Monthly Rentals in Velarde

We stayed at La Villita for 5 months. During that time, my wife and I had our first baby. This was such a perfect space for starting our family. The house was exactly as described in the listing. We were very comfortable. The ranch is incredibly beautiful and serene. (Fall was our favorite. The yellow cottonwoods are quite special). Location wise, it is an easy 45 minute drive from Santa Fe, Los Alamos, and Taos. There are many beautiful hiking trails throughout the area. If you want organic food or more niche health food items, you have to go into one of the towns mentioned above. However, the nearby town of Española had pretty much all general staples that we would need. What we did not expect was the community we found at La Villita. Debora and Ron, and all the long-term guests we got to know, are all such lovely people who really shaped our experience. La Villita, it's colorful residents, and Northern New Mexico hold a special place in our hearts. We will certainly be back.

This cozy casita was like a mountain retreat while travelling from Taos to Santa Fe. The place was just as described -Jen and Heathar are very thoughtful providing just enough for a simple quiet stay. I was able to take a hike right behind the casita and order keifer hand-delivered from their available farm goods. Knowing that I'd be unplugging mostly while there, I was still able to connect my laptop to a trusty Ethernet cable to get work done. I do evening sketches and reading, so by nightfall the intentionally dimmer light in the casita was limiting, but that just encouraged me to get to bed at a decent hour. (Comfy bed perch, by the way!) I highly recommend staying here for a peaceful experience.

Arriving at Mary's Casita there is an immediate sense of coming home. Everything about it feels welcoming and serene: from the architecture and appointment of the casita, to the welcoming baked goods, to the beautiful view of the mountains, and the cheerful chatter and activity of the birds in the yard. Mary's casita is a place to take a deep breath, pause and soak everything in. You will want to keep coming back to this place. This is the spirit of Northern New Mexico at it's best. And it is the perfect location for exploring the many beautiful and interesting places that this Northern part of the state has to offer. Thank you Mary for sharing a part of your world with us.
