Farthings - genuine Austen charm cottage & garden
Renovated in June 2019, the house is a real haven, ideally located in the heart of Chawton village and surrounding Hampshire. Farthings was built circa 1700 for the workers of the Squires big house, which is now the Jane Austen Library in the centre of Chawton. The writer's home, now a museum, is directly opposite the house and it's said that Austen family members stayed in Farthings when they ran out of room. They certainly smoked hams for Squire Knight's guests in the inglenook fireplace.

On the edge of the South Downs National Park Alton is surrounded by beautiful countryside ideal for cycling and walking. The house has it's own private entrance, driveway parking and fast wifi, kitchen, restful living room, bright airy bedrooms and a stylish shower room.

Warren Farm is 2 miles from Alton, which is famous for the Watercress Line steam railway and the home of Jane Austen. We are also on the edge of the South Downs National Park and within easy reach of Winchester and the Historic Dockyards and ferry terminals in Portsmouth. The Stables has it's own entrance from the beautiful garden room which adjoins our barn. There are country views and footpaths if you are feeling energetic! We look forward to welcoming you.

Brand new annexe built in 2024 next to our picturesque 16th century thatched cottage. The perfect blend of quintessential English charm you would expect in Jane Austen's village, combined with all the mod cons of modern living. Fast wifi, smart TVs, power shower, central heating, full kitchen with induction hob, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle - and outside seating. As well as the double bed with Emma mattress in the bedroom, the sofa doubles up as a sofa bed.
