Walden is located in the middle of the unique scenic landscape of the Frisian forests. Trees, hedges and wood ramparts surround the meadows. With grasslands, water, and pieces of forest in between. It looks cozy, those lawns in the trees. Smûk, we say in Frisian. 250 species of birds and many other animals live here. From the ice age, the area also got pingo's as a gift. Located in the middle of 2 National Parks; Lauwersmeer and the Alde Feannen. Ideal cycling and hiking area.

Stay in the 125-year-old Wierums Hûske just 50 meters from the sea dike. Visit the Waddenzee and go in search of the seals, come mudflat walking, go bird watching in Lauwersoog, a day of shopping in Dokkum or Leeuwarden, cross over to the Wadden Islands, take a hike or go cycling in the area. The cottage is renovated and equipped with every comfort. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs with 4 sleeping places. There is an equipped kitchen. You can park the car in the private driveway.

For day trips, you can be in Leeuwarden, Groningen or on Schiermonnikoog or Ameland within an hour. Have you ever been to the beautiful Dokkum? It is only 12 km away. Paesens Moddergat is one of the most beautiful places in the Netherlands, located 10 minutes drive from the Lauwersmeer National Park and 10 minutes from the eleven-city town of Dokkum. Activities: mudflat walking or wandering ( see Oan e'dyk) day trip to Ameland, day trip to Schiermonnikoog, fish eating in the fishing port of Lauwersoog, seal tours. Also very suitable for bird spotters (see nature photography Lauwersmeer) who live birds in and around the Lauwersmeer.

Sleeping with the sheep & a whole herd of horses.

Waking up with a view of the dining room, a herd of horses living in freedom, 2 pigs making their beds in front of the window every evening, and sometimes a sheep walking by... Closer to the pure things in life. Therefore, there is no Wi-Fi and no TV. There is, however, a large table for playing games together and a lovely sofa for drinking a glass of wine together. Make beautiful memories together! And extra fun: the first lambs are born at the beginning of October!
