Kyomachiya Private Rental "Takasegawa Shichijo" is an accommodation facility that has been fully renovated from a 115-year-old kyomachiya. The kyomachiya, which forms the beautiful scenery of Kyoto, has been redesigned as a building with high airtightness and thermal insulation performance, while retaining the original structure, so that you can enjoy a comfortable stay during Kyoto's unique hot and humid summers and harshly cold winters. From the Japanese-style room on the first floor, you can see the tsubo garden, which is designed to resemble a "roji" (*the garden that leads to the tea room). There is also a sofa in the hallway where you can relax and enjoy the view of the tsubo garden. In the evening, you can spend a relaxing time watching the illuminated tsubo garden. There are two bedrooms on the second floor: a Japanese-style room with two single beds and a Western-style room with two single beds. If there are 5 or more guests, we will set up a futon in the Japanese-style room on the ground floor for you to use as a bedroom. The kitchen is equipped with cooking utensils and tableware so you can prepare simple meals.

The atrium of the house is a traditional Japanese courtyard, with a unique fish pond with a group of koi carp symbolizing good luck, a transparent courtyard and a picture of a step-by-step view will add a touch of harmony and tranquility to your journey. The entire house has three separate bedrooms, two fully functional private bathrooms (Toilets), a bathroom (Bathroom) with a premium cypress bathtub, and an open kitchen where you can cook. The location is another highlight here. Located in the Higashiyama area of Kyoto, it is only a 7-minute walk to the Keihan Line "Shimizu Gojo", only one stop to Kyoto's most prosperous shopping center "Shijo Kawaramachi", and only a 5-minute walk to the Kamogawa River. Located in the historic area of Kyoto (Kiyomizu Temple, Kyoto National Museum, Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, Sanjusangendo, etc.), it is easy to get around.

Please use the carefully restored Kyomachiya as your base for sightseeing in northern Kyoto, where time flows slowly, with a focus on natural materials and traditional craftsmanship by Miyadai Koge and Saigo craftsmen.

I am an Artist / Photographer born in Kyoto I started hosting because I love meeting people from all over the world and making new friends. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. Private cypress bath and renovated rooms and made another entrance for the Guests. So now it is 2 separate house Please check the house rules before you book.
