Old Coal House: a cosy village hideaway by the sea

Spacious garden building. Not too far from the harbour. Parking was fine. Teaspoon and a bit of crockery would be a good addition bit generally we were happy with our stay

Stylish Coastal Cottage Walk to Beach & SW Path

JennyRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Eleanor’s cottage was perfect for our family of four. It is next to the creek and a very short walk to the pub and ferry. The cottage was great, with comfortable beds and everything we needed. We picked up some supplies on our way to the cottage at the supermarket in Helston, but the local shop in Helford was handy too. Parking was on the creek or up in a nearby car park (a 2 minute walk up the hill). We bought a ticket for the week and left the car there except on the days we were venturing further afield. We had such a great holiday and would definitely recommend this beautiful part of Cornwall and Eleanor’s lovely cottage!

Porthallow Cove. Dogs go free. Secure garden

JoshRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Louise was a fantastic host. Loved the little gestures of the black board welcome message and the goodies left for the dogs, as they meant a lot. Her home was clean, and bigger than expected. When she says the garden is dog proof, she means it. We mainly only used the front garden, and the dogs loved it, large and a sun trap, where they could run around freely and had no worry of them getting out at all. I would definitely recommend this place, and would love to stay again. the location is definitely more of a "off-the-path" location, but worth it, if you don't want to be in a Cornwall tourist spot. That said, there is more than enough choice of local food locations at the most of a 5/10 minute drive, and two amazing costal walk to explore leading out on both sides of Porthallow Cove. I cannot fault this stay as it provided everything we needed for the week that we stayed!

Trelowen, self-contained apartment - Helford River

MariaRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We had a lovely stay at Trewince House, would highly recommend it. The apartment was clean, comfortable and tidy, with a comfy bed and a hot shower. The kitchen was well equipped, the lounge is light and airy. The apartment is part of a beautiful house, with a large attractive garden, perfectly situated to enjoy the peaceful location, and starry nights, weather permitting. A very narrow lane approaches the house but it’s not too long. Port Navas is a little jewel just waiting to be discovered. Susan gave us good local knowledge for walks, places to eat etc, and was always quick to respond to any queries. We can highly recommend the delightful little PN Yacht Club, where dress is casual, the food and ambience really good. Special mention to Melissa who makes everyone feel welcome. Would definitely book in advance. Had delicious fish and chips at the Ferry Boat Inn. Would also recommend a cruise with Hetty, from Helford River Cruises, who was friendly and knowledgeable.

Stevel an Lowarth - The Garden Room

RobbieRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Esther is an incredibly kind and responsive host who helped us even before we arrived at the accommodation. She gave us all the recommendations for local places to eat and how to reach the house by bus and car, as well as left us fresh produce in fridge upon arrival! The room is gorgeous and feels like it’s a house when you’re staying as a party of two! There’s a lovely wet room which is amazing if you’ve just been in the sea. The room itself looks onto a beautifully kept garden, filled with birds and bees. The location is brilliant for if you want to walk down to one of the coves and coastal paths (church cove is about a 10 minute walk and lizard point about 20-30 minute walk). Lizard itself is a beautiful and unique place, there’s a cute farm shop where you can buy fresh produce everyday and the butchers shop has all the food you’d need to keep yourself fulfilled! Esther and her husband are incredibly kind and generous hosts and you’ll have the most amazing time if you choose to stay
