Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Smith Mountain Lake

Rachel and Chad were very responsive from the moment I reserved their beautiful home on the lake, until the day we departed. The house is beautiful and has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing vacation.

We had a great stay in Smith Mountain Lake at Rachel’s home. It was a great home for our family that came to celebrate our son graduate from Liberty University. The drive was about 50-60 minutes to Lynchburg, but it was nice to be out at the lake and out of the traffic of Lynchburg. The home was fully stocked with everything we needed and more (crockpot, baking pans/dishes, pots/pans, full butlers pantry/laundry room), the bathrooms were all updated, all linens were provided, paddleboards/kayaks were fun to use, we enjoyed the pool table in the basement, the dining table sat 8 which was great for all of our meals and gathering with family. The living area on the main floor is sizable and open providing a good place to gather, the basement allows another option for people to spead out and have space and many decks outside to enjoy the lake. We would stay here again.

Amazing lake home in a secluded neighborhood. This property is perfect for families! The basement provided numerous options with a pool table, table tennis and large variety of arcade games. The boat dock had a number of kayaks, paddles boards and was perfect for fishing. A short drive into town for groceries and supplies, as well as local restaurants to enjoy.

One of the best if not the best AirB&b I’ve experienced in the states. Amazing new construction with ample space and great natural light. Every room in the house was spectacular with great amenities. My family felt right at home from day one. Location was as perfect for what we were looking for and surroundings were beautiful and private. Brandon is the cherry on top with great communication and clear instructions. Brandon fixed a scheduling issue with in the day of booking. Brandon was honest, understanding, and respectful during the resolution. I can’t recommend this home enough for your next SML trip.

We absolutely loved this old but completely updated cabin! The history was so interesting!! Home was very comfortable and cozy. We enjoyed the hot tub and especially the upstairs game room!! Highly recommend and would definitely stay there again!!!

this is a must stay if yoy want to relax from the outside world private dock was ver convienent and his house was very cozy this will be a destination i will come to again for sure !

What an extraordinary property. I read prior reviews and a lot of people were bent out of shape because the property is not updated. I think it is important to know the story behind any property. Simply put, this property is for family vacations, a place where they can share time and experiences with each other - including their grandkids. There was not a tv in every room of the house. There was only one tv in the downstairs rec room. I do regret that my time there was very short as I wanted to read the reading materials, play their games, especially the fooz ball table downstairs. In spite of the bed in the front room that overlooks the lake was highly uncomfortable, to the point my husband slept downstairs in a daybed, the view that greeted me in the morning was spectacular. Common sense advice: bring your own comfy pillows for the bed, avoid outdoors at dusk due to the mosquitos, and book this rental to have that quintessential time engaging with your family, old-school style!

Our stay was amazing , great views, really quiet and peaceful, lake side access and views, we loved the kayaks available, the place was clean and cozy. The mosquitoe screen in the porch is something you’ll appreciate when having dinner or lunch outside ! Great stay over all

I really enjoyed my stay . It’s the perfect location to enjoy the downtown area within walking distance. A classic breakfast sandwich just a few feet away and coffee across the street. It was super clean and comfortable:)

Barry’s place was very comfy and cozy. It was stocked with snacks and water that made us feel at home. They also provided Keurig coffee pods and creamer so you don’t have to run to the store and buy it which is nice. There was also a basket of toiletries with everything you could think of so if you forgot something, it was likely in there. It’s only about 17 minutes to Liberty University. I would highly recommend staying here.

Staying with Mr Jane was a pleasure. The location was perfect, the apartment was cozy and spotless. The place was well-equipped and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. This is a peaceful downstairs apartment with private entry and beautiful backyard with swimming pool. Mrs Jane was always available to answer our questions. unforgettable experience! The appartment is right in the center of Roanoke with everything right on your door step. It's spacious, comfortable and well presented and equipped. I cooked in a lot, made easy by a well equipped kitchen. There's a lovely recliner to relax in, not to mention the bed was super comfortable. All in all it was a definitely a 5 star rental.

Leslie’s condo is wonderfully presented and cozy. Very clean and spacious bathroom for a studio unit. Good lighting, well equipped kitchen and fresh scent. I was there for a week long business trip. I can recommend with no hesitation.

Perfect for dog lovers and lake lovers! I’ve rented various condos at Smith Mountain Lake and several different ones at Stripers Landing, but Shannon’s place is now my new favorite. With a great view, plenty of space and the option to bring the pup - it’s such a treat. Highly recommend.

I have to be completely honest this is probably one of the nicest and most peaceful locations. I have stayed at in my many years of traveling in Airbnb. I definitely plan to come back just to enjoy the lake and amenities. Unfortunately, I was there more for business to attend my Liberty University Commencement and being at Lynchburg locations check up their price for graduation, I was forced to stay 50 minutes away. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I never had Huddleston, VA on my radar, and it’s an extremely beautiful drive and hidden gem! I’m looking forward to spending a few days in the future and Laura and Stephen were actually some of the nicest and kindest hosts I have ever met on AirBnB. They were both very responsive. I didn’t have to wait very long to get in touch with them and gave me some great information locally as well as assistance when I needed it. HIGHLY recommend. It’s cosy, like a large hotel room sized condo that has everything you need to unwind.

We highly recommend Armand and Amanda! This condo and the amenities are wonderful. We have nothing but great things to say-the condo was very clean, quiet, and safe.

This was our first time staying at Mick’s and our second at Bernard’s Landing. We LOVE the area and LOVED the place. The porch swing was my absolute favorite- the perfect place to watch the sunrise. Mick was very proactive with our needs, everything was laid out in the instructions, no questions needed. The decor was just like the photos and was perfect for our needs. It was clean and cozy. We are already looking forward to planning next year’s anniversary.

This was a great place to stay for our first time visiting SML! Beautiful views and very comfortable. Only 10 min drive to the grocery store, which is good for this area.

Great stay. Cute condo right above restaurant and store. Brought my SUP and used it a lot. Lots to do at Mariner’s landing. Great food and service at The Landing, Bruno’s and Bottles and Bites. State Park 7 minutes away is excellent for hiking. Lots of friendly neighbors! We’re ready to go back!!

This place was a perfect fit for our family. We enjoyed the clean space and most importantly the view of the lake and pool! We will definitely be back.
