what I was expecting. The bed is the most comfortable bed that for the first time in years I felt like I got a real deep sleep. Such a magical place.

  • This place is amazing, make sure you bring some kind of slip on footwear as the bathroom area is outside. Very clean and nice. Beautiful scenery, wonderful wildlife, and an amazing place to be if you are looking to reconnect with the outdoors.

March 15, 29 - April 1st now open. There has been a lot of concern about the Covid-19 virus. We are now sterilizing the hard surfaces in our listings. We are quite isolated here so your exposure risks are much lower than in a city. If you have been exposed to it, please don't make a reservation. We have been listing the Mushroom Dome Cabin with airbnb since July '09 and have had the most reservations of any of their listings - in the world. We have had over 5,000 guests from over 50 countries.
As we are no longer allowed by Santa Cruz county to rent the Mushroom Dome Cabin, we are now listing the LAND of Paradise Suite, a room in our unique home. (LAND: Love And Nature Divine) Make a reservation for the Suite, you will also have unlimited access to the Mushroom Dome.We have 10 acres next to land without fences so you will get to enjoy nature: just hang out on the deck, take a hike in the woods, watch the hummingbirds on our deck, pet the goats, go to the beach or gaze at the stars - as long as the moon isn't full. ; - ) During the summer, if there isn't any nightly fog, we can see the Milky Way here. To check our availability, click on the "Request to Book" link. And yes, if it isn't available, it is already booked! If you want to stay here on a weekend, you will usually need to make your reservation request about 6-11 months in advance. We have another listing: the Hummingbird Haven. It usually has more availability. You can find it here: airbnb.com/rooms/6562632 (Please read all of this description before making a reservation request.) The cozy and clean semi-rustic retreat space has a loft under a geodesic dome (the "mushroom cap"). In the loft is a Queen-sized super popular Casper Mattress which allows for very comfortable meditation and/or sleeping and just hanging out. We provide clean sheets and pillow cases. Plenty of blankets are also provided. In the LAND of Paradise Suite, is a double bed as well as a fold out bed, a small fridge, an electric tea kettle, teas, and coffee. Let me know if you want to cook meals here and I'll tell you how. The other "bed" is a couch that we can make up into a bed. If there are going to be 2 of you, but you want separate beds, please make the reservation for 3 or let me know ahead of time - there is a $10. charge for using it as a bed. On the main floor of the Meditation Mushroom retreat (a Pentagon) is the couch a pull-out table and 2 chairs. We provide a small refrigerator, a Hot Air Popcorn Popper (and the kernels), French Coffee Press, an Electric Water Kettle, a wine opener, dishes - and more. We have 2 tables where you can enjoy meals, games, etc.: 1 inside and 1 outside on the large deck that faces the redwoods. We also have a barbecue grill on the deck with an extra gas burner on the side. We provide Organic Coffee, teas, Oatmeal, popcorn, butter, honey, sugar, nutritional yeast (for the popcorn!) spices, oil and vinegar and various snacks. Our well water is treated by an ozonator, a UV light and a soft water filter. If you have a baby and you won't be needing the second bed, make your reservation for 2 and let us know if you will need a small pad for the loft. Again, if there are 2 of you but you want to use the second bed, please make your reservation for 3. The cute bathroom has a Travertine shower, custom tiled sink and a Natures Head self-contained composting toilet. Some guests have had a problem with our bathroom, so I want to make it clear that we have a curtain for the door to the bathroom and we require that you put your used toilet paper in the trash. (it won't smell) If you follow the instructions for how to use the toilet, it won't have any odor. If you stay here for more than 1 night, you may need to change the pee bucket. We will do it for you if you want, but we do need you to pay attention to the pee level so it doesn't overflow! If the thought of using a composting toilet grosses you out, then don't make a reservation here. ; - ) We provide towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair blow-dryer, etc. (a word of caution: the bathroom has a low ceiling. If you are over 6' you may have to do a little ducking here and there.) As Saturdays are very much in demand, (and we like to be free on Saturdays), we require a minimum 2 day stay on the weekends: Friday to Sunday. On 3 day holidays, we require a 3 day reservation. (This includes Presidents Day, Memorial Day, M. L. King day, and Labor Day.) But to stay here on a weekend, you will usually have to book the cabin 6 - 8 months in advance - unless you are lucky to find a cancellation! Check-in time is between 4 and 10pm. If you want to come sooner or later, this can sometimes be arranged. Check-out time is noon. As we have experienced some damage from guests, we are now requiring a $100. security deposit. Although it feels very isolated here, we are less than 10 minutes to Aptos Village where you will find stores, New Leaf (a very large natural food store), restaurants, a health food store, Safeway, etc. We are centrally located on the Monterey Bay: 10 minutes from the beach (Rio Del Mar and Seacliff State Beach) as well as the 10,000 acre Forest Nisene Marks State Park for miles of hiking or dirt biking in the Redwoods and along Aptos creek. We are 20 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz, 25 min. to the Beach Boardwalk, 45 minutes to Monterey and the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, 50 min. to Carmel and 1 1/2 hours to Big Sur going south and San Francisco to the North. Yup, we are located in one of the most beautiful areas of California. (these times are not during rush hour(s) ; - ) If you love hummingbirds, bring your camera. Our garden is the year-round home to many Anna Hummingbirds. (We usually have about 300 - 600 year-round) During the summer, we are also called home by many Rufus and Allen Hummers as well. So you have got to see our "Hummingbird Airport" where we feed them about 130 oz. of syrup on a summer day! Please, no smoking or vaping in the cabin or on the property. We used to let smokers stay here, but they stink up the cabin and it is a fire hazard outside. Some cell phones don't work here, but since we have free wifi in the cabin, if your phone works with a wifi network, you are good to call. You can sometimes get Verizon service on the swinging seat by the driveway. To learn about things to do in the area, do an internet search for Santa Cruz, CA. Dogs are welcome to stay here but with a few requirements: since we have so many animals, we require that your dogs be kept on a leash when outside (the goats get very nervous with large loose dogs). Also, we don't allow dogs in the loft or on the couch downstairs so please bring a doggie bed. (your doggie can go on the couch if you bring a cover for it) If that is difficult, let us know and we will provide a doggie pillow. We have a gate that we can set up so your dog can be off the leash on the deck. If you are bringing a small child, we can put a folding futon (2/3rds of the futon or a foam pad next to the bed ) Just let us know ahead of time. Keep in mind, though, that a child should not be left in the loft by themselves as the bed is fairly high up against the rail. As we are about 3 miles to the nearest bus stop, it is pretty difficult to stay here without a car. You are invited, if you feel you would be harmonious here. Pet the goats, check out our chickens, cats, miniature dog and enjoy the very fresh air. If you come here when there is no moonlight and the sky is clear, you will see lots of stars. Tired of the heat in the summer? Since we are on the edge of the "fog belt", it can be both sunny and cool here. If you want a noisy place, you won't like it here: most of the sound here comes from the birds or crickets chirping, the tree frogs croaking and the breeze blowing through the trees. People do live on the land here though, so don't expect it to be totally devoid of human sounds and the occasional chain saw. : ) (We feed the goats oak branches)
Even though we live only a 8 minute drive to Aptos village and the beaches, it feels very remote and private here. It is usually very quiet at night - sometimes we can hear the ocean waves crashing on the beach. There is lots of land to hike on and explore here as well. We have 8 people living here in a rather loose community.
  • The Mushroom Dome is exactly as magical as described and was just the getaway I was looking for. The location is fantastic; secluded enough to enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings while being close enough to town for all the food and groceries I needed. Not only did I enjoy the trails on the property, but I also appreciated the sizable DVD collection provided. Kitty & Michael were extremely attentive hosts and had great food and activity recommendations in the area. I would definitely love to return. (Oh, and that bed is super comfortable!)

    Chris2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Magical place, closer to Capitola and to great beaches! The mushroom dome is unique, very comfortable and Kitty is a sweetheart. Her dog Elliot is also a formidable companion :) The place invites you to disconnect, enjoy nature, cook, rest. It was the perfect setting to celebrate my partner’s birthday!

    Alisson2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty gave clear directions on how to get to the cabin and even personally met us at the driveway so we could get to know our hostess which was so nice. We were a little put off by the idea of a compostable toilet but after experiencing one and how clean and easy it seemed to maintain we're looking into replacing our standard toilet for a compostable one as well! Her cat milo was so friendly, although I'm allergic I couldn't help but show some love...and take some claritin! The landscaping was breathtaking throughout. Can't wait to come back with a book or two to read and enjoy in the garden. Kitty has a rulebook put together which some may find daunting...but if you read through the rules are pretty common sense. We loved her sense of humor and are looking forward to booking again soon.

    Johanna2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, relaxing and quirky...enjoyed my stay!

    Heidi2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever encountered. Such a serene and beautiful environment. Kitty and Michael are incredible hosts and made us feel extremely welcome.

    Kitzia2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very great hosts and Kitty will take the extra time to welcome you and provide a little history about the place. The environment is serene and relaxing especially sitting on the deck drinking coffee and or having breakfast.

    Nada2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Even if you expect it to be perfect, Kitty & Michael will give your time a chance to expand your concept of perfection

    Paul2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty and Michael are gracious, kind-hearted super hosts. You will fall in love with the Mushroom Dome; my two friends and I felt at-home very quickly. The location is beautiful, the hosts are absolutely lovely, and the place itself is breathtaking. The bed upstairs is super comfortable and the shower is pleasant as well, with water that warms up right away. The Mushroom Dome is incredibly charming, and hearing about it’s history from Kitty adds another element of awe to your experience. This was my friends’ and I first AriBnB experience, and we feel so lucky to have chosen such a perfect place. None of us stumbled across any issues with our stay, and our entire trip was smooth and enjoyable. If you find dates that work for you, I urge you to book, I can’t imagine anyone regretting this stay!

  • Awesome cabin! If you’re looking for a cozy little place to stay the weekend in, then this is it. They have everything you need to be off to a good start. I usually come up to ride but this trip was just for relaxing, and that’s exactly what we did! The jacuzzi is definitely nice during those colder nights. The furnace is a warming touch that can get the cabin cookin if you maintain the fire! Recommend!

    Jerritt2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved this little cabin! It’s so cute and cozy! It’s close to the village and restaurants. The Uber’s were only about $10 bucks each way which was very nice and convenient. The hot tub is the best part ! We enjoyed a glass of wine out in the hott tub. There’s beautiful lights above as well that set a great ambiance. The hosts were very accommodating and had good communication. Super easy to find, loved our stay thank you !

  • We had a great stay at the cabin! It's super cozy and had everything we needed. It's in a woodsy neighborhood which we loved, but it's also super close to the town center - best of both worlds! Marc and Esther were very responsive hosts and we'd stay at their place again in a second!

    Carly2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent stay at Marc an Esther's place. We spent most of our days enjoying the fresh air, making fires, enjoying the hot tub, and feeling cozy in the loft. Fast internet speeds along with Netflix made our stay even more enjoyable.

The Joshua Tree House is a two bed two bath 1949 hacienda located 10 minutes from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA. This is a place for dreamers to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making local coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by over 100 Joshua Trees and a starry night sky.
The County of San Bernardino is advising that individualized short-term rental units (STRs, e.g. units secured via Airbnb, Vrbo, etc.) are allowed to operate during Covid-19, provided: - Occupancy of each unit is limited to members of a single household. (this means that you can only stay with family, roommates or other people that you've been sheltering in place with). - Units are sanitized prior to each occupancy. - County Codes governing STRs are observed This house is very close to downtown Joshua Tree with many shops and restaurants about a 10 minute walk from the house. This also means that some sound from the highway can be heard. If you're looking for a completely silent desert experience, we would recommend our other property: The Joshua Tree Casita (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10614974). Please also check that listing if you can't find the dates you're looking for. Welcome to the Joshua Tree House! This hacienda was built in 1949. With over 100 Joshua Trees on the property, the views from the house are magical. If you're up for it, sunrise on the front porch is incredible. We estimate that some of the larger Joshua Trees on the property are as old as our country! *Mattresses and Bedding by Casper* There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the house, and works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families. We can also set up an extra memory foam mattress in the hammock room (has privacy with pocket sliding doors) to accommodate groups of six.
Joshua Tree is a small community made up of musicians, artists, and explorers. In the village you will find locally owned and run restaurants, art galleries, music venues, and vintage shops. There are many wonderful places to visit during your stay at the house including the Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy & Harriet's, the Integratron, Salvation Mountain, the Salton Sea, Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum, Crossroads, BKB Ceramics, and la Copine (a delicious new french restaurant in the desert).
  • Sara & Rich's accommodations were immaculate. From every single room presenting its own unique aesthetic, our group was taken away by the natural charm within a fun desert house.

    Maxwell2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • It is a beautiful and unique place. Very peaceful. You wake up in the morning with a beautiful sunrise, birds singing in your window and bunnies on your garden enjoying the first rays of sun. The house is unique. Very cool and comfortable. Also is very technologic but you do not realise until you get there. The beds were the mostly comfortable and soft beds I ever slept in. We are definitely coming back. We had the best experience. Sara and rich are very kind and always answer very fast if you have any question. I recommend it 100%.

    Mer2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely gorgeous house down to every detail. It was super clean and cozy. The bed was very comfortable. Seemed even nicer than the posting in real life! We will definitely be coming back.

  • The Joshua Tree House was a beautiful, meditative sanctuary in the desert! My friends and I had a great time just hanging out on the porch watching the sunrise, prepping meals together, and watching the stars from the hot tub. The coffee was delicious and the sound system was great. It’s very close to many shops and restaurants. We all want to come back!

  • Sara & Rich's place is the perfect place for a desert getaway. It provides an awesome setting, perfect in every way. Very close to great places to shop, eat and explore.

  • I had the best time here with my husband and 3 year old. We felt right at home in this gorgeous house and used all it had to offer. Naps in the hammock, made a fire at night, cooked every day, hot tub at night, views, sunshine, record player, lovely backyard... we will be back. It was such a treat.

    Paula2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. There aren’t good enough words to explain the magical stay we had at this incredible home. It will exceed every expectation you can have. The star gazing in the hot tub, the beds, the decor, every bit of this entire experience was beautiful. This is not just a place to stay but a work of art to enjoy. So worth every penny.

    Sara2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute dream. Perfect stay in every way for a girls weekend away. We enjoyed the hot tub, the rooms were sparkling clean and the beds were truly comfy as can be. Such a joy to relax in such a perfectly styled home on a lovely Joshua Tree lot, close to everything. Outstanding!

  • I had a wonderful stay at Steve’s beautiful home. Loved all the thoughtful touches (pool floats, speakers, indoor/outdoor glasses, etc.) The space itself is colorful and welcoming. Check-in and check-out couldn’t be easier and Steve was such a warm and gracious host! He met us at the house for check in and gave us great local tips. • We originally booked this cabin for a late season ski trip but since the world has recently changed due to the pandemic we didn’t do much other than stay indoors. It was a great place to be locked down for a couple of days in the middle of this crisis almost forgetting what was going on everywhere else in the world. The place is extremely clean and very cozy. The bed was so comfortable, we slept so well that I’m actually going to DM the host asking the brand and where I can get that same mattress! Also read so many great reviews about the hot tub and now know why. I would just copy and paste those reviews about hot tub here. I’m looking forward to book again next ski season hopefully at better times in the world.. The Super host badge is confirmed here. Highly recommended!

  • Stay here! Super cute little cabin in a lovely area. The host is AMAZING. Great communication from beginning to end and the place was sparkling clean and fully loaded with everything you could ever hope for and more! When we first pulled up I was a bit shocked it was so small, but it was NOT lacking in the slightest. The space is organized so thoughtfully, from a fully stocked kitchen to great amenities and tips for the area. The hot tub is great, and very easy to use. The bed is super comfy, best sleep I’ve had in a while! And the fireplace is gorgeous, even if you’ve never started your own fire there are detailed instructions for your safety that make the fireplace easy to use. (Note: firewood and fire starters are not provided but you can buy them down the street for pretty cheap). The cabin is very easy to find, and the area itself is absolutely stunning. Unfortunately we found ourselves down here during the beginning of the COVID-19 panic when most public places started closing, but we took a drive around the lake and spent some time on the trails and still had an amazing time appreciating the breathtaking views! This place is 10/10, from the host to the location, down to every little thoughtful detail that’s been put into your stay. It’s the perfect couples’ getaway, we will be back!

The Land Yacht is a classic 31 foot Airstream "Land Yacht" travel trailer, that has been converted into a fully functional Glamping unit. The Land Yacht has its own private deck built alongside it, with a super refreshing stock tank pool, and is situated at the base of large boulder formations. We are right on the boundary of the National Park with stunning views. If your dates arent available here, check out our new Moon Yacht Airstream listing https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/33749261?s=51.
The Land Yacht is a 31 foot Classic Airstream "Land Yacht" trailer that has been converted into a fully functional glamping unit. Please read my full listing description before booking. NOTE - The Stock Tank Pool is not a hot tub, it is not heated, and in the winter the water is freezing cold, so as such we drain, and store it away for the winter, From Dec. 1st to April 1st. Another important thing to note - Given that the Airstream Land Yacht is so much within nature, that nature is always trying to get inside the Land Yacht (they know it's cozy in there). And although we make every effort to make sure that little friends don't get in the Airstream, its a constant battle. So if you are staying there do NOT leave food out at all. Keep your food in the fridge when you go out or go to bed. Do not leave the door of the airstream open all night, or you will likely have visitors. And I really have to make a point here as I have had to deal with several extremely unrealistic guests regarding the nature here. So know this, if you see a mouse, a rat, a bat, a bug, a snake, a tarantula, a scorpion, or any other numerous types of animals here, either outside the Airstream or even inside of it (as people leave doors open constantly..) if you see any animals that you don't like or are scared of and you then come to me demanding some kind of refund, you will NOT be refunded. By booking this listing you are accepting that this area is the home of all these creatures and it is you who is the guest in their home. So if you see a mouse or anything other creature, it is not a symptom of some sort of unsanitary conditions (like in the city), it is simply that one of the many creatures has gotten inside the Airstream one way or another, it is certainly not likely that this will happen, but it is certainly possible, and while we make every effort to seal up entry points and stop creatures from getting in, it is not possible to stop them 100%. And we are not in the business of trying to exterminate the local wildlife, indeed we want to have as little impact as possible. So if you are going to have an issue with any of the above, then this is not the listing for you! I'll say it again.. The Desert is the Home of these Animals and you are the Guest in Their home. There's alot of copy-cat Airstream setups out there nowadays, but you don't have to share your bathroom, shower, or kitchen with anyone else here. The Land Yacht is in one of the most spectacular and unique locations in all of Joshua Tree, on the south-side of the Hwy, up on a hill, at the edge of the National Park, with stunning surroundings and views. It feels extremely remote, yet the highway is only a couple of minutes drive down the hill and Joshua Tree's downtown center is just another 10 minutes west, and the main National Park entrance just another 10 minutes from there. The Land Yacht has a large deck and wrap around seating area built alongside it, for true indoor/outdoor living experience, and a super refreshing large stock tank pool (April 1st-Dec. 1st) Note- Please read my entire description of this listing prior to booking. The Airstream itself has a front sleeping area with a Queen Bed, full kitchen with large refrigerator. There is a dining area in the middle along with a single Bunk Bed. The dining area also can convert into an additional bunk bed. The Land Yacht has AC that will cool the Airstream off nicely after about 20 min or so. (from May till September the temperatures here range from the 80's to the low 100's, so take that into account, and please always try to use the AC as sparingly as possible) Heating in the LY during the winter is provided by a portable space-heater that will heat the space up fairly well after about 20 min or so. Again, use sparingly as possible. There is a hot water shower inside the Airstream, along with the private bathroom located at the rear of the trailer. The Land Yacht is best suited for the more adventurous traveller, and those seeking something out of the ordinary. Please be realistic and give a moment's thought about whether you are that sort of person and will be happy staying in a vintage Airstream travel trailer in the middle of the Mojave Desert, with all that that entails. While this is not camping, it is not like being in hotel or a house either. Call it Glamping, or Airstreaming, or whatever you like. But the point is, it's basically a higher end camping experience, and prospective guests should be sure that that kind of experience is the right fit for them. If all that sound fun to you, then great! You will love it here! Please just plan accordingly, its a good idea to bring a flashlight just to have, and maybe bring an extra favorite blanket or two along for your stay to assure maximum coziness, in particular if you are going to be more than the 2 people that the queen bed accommodates. The Land Yacht is really set up for 2 guests, a couple ideally, or a couple with little kids. 4 adults in the Airstream is doable, but it is definitely a full house, and is not so recommended, unless you are happy to be at close quarters with your fellow travellers. We provide bedding for the main Queen bed, make a note of that please, as anyone planning to sleep on either of the extra single bunk beds should plan on bringing a sleeping bag or blanket and pillow of their own. The large Stock Tank Pool on the deck, has a powerful filter and pump built into it to keep the water clean and filtered. It also will creates a nice cascading water sound when you turn it on that is pretty soothing. Take a dunk in between sun and drinks or soak and refresh after a long hike in the Park during hotter weather. Please note, the pool will be drained and put away for the winter starting Dec 1st until April 1st, as it gets too cold to use it during the winter time here. Also on this property as you first enter it, is the Time Machine house, which I also listed on Airbnb. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4551257 The house is on the front portion of the property and is a fair distance away from the Land Yacht and guests at either space will retain their privacy. Situated further up at the back corner of the property, is the site of the Land Yacht's twin sister, the Airstream Rock Yacht that could be booked on its own or in combination with the LY for larger groups. Link- https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16469493?s=51 Please see the aerial drone photographs I have provided for a sense of the layout. To the east is a vast expanse of open desert and boulder formations, and mountains. Immediately to the south is the National Park boundary. To the North are vast open views of the Sunfair dry lake and the mesas beyond. To the west are view of the mountains leading up to Big Bear. There are a total of 3 neighboring houses, only one of which is occupied full-time and one is not occupied at all. They are all a fair distance away from where the Land Yacht is situated. I mention this only because I have noticed that a few guests were surprised that there was anything else at all in the area, instead thinking that it was completely isolated in the middle of nothing. To be clear that is not the case, but it is extremely private(probably even more so than one of the camp sites in the park) and set against wide open nature. Note Regarding Photo Shoots - We do alot of film and photo production here, so.. If you are a Professional/Commercial photo or film shoot attempting to book this property, I do not accept shoot booking via Airbnb unless directly agreed to in writing by me, and industry standard location fee rates will apply. You can message me directly and I will negotiate a fair rate based on what you are shooting and how big your crew is going to be, and how much equipment, etc, etc. But do not attempt to bring a photo shoot production/or crew in here secretly, without my expressed permission. You will be found out, you will be stopped, and you will be kicked out immediately, with the forfeit of your booking. So don't try it, you've been warned. Thank you, and moving on.. The Land Yacht is a really unique experience, with a fantastic setting, and a great vibe. At night it feels a little like you are in some kinda spaceship surrounded by boulders and stars. It's a great spot to base your Joshua Tree adventure from. You can also see more fun Airstream life pics on our Instagram account @thejoshuatreeyachtclub , Please join the club and follow us, Welcome Aboard!
This neighborhood of Panorama heights is one of the best areas to be in all of Joshua Tree, and Joshua Tree in general is a really amazing and special place, some call it a vortex spot. If you believe that there are special unique places in the world with an extra special something then you know what that means, if you don't believe in that kinda stuff then you might after visiting! When you book, along with check in instructions; you will be sent my list of local suggestion of great things to see and do in Joshua Tree and the surrounding area. • There few words other than AMAZING that are capable of describing this airstream getaway. My GF and I came for 2 nights to explore Joshua tree and continued to talk about the experience even after we checked out. Crystal was a great communicator and had a long list of great recommendations (hikes, restaurants, stores...etc) that we enjoyed reading and picking from. If you are looking for a place to get away from everyday chaos and experience tiny living, this is definitely it. We will definitely be returning in the future!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Sean2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at this airstream was a great experience. The location is beautiful at night and during sunrise. There is a nice fireplace and BBQ grill for all your camping needs. Sasha & Crystal were super responsive and that made the whole process seamless.

  • This house is absolutely adorable and very well designed with lots of cute touches. We brought wood and enjoyed the fireplace, jacuzzi was amazing and pretty private, the main space was inviting and great for lounging, working, watching tv or yoga. WiFi was great for both my boyfriend and I to work remotely. We thoroughly enjoyed the view from all of the beautiful windows that let light flood in. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook meals in (bring baggies or tupperware for leftovers). Bed and sheets were comfy, towels were great. Great location, walking distance to slopes and short drive to town.

  • Thank you for opening up your space to us! The attention to detail and thoughtfulness behind each item was greatly appreciated. It was a much needed relaxing end to our vacation and the perfect spot to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you!!

  • This is a fantastic find! Everything was perfect. It was a magical destination and over-all experience. Definitely recommend.

    Zoe2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a thoughtfully designed and zen little bungalow. It's truly private! I came for a quick solo getaway for about 36 hours and it was exactly what I needed. Every door you open and every corner you turn, there is a little delightful surprise waiting for you Margaux thought of literally EVERYTHING you could ever want for a mini spa retreat and had it available with the cutest little instructions thoughtfully placed. The soaking tub was my fav part - I'll definitely be back!

    Anayo2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great privacy, beautiful views, and incredible location. The best bang for your buck.

    Michael2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Margaux’s Stinson Zen Den is one of a kind. We felt like we spent a weekend in Japan, taking baths, wearing our kimonos and drinking tea overlooking the ocean. It feels hidden but is a 2 min walk to the Main Street and the town’s 3 restaurants, maybe 5 mins to the beach. We hope to be back soon!

    Alex2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Margaux’s is exactly as described and it is amazing. Absolutely gorgeous.

    Cely2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here on a leap day weekend trip from San Francisco and really enjoyed this little oasis. The indoor/outdoor bathroom was my favorite part- awesome to use the rain shower head while looking out at the beautiful garden. Good location, unique abode, great service from Margaux!

    Alison2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We Loved this place so much! The room is perfect. Small, but it has everything that you could possibly need. The view of the beach is amazing and they have a private walkway that gets you to the beach and restaurants in minutes! We will be coming back for sure!

Very private stand alone bedroom studio in the California coastal redwoods. Brand new hot tub installed recently! Fully remodeled bathroom (as of Feb 2020)and bonus room in main house with private entrance. Stunning views. Self serve light breakfast included. Close to secluded beaches, San Francisco & Silicon Valley.
Your cozy, romantic and peaceful bedroom cottage is a recently designed and built private stand-alone studio cottage deep in the heart of the California coastal redwoods. A fantastic, therapeutic, (and mighty fun) hot tub, perfect for one or two has just been installed for the exclusive use of guests. Note that the bathroom is not attached to the studio. It is a 40 foot walk to a private entrance to the main house which has a bonus room and full bathroom. Ideally located in the San Francisco Bay Area, you are about an hour away from San Francisco, 30 minutes from Stanford University and Silicon Valley, 20 minutes from the stunning beauty of the California coast, and 1 hour from Santa Cruz, yet you are a million miles away from it all. The cottage has heated walnut floors, wood French doors, and windows with stunning views in nearly all directions. A new queen size platform bed with a variety of pillows (including 2 down pillows, a cervical pillow and a foam pillow just in case you want a choice) awaits you. Artwork, all made by local artisans, adorns the walls. Wickedly Fast (150+ Mbps) Wi-Fi so that you are never too far from it all if you choose. For those who want more specifics, recent download speeds are in the 150-200 Mbps range at the main house, and a bit slower at the studio. Amenities in the studio include a new refrigerator/freezer stocked with bottled water, sparkling water, soft drinks and milk/cream for your coffee, a selection of yogurts, and choice of fresh juices. There is also a microwave and electric water kettle. For breakfast, the studio is stocked with a locally roasted Peet's coffee or award winning Blue Bottle Coffee (regular and decaf), with a French press or cone filter, a wide selection of Smith Brothers teas from Portland, fresh fruit, and the best darn cereal around, made in small batches in Berkeley. I've recently added an additional basket of snacks. The selection changes regularly. There is a small writing desk and chair if you wish to start writing the great American novel. Paper and pens are included for your inspiration! Additional amenities upon request include an iron and ironing board, a small propane BBQ with BBQ utensils, and a single burner induction cooktop with pots and pans as needed. Please let me know as far in advance as possible of your requests so that I can have them available. There is a very hip bluetooth enabled clock radio, with pretty decent sound and a USB jack in the back in case you need to charge your fun electronic devices. There is a television in the bonus space in the main house. Cellular phone reception is best with ATT, but other services are operational as well. A separate full bathroom is accessible from your own private entrance to the main house. The bathroom has just had a full remodel as of February 2020. The location of the bathroom and bonus room are a 40 foot walk across a redwood deck from your private studio. The bathroom has a tiled shower tub combination. There are plenty of amenities in the bathroom including items for your exclusive use. These include toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, razors, even lens solution for your contacts. A recent addition are brand new all organic, free trade Boll and Branch towels. You'll find them to be fluffy and super absorbent. The bonus room has a leather couch and wide screen television with Apple TV and Netflix! The private studio cottage is a well-designed, light filled 120 square feet. The bonus room and bath are a separate additional combined total of about 150 square feet.
The studio is in a very quiet location. There are generally only a couple of cars per hour that drive though the neighborhood. There is even less traffic at night. The neighborhood is surrounded by county parks including Tunitas Creek Open Space Preserve and Del Corte De Madera Open Space which are within walking distance. There is no traffic noise. Local restaurants include great dining at Alice's Restaurant, and the Mountain House within a 10-15 minute drive. Menus are available in the studio cottage. The area is a mountain biking and hiking paradise, with miles of trails within a couple miles of your front door. The studio cottage is at 2100 feet in elevation. Winter storms can be dramatic to witness. The stunning, quiet and vast California ocean beaches are accessible with a 20 minute scenic drive through the woods. This is a quiet, secluded destination. One the most stunning drives along the California coast is only 20 minutes away. The scenic and beautiful San Mateo county coast is undeveloped with many secluded sandy beaches available for you to explore.
  • Great host! We could have not picked a better place to spend our anniversary during a pandemic. The jacuzzi was amazing at night. This place is secluded and romantic. Will definitely be back.

    Erica2020-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely little getaway for my wife and me among the redwoods in the mountains. It was very cozy and beautiful! The hot tub was just what the doctor ordered on the chilly evenings and the host Tom let us use a grill for dinners. Anything we could have needed he had ready for our stay. There’s a ton of hiking in the area and we spent a fun day down at the beach which isn’t far at all. This was one of the best Airbnb’s we’ve stayed in thanks to the location, setup and outstanding host.

    Tyler2020-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I were able to check in without a problem and the space is clean and tidy. It felt great to be surrounded by trees while relaxing in the hot tub and we both wish we could have stayed longer. Tom was a great host!

    Kumar2020-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re reading this, book it. You will not regret.

    Justtice2020-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tom's place is a beautiful, serene, sparkling clean oasis. If you are looking for some quiet time in a peaceful place, with only the wind in the trees keeping you company, you've found it. The studio and private entrance room to the main house are immaculate and well appointed. The private hot tub on a cool night made this weekend trip extra indulgent. Tom has thoughtful touches everywhere (coffee, snacks, instructions, etc) and is super responsive for questions.

    Julie2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend this beautiful private guest tree house. With the jacuzzi in the middle of the deck you can look out or look up and all you see is trees for miles! It was exactly the escape we were looking for! Completely surrounded by nature but having all the amenities you need to thrive. Tom was also very friendly and helpful, he guided us to some fantastic trails.

    Stanislav2020-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I absolutely loved our stay at Tom's. Its secluded, its quiet and beautiful. It also feels like 5 star service with no staff. Tom supplies teas, coffees, chocolates and snacks and does the dishes! He ensures the hot tub is hot at arrival and has an amazing shower and tv center. Tom recommended local take out and grocers. We used the heck out of the hot tub, grill and TV and will absolutely be returning

    Krystal2020-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • YOU ALL NEED TO STAY HERE! Just in the 2 nights that we got to stay in this magical spot in the trees, I have recommended it to so many of my friends because it’s just- magic! Waking up to the foggy forest & hearing the birds, it’s unlike any other. The tiny home is also amazing, Tom provides everything you could need- and extras like snacks, fully stocked fridge with many different drinks & the hot tub is just the cherry on top. We loved our stay, and cannot wait to come back!

That will be done BEFORE you arrive to surprise your partner. We’ve done these packages, they look fantastic, and we don’t show images for a reason. We want both of you to be surprised and guarantee you will love everything and rejuvenate in a luxurious cabin for a romantic trip to remember. Frequently Asked Questions Q: How do I book the package? A: Any time during your booking process send us a message with the preferred package number. We will confirm your inquiry with the additional payment request after your reservation is made. Q: Your tub looks hot, we love how you lay petals and thinking to get one of the packages. Will our tub be designed the same when we arrive at your cabin? A: Your tub will be nice and clean before you arrive, won’t have water in it and with bubbles and stuff. After all, we want you to have a hot tub, not a cooling tub. Quick Tip: You may get just the petals from our local florist, the whole bag for about ten dollars. We poured some foaming bath and laid the petals around. Don't forget to add some bath salt too - it is good for your body ;) Q: We saw red petals on your pictures but in the packages you offer white. Is it a typo? A: We offer only white petals for your romance package because red petals would mark the bedding since we create a nice design on your bed out of the petals. But if you like red petals in your tub, feel free to pick up a bag from the florist and do your thing. Q: Why decorate our tub with led candles and not use real wax ones, aren't you for "authentic look and feel"? A: Yes, we are, but at the same time we think about your safety. Besides that, hot wax will be dripping down the tile and stone and then needs to be scrubbed off (tested). So if you want to have a piece of mind on your vacation, led candles will create that ambiance, carefree soaking experience and add a ton of safety. Contact us for any questions on romance packages and feel free to request special instructions for the card note. So join us and experience the wonders of Big Bear Lake. This stay will be your unforgettable memory.
Our house is located 1 minute (10 minutes by walk) away from The Village - charming shopping and entertainment neighborhood on beautiful Big Bear Lake. With several dozens of local vendors, the district can satisfy your every shopping wish in just one stop! Find delicious eats throughout the Village, including a couple of Indian cuisine, Italian restaurant and high end The Bone Yard Bar & Grill.

  • The cabin was perfect, me and my girlfriend loved the style of the house and set up. We enjoyed all the offerings the host gave and even enjoyed the little chocolates kisses left. The little details were taken care of so the bigger details were even better. Thank you Lovey-Dovey.

  • There is a public review page, good. Stay here. It’s a beautiful cabin, located a short walk from everything you’ll need. The jacuzzi-tub in the room is wonderfully comfortable and the television swivels to allow for a nice movie in the spa. There’s a fireplace in the room, too, which added so much to the ambience. The details in the place were cool, too. I liked the blinds at the backdoor. Also, I’ve stayed at three Airbnbs with the electric trash can, but this is the only one of them that worked. The owners care about your stay. They responded to us very fast and helped make our honeymoon a great time. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

  • Ryan & Darnie’s chalet far exceeded expectations! Very clean, very communicative - we will be back just as soon as we can!

    Christopher2020-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin! Love that there was a unofficial sledding hill across the street, made it great for the kids!

    Aaron2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice cabin, exactly as pictured and described. Very clean and comfortable. Quiet neighborhood. TV had mainstream channels vs just Apple programming. Mountains out windows were nice to look at.

  • Great cabin, close to the slopes. Accommodates 8 greatly. Great cast iron pans! Answers questions quickly and cute decor.

  • The photos are nice but it is even better once you are there. It is like staying in a suite at a lodge. Really thoughtfully designed with the "tahoe feel/look". You can actually see some mountain outside the main window along with forest. The place is setup where you really enjoy being inside and you don't feel like it is just a place to sleep while you explore Tahoe. It is part of the experience and at a fair price too.

Joshua Tree is full of artists and musicians, free-thinkers, hipsters, mixed with Marines from the military base in neighboring 29 Palms and not to forget desert rat characters who grew up in the desert or have been in the desert long enough to add plenty of character to the Joshua Tree mix. It makes for a good variety of personalities! In the village you can find locally owned cafe's, boutiques, thrift stores, plenty of antique stores and art galleries. It is 8 minutes from the downtown village of Joshua Tree and because of this we get very little light pollution at night (perfect for star gazing). The cabin is in a great location far enough away but close enough to several attractions. It is 1.5 miles from Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, The Integratron is 13 miles and Giant Rock is a few more. Cal Vipassana Center is 15 miles away. Let us know what you are interested in and we will point you in the right direction.
  • Wonderful place. The spice rack in ON POINT! Hot tub was great. Very picturesque. Also, privacy fence and no close neighbors make this a wonderfully remote and private stay! Would stay again and do recommend!

    Joshua2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Leafe and Katherine’s place is perfect for a little getaway. I love how the backyard is fenced to get that sense of privacy. I appreciate that they allow pets, it makes it easier to travel! We did a lot of cooking during our stay, and having all the pots and pans, as well as a ton of spices to choose was a great touch. I even got to use the French press! The heater kept the place nice and cozy for you after being out in the cold. They have tons of suggestions on where to go, whether than be in nature or at one of the local restaurants. I would definitely recommend their place!

    Jennifer2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect. Not too hard to get there (one dirt road), great directions, easy check in with a lock box, lots of local suggestions provided, hot water in the shower, fire pit, hot tub (my favorite part!!), And fast responses from the host. Great view of the stars, close to the national park, and the back yard is private with a fense. I will absolutely be staying here again next time I'm in the area.

    Shelby2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This homestead is the perfect place to be away from it all. It is so peaceful and has everything you need. We really enjoyed our stay. The communication with Leafe and Katherine was great, they responded within minutes. Highly recommended!

  • If you want to get off the beaten path ( a little) then this place is for you. Fantastic charm in a little cabin about 15 minutes outside of the main Joshua Tree strip. 30 min drive to National Park, quiet, secluded and the perfect spot to relax. Jacuzzi as the sun is going down is a must. Couldn't recommend more highly

    Stuart2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Just a lovely place to stay. The cabin was secluded and thoughtfully laid out. We had everything we needed for our stay and more. The hot tub was an especially nice feature as well as the telescope for star gazing. The hosts were very attentive and messaged us regularly to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. We would stay at the cabin again in a heart beat.

    Hayley2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful intimate space for a beautiful weekend— highly recommend!

    Emily2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at the cabin, and it was just was wonderful the second time around. We had been meaning to buy a guide to the constellations before our trip as the stargazing is so spectacular, but had forgotten; lo and behold, there was a guide in the cabin. A really thoughtful touch, much appreciated!

[Now open only for 30 days or more, by city regulation I welcome students, interns, etc. and those possibly looking for a new place to settle near Santa Barbara]................................ Natural Wonders is an unconventional, lived in, and somewhat quirky household, with private bedrooms that guests find "cozy", and the surroundings relaxing.
Lovely safe surroundings on Santa Barbara's Upper Riviera. In a gorgeous natural setting, the rather rustic hillside house is spread out and guests have access to everything.....high speed internet, hot tub (temporarily not operating because of drought) decks with views of the mountains, etc. The property has about 2 acres of tall trees, lush vegetation, and amazing wildlife. Although there's a feeling of isolation, it only takes minutes to drive to town, and is a serene refuge from crowds and traffic. [It's best if you have a car. The nearest bus is about a mile away on a hill] However, quite a few like the walk to town which is about 1/2 hour, and usually take Uber back home. You'll find quiet, privacy, and peaceful living in this beautiful mountain view share. Nestled in trees, with lots of garden and open space. Good modest room with very basic furnishings, and amenities of house, but bear in mind this is an old house and there are imperfections. The bathroom will probably be shared as I have two available rooms (see Natural Wonders/Privacy and Peace) It's not really possible to reserve one room or the other. Both probably have pluses and minuses! Longer term is usually interesting big wooden bed because it's harder to make and room has more storage space. Non-smoking mature guests. No drugs, moderate alcohol, no visitors. One single. Additional persons for $15 each. Generally no children, but child over 10 possible...please inquire Low rate for our expensive location and for people who want this special, casual, home atmosphere and don't expect pristine luxury, but value comfort. A month or more will be asked to share in utilities. Must like adorable, well, behaved dogs who do not invade your space! A compatible dog might be welcome if there are no other guests, and with extra deposit. Off street parking available. I offer fruit and goodies first morning. Longer term, you're on your own with my cereals. bread, milk and coffee, or any of your own.
I've lived in this spot the great majority of my life. So far, I wouldn't consider anywhere else. I guess it's the Natural Wonders of it all :) Good neighborhood walks and/or possibility for extensive hikes in the hills. Public transit is about a mile away and we are on a steep hill. It is best to have a car unless walking is preferable and you are good with directions!
  • I had an amazing time staying with Arlene! I'm so grateful to have met her. She was incredibly sweet, super accommodating, and so helpful.

    Melanie2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was great!

    Alex2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Arlene's house is up the hill, in beautiful surroundings and with great views of the mountains. I stayed for 3 months and she really made me feel at home and welcome. It is not the most modern house, but it has lots of character. Stay here if you're looking for a homy place!

    Pomme2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Arlenes home is quite a unique beauty, nestled in hills with beautiful views of the surrounding area and with a fantastic garden overlooking the mountains. I loved going out every day to admire a wonderful mix of plants and to observe an active and diverse bird population :) Arlene was super friendly and lives an inspiring and interesting life, full of vibrant dance classes and humanitarianism at multiple levels. Her home is perfect for the open minded traveler curious for a unique and interesting experience around people living lives of truth. Thank you Arlene for being an accommodating host!!

    Jeremy2019-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • I haven't left Arlene's but had switched from one room to another in order to extend my stay. Everything I said in an earlier review is still true. It's magical here and under 20 minutes to most places including the beach. For me it's the best of both World's. Arlene is a wonderful host that I now consider a treasured friend.

    Pamela2018-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • I had wonderful 4.5 weeks at Arlene’s place and her pictures her gave me the right impressions on what to expect. I travelled on my own and this place was perfect for this: Arlene is very welcoming and I even had a nice roommate who rented the other room. So I never felt lonely on my vacation. I loved the views, the garden and all those little chipmunks and sometimes deer that you could see around the garden - as well as Arlene’s two dogs. Arlene’s place is very nice with a lot of little details like a billion little lights outside that you can admire during the dark. If you like a rest during the day you can sit on the front deck and relax. I did not rent a car and if you want to relax in Santa Barbara this is not necessary. I totally loved walking down the hill (to the „Old mission“) and did this almost every day. Sometimes I even walked until I reached downtown. In total I walked a lot and found this very nice and relaxing. You can take the waterfront shuttle once you reach the Arlington theatre and get a lift for 0.50 USD up and down State St. Otherwise I used Lyft and Uber for reaching my destinations (mostly about 10 USD/ride for reaching destinations in Santa Barbara). I would always go back if I came again to Santa Barbara!!

    Janina2018-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Arlene was such a sweet and kind host. She makes sure that you are comfortable and that everything you need is taken care of. The view from the house is beautiful and the area is very peaceful. I truly enjoyed my stay at this awesome house.

    Bassem2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Arlene's place is on the quiet side of the hills above the city giving a rural feel with mountain views but still close enough to downtown, a ten minute drive away. I liked to sit on the deck in the garden drinking a coffee while reading or taking in the panorama. Arlene herself is very friendly and always ready to chat or help her guests. The rooms are probably best suited for travelers staying longer term, weeks or months rather than days.

  • Our jaws dropped when we pulled up over the hill and saw the view laid out in front of this little Haus. Six people fit comfortably in the hot tub which was a lifesaver on the cold mornings and windy desert nights of our mid-March visit. Daniela and Richard were extremely quick to respond when we had questions and they put a lot of thought into creating an excellent little desert retreat.

    Andrew2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Daniela and Richard were amazing hosts. We had a great time and the place was as breathtaking as the pictures.

    Michael2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Green Haus was a wonderful place to get away and slow down. Although it was too windy and cold to enjoy the outdoor space during our stay, it would have been a perfect area to enjoy an Al fresco dinner or morning cup of coffee. The hot tub was relaxing and an excellent way to end the day after hiking and exploring Joshua Tree National Park. We will definitely recommend Green Haus to all our friends and family!

  • This was our second time at this wonderful home and it was as equally peaceful, nurturing, and lovely as the first. We hiked Bartlett Mountain which was a treat! At night, we'd bring a cozy blanket outside and watch shooting stars from the lounge chairs. This is a special place!

Fall asleep to the sound of ocean waves in this charming beachfront apartment. The light, airy home features open-plan living and a wall of windows to maximize the amazing views. Enjoy drinks on the deck and a sunset over the water—it's pure bliss.
This beachfront apartment is right above the sand and surf. At night the sounds of the sea will lull you to sleep. During the day, you can watch the sea lions sunning on the rocks and dolphins and whales swimming by or go for a walk along the water's edge and dive in yourself. This is an amazing place to have a glass of wine and watch the sunset and relax! In the evening, the lights of the "Queen's Necklace" glimmer in the distance and the moonlight shines on the water. The living room is cozy with two loveseats to snuggle in and watch a movie on the 50" flat screen TV. Three large sliding glass doors open up if you want to let the ocean breezes blow through. The kitchen is small but fully equipped with an apartment size stove and oven, a microwave, a Keurig coffee maker and a French press, tea kettle, toaster and all the dishes and pots and pans you need. A round table with linens provides a beautiful spot for morning coffee. The bedroom has a queen bed with a new organic mattress and designer sheets, pillows and duvet. There is a large closet with room to store your clothes. Books line the bookshelves if you'd like something to read. Mostly, this is just a quiet, beautiful space to put your feet up and really relax while watching the endless panorama of the natural world outside. And....if you want to feel like a movie star, the apartment was recently used as a glamorous setting in an independent film due out soon!!!
Situated directly above the sand and surf, the home is in a residential area along the Malibu coast, away from the tourist areas. Take in the stars at night while strolling along the beach, or eat at one of the nearby restaurants right on the water.
  • I love this place in the world. Beautiful and high end rustic design. The waves outside are something I love, some might think they are a lot, but if you love the ocean, it’s literally under the house, the seals and birds dive fishing, I loved it all. The bathroom is soothing and I love the double chairs and ottomans, very comfortable to do nothing and stare into the water. Connie and her husband are sweet people that I didn’t see much because of the quarantine time we live in now, but as I was leaving we saw each other and could see why the place is so special. Thanks Connie! I will return one day.

  • This is THE perfect spot for a romantic and relaxing getaway. All of our expectations were exceeded from the cozy beach bungalow to the ocean lapping up right against the house during high tide to a beautiful, rugged beach to walk and explore during low tide. Access to the beach is just 4 houses down to easily get to our daily walk. A fully stocked kitchen and close access to restaurants made meals a breeze. Malibu has a special vibe, spiritual and peaceful. We will be back for years to come! Thank you Connie!!

    Shannon2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment really is stunning and the photos do it justice - it is picture perfect. A beautiful place to relax and listen to / watch the Pacific waves. A few metres above the beach with glorious sunsets and wildlife - yet only 10 - 15 mins drive / Uber to Santa Monica and LA beyond. Connie is a perfect host, great communication and check in. Very accommodating and will help should you require it, which you likely wont need to do as the apartment has everything you will need. We'd stay there again and again if we had the chance.

    Grant2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Can't be closer to waves than this, period. You are literally floating on top of the waves at night, and the sunset was just phenomenal. We've been to many countries and many beaches but this was a different experience. Definitely would like to stay again in the future. Thank you for everything Connie!

  • This apartment is really a wonderful location, the ocean provides a humbling beauty. It really is so perfect. In my comings and goings I came across Ed, his was immediately helpful and willing to help me bring up the kayak if I needed. It was nice to interact with such a nice and helpful person during my stay. I always come away with very fond memories each time I've stay at Ed and Connie's place.

The house was clean, very comfortable and in a quiet neighborhood. My wife and I are regular visitors to Joshua Tree and we would not hesitate to call upon Daniel again to rent his home.

We enjoyed our means at Crossroads Café and also ate at Kitchen in the Desert in 29 Palms after leaving the park. Be sure to enjoy the hammock triangle and watch the stars come out.

Looking for a lovely place to stay with amazing views? At Mineral King Guest House, you'll feel like you're up in the trees or right in the Milky Way. We are two miles from the Foothills entrance station for Sequoia National Park. The apartment is about 500 square feet in two rooms plus a bathroom. It is directly under and completely separate from the main living space of the house.
Mineral King Guest House has a complete kitchen with a gas barbecue outside. A stove, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, etc., allows you to cook meals if you choose to eat in. Coffee, juice, bagels, fruit, condiments, and a variety of snacks are provided for your convenience. The apartment has one bedroom, with a queen bed, and a full-size fold-out couch in the living room area. The space is ideal for a couple, plus one additional person. In addition, we could put a fold-out futon on the floor of the bedroom. The apartment has a unique, triangular-shaped bathroom with shower. Outside, you may sit at a bistro table to watch the hummingbirds, or relax on the spacious deck while viewing Moro Rock and the Kaweah River. Access to a the washer and dryer can be arranged in advance. A variety of games and books is available along with Wifi. Our home is very private and uniquely built around a hillside. The panoramic view is spectacular - you'll wake up with a smile as you watch the hills turn golden in the morning sun, and you'll experience the peaceful rose glow from the setting sun.
We're just 2 miles from the entrance to Sequoia National Park at Ash Mountain, and 30 miles from Giant Forest and the General Sherman Tree. Take binoculars when you climb Moro Rock and see if you can spot our house from the top. In the summer and fall, you can continue up our road to Mineral King where hiking trails range from easy to challenging. You can also reach the park by going to the end of South Fork Rd, where the ladybugs hibernate in the winter. If you like mountain biking, consider heading up Skyline Drive and exploring the trails on the BLM property at Salt Creek. Nearby attractions include mountain biking, river rafting (in season), swimming and house boating on the lake, and trail rides through the local stables. St. Anthony's Retreat Center is close by and offers a great place for reflection. If archeology is your passion, you can explore the area for Native American artifacts, grinding holes, and pictographs, particularly at Hospital Rock. Local restaurants offer a variety of dining options. We highly recommend Sierra Subs and Salads. If shopping interests you, we have several options. Heart's Desire will provide exactly the right gift to take home to family and friends. The Barn has a variety of selections from local artists. Nadi Spencer's art studio is always a treat to visit.
  • This Airbnb was an absolute dream! Something out of a 'Nature Lover's Getaway' type magazine. The house itself is so beautiful in its design. Huge windows and beautiful wood work. The deck is such a tranquil place and its view is absolutely breathtaking. The views (river-mountains-trees), the sounds (roaring river-birds singing), the smells (nature!)... it was all so special. Sue was a warm and welcoming host with great recommendations. All the little touches around the AirBnB (books, games, coffee) made us feel at home. I would definitely return.

    Marci2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • I wish I could’ve stayed here longer !! I came here for a weekend getaway even though the park and some local businesses were closed we still were able to go into town for necessities ! The view and sounds of the birds were very relaxing. Sue was so friendly as we arrived which makes the experience even better. I wanted to add how adorable it was to be able to sign a guest book to look back on one day ! We were able to grill and sit out and enjoy the sunset. Can’t wait to come back!

  • Love this place! So beautiful!

    Catherine2020-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's guest house was the most peaceful, warm, and absolutely the best guest house I had stayed at. The view from the guest house was stunning, I got to see dears right outside her backyard. Woke up every morning to the most gorgeous view of the river and lush green mountains. This is definitely the perfect place to escape to if you need to get away from the crazy city life. I had booked for one night but could help stay an extra night because of the beauty her place has to offer. Her cat came to pay us a little visit and greet us. There were several humming birds that would come by during sunset. Sue was so welcoming and lovely, she gave us suggests on walks that we could do around the area. I will definitely be coming back to stay at her guest house again.

    Asher2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect destination for a relaxing weekend getaway. My partner and I left San Francisco to explore some of the nature Northern California had to offer — we ended up extending our stay by an extra night because the house + the nearby area was so wonderful. Waking up next to a giant sunny window with a beautiful view of the grassy hills and sounds of a calming wind chime was a dream. There are also hummingbirds nearby the house and they stop by the feeders daily, which was great to watch as we had never seen them before. We loved cooking in the kitchen and it was fully stocked for all of our needs. Sue has everything prepared — spices, spreads, jams, beverages, baking supplies, even bottles of wine. The space heater made it warm and cozy to come home after a long snowy hike in Sequoia. We also loved exploring the little shops in the town — there was a great ice cream place along with many restaurants and grocery stores where we picked up ingredients to make dinner. Thanks for making our first weekend trip so special and memorable! We loved staying here and hope to come back soon.
