My house is very conveniently located: Keihan railway (Demachiyanagi station) is 1 minute away walking. Shimogamo Jinja (shrine) is 5 minutes walking. Ginkaku-ji (temple) is 10minutes walking. There is the Heian shrine and Kyoto imperial palace near by too.( in about 15min walking). There are also local food restaurants and nice cafes around.

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

We have renovated the bathroom and kitchen areas to make your stay more comfortable while still retaining the charm of the townhouse, such as the low ceilings and narrow, steep stairs. Why not try experiencing a bit of Kyoto life? Please note that we will charge a local accommodation tax (200 yen per person per night) in addition to the accommodation fee.
