Holiday rentals with lake access in Rotorua

We loved our stay at Toka Ridge and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great home base near Rotorua. The surroundings are so beautiful and serene, just on the lakeside. The location is convenient to Rotorua and the surrounding areas, and also close to grocery shops in Ngongotaha and other attractions, like the stunning Hamurana Springs and Okere Falls. The home itself is also beautiful and very well-appointed - we had everything we needed for our four-night stay. We felt very comfortable during our stay and wished we could have stayed longer! Communication with the hosts was easy, efficient, and friendly.

Rotorua has infinite activities from which to choose and the air BNB was the perfect place to take advantage of everything the town has to offer. you see the island in the Maori stories from every room and the deck. the kayaks are a huge treat. it was difficult eating out because the comfort and views from the deck and dining table can't be beat. we slept great, found everything we needed and enjoyed every minute of our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at Buddy and Rachel’s. We spent 3 nights here as a group of three. The home was more spacious than expected and extremely comfortable. We loved the attention to detail and the high end finishes and comfy bedding. The yard was very private and full of various fruit trees, truly a little oasis. The home itself was very well equipped with everything you’d need for a short or longer stay. The hosts were very responsive, friendly, and easy going. This is a great jumping off point if you want to explore Rotorua and its surrounding areas but stay in a comfortable and affordable spot. Highly recommend!

The minute we walked into Serenity Escape we were struck by the gorgeous views and the cleanliness of the home. The owner was extremely responsive to my inquiries and offered helpful suggestions when asked. There were instructions around the house for everything. I particularly enjoyed the photography and artwork that the owner created and displayed. He wrote beautiful descriptions of each piece and placed it under each. The home truly creates a sense of calm and beauty. The owner put his heart and soul into creating a welcoming and, as the name states, serene home that they share with others. I will definitely return next time I plan a trip to Rotorua!

I met Aimee and she was lovely and so gracious! She gave us great recommendations on what to do in town for the short duration we had. The place was a truly beautiful and peaceful oasis on the lake. Stunning views and gorgeous sunset. The place is gorgeous and the bed is so comfortable. This was one of the best places we stayed at. Thank you so much for hosting us. Five stars all around! :)

Such a beautiful place to stay. Felt very homely and our hosts were so accomodating after a long travel day. The views from the house and location were central to everything. Would definitely book again!

We love our stay in Huia's place. The house was immaculate with everything we needed for a comfortable stay for two adults and two children. It was very close to town and you could either walk or cycle and you can even see a little bit of the lake from the back of the house. The house had a lovely garden that attracted birds and sparked the curiosity of my children. There were also a nice selection of books and some games. Huia was a very good host and communication was great. I highly recommended it :).

Lovely flat, in a perfect location. There’s nowhere better to stay in rotorua. Kristin was a great host, responsive and has brilliant recommendations on things to do.

Great place to stay, incredible views every morning and very friendly host who made me feel very welcome. The home was very well furnished, the beds were extremely comfortable. I will remember this place very fondly and will hope to be back one day

Stuart's place is 100% in everyway. A well presented home, has a well equipped kitchen, it could use a fry pan lid. Think maybe the bbq isnt used much, was a bit rusty. This didnt change me wanting to give a five 5 star review. The deep bath is amazing. The view, the privacy, and the quite space, were amazing, it was a great place to come back to after a day of sightseeing. It was just what we were looking for. Wonderful host, friendly. Would re book if back his way again.

Susie's loft is spacious and comfortable, and only 5 mins walk away from the lake. Smooth check in and out. Would love to stay again!

And the electric blanket was a blessing.” - says mum If you’re looking for a comfortable resting place with tasteful decor, luxurious & unique additions like a towel warmer rack, homemade jams, Netflix on tv, extra pillows & cushions, actually nice smelling bathroom products, a cookie jar & coffee machine, fruit from the garden if you’re lucky, filtered spring water every day, and a little lovely breakfast bar, look no further than Janey’s place. So many extras I hadn’t expected, Janey went above and beyond to accommodate my mum and myself with such warmth & kindness. Oh did I mention the water view from the rooms? Spectacular. We stayed 4 nights and loved coming back to being able to have dinner at home, even with a kitchenette, some extra cooking appliances from Janey helped, she was just so thoughtful! Thank you Janey, you made our trip with your hospitality. Highly recommend.

We loved our stay at Addictive View & only wished we could have stayed longer! A beautiful peaceful location with a gorgeous view. The apartment had everything we could need & was very cosy & comfortable. We highly enjoyed just spending the nights in, enjoying the view & playing cards or reading. Highly recommend it.

This was a wonderful place to stay. Nigel provided excellent instructions in advance, the place was exactly like described, and there were obvious personal touches to help us feel welcome during our stay. Loved the character of the place, and also the short walk to the lake. We’d like to return to sometime.

Staying at Lucy's was like being in a dream. The perfect, idyllic, lakeside Kiwi-bach, this place matches all descriptions and photos. This place has everything - from a cozy fireplace, to kayaks to explore the lake and a modern bathroom, our family absolutely enjoyed staying here. There was a lot to do and keep yourself entertained with, we didn't struggle with having no wifi. The location is great, only 30 minutes to Rotorua and a lot of places to sightsee on the way there. The only downside of this place is that since it's close to the road there is some traffic noise, especially when big trucks go by. It wasn't an issue for us when staying there since we're city dwellers and accompanied to traffic noise, but if you're a light sleeper definitely bring ear plugs.

The whole stay was amazing such lovely views and comphy accomodation. The lake views in the mornings were stunning . We enjoyed our barbecue meals and the children loved using the bikes thank you.

This is the second time we have stayed at the lake house in Lake Tarawera, We couldn't recommend it enough! Such an awesome spot if you have a boat or jetskis , If not they have kayaks you are welcome to use. Playground is about a 3-5 minute walk for the kids, Tennis Court is right at your door step. All the neighbors are very friendly and make you feel right at home. If your thinking about booking don't think about it just book it you will have an amazing time!

We absolutely loved our stay at Kearu’s Nest. The beds were so comfortable, and the linen was beautiful. After a magical day on the lake, it was amazing to come home to an outdoor fire and relax in the spa. The birdlife was incredible, and the tūī birdsong made it even more special. With just a short walk to the lake, we made the most of early morning swims. We will definitely be back. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality, Ange and Dave!

Lovely place close to the lake and a quick drive to Rotorua. The patio was super fun to hang out and we loved the outdoor shower. We liked staying here!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, loved the 2 living areas the boys played board games in the enclosed porch while my partner got some netflix in. We enjoyed cooking our pizzas in the Woodfire pizza oven. Gorgeous walk down to the river, lots to do nearby, and I got the best sleep in the comfy bed! Thank you very much.

Dan's place is just a piece of paradise! Right in front of the lake, with private jetty and private ramp, away from the main road, totally safe for children. Highly recommend! Dan is very responsive and welcoming, makes you feel like home. Looking forward to return again!

We absolutely loved our stay at Rita’s cottage! We spent three wonderful nights there and felt right at home from the moment we arrived. The cottage is thoughtfully equipped with everything you could need — a well-stocked kitchen, incredibly comfortable beds, and a relaxing spa that’s perfect after a long day of travel and exploring. The personal touches made the stay even more special. We really enjoyed the homemade honey and soap, and our son had a great time with the wide selection of board games. Beatrice was a fantastic host — responsive, kind, and attentive. She answered all our questions promptly, offered us early check-in, and even went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed to accommodate our laundry needs. We truly loved every moment of our stay and only wished we could have stayed longer!
