Turn left downstairs and walk for 5 seconds to find a little-known hidden gem recommended by the Michelin Guide, a Kyoto old machiya restaurant. Step out of the accommodation and you can taste the flavours of the ancient capital of Kyoto in a space full of history. The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable, making it a rare local experience. In addition, if you turn right outside the building, in less than a minute, you will find a street of gourmet restaurants in the old townhouses [Kagariya Koji Kaikan], where you can also taste famous Kansai specialties. There is a 7-Eleven downstairs with a wide selection of rice balls, bread, coffee, fruit and various meals. About a 3-minute walk away, there is also [Gekiyasu Supermarket], the most worthwhile and cost-effective supermarket in all of Kyoto, with a wide range of fresh produce, seafood, fruit, bread and everyday items, and prices are generally more affordable than nearby supermarkets! The room features a comfortable double bed, a private balcony and a large kitchen that retains the Showa style, allowing you to experience the irreplaceable real life of Kyoto. It is suitable for 2-3 people to stay comfortably. In March 2026, the bathroom and bathtub were completely renovated. Aluminium doors and windows, a washing machine and basic cooking equipment combine retro features with modern comfort. The building has a lift, making it easier to carry large luggage, a pram or travel with the elderly. Family and friends travelling together can book multiple rooms separately; rooms with the same first English letter in their names are on the same floor. We will assist with arrangements based on room availability. Our staff can communicate in Chinese, English and Japanese to make your trip to Kyoto more comfortable and hassle-free. It is a 3-minute walk to Gion Shirakawa, and the road along the river is a popular spot with cherry blossoms in spring and willows in summer, attracting many people.
