Barn accommodation in North York Moors National Park

We had a great stay – the house was lovely and the hosts were incredibly welcoming. They kindly offered us a later checkout, which gave us a more relaxed morning. The location was ideal for visiting York, with the park and ride nearby making everything super convenient. Thank you for having us (and our energetic kids!) – much appreciated

We are always surprised when searching then stumble across a place like Crabtree Barn. it was fantastic perfect in every way. The pictures do not do it justice. Great outdoor area, views are perfect and the area quiet.

Really fab place to stay, peaceful loving surroundings. We enjoyed the sheep who came to the fence to visit frequently.

Wonderful place, as Bev says - the place gives you a warm hug. Relaxing, quiet, and perfect rest for us and our anxious rescue dog! Lovely being near the river, lots of birds and wildlife nearby. Felt right at home and hope to return again soon!

Caroline’s cottage is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable and lovely and peaceful as it is set back from the main road. Caroline kindly let us check in early which was perfect as it was the only nice day we had in the north and so were able to go out and enjoy the Moors. The surrounding area is beautiful and there are lots of extremely nice places to visit and great dining opportunities! As all the other visitors say, it is a fabulous place to stay and we would love to return if we are back in the area ! Thank you again Caroline !

What a wonderful place .. I cannot fault it at all .. all the facilities you need including comfy beds and powerful showers .. so restful and peaceful yet in easy reach of so many places .. thats if you want to venture out .. also just a lovely place to spend time in and relax .. with Allendale Town a short walk away which is simply charming! It was lovely to meet Richard on arriving and to get a look around at the ‘small plot big ideas’ and meet the all animals especially dogs Darcy and Jess! Our time was over all too quickly but O would return in a heart beat!♥️

What a beautiful place to stay, I wish we’d booked more than one night, we will definitely back, the little touches were lovely aswell, milk and Prosecco in the fridge and ice in the freezer, it was perfect. Thank you

An absolutely lovely place and not far from anywhere like Whitby bay Robin hoods bay were all within easy reach. Beautiful surroundings and a lovely restaurant down the road called the Grainary also lovely restaurant called the plough in Scalby which is a short drive away. The owners were so welcoming and so attentive. Very dog friendly. I would highly recommend this place.

Really enjoyed the peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. The stables are great for time away from it all. Very well looked after. Great to have have the outdoor space too.

Property is in a beautiful location with great views down to the coast. Everything was spotlessly clean and very homely. A great base for visiting the surrounding area.

A fantastic getaway very near to the M6. So cosy and homely. Lovely touches like fresh eggs and milk for breakfast. Very nicely decorated with Lake District themed art, beautiful countryside setting and views and friendly host.

Beautiful place and outstanding scenery. Hosts very responsive and friendly. Everything was perfect and greatly exceeded our expectations. Will definitely be visiting again and I highly recommend this to anyone wanting the perfect break. Our dog loved it and the enclosed garden was perfect and large.

The barn was absolutely beautiful. The welcome package was a lovely touch and very thoughtful. Definitely worth the price wish we booked 2 nights! Will definitely be back.

Fantastic host, really friendly and accommodating. Very responsive to message and easy to chat with. The accommodation is clean, tidy, all modern fixtures and fittings. The beds are clean and comfortable. Super location to explore the local sites and sounds. Would highly recommend and will hopefully revisit some day.

We stayed at Bruce and Anita’s beautiful cottage and from start to finish their communication was excellent.. on arrival Anita had baked some beautiful whole meal bread and had bought us a lovely chocolate cake , and we were welcomed by lovely music on the Alexa .. Archie our Airedale terrier also loved the treats they left for him . The cottage was enchanting , pristine a beautiful enclosed garden for Archie and had everything we needed for our 3 day stay .. the views were breathtaking and it was so peaceful , quiet and the village and river were within walking distance. Hubby is a keen birdwatcher and enjoyed the conversation with Anita about all the birds within the location and was impressed they had 7 swift bird boxes .. Anita , Bruce and their beautiful dogs ( 3 rough collies) cottage comes highly recommended and we hope to revisit soon x Thankyou

We had a lovely stay at Kelly and Neal’s cottage. The cottage was clean, spacious, and very comfortable with all necessary amenities. Beautiful and peaceful location on the farm, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Kelly was super communicative and responded quickly to any questions. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a countryside stay.

Great little annex, spacious and clean with great amenities. Was greeted with fresh bread and brownies, butter and eggs. The bread and brownies were delicious. Amazing views and so quiet. Enjoyed seeing the birds feeding off the feeder, especially the woodpecker. Lovely wood burner. A good base for either walks around the area or to see the Roman ruins or for attractions further afield in Northumberland.

We had an amazing 2-night stay at Jane’s place. The house is absolutely beautiful and set in breathtaking surroundings—the photos really don’t do it justice, as the real thing is far more exquisite. The decor is warm and homely, yet spacious enough to comfortably fit the five of us. Both bathrooms were spotless—one with a shower and the other with a bathtub, which gave us the flexibility to choose. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, including ample fridge space. The garden is also worth mentioning—gorgeous and clearly very well cared for. We especially loved the fireplace; it truly felt like the cherry on top of an already perfect stay. The house manual was detailed and extremely helpful, covering everything we needed to know. Jane was a wonderful host—so warm and thoughtful. She welcomed us with a lovely letter and some delicious biscuits, which made us feel right at home from the start. Highly recommended!

We have just returned from a few nights away staying at this little piece of paradise. If you’re after a tranquil, relaxing holiday then this is the place to stay. From the house itself, to the spectacular views , the amazing pool house and the lovely, friendly neighbours, this place ticks all the boxes and more. Highly recommend visiting The Queens Arms for a meal (or just a cheeky drink), the staff are so friendly and just made our time away extra special. Malham is only a 20 min (ish) drive away and is stunning (a must see). The only thing I would advise is to make sure you take plenty of supplies (or do an online shop for delivery as we did) as the local shop is a 20min drive away. Thankyou again David, we will definitely be back.

The cottage was lovely; lots of lovely touches and decor. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need, with tea bags, coffee, hot chocolate etc provided. The beds were super comfy. We were a little nervous of the parking situation, but it was absolutely fine - the square is very open with quite a few cars parked overnight, so we didn’t feel at all concerned about leaving the car. It was a little noisy with lorry traffic in the night and early hours, so worth taking ear plugs if you are sensitive to noise. Overall we had a lovely stay. We were lucky enough to have dinner at Where There’s Smoke, and we really recommend it for a special meal.

Had a lovely night in this beatifull and peacefull location. Local places such as pubs/restaurants are not walkable but only a short drive gives lots of choice. We went to the spotted ox in tockwith throughly enjoyable Would definitely stay again :)

Beautiful cottage in a peaceful location. 2 great pubs on the doorstep along with a local coffee shop and the park & ride 2 mins away. It made for a great base to explore York while offering somewhere quiet and relaxing to come back to. It was lovely in the morning to open the doors and listen and watch the birds in the garden. The cottage includes everything you would need for a home away from home. We would definitely recommend.
