An artists retreat in an 18th century windmill base on the edge of Sudbury, Suffolk, a small bustling market town in the heart of Gainsborough country. If seeking a cosy, spacious, 'off grid' bolt hole a stone's throw from London we are for you.
“Unique and characterful stay in a fab location, Theo is a great host, we loved the welcoming loaf of bread and tasty homemade granola and the beautiful walks around the mill. Wish we could have stayed longer! Our teenagers and our dog were very happy too :-)”
Watt Cottage is in a remote village with lovely walks. The local well stocked shop is offering delivery if needed. You'll love Watt Cottage, it's full of charm and character. The cottage is 16th century grade ll listed, retaining many of its original features including an original wood burning stove. It makes the most delicious pizzas and we provide all the dough ingredients for you to give it a go..
“Stunning cottage with amazing period features in a lovely peaceful location. The pizza oven is such a fun touch. Would recommend the King's Arms in the village too - such a friendly pub. And the local town of Lavenham is beautiful. (Both in Sammy's recommendations.) It was a perfect spot for a weekend away. Thanks so much!”

It is a truly unique retreat offering home from home accommodation for up to 5 adults. We also have a small fold up bed for younger guest and a travel cot. Extra amenities include board games, books, table tennis and a dressing up box. This living space provides the perfect staycation for families or equally it is ideal for those travelling for work.
“What a great place to enjoy a few days in a picturesque part of Suffolk. The house of Wilde is a stylish, pristinely clean and cosy wooden garage/barn conversion. It’s great for couples or groups of friends and you’ll enjoy the chilled vibe. The two double beds in each of the bedrooms are very comfortable and the bedding is to a quality hotel standard. The house of Wilde accesses onto a gorgeous garden belonging to the main house which is where Kerry lives. The garden is so large with multiple seating areas and Kerry is very happy to have her guests enjoy the garden whilst staying in the conversion. From the garden you can access national trust woodland and fields, which make for great walks and there are two lovely pubs within a short walking distance. We loved our weekend away and Kerry is a great host.”
