A 115-year-old Kyoto townhouse near Nijo Castle, a historic heritage site representing Kyoto, has been reborn as an accommodation facility with a delicate renovation by an architect. While the exterior retains the atmosphere of a historic Kyoto townhouse, the interior is a space that harmonizes Japanese tradition and modernity. When you enter the entrance, you can enjoy the seasonal nature of Kyoto's unique tsubo garden, which is like a cut-out of the scenery in the mountains. The facility is a Kyoto townhouse with elegant taste, decorated with paintings by Japanese painters and decorations by craftsmen. It can accommodate up to 9 people in a spacious 100 ㎡ space. It is spacious enough to relax with family or friends, and is the perfect place to "travel like you live in the ancient city of Kyoto". There is also a kids' space for children to enjoy, so families with children can also have a comfortable stay. Nijo Castle is within walking distance, but access to major tourist attractions such as Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Kinkaku-ji Temple, Arashiyama, Gion, and Kyoto Imperial Palace is also good from the bus stop right next to the facility. Located in the heart of Kyoto, but in a calm and quiet area, you can feel the traditional Kyoto atmosphere with the unique Kyoto townhouses and historical buildings around you. Kyomachiya Private Rental "Takasegawa Shichijo" is an accommodation facility that has been fully renovated from a 115-year-old kyomachiya. The kyomachiya, which forms the beautiful scenery of Kyoto, has been redesigned as a building with high airtightness and thermal insulation performance, while retaining the original structure, so that you can enjoy a comfortable stay during Kyoto's unique hot and humid summers and harshly cold winters. From the Japanese-style room on the first floor, you can see the tsubo garden, which is designed to resemble a "roji" (*the garden that leads to the tea room). There is also a sofa in the hallway where you can relax and enjoy the view of the tsubo garden. In the evening, you can spend a relaxing time watching the illuminated tsubo garden. There are two bedrooms on the second floor: a Japanese-style room with two single beds and a Western-style room with two single beds. If there are 5 or more guests, we will set up a futon in the Japanese-style room on the ground floor for you to use as a bedroom. The kitchen is equipped with cooking utensils and tableware so you can prepare simple meals.

The atrium of the house is a traditional Japanese courtyard, with a unique fish pond with a group of koi carp symbolizing good luck, a transparent courtyard and a picture of a step-by-step view will add a touch of harmony and tranquility to your journey. The entire house has three separate bedrooms, two fully functional private bathrooms (Toilets), a bathroom (Bathroom) with a premium cypress bathtub, and an open kitchen where you can cook. The location is another highlight here. Located in the Higashiyama area of Kyoto, it is only a 7-minute walk to the Keihan Line "Shimizu Gojo", only one stop to Kyoto's most prosperous shopping center "Shijo Kawaramachi", and only a 5-minute walk to the Kamogawa River. Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. The result is Japanese craftsmanship at its best and we are very proud to be able to share the result with the rest of the world. Check our other house as an alternate option @ Reikaku Kiyomizu-Gojo
