Historic Berkeley Victorian near Famous 4th Street Shops

Built in 1891, this gorgeous home uses natural light to accentuate the chic decor. Notice the quaint bay windows and sea-themed artwork and relax in the tranquil garden. Walk just two blocks to 4th Street for some of Berkeley's best shopping, restaurants, and cafes. The flat is a large 1000 square foot 2-bedroom unit, the lower level of our family's Victorian duplex. It is surrounded by gardens and has its own private garden. It is a family and kid friendly, safe and peaceful environment. Feel free to sit in the garden under the fig and pomegranate trees and enjoy a meal or coffee!! There is a full-sized washer and dryer, free wifi, a television, a kitchen with a refrigerator, 4-burner stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker and cooking and eating ware and utensils. The bathroom shower has shampoo, conditioner and body soap for guests to enjoy. No need to bring towels, linens, a hair dryer, iron or ironing board. Those are all included. Each bedroom has a queen sized bed and the living room has two day beds, each with twin-sized mattresses. It is a historic site. The Victorian house is one of the original homes of Berkeley. Construction began on the house in 1891. We live upstairs with our three children, whose stomping and noise may be heard from time to time between 8am and 7pm (although they are in school/camp every day except the weekends). The house across the street is the oldest home in Berkeley and has a plaque on it explaining its history. Guests will have access to the lower flat, the garden out the left hand side of the back garden door, the laundry room out the right hand side of the back garden door, and easy and free street parking. For guests with small children, we can provide you with a high chair, booster seat, portable crib, and other odds and ends. If we are in town, which we most always are, we like to make ourselves available to the guests as little or as much as they like. Guests can always ask us for recommendations of sites to visit and places to go. In addition to the close access to UC Berkeley, San Francisco, and the Fourth Street shopping area, you're just a short walk away from Berkeley's Marina, which overlooks the entire bay. It is a beautiful place to walk or bike. You can even rent kayaks, boards and boats and go standup paddle boarding, windsurfing, kayaking or sailing along the bay. This is one of the best neighborhoods in the city of Berkeley regarding accessibility to public transportation. The house is two blocks from multiple AC transit bus lines, nine blocks from the North Berkeley BART station, and four blocks from the Berkeley Amtrak train station. It is also located just blocks from the freeway leading into San Francisco and the South Bay in one direction and Sacramento and Marin in the other. Free public parking is also readily available, which is unheard of in most of Berkeley. The guests have access to the downstairs unit, the garden on the left as you exit through the glass backdoor and the washer/dryer room on the right as you exit through the glass backdoor. We like to make ourselves as available to guests as they like. This way we show up for guests based on the level of privacy and engagement they desire. We are more than happy to provide details of places to see and things to do. If guests have requests, we are more than happy to respond. The home was one of the first builds in the historic Ocean View neighborhood close to convenient transport links such as BART, Transbay, and Amtrak. Enjoy waterfront views and activities at the beautiful marina and explore downtown nearby. Please note there is occasional noise from passing trains and kids upstairs. This is one of the best neighborhoods in the city of Berkeley regarding accessibility to public transportation. The cottage is two blocks from multiple AC transit bus lines, nine blocks from the North Berkeley BART station, and four blocks from the Berkeley Amtrak train station. It is also located just blocks from the freeway leading into San Francisco and the South Bay in one direction and Sacramento and Marin in the other. Free public parking is also readily available, which is unheard of in most of Berkeley. This is a loving family property. We have three kids and therefore plenty of kid items to share upon request. The kids occasionally make noise, and stomp through the house, however they are usually asleep by 7:30pm. Our surrounding neighbors are extremely friendly. And we all get along well. The neighborhood is wonderful. We are two blocks from some of Berkeley's best shops, restaurants, and cafes. The home was one of the first in the historic Ocean View neighborhood and is close to convenient transport links such as BART, the Transbay bus, and Amtrak. Please note there is occasional noise from passing trains and kids upstairs.
