  • Great place to stay at! Enjoyed the beautiful outdoors hiking and was extremely thankful for the jacuzzi! Beautiful cabin that we hope to rent again. Highly recommend.

  • House appears to be very new and everything is in excellent shape. It was very clean. Appreciated the grill and accessories even though the rain ruined our plans to use it. Hot tub is great and there's evidence to prove it is taken care of regularly by a professional. We thought it would be more private - pictures don't show there's a house on each side and one in back (but neighbors keep to themselves). Note, the walk to the river is more of a hike. Communication from owner was very helpful. We had a great stay, thank you.

    Jessica2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect getaway from the city - highly recommend! The cabin itself was absolutely beautiful and had all the amenities you would need and more. Everything from the kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms were well stocked and felt very homey. Culin was a great host and provided us with all the information needed for check-in, check-out, and local hot spots!

    Ashley2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I loved our 2 night stay at Blue Moon Cabin! It was VERY clean and surpassed all of our expectations. Culin was an amazing host, he gave us so many great suggestions for the local attractions as well as very fast response times. It was the perfect private getaway while staying in Luray! Our only disappointment was that many of the local breweries and wineries are only open on weekends during this time of year, so we were unable to visit them during our stay. Fortunately, we picked up some wine from the local Walmart and had a great time enjoying the large front porch and rocker chairs at the cabin. (:

    Emily2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean place and had everything you needed for a cozy cabin getaway! Culin was great with recommendations and always prompt with check-in and responses. My mom, sister and I really enjoyed our time there. We went to Hawksbill Brewery one day and took a walk down to the river.

    Chase2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Culin was quick to respond and offered lots of local tips. The cabin was clean and well decorated. The hot tub and fire pit were really nice and overall, it was a fantastic trip.

    Lydia2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Culin’s cabin is amazing, it looks just like a magazine model, everything is well taken care of and the style is outstanding. It made me want to move to a cabin just as adorable as that, I loved the walls, the kitchen and all the details, I am for sure gonna try and go back with more time. My husband and I had a blast on his birthday getaway, especially enjoying the hot tub. Thank you Culin for everything.

    Cla2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • GREAT STAY. We loved staying at Culins cabin. It was very clean and the hot tub was amazing! There are great recommendations in the cabin for close hiking trails, food, and activities. We did the after hours zoo tour with Mark, the zoo owner, where we got to feed and pet the animals which was awesome! I would recommend this cabin to anyone heading up to the luray area.

Cozy pet-friendly cabin in walking distance of the Shenandoah River. • Hot tub • High speed internet •Fully equipped & stocked kitchen • Onsite washer & dryer • Grill • Gas fireplace • Private Garden Pub/Bar
You know those big mountain resort neighborhoods? This isn't one. This is a secret spot close to all the big attractions, but tucked away from "the hubbub." Guests love being able to walk to the Shenandoah River, a private lake, hiking trails, and Shenandoah River Outfitters. They also love finding a pet-friendly cabin that is modern rustic... not just rustic. Come get away from it all at our cabin. Enjoy the simple life, sleep in, and breath the fresh mountain air. Revel in the beauty and bounty Shenandoah has to offer guests, and feel free to revel in the garden pub... which is 120 square feet of country fun tucked into the woods. We're happy to provide you with a list of our favorite restaurants, wineries, activities, hiking trails, excursions, and more. We like to consider ourselves the unofficial ambassadors of Luray!
Off the beaten path, but by no means 4-wheel drive necessary. The cabin is part of a quaint little neighborhood walking distance to the Shenandoah River, and Shenandoah River Outfitters.
  • Beautiful little house we really enjoyed it hope to be back sometime

    Josh2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to visit! The cabin is off the beaten path, and while it is a bumpy road to get to the location; it's worth it. If you want to have a romantic weekend -- or have a good time with some friends, a great place to visit.

    Anthony2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Culin is reply’s to messages every time and the place is beautiful. Would recommend.

    Zekang2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful space with great ammenities! Very comfortable and relaxing place. Culin was a great host. He gave lots of helpful suggestions about local restaraunts/activities and responded to messages very quickly. I would definitely recommend this place.

    Emma2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a secluded getaway, this is the perfect place. The pictures are an exact representation of what to expect when you get there. The hot tub was already warmed and waiting for us, which was great after the long drive down. One thing to note though, is that you have to take all trash to a public trash disposal. The closest one is about a 30 minute drive, so be mindful of what you'll be throwing away, and the smells that may go with them.

    Devin2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is fantastic! Nestled in the middle of mountain trails and a beautiful river, we were never far from anything we wanted to do. The cabin itself was immaculately clean and the yard was very well kept. Needless to say, but the hot tub was spectacular! 10/10, will try and reserve again!

    Aaron2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Was such a nice place to stay and get away. Hot tub felt amazing. 100% recommend

Welcome to The Perch! Our beautiful A-frame cabin opens up to the Shenandoah River. Cabin is perfectly suited for couples or small families looking for the perfect mountain getaway with a view that can't be beat. Take in the sights from the rooftop deck, screened porch, or by the fire pit in this year-round riverfront retreat. Prime location for canoeing, fishing, hiking & biking - the perfect escape to relax in the woods, on the water and to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Shenandoah.
Our cabin is located on a beautiful bend on the Shenandoah river, complete with a picturesque view of the mountains in the background. There is much to explore outdoors, but the indoor space will keep you cozy when you want to kick your feet up. The open concept floor plan allows for plenty of mingling and family time, but when it's time to turn down for the night, everyone will enjoy their own private areas. The loft hideaway area is accessible by a ladder, which is perfect for small children to sneak away for their own movie time, but only under the supervision of an adult.
Our cabin strikes the ideal balance between seclusion and access to necessary amenities. You'll be just a 10-15 minute drive to just about anything you could desire: restaurants, outdoor activities, Skyline Drive, etc. Our cabin just few miles away from the Shenandoah Outfitters Canoe Company if a day trip is more your style (tubing, kayaking, etc.). There is much to explore through the Shenandoah National Park, in the heart of Luray, and nearby wineries and breweries.
  • What a beautiful location and cabin! You can’t beat the tranquility of this place, with direct water access on top of it all. The cabin is wonderful; such a cool design, with a rooftop deck, and it was sparkling clean inside. Lyndsey is a wonderful host too—super responsive and she has a great guidebook that gives useful tips on nearby hikes and restaurants. We had an excellent stay and are looking forward to returning. Thanks, Lyndsey!

    Nicole2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Situated right on the river the Perch offers a priceless setting to unwind. The roof top deck also provides a panoramic view of the area. Inside the home has a super cozy living room with a toasty fireplace to stay warm on cold nights. The fully functional kitchen makes it convenient for cooking.

    Dan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This quiet and cozy cabin was exactly what my family needed to get away from the city. The view is breathtaking especially from the loft and the rooftop deck.

    Yzalia2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Looking for a easy get away from all the chaos of the DMV? The Perch is your answer! not only is it super easy to get to, but the house itself is everything we could have asked for and more! We booked in Jan and still had an amazing experience. The house is soooo cozy during winter, her living room stove heats the house up FAST!!!! The area is quiet, with the only major sounds are coming from the river in the front yard!!! this place offers the perfect escape!!! the campfire was perfect during the cold winter nights. Lyndsey offers so many extras, every time we realized we forgot something, Lyndsey had everything we needed! Would recommend the Storybook Trail short like with spectacular views! It’s only about 30min away but with beautiful sights to look at on the way, the drive feels incredibly short!!

    Marsha2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This location is fabulous and the cabin and grounds are gorgeous. This is the perfect place to enjoy the mountains and also a quick ride over to Luray Caverns. We came in the winter, and the fireplace inside was perfect along with the campfire outside and grill! Right on the river, we had a beautiful view. 10/10 would recommend!

    Jake2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first trip together and this place made it remarkably unforgettable! Clean, beautiful with Breathtaking view! We loved our stay in this cabin! Thank you Lyndsey!

  • Great house in the mountains with tons of amenities and fantastic hot tub. Very quiet with lots of options for hiking pretty close

    Jacob2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far the best Airbnb I've stayed in. The amenities and special touches such as a personal note and welcome goodies basket were top notch. Brenda was always accessible and went out of her way to assist with any questions we had. We are looking forward to visiting her home in warmer weather. Thank you for making this such an enjoyable vacation for us!

    Laurie2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had a great stay. We will definitely try to make it back again. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

    Jonathan2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous place to stay! We stayed with our two young children and my parents and the house had something for everyone. Books, games and puzzles, toys and a room that had my three year old entranced, and the wonderful hot tub. The kitchen (indeed the whole house) is extremely well-equipped and stocked with all the essentials. The location is remote enough to feel that you’re away from it all but conveniently close to Luray and other hubs. Brenda was fantastic to communicate with and our whole experience was just a delight. Would recommend to anyone and we will definitely be coming back in the future.

    Nadine2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • I knew dream view house would be perfect for myself, my husband and young adult daughter, and it was even better than I expected or that photos can show. The front deck was a favorite place to hang out with our dogs, and the location was close to so many towns —five breweries, Luray Caverns, great hiking trails, etc. After a day of adventure coming home to this lovely place was paradise! Now, I want to come back to visit soon. We drove up from Florida, but it was less than 2 hours from my daughters DC area place, so a perfect meeting place & common ground for us. The dog beds and outside porches made the pups welcome too!

    Sue-Ellen2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda was extremely responsive and courteous! An absolute DREAM host for a fur mom!! She put out special dog beds, water, bowls, treats and toys just for them! Everything in the home is gorgeous and clean! I loved that she decorated the whole house for Christmas, as we stayed here on our travels home for the holidays! Sitting by the fire with the Christmas tree lit and wine in hand was an absolute dream! I couldn’t have asked for a better host or stay! ♥️🐶

    Kristie2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda's place was thoughtful, inviting and very dog friendly. Despite the rainy weather, we were able to enjoy our time by the fire, playing board games and cooking with the fully stocked kitchen! The dogs thoroughly enjoyed the beds and the large yard to run around in - must bring your own poop bags! We will definitely be back!

  • Loved this space! Brian was super communicative and if anything, space was cuter than the pictures. Super peaceful and idyllic.

    Kyra2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • I love being deep in the wood. Off the beaten path and Cabin in the Cloud does not disappoint.

    Ernie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was perfect. Very private with great views, especially at sunset. We cooked every meal and never lacked for anything in the kitchen. Brian was especially helpful in making sure I had flowers waiting as a surprise for my lady. Honestly a perfect romantic getaway for a couple that doesn’t mind staying in a rustic little cabin.

    Zachary2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Clouds Cabin, and Brian was a thoughtful host who made sure to answer all of our questions. The cabin is very comfortable, the views are amazing, and the hot tub perfect after a long day. We made fires in the fireplace which made the cabin extra toasty at night. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet getaway.

    Julie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Clouds cabin lives up to its name! The road is an adventure but the reward is the most relaxing cabin in the sky to reset the mindset. Brian was very helpful and extremely quick to respond to any issues. Take the trip to stay here. It’s worth it!

    John2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome views and the hike to the waterfall was really nice! We would stay here again.

    Charis2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely, picturesque little house. It was very clean. It was everything we were looking for: solitude, escape, and relaxation with a great view. Loved hiking to the waterfall. The hot tub was awesome. Use of the Jeep was necessary.

  • The view from this cabin is incredible - definitely worth the trip. We had a wonderful time sitting in the hot tub looking out over the mountains and having a fire in the evenings.

    Elizabeth2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Place was nice and cozy. The view was amazing.

    Jarrett2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had a wonderful and relaxing week at Ashley's cabin. The views were beautiful. The only thing we had trouble with was the long, bumpy road up to the cabin. 4WD is a must. Overall, we had a lovely experience!

    Jimmy2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was amazing!! The pictures don’t do the view justice. Everything was clean and neat upon arrival, and communication was excellent throughout. Definitely would recommend not driving a sedan up the mountain, but we had a small SUV and it worked perfectly fine. We will definitely be staying here again!!

    Kelsey2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing stay. 5 stars! The pictures don’t do the view justice. The kitchen had everything you needed, plenty of space to move around and stretch in the mornings, board games came in clutch, and the grill was also super spot on. My favorite part was probably the hot tub. Definitely coming back again! Grocery stores are about a 30 minute drive which isn’t bad since it’s pretty out there but if you want to avoid driving just plan your meals!

    Mark2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Had a terrific birthday weekend. The view is great, the cabin was clean, and the hot tub was our favorite part. It was a quick drive down the mountain to explore Luray Caverns. We also enjoyed the many wild birds that would visit the property

    Alex2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and everything was as expected. Great communication with Ashley. We had a wonderful time and plan on a return trip in the future.

    Joe2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views, wholesome and cozy space, very responsive host and decent location. As the reviews below state, the drive up the mountain to the property was definitely more suitable for a SUV or truck. Although I did see a neighbor/other guest driving up in a Mini Cooper, so it can be done in a smaller vehicle. My friends and I stayed here for an extended weekend and had an amazing time. We had no complaints and can’t wait to come again for a longer period of time.

  • Genuinely the best 2 day vacation I've ever had. The private driveway is very rocky and a little narrow, but even my 2010 toyota prius could handle it. However, if you care about your car's paint job, you may want to use a rental car for this trip. The cabin was very clean, kitchen was much more well stocked than I'd expected and the fireplace in the living room made the whole place very warm and cozy. Overall 10/10 would reccomend and will definitely be back again to enjoy it in the summertime

    Scarlett2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • What an awesome weekend we had at Olivia’s place! The view is breathtaking! We enjoyed cooking meals in the fully equipped kitchen and the grill outside, playing board games that are in the house, watching movies in front of the fire place and drinking coffee and wine on the deck, taking in the beauty of the surrounding nature, we had lots of birds, small and large, “join us” on the deck! This place is very secluded, and did I mention the view? We decided to spend our entire time at the house, taking in the view and enjoying the quiet place together.

    Seger2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this location with our 2 pups for a nice Valentine's weekend if relaxation. We arrived very late at night but Olivia's directions and self check-in information made it a breeze to arrive and get in. The views are spectacular. There is a peacful feeling being up so high in the mountains. The cabin was very cozy and had everything you would need for a stay including lots of games, dvds and a fully stocked kitchen. One thing that the listing doesnt empathize on is how Dog Friendly it is! There was a giant dog bed, a basket of toys and extra dog bowls. It was a really nice added bonus. Our dogs loved looking out the windows over the valley. The fire place was amazing and very easy to use. It helped warm up the room very quickly. We had a great time and now my husband wants to buy a property near by. Lol. Thank you Olivia!

    Jessica2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home with beautiful views. Super clean and Olivia was very responsive. If you visit here, make sure you wake up to see the stunning sunrise views

    Ibrahim2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • The views at this place were spectacular! We stayed during the winter and were even treated to about a half-inch of snow on our second day - really couldnt ask for much more!

    Chris2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place fulfills all your expectations and more. You have wonderful views of God's creation along with the amenities where you don't have to leave the cabin for the entirety of your stay! Would go back in a heartbeat!

    Emily2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This home has the most beautiful mountain views we have ever seen! It was breathtaking! Sitting in front of the fire was one of our favorite spots. The bed was extremely comfortable as well. It is the perfect romantic getaway! It's very private and quiet but also has great wifi. Olivia thought of every little amenity. It was extremely cold in January, but the heaters kept the place toasty warm. She had plenty of fire wood and starter logs there for us and lots of kitchen appliances. We cooked almost every night. It was perfect! I highly recommend Olivia's place!

    Tiffany2020-01-05T00:00:00Z

  • Lisa and Jim were kind, gracious hosts and the loft is charming and pristinely clean. A perfect stay for a peaceful weekend getaway!

    Emily Claire2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Lisa's lovely loft is located in a quaint beautiful valley on their ranch. It is the perfect size for a couple getaway and has all the amenities you will need to enjoy your stay whether short or long. It is well-kept and well-stocked, and there is a grocery store within 15 minutes for anything else you may need. Jim and Lisa were a pleasure to meet as they greeted us early into our stay, and they provided a great package to introduce us to the area, attractions and restaurants. We visited the Luray, Shenandoah and Skyline caverns, as well as Shenandoah National Park during our stay; and I would recommend them to anyone interested in exploring and adventures. Last, but not least we got to meet the animals on the ranch and they were as excited to meet us as we were for them. Extremely friendly dogs, goats and donkey and if you are very lucky, the outdoor cats. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the Luray area.

    Tyler2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect little spot in Luray. Jim and Lisa were perfect hosts. We had a great time hanging out with the animals and taking in the views

    Isaac2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Quite possibly my most memorable Air BnB experience to date! Waking up to an incredible sunrise and the most charming farm animals make for an A+ experience. Far enough away from any kind of hustle and bustle, but only a short ride to downtown. This place is hard to beat. I can’t wait to book with Jim and Lisa in the future.

    Chad2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great peaceful space with lots to do nearby!

    Katie2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place. Looks exactly as shown. I booked this for my parents and this was the first time they stayed in an Airbnb without me. They had no problems what so ever and thoroughly enjoyed the place. Lisa was awesome with quick communication and super helpful directions and local information. Definitely recommend!!

    Amy2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a charming place! The Loft is the perfect place to relax and unwind while taking in amazing views and enjoying Shenandoah and downtown Luray. The space was very clean, stylish, and exactly as described. Lisa and Jim were so accommodating in letting us meet their adorable farm animals, which was really a special touch to our trip.

    Emily2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time! You can’t beat the location or the view, and Lisa and Jim shared the best tips with us on where to eat/what to see.

  • I could not have been happier with my experience at Sundance. The view is absolutely amazing, the cabin was very clean, and we especially enjoyed the hot tub! It was so nice to relax and take in everything Sundance has to offer. Thank you so much Derek!

    Ashlee2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay here. We discovered in the guestbook others had started a hide-a-dollar game, which was fun to figure out. Hot tub was very relaxing. Gorgeous views. The hosts left home-made cookies, and the place was stocked with wood and sand for the fire pit both next to the house and at the lake. There was also coffee, cooking pans, etc. Very warm and cozy. What a gorgeous walk to the lake, and a beautiful memory.

    Jamie2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning. We loved the views and how secluded and beautiful the area was.

    Rosie2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • A very clean house in a private location. It felt like there was nobody else around. The hot tub and firepit were both a nice touch.

    Meg2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Location is amazing, views spectacular. Easy in and easy out was not lacking for anything.

*BEAR PAD* You’ll love the scenery, ambiance and seclusion at Bear Pad. But, if you want to explore more of the area, the cabin is close to Luray Caverns, Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, Shenandoah River, zip-lining tours, wineries, distilleries, horseback riding, a variety of restaurants, shops and other attractions. Newly Remodeled Bathroom with large shower.
Open Plan living area so you can socialize with 2 private King Size Bedrooms plus a Queen bed in the open living space. Newly Remodeled Bathroom with large shower.
Nearby Attractions Hiking, Horse Riding, Swimming, Fishing, Canoeing, Kayaks, Tubes, Skiing, Mountain Biking, Golf, Vineyards, Birds, Butterflies, Wildlife, Skyline Drive, Caverns, Antiques, Historical, Indian & Civil War Sites, Flea Markets
  • Great place, awesome view, very close to everything, yet remote enough for that authentic cabin feeling. It hosts up to 6 people, although I’d recommend 4, because one bed is in the living room, there’s only one bath, and the hot tub would probably get crowded with 6. The road up to the place is unpaved and very rocky. A car with good ground clearance and preferably all-wheel drive is a must in my opinion. You can probably get there with a regular sedan, but if you have an SUV or truck, I’d bring that. Ashley was very friendly and helpful, with quick replies to any questions we had. I would go to this cabin again.

    Philip2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is exactly what you see, it’s truly a mountain getaway! Ashley, the host, was on top of communications with us while setting everything up, great amenities and the hot tub and the view were fantastic and everything we needed for our little weekend. Highly recommended for your next trip! Truly not joking about needing AWD/4WD vehicle to get up that like last mile of the hill but the cabin and the views are and were with the extra expense to rent an AWD vehicle.

    Richard2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean, beautiful space. Amazing view and very quiet place to relax. Highly recommend this place for getting away and just relaxing

    Morris2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • I couldn't have ask for a more picturesque place to spend the weekend! This cabin has amazing views and an updated interior. Perfect for a cozy stay! Also close to awesome hiking trails and wineries/breweries. Highly recommended!

    Lindsey2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I rang in the new year at this amazing cabin, and it was the perfect place to celebrate! As others have mentioned, the views are absolutely incredible--great to enjoy while soaking in the hot tub. The cabin has all the necessities and is very clean. Ashley was very communicative prior to and during our stay. We'll seek this space out again!

    Ben2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Comfy and welcoming cabin that felt like home with a beautiful view of the valley. Great reccommendations of local activities (caverns) and eateries. Would stay again!

    April2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my stay at this cabin. The views were breathtaking. It's a perfect spot for a romantic getaway or a small family trip to the Shenandoah Valley. It felt away from it all, yet it was a short drive to Luray for groceries, restaurants and sightseeing. The host was always quick to respond to any questions I had and was very accommodating. I definitely recommend to use 4 wheel drive, as recommended, due to the last mile or so of the road to the cabin having some steep parts. I was able to make it in my front wheel drive sedan, but it would've been tricky with inclement weather. All in all, highly recommend!

    Jennifer2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place really does have spectacular views. I stayed for 2 nights and was amazed by the views which can be seen from one of the bedrooms and living room. We watched the storm clouds move over the valley, the morning fog over the valley, and sunrise and sunset. It was the perfect stay for rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. The WiFi was very reliable. The host was very responsive and the place was clean. I can’t wait to visit again soon, it’s really a gorgeous spot on the mountain.

Secluded cabin overlooking views of the Shenandoah Valley, River and Blue Ridge Mountains, convenient to hiking, kayaking, caverns, wineries and so much more.
You’ll have full access to the entire cabin: 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, well equipped kitchen, 2 porches & plenty of yard space. This is NOT a shared property so if you book it you will not be interacting with me or anyone else.
  • This is a great spot to get away for the weekend. The grocery stores in Luray are close enough to be convenient, the caverns are accessible, and Spelunker's in Front Royale is an easy, excellent option for lunch.

    Ben2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • You CANNOT beat the view from Caroline’s place! It was stunning and totally worth the drive up. You will want to follow the recommendation for a 4wheel drive vehicle that’s for sure!

    Samantha2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful weekend spent in the mountains! Caroline was a pleasant host who was very informative. The cabin is well kept & orderly. Would love to visit again!

  • I could not have asked for a more perfect and private get away with my partner. If you are a nature lover like myself I highly suggest checking this cabin out!

    Alex2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem! As the listing says, come with 4-wheel or all wheel drive - the last bit of the drive up to the cabin is rocky, hole-y, bumpy, and steep, but you are more than rewarded for it when you get to the cabin. The views are absolutely stunning, the beds very comfortable, the hot tub a delight, and the interior wood stove an extra treat :) Bring firewood to enjoy the wood stove in winter. The kitchen was one of the best appointed I've ever had in an AirBnB - plenty of pots and pans, good knives, cutting boards, a toaster, etc. My friends and I really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!

    Michaela2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a view. This cabin was perfect for 8 people and included a hot tub overlooking the woods and a toasty fireplace. It was outfitted w good cooking utensils and supplies, a giant TV, and board games! Caroline was quick to reply and super accommodating, which was greatly appreciated! Would definitely stay here again.

  • If you're looking for a space you can show up and relax, this cabin is for you. All the little details are taken care of, with helpful notes laminated and placed everywhere to let you know how to use various appliances, where to put trash and dishes, and you don't have to go searching high and low for local information - it's all neatly provided on the book shelf right inside. The proximity to a bunch of local sites is great, and while you can see neighbor cabins, it's still quiet and the view is gorgeous. What an absolute find this place was - worth the money, and I'm VERY excited to come again in a different season.

  • Jim and Lisa were excellent hosts. This cabin is perfect for two people. It's well-designed, with a spacious kitchen and dining area, ideal for cooking meals at home. Their guest manual was also incredibly detailed, with many helpful suggestions for fun attractions and sightseeing in the area. We loved the fact that this cabin was just a 15-minute drive from a local vineyard, the Massanutten Storybrook Trail, Luray Caverns, and Stanley's small downtown area. I highly recommend booking a stay here!

Completed in 2016, this cozy retreat features one of the best views of the Shenandoah Valley. Mountain Music is tied to the natural beauty that surrounds it. You can sit quietly & hear the sounds of Mother Nature. Hawks & Bald Eagles often fly overhead...you may even spot deer or a black bear in the field below! Even though you'll feel as though you're "miles away from it all" rest assured that civilization is only a short drive away. Luray is only 8 miles south & Front Royal is 17 miles north.
  • Amazing views and plenty of stuff to do around Luray and Front Royal. Great for kids and adults alike. This was my first AirBnB experience and it was a good one. The drive up the mountain was rocky and fun for me in the Jeep.

  • Caroline’s place was great ! It was clean in all areas and fully stocked on kitchen utensils we needed. after our first night we lost heat and cable TV and the duty manager on site was quick to bring us space heaters in multiple rooms which heated the place right away. He was able to effectively trouble shoot the TV and we got more channels in minutes. Very accommodating. Very quick responses from Caroline and duty manager accessibility. The hot tub was a great touch to our trip. We didn’t get to use the grill as much as expected since we forgot foil but the oven worked just as good. Beautiful views and easy directions to find the place and very detailed. Caroline was accommodating to our check in time and check out which helped with kids. Kid friendly place for sure . Highly recommended and would definitely be back .

    Elissa2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline’s cabin was the perfect weekend retreat! My husband and I enjoyed the weekend relaxing and taking in the beautiful views! The cabin kitchen has all the cooking tools required, TV available if you want, and a very well organized cabin that would have been great for two other friends to come with us. You will definitely need AWD / 4WD to get up to the cabin!

  • Ashley’s cabin was a great location for three friends looking to escape the city for the weekend. It was just what we were looking for: secluded time away from our busy lives in Washington, D.C. The cabin looked just like the pictures, three bedrooms and two bathrooms., with the breathtaking views of the mountains from the living room and hot tub. Next time we need an escape from the city we’ll be be coming back to Ashley’s for another relaxing weekend.

    Travis2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is fantastic, the view is terrific and the hot tub had amazing views. The road was muddy and wet, we definitely needed 4 wheel drive as is described in the description. We were close to several hiking trails in the area. We would definitely stay here again, you will enjoy Ashley's cabin.

    Richard2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Ashley's place was so great! It was a little bit tight for 3 couples and 4 dogs but the weather was fabulous so we spent most of our time outside and on the incredible covered porch! Plenty of fun games and puzzles - the indoor fireplace was so cozy. We had a fabulous stay and highly recommend.

    Emily2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place! The view is beyond “breath taking”.... I still see the image in my dreams! Beautiful place, we never wanted to leave! The only downfall was not booking it long enough! Once again we sat the entire 4 days looking at the view playing the monopoly game provide! INCREDIBLE!!!!!!

    Ahyanne2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Remote, quiet cabin with amazing mountain/valley view. Stayed for 2 nights with 4 adults and a toddler. We played lots of board and card games and took full advantage of the huge hot tub. The only outing we did was to Luray Caverns which was beautiful, but I don’t recommend going with a 2 year old. I would highly recommend this cabin for a quiet, relaxing getaway!

    Lauren2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ashely was responsive, responsible, and generous during my entire stay. I’d recommend his cabin if you are looking for somewhere quiet to stay and relax while staying close to Shenandoah hiking trails and nature.

    • Magical Luray getaway for families, couples, groups of friends, or individuals on retreat • Enjoy your own spacious, comfy farmhouse with modern conveniences. • 4-person hot tub, big screen porch with great mountain views, and riverside fire ring.
Enjoy an eat-in kitchen, fireplace, 1 & 1/2 baths and generous screen porch overlooking mountains, fields and the Shenandoah river near Luray, VA.
Property is located near Luray, on the banks of the Shenandoah river between 2 mountain ranges. We love bird, wildlife and star watching. The farm is full of wildlife and has spectacular sunset, river and mountain views.
  • The hot tub was great. The house was as expected. It was a little difficult regulating the temperature in the house but other than that it was a great stay.

    Joy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A quiet tucked away home overlooking land and the river. Great fire pit, bbq area and hot tub to experience the outdoors to the fullest.

  • Awesome location- magical place to escape.

    Janet2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great property- extends to shenandoah river, very private. House is spacious and was clean. Heaters were wall mounted, not central- may be tough in the winter but it was OK in October.

    Sam2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Farm House is an amazing place to stay, very quiet in a beautiful landscape, very cosy. Outstanding is the hot tub: best place ever after a hiking tour! The house is a good base, not too far away from Luray and the Shenandoah NP for hiking tours and very close to the river for canoe tours. Nina was a very friendly host, thank you for the good tips for hiking and dining!

    Petra2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This location provided a wonderful weekend getaway filled with hiking, vineyard-hopping, campfires, and hot-tubing! Beautiful location, loved the porch!!

    Allison2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Secluded. Unbelievably quiet. Large, screened porch. Magnificent view of Massanutten Mountain. Short, pleasant walk across open fields to the Shenandoah River where you can wade all the way across (in August at least) in a gentle current. Star-gazing across the entire sky without any interference from city lights. It’s truly dark. Comfortable beds in rooms that open to the night air. Easy access to Shenandoah National Park. About as convenient to DC as you can get and be in such a lovely, pastoral setting. These are just some of the features that make this Airbnb special such that it stays with me well into the work week. It won’t let me quit thinking about it. I want to go back. I give it a 5 even though there were some maintenance details that could use some attention. Entirely fixable items, such as the front door lock not working well, some window sills that could be cleaner, some old outdated WIFI instructions that could be eliminated, etc. Minor things really. Those are all things I noticed when I arrived and then quickly forgot about because everything else was so great. If I were renovating the house myself, I would make it so that the large kitchen windows could open. They offer a terrific view of Massanutten as is but if they could be opened, the fresh mountain air would be exhilarating.

    Susan2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Nina's place was fantastic. There was a porch with a beautiful view of the mountains, short walk to the river, and even a cave we explored a few times. Nina was responsive and helpful. Highly recommend!

We invite you to stay in our completely renovated home with all modern conveniences, including central AC, heat, & high speed WiFi. Our goal is to provide a superbly clean, safe, comfortable stay with access to a multitude of outdoor activities. Short walk to the River Outfitters for tubing, canoeing and kayaking. Public boat landing a block away. Short driving distance to Luray Caverns, George Washington National Forest and Shenandoah National Park. We are family friendly and love dogs.
Hi! We travel often for work and usually stay in Airbnb rentals around the world. From these experiences, we bought and renovated this home as a full-time vacation rental with all the little details we expect (and are often missing in other places). Basically, we created our dream Airbnb vacation stay. It's modeled on several Airbnbs that we visited in Norway, Denmark and Sweden (can you tell?). We are Airbnb SuperHosts and hope you'll read through our 5-star reviews to be confident in your booking. The Shenandoah Valley is our home and we love to share the undiscovered pleasures of this area. We have mountain ranges on either side of the valley with a gorgeous river running through it. We're proud to call Luray home. Our nightly price covers up to six guests. Kids are always welcome, and we're pet friendly (with prior approval). Just let us know who you're bringing so we can accommodate (need the high chair, pack n' play or dog bowls? Let us know!). If the Mid Century Home is booked or you're booking for several groups, please check out our other new renovated rental in Luray: Modern Farmhouse near Shenandoah Nat'l Park + Lake https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4169256 House: We have lovingly renovated this unique, mid century house and turned it into a modern home with a European style. The house is located on a small hill near the Shenandoah river with gorgeous views of the National Park. You'll wake up to the sunrise, then watch the sun slowly fall on the mountains as night comes. Though we are on a small road that follows the river, you'll feel secluded because there are no visible neighbors. We've updated the home with all conveniences, including central AC, heat and high speed WiFi. This is not a rustic cabin, but some seriously awesome luxury. A great way to enjoy the outdoors. If you have any special needs, just ask. We live a quick ten minutes away. Parking: The home is on a small hill with a concrete driveway that will allow you to drive right up to the front door. Two cars can park up top. One car can park at the bottom of the driveway, if needed. Bedrooms: The house sleeps up to six people, but also perfect for a couple who want a quiet getaway. There are two private bedrooms. The downstairs master suite has a Restoration Hardware king size bed and flat screen TV. The second, upstairs bedroom has a West Elm Queen Bed, flat screen TV and private deck with mountain views. There's also two adult-sized, handmade bunk beds that are built into the downstairs nook. You can use the heavy curtain to separate the space for privacy. Great for kids, or adults who are kids at heart. We gladly provide all bed linens and pillows. Bathrooms: We have a large full bathroom with a brand new, Americast soaking tub and rainhead shower. We provide shower gel, shampoo and towels. Living room: We like to spread out on two couches and the stylish West Elm wing chair. There are plenty of board games, playing cards, novels, kids books and backlogs of magazines to read. Or hook your phone up to the speakers and play music on the stereo (bluetooth or plug). Kitchen: The kitchen is fully equipped with an six person farm table. You’ll have everything you need to cook a holiday meal, bake cupcakes, or just make coffee + toast and use the microwave for simple reheating. The refrigerator is a smaller European model but can hold enough food for a big family. Plus we have an energy efficient dishwasher for easy clean up. We provide a blender, crock pot/slow cooker, pots, pans, dishes and all utensils. If you need anything we don’t have, we'll do our very best to accommodate. We provide a lot of "starter stuff" so guests don't have to over-buy for short stays (condiments, Olive oil, spices, bug repellent, sunscreen, etc). Coffee. We love it! So we provide a couple different ways to make coffee. We have a Bonavita drip machine with a reusable brass filter. Or you can use our stainless steel french press. We provide Starbucks Medium roast coffee, sugar (and non-sugars), creamer, stevia. If you bring your own beans, you can use our electric burr grinder. We provide different kinds of tea because tea is good too. Entertainment: The house and property has high speed WiFi access. We installed a Ubiquiti wireless router so the internet reaches to all corners of the yard and around the house. If they even have it, many local rentals have either slow satellite access or limited bandwidth from the cell tower. We made sure to get fast, unlimited broadband. Lounge inside to check your email and catch up on videos, or hang out on the deck while researching cool hikes online. Both flat screens are hooked up to Apple TVs. You can watch unlimited shows and movies on our Netflix account, or sign in to any of your accounts to watch what you want (NFL, NHL, HBO, MLB, iTunes, Hulu, etc). Kid stuff: Because you're probably traveling with enough stuff already, we do have a high chair, a Pak n' Play, and plastic eating dishes for small kids. Just let us know if there's an infant in your group so we can have things ready for your arrival. BBQ: We have a brand new Weber gas grill with plenty of fuel. Have fun cooking on our custom hand-laid stone patio. We have foil, wooden skewers, and all the tools you need. There's a rock fire pit to build small campfires on the side yard above the patio. You can either buy firewood from the store or adventure across the street to gather wood in the National Forest. Be careful crossing the road! Outdoor Space: Our crowning renovation achievement is the black locust hardwood deck with a view of the Shenandoah Mountain Range. Six Adirondack chairs allow you to enjoy the view with a cold drink (bottle openers on every chair). Sunrises and sunsets are priceless. With no light pollution, you can see the Milky Way from the porch at night. The yard is fairly steep since the home is on a hill, but there is an area to walk your dog right outside the door for quick relief. We also have a long leash secured to a pole on the front porch by the BBQ area so dogs can safely be outside while you're cooking or lounging on the benches. Shenandoah River Outfitters: 500 ft from our front door is the Shenandoah River Outfitters. Here you can rent tubes, canoes, or kayaks to float down the river. They handle everything including life preservers, floating coolers, and transportation to and from the river. We have their schedule and prices posted in the house. It's an all day adventure. If you have your own equipment to float, you can drop off at the Bixler's Ferry Bridge and get out at the public boat landing just down from our house. It's a nice 3-4 hour float. Fishing: The Shenandoah River offers plenty of spots to fish. There's also a small public lake two minutes from the house. The fish are kept stocked by the Fish and Wildlife department. Great for kids who demand guaranteed bites! George Washington National Forest: The forest includes the land across the street from us, but it's a fifteen minute drive to some of the best hiking trails in the area. The Stephens Trail Hike offers panoramic views of the Shenandoah Valley along the Massanutten Mountain ridge line, ending at the stunning panoramic Kennedy's Peak tower. It's a really fun hike (our favorite) with lots of chances to see wildlife. Luray Caverns: The Caverns are world famous since they were discovered over a century ago. The family who runs the Caverns have done a great job creating an inspiring, tasteful experience. It's a perfect place for an afternoon trip underground. There also plenty of other activities for kids like the giant maze and jungle gym. The Pioneer museum showcases demonstrations on how the first settlers in the area lived. Shenandoah National Park: We're twenty miles from the entrance to the Shenandoah National Park. It's a quick drive with no traffic lights between you and the Park. You can buy a day or week pass into the park to drive the 110-mile Skyline Drive. Or choose from the approximately 100 day hikes (of varying difficulty) that show off the Park's many waterfalls and vistas. We have booklets describing all the hikes. If you want to get 5 feet away from a deer, you'll be able to. Sometimes it's fun to eat at Skyland on top of the mountain where you can see the all of Page County below. Weddings: Luray is known for its beautiful wedding venues. Our house is a perfect home base to stay when attending your friend's or family's wedding. We're just 13 miles from Khimaira Farm and Faithbrooke. In order to help you look your best, we have a full length mirror, iron and ironing board, and lint rollers. Small Town USA: Luray is 10 miles away. It's the a quintessential small American town with a number of restaurants from fancy dining to burger joints. Gathering Grounds is our coffee shop with wifi. Every Saturday morning from May-September, there's a great Farmer's market in town to pick up local produce and meat from area farms. The indoor Willow Grove Farm Market sells locally produced food all year long. Several pizza places deliver to the Mid Century house if you just want to relax and let someone else cook. Treasure hunt at the antique stores, or grab outdoor gear at the outfitters. The 6-screen movie theater, a true local treasure, is open for matinee and evening screenings. Uncle Bucks is the sports bar where locals enjoy the game (stays open till 1am every night). Several groceries stores and Walmart will provide you with everything you need. There's also The Valley Cork wine bar that's open Thurs-Sunday 4-10 to enjoy a local (or int'l) wine tasting. Hawksbill Brewery recently opened where they make all their own beer. The Luray Zoo is on the edge of town and famous for rescuing exotic animals. Perfect for kids who want to safely get close to animals (like goats!). A newly renovated hospital w/ a 24-hour emergency room is close by. We provide a binder with maps of everything in the area and are just a text away if you have questions. Renewable Power: We buy 100% renewable power from our local electric coop (SVEC), which buys the power from Stony Creek Wind Farm. We have an outdoor 110v outlet if you want to trickle charge your electric car (we hope to see more of them!). If you are Elon Musk, we'd love a supercharger, but we'll have to stick with 110v for now!
This is a quiet, rural river community. Full time residents are friendly and wave to strangers!
  • We fell in love with the touch of modernness during our cabin trip to this house. It was exactly like what we imagined a perfect cabin trip in West Virginia would be. Highly recommend!!

  • Can’t imagine a better AirBnB for visiting Shenandoah and the Luray area. Ryanne and Jay have put so much good time and effort and thought into this place. It looks even better in person, despite the excellent photos. We’ve never seen an AirBnB with so much cooking gear. Made meal making a breeze. Even the grill was impeccable clean. And somehow even the firewood was the best I’ve ever used haha. The hike they recommend has to be taken, if you’re able and interested. We actually liked it better than any we’ve done in Shenandoah proper.

  • Beautiful location, great for a mini family reunion with my brothers. Really appreciated the local suggestions. Would stay again!

    Colleen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A tranquil escape in the mountains.

    William2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place was AMAZING! I went for the weekend with a few friends and it exceeded all of our expectations. Inside is decorated beautifully and very stylish. The upstairs is PERFECT from the balcony, views, and huge couch to hangout on. Would definitely recommend, and stay here again.

    Lauren2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • As advertised, beautiful all around.

    Henry2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely wonderful. From the moment we walked in, it was quite clear that Ryanne and Jay had poured their hearts and souls into this cozy, yet surprisingly spacious home. I was vaguely familiar with Hygge, the Danish concept of creating happy spaces, before this trip, but having stayed here, I really get it now. The Hygge here is strong, with lots of wood, green plants, ample light, cozy nooks, and an abundance of great books. It was tempting to stay the whole weekend here without venturing to the nearby caves (our whole reason for coming to Luray), and next time we might just stay put! Ryanne and Jay, you’ve created something very special and we’re grateful that you shared it with us!

    Brandon2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ryanne and Jay were incredibly accommodating and communicative. Their home was warm, inviting, and thoughtfully curated. We will definitely be recommending this location to friends and family!

  • Angela was an amazing host, and our trip to the cabin will be one to remember! The cabin was amazingly cozy and clean, we felt right at home in this cute space. We enjoyed exploring the local area, hiking, and relaxing. The hot tub felt great after spending the chilly days out and about. We look forward to coming back soon, and couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

  • Great value, and nice location on the river. Loved the remote location. Enjoyed the fire pit and out door grill, hot tub was nice to relax at the end of the day. VERY CLEAN, kitchen essentials included. Definitely glad that I brought all my groceries for our stay, no stores or restaurants near by. Will keep in mind for this summer

    Nicole2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is absolutely amazing. My boyfriend and I rented the cabin for a weekend getaway to celebrate his graduation and it was the perfect place to do so. The home is clean, comfortable, secluded, and so so cozy! We enjoyed nighttime hot tub soaks under the stars and dancing around the kitchen while making delicious meals. We can’t wait to come back and would highly recommend this home to anyone looking.

    Elsa2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a beautiful winter weekend in December. The cabin is perfectly comfortable, cozy, and warm. We enjoyed our coffee inside by the gas fireplace and from the hot tub outside on the deck! Lots of firewood laying around for the fire pit too, no need to buy it. We toured the caverns, had a few beers at Hawksbill Brewing, and brought a pizza back from Gennaros! Looking forward to staying again!

  • My friends and I stayed at Mark’s place for a quick weekend trip. We really enjoyed the hot tub which fit all 6 of us comfortably and the great view of the mountains. It was easy to access hiking trails, and the house was super comfortable and spacious. We loved our stay and hope to return again for a longer trip sometime!

    Ryan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

  • Mark’s place was incredible. It served as the perfect retreat for my group of 4. The place was sparkling clean, fully stocked and the view is insane. The photos truly don’t do it justice. The communication was quick and Mark made sure that we were well informed. Highlights from my trip are the view (hands down) the hot tub, fireplace and the overall coziness of the space. Thank you, Mark for truly making this one of the best vacations I’ve ever had.

  • Angela's cabin was a great last minute find for my family of three. It's cozy with great river views and the bonus hot tub (enclosed in the screened in porch) is the perfect way to relax at the end of the day.

    Meigan2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • There are cabins on both sides but it is still very private. The view is fantastic to the river and our dogs enjoy running around playing fetch in the yard. This cabin has the best hot tub too. It is the best thing after a full day of hiking. The location of the cabin is really great. It is 20 mins to Luray downtown or the George Washington national Forest trails and about 50 minutes away from the Shenandoah National Park entrance. Both are very good distance that allows us to visit different spots during the 4 days when we stay there. We will be definitely be back.

    Jung-Shan2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, clean, cute cabin right on the water! The cabin itself was remote, and there was lots of space. The interior was kept clean and tidy, and most things you could need were provided. Hot tub and views cannot be beat! We wish the late check out time was a little later, since the nightly rate was on the expensive side. We will definitely be returning with more friends when the weather is nicer! Thank you!

Angela was extremely helpful getting us setup in the cabin even with the short notice. We all appreciate the hospitality and the great getaway with amazing views of the river!

  • I would recommend staying at David’s cabin 100%. This was the perfect weekend getaway from our busy everyday life. Read a lot of reviews prior to coming about the hill getting there, we have a truck so it wasn’t an issue. the reviews intimidated me more than it should have. i don’t know what anyone would expect staying an excluded cabin in the mountain. David was very helpful and kind by easily moving our stay a day back last minute due to an unexpected death in the family. Cabin was a lot bigger than i had expected. Having two bedrooms and two bathrooms with an extra tub in the master bedroom (this was a beautiful touch). We also loved the couch!! so so comfy we even contemplated asking david where it was from we liked it so much lol. Beautiful view from the windows & the hot tub. The only downfall was the hot tub didn’t get warm enough to sit in and relax —could have been bc it was just that cold out, not too sure. Already have a friend thinking of planning a trip to stay here, don’t hesitate and book. you won’t regret.

    Samantha2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had a great trip to David’s cabin! The views are spectacular! Perfect place for a weekend get away. We will be back!

    Tyler2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely LOVED staying here. The cabin is beautiful and absolutely immaculate. The space is so warm and inviting. We arrived at night and waking up to that view of the valley was really something I can't imagine getting tired of! It feels very private and secluded which is lovely as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the fire and the hot tub. I saw in other reviews about minimal kitchen stuff, but I would have to disagree. There was a great assortment of cooking utensils and pots and pans. I had brought all of my own and very much didn't need to at all. The house sleeps 6, so I don't believe you need tons of plates and silverware, but that's just my opinion. Do bring potholders though if you plan to use the oven! On the topic of the driveway, David's e-mail tells you to "give it some gas and stay to the left" in regards to the one small section of steeper hill and as long as you do that, you're fine. It's a cabin on the side of a mountain...there's going to be gravel and bumps and holes. Don't let that scare you. Your car will be fine and you will be fine. The house is SO worth it! My 1997 Honda Civic did it with no problem and it had been raining all day! For those who are concerned about it, we had plenty of cell service (Verizon and StraightTalk) Just stop looking around at cabins and book this one. It has everything you need and David was quick to respond and wonderful to work with. We will definitely be returning.

    Hannah2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • David was very responsive when messaged. The place is described as it was. The views were beautiful and you can see a lot of stars at night. The place was very clean and the basic needs were met ( towels, sheets, etc.) My recommendation for this place is a 4x4 suv or truck to get up the driveway. It is steep, with pot holes. Thank you again, David. We would recommend to anyone.

    Kris2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The views are absolutely amazing!

    Samir2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend for location and romance. We went antiquing and hiking during the day and cooked dinner and enjoyed the cabin at night. We will be back for sure.

    Elizabeth2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was wonderful and exactly as described. The view from the porch was picturesque, the hot tub was great, and the cabin had a rustic feel but was still pretty fancy for a house on the side of a mountain. David was prompt with the communication and easy to deal with. It was a great place to get away from the city and but still have a bit of connectivity. As others said, the last mile of the drive up to the modern log cabin was a bit rough. Was fine in our SUV going slow. Would be a bit more interesting with a small vehicle. Don’t plan on quick trips to the store. Come with supplies and a plan to stay there other than a daily excursion. Was a 30 min drive to some good hikes and not too far from Luray and the cute and affordable stores and restaurants it had to offer for the one or two meals we ventured out for. Uncle Bucks was a very affordable blast from the past for a quick meal. The cabin itself is quite gorgeous inside. Wood throughout and looks and feels new. The satellite tv was fine if you need to put something on. No wi-if but the cell service was decent 85% of the time we were there (Verizon). Hot tub worked great and is well placed on a specious porch that leaves plenty of room for morning coffee or breakfast with a view. Two bedrooms, one is an open lofted room upstairs and then a more private room downstairs with jacuzzi tub. Cabin had the very basics. 6-8 plates, bowls, 4-6 sets of utensils, glassware. There were a few pots and pans and some big cooking and popcorn bowls, as well as the minimum cooking utensils needed to make dinner. Microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine, electric stove, etc. We had to grab some paper towels and dishwashing liquid at wal-mart because what was left there ran out while we were there. You drop your own trash off a few miles south or you pay a fee for removal. We will stay again in the future!

    Ed2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • The view from this house is spectacular, the sunsets are magical. The hot tub on the deck to enjoy the view even in the winter is absolutely the icing on the cake. The cabin is clean and beautiful. Definitely would recommend this mountain hideaway that is still close enough to a town and beautiful drives and wineries. Also loved how private it was, you can't see any other houses nearby. One note, definitely a higher clearance vehicle needed for the driveway. An SUV would be OK. We made it up the hill in a toyota suv without having to use the four wheel drive, but I can see where a sedan or lower car might be a bit difficult.

  • This cottage is beautiful. It is decorated nicely. When we were there, the TV didn't work, so if this is an issue, you may want to confirm that first. The homemade blueberry bread left for us was delicious!

  • At Jim and Lisa's Black Bear cabin you can expect everything the listing says and shows, plus more. We marveled at how thoughtful they have been in providing for all that guest like we may expect from renting a cabin for relaxation. Our bed was very comfortable (soft). The cleanliness shone everywhere. All the lights, TV remotes and other power-operated devices worked well. One can see plenty of spares of things everywhere. Jim and Lisa obviously want guests to have the ultimate perfect stay in their cabin. And we did!

    Jaime2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is just amazing exceeded all our expectations. The place was extremely clean and smelled fresh when we arrived, Jim and Lisa are also both very quick to respond and accommodating to us, definitely recommend to everyone .

  • This cabin is within 30 minutes of all the best sites in the Shenandoah Valley. We were 15 minutes from Luray caverns, and 25 minutes from Massanutten Water park. The views of the mountains are stunning and provided a wonderful backdrop for resting after a run and calm meditation on the porch. On a clear night we were able to lay down in the yard and see 3 times the number of stars we usually see in Frederick, MD.

*MOUNTAIN MOONSHINE* Whether you're looking for a place to have a family retreat, a romantic hideaway, an excursion with friends or just an excuse to get out of the city...Mountain Moonshine has all the space & seclusion you'll need for a perfect vacation atop the Blue Ridge Mountains!
Log Cabin with all that you could want to enjoy relaxing in the Mountains. Hot Tub, Log Fires, Swimming Pool in Summer, Covered porch to enjoy the views in all seasons & weather.
  • This place is incredible. If you are booking for the hot tub, you will not regret it. However, make sure you have a 4WD vehicle! Our car slid down the mountain road, and we had to borrow a vehicle to get up to the cabin.

    Benjamin2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ashley's place is an amazing cabin. It is very comfortable and the location is great. I would definitely stay here again!

    Juliana2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying here for our anniversary. The views from the porch and hot tub are amazing. Also a great place for stargazing at night. House is kept very clean and orderly. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a private getaway in the mountains.

    Mitchell2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing spot for a super relaxing getaway! The views from the front porch are incredible, and out back with the pool and hot tub you really have everything you need. The house is laid out nicely, feels cozy but roomy. There were 8 of us and 2 dogs and it was plenty of space. We cooked up a storm in the kitchen (which is well stocked with pots/pans/utensils/glassware) and made s'mores over the firepit. The drive up to the cabin, as others have said, is a bit touch and go but can be done without 4WD. My boyfriend's loaded down Toyota Corolla made it with only one really tough spot. But it was obviously much easier for our friends in the Jeep! Just don't try and get up there with a super tiny car. We loved our time here!!

    Jordan2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ashley's cabin is beautiful! The views overlooking the mountains are stunning, and the location was good for heading into Shenandoah to hike. My friends and I loved hiking then coming back to swim while overlooking the mountains! People were not kidding about the steep driveway, having a 4wd SUV really helped!

    Susan2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the house was perfect. The views of the valley were amazing and we were so secluded! Make sure you have four wheel drive, especially if there’s any bad weather. It was everything it claims to be and more!

    Billy2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and very comfortable. If you enjoy cooking you'll love the spacious kitchen with great views. The beds were extremely comfortable and the whole cabin was nice and clean. The pool and hot tub were enjoyable as well. It has a very distinct European feel with the showers and bedrooms. I personally loved it! The drive up is quite vertical and can be very intimidating however it is doable. I would not reccomend going up in a minivan or sedan. We were able to make it up in a 4runner and my sister visited us for a few hours and made it up just fine in a newer pathfinder 4x4. It's worth the drive! Very close to tourist attractions and grocery /Walmart is close by (20mins). This cabin is clean, comfortable and has everything you'll need for a wonderful vacation.

  • Lovely little cabin, very clean, private and comfortable. One thing to keep in mind: hosts restrict hot tub temp to 100, which is a little more like taking a warm bath outside than a hot tub. Otherwise, great place! Really cute town, and lots of helpful suggestions in the guest booklet. Recommend!

  • Excellent hospitality!! We will come back!!

    Harold J2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin was everything we could have expected, extremely clean and cute "cabin" feel. The home had everything we could have needed and even had some cute touches with candy and hot chocolate for winter. We stopped in the nearby town of Stanley for groceries which seemed to have everything at the Food Lion, if you want more specific things you may have to get them before you arrive. While it does have pretty good internet it's still a little remote so it's not as fast for streaming or downloading on certain streaming services (Netflix seemed fine) which was not a problem for us but something to keep in mind, maybe download a particular movie or bring some DVDs (they have a nice/big TV and DVD player). We absolutely loved the hot tub, view from the front deck was beautiful, it was very private, the fireplace was a wonderful touch and very easy to operate. The host has thought of every detail to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible! We also booked only a night in advance, yet Jim and Lisa made sure to respond right away and were very sweet! Loved it and would love to come again!

    Chelsie2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect, it’s quiet the hot tub was super nice, there were plenty of towels and blankets and space, check in was quick and easy! Everything was super clean, Jim and Lisa were very responsive and attentive...it snowed Tuesday and Lisa let me know the night before that was super helpful. Just a tip make sure your vehicle has 4 wheel drive just Incase it snows! Loved my stay here! Definitely recommend!!

    Emily2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • To say this place was great, would be an understatement. Jim & Lisa have thought of everything. One only needs to bring clothes and food. Everything else is right there at your disposal and I do mean EVERYTHING. I can honestly say, the cabin exceeded my expectations. Looking forward to returning soon.

The hot tub was a great add on and the location of the cabin was what we were looking for when we wanted some peace and quiet. Highly recommend it if you’re looking to disconnect for a weekend. We cannot wait to make it back at a later date.

  • The coziness of this cabin made us feel at peace. It was clean and beautifully put together. I enjoyed the peace and sounds of nature that surrounded us. The small and hospitable touches made us feel right at home. Brenda is a wonderful host and made every step of the process incredibly easy and concise! I can honestly say that this will not be the last time that we stay at this location. I am excited to see it in the spring and summertime.

    Brandi2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda was a great host. She was welcoming and very flexible in accommodations. Her abode was perfect, from the hot tub, to the available games she provides, to thoughtfulness behind providing firewood so we can make a fire. I would definitely consider coming back here, especially in the Spring for hikes in Shenandoah.

    Blake2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was such a lovely find! Although in a small little neighborhood, you feel completely isolated in this cabin, even in the winter when the trees are sparse. There is a beautiful firepit overlooking the mountains with a perfect clearing in the trees for stargazing. The cabin is well stocked with cooking gear (though no spices or oil) and is so stylishly and comfortably furnished. Plus, there is a hot tub! Everything was so well maintained, easy to access, and perfect for a quick winter solstice getaway. And it is pet friendly, with a screened in porch for maximum pet enjoyment! A true gem :)

    Meriam2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is everything you would want in a nice cabin stay in the woods. Exceeded our quick over night stay expectations. Very nice and relaxing place to get away.

  • Sparkling clean cabin with so many unexpected amenities such as cleaning supplies, hand soap, COFFEE WITH FILTERS, dish soap, Plenty of pots, pans, utensils. Bed was super comfortable, hot tub was very clean and HOT!!! TV and internet was a plus, but didnt use much. Couldn't stay away from the hot tub and fire pit!!! Loved the fact that there was seasoned firewood stacked by the driveway!!! All in all a fantastic experience!!!!!!!!!

  • This is a great getaway spot. The house was incredibly clean and had everything provided for a comfortable stay. It’s a very private property and is extremely relaxing, but I also appreciated the fact there are neighboring homes not too far away. I loved using the fire place, the hot tub was fantastic, the bed was very comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked. I would absolutely stay here again, it was perfect for a quick solo getaway and would also be great for couples.

*NEWLY RENOVATED* Stunning mountain views & natural light pour into this updated midcentury home. You can see the view from any angle within the open concept living room/kitchen. The warmth of the original wood floors set against the industrial yet rustic kitchen & cool, relaxing colors throughout the home create a soothing atmosphere for ultimate relaxation.
As the name implies, this cabin is at the top of a mountain. From Mountain Top's 2,000 foot elevation you can see for miles over the Shenandoah Valley, River & Blue Ridge Mountains. This unique property also borders the Shenandoah National Park!
  • Wonderful cabin getaway. Make sure to take advantage of the hot tub, beautiful waterfall hike, and GORGEOUS sunsets. Pairs well with wine and friends. Please note: the spiral staircase is beautiful, but a little narrow so just be careful (they have step grips which are great and very helpful). Overall had a wonderful time, host was responsive and helpful with answering all of our questions. Hope to come back again soon.

    Shelley2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The view has to be one of the best in the valley and it’s prime for star gazing as well. Caroline also answered all my questions via the air bnb chat very quickly so it was good to have that communication for anything we needed. We didn’t hVe dish soap she was able to get the onsite manager to stop by with more soap so A+ service! The road up to the cabin is no joke (I don’t do much camping or outdoorsy stuff) but you just take it slow and you’ll be fine. I would recommend AWD or 4WD. Overall great experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a low key vacation.

    Connor2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The setting was gorgeous and the trail easy to find. We loved sitting in the hot tub and looking at the stars. If you can get up early enough to watch the sun come up and fill the valley, the light is great. The place was cozy and perfect for a romantic weekend away.

    Arianna2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay!! The cabin is very cozy and the view was incredible. I would DEFINITELY recommend a 4WD. I have a 4WD and had no issues, however my friend does not and she could not get her car up the mountain. Thank you Caroline!

    Sara2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house provided a perfect getaway from D.C. for the weekend. The hot tub was warm and ready when we arrived, and the clear skies provided for amazing stargazing at night. The house has all of the basic kitchen essentials, and made for a great weekend. We look forward to a return visit.

    Brandon2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a cozy/cute getaway, this is the place. It’s high enough on the mountain to give you the seclusion and views you desire, but also within a quick 15-20 minute drive from anything you may need! We especially loved the hot tub. It was just what the 7 of us in my group needed to reconnect and have a great time. We would definitely return!!!

    Natasha2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing view! The house is well appointed, even without some of the little things. The bedrooms have great views, the hot tub is amazing, and the overall space is cozy. Definitely bring sheets and towels, plus any spices for cooking and coffee filters and paper towels. The road up is rough - we went in a truck without 4wd and were fine, but there were definitely some rough spots. Overall, loved it and would stay again!

Looking for a "Shack" experience? Spend time in the foothills of the Skyline Drive at our cozy cottage. Well behaved dogs are welcome. The driveway is long and home is very secluded. Set on 60 acres. Winter access will be subject to weather conditions. Driveway does not get plowed Cell service is spotty however the house has a landline and wifi.
It's a peaceful, spiritual place tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains
The deer, the bears, turkeys...mostly the chipmunks that play in the stonewall outside my kitchen window
  • Place to be if you want a beautiful and secluded cottage near Shenendoah NP and Front Royal. House is very clean and immaculate. Has everything you need. Valerie has created a very welcoming place. Kitchen fully equipped. Bed comfortable. Solid wifi. Nice fire pit. Great local tips on the area including hikes, food, etc. if you want a cabin in the woods in this area this is it. Highly recommended. Thanks!

  • We booked this stay thinking we would spend the weekend hiking in Shenandoah but the property was so nice we ended up spending most of our time at the cabin and the nearby trails on the property.

    Russell2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our best Airbnb experience by far! Valerie's cottage had much more than we expected and really beautiful and thoughtful setting. We enjoyed watching movies on the comfortable sofa, making meals in the spacious kitchen and enjoy the sunshine, warming up next to the gas fireplace, and enjoying the beautiful view. Spend sometime at the cottage and you will have a perfect retreat experience in the woods. Cannot wait to come back.

No neighborhood or HOAs! We are on 16 acres and surrounded by farmland and the Shenandoah River, nestled neatly between the Blue Ridge and Massanutten mountains. There are three cabins on site, however, but plenty of room to roam and explore.
  • We had high hopes with this charming cabin and yet somehow were still blown away! From the peaceful river to the fireplaces, this was everything we needed for our getaway. If you are looking for a relaxing place to make your base camp while exploring everything that Shenandoah and Luray have to offer, look no further! The cabin was comfortable and extraordinarily clean. Jennifer was also amazing to communicate with and answered with lightening speed. There are not enough nice things I can say about this place and we will definitely want to stay here again!

  • Jennifer’s place was in the perfect location to enjoy Luray! Very well placed to see the caverns, Shenandoah, or even Harrisonburg!

  • Magnificent cottage in a supremely peaceful and beautiful setting! Jennifer's description is accurate and all the additional information (from check-in to house guidelines to local recommendations) were spot-on and helpful. The home was very clean and everything was as hoped for. A true cottage for R and R.

  • The location is so convenient to downtown and areas like Luray Caverns and skyline drive if you are looking To visit them while in town! The cabin itself is so cozy and Jennifer was great to communicate with throughout the whole process and just a call away if we needed anything. I look forward to visiting in the warmer months!

TimberWend is a great get-away offering an unparalleled escape. It borders the Shenandoah National Park and overlooks one of the park's least visited waterfalls, Greasy Falls. It has a spectacular fifty-mile view on a clear day and the closest neighbor is one-half mile away.
The driveway to TimberWend is one-half mile long and is not plowed in the winter. SUV recommended. There is a locked gate at the entrance with a key box. Internet is via a satellite dish. It is a 5g system which should provide adequate speeds for most functions, but can be negatively affected by weather and high band width satellite usage. Cell phone service is available to AT&T customers through wifi calling. There is a land line for emergencies.
Our closest neighbor is one-half mile away. The forest is our neighbor and we like the quietness of the place. Very relaxing!
  • This cabin is set in a beautiful location and is the perfect get away! The cabin is well stocked and Bess is an amazing super host.

    Melissa2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay, Bess has put the most thoughtful touches into the house. The view was beautiful and the home was cozy, clean, and relaxing.

  • A little peace of heaven..so relaxing. Everything was so perfect!

    Lotta2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This gorgeous cabin with its enormous picture windows and breathtaking views is a balm to the soul. It was just as described, perfectly clean, comfortable beds and unbeatable location next to the Shenandoah National Park. We were charmed by the little touches from gifted host Bess, who's very thoughtful and replies quickly to any questions. If you're looking for a place to rest, relax and find peace in nature, this is it!

  • A homey, comfortable, and cozy cabin tucked away from the world. The cabin was very clean and had anything you could need, and if you did need anything else, the host was VERY hospitable. It’s about 20-30 minute drive to the nearest restaurant or town. Shenandoah National Park is right in the backyard, there’s a waterfall you can hear from the balcony... which was a fun and easy hike. The driveway was a little daunting, about 1/2 mile of bumpy terrain. Overall it was a great stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend off the grid!

    Madeline2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • A great mountain & forest escape. An incredibly cozy cabin, truly remote. Bess makes sure to stock the cabin full of all possible necessities for cooking, as well as a very nice selection for breakfast in the fridge. Went in the winter, it snowed the following day and you could see the frozen waterfall up close. For hiking, would recommend going onto Skyline drive and doing those hikes if you care more about getting to a nice view or peak. Nearby trails and hikes are nice too. Keep in mind that Google Maps may accidentally lead you to a driveway before the correct one. If you can't find it, or don't think you're at the right gate, keep driving on the road following the address numbers! The road was tackled by a Honda Fit (no snow). Bumpy, but okay as long as your car isn't a convertible or something. A very very nice stay for a couple, wifi is satellite based, so don't expect to stream movies, but there is a nice selection of blueray movies at the cabin. Incredibly cozy, would recommend :)

  • If you're looking to get away from the city to recharge and enjoy the outdoors then this is the place for you. The cabin is completely secluded tucked away right up to the boundary of Shenandoah National Park. Bess also includes breakfast items (as others have mentioned) which is above and beyond what I have experienced at other Airbnbs. Great Experience!!

    Mike2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the perfect getaway! When you first walk in, you instantly notice how homey it feels. Bess has included many special little touches in the home to really allow you to settle in comfortably. We enjoyed the breathing views each day from the front porch and the beautiful waterfall to the side of the home. Bess left some breakfast foods in the fridge which we enjoyed. We also enjoyed some great DVD selections while enjoying warmth from the wood burning stove. Please take notice of feedback regarding the type of vehicle you need to manage the road leading to the home. We had an SUV and it was worth it for the drive. We would absolutely book this place again!

  • We brought along a couple dogs and Charlie was really accommodating of us for the weekend. The property is really nice and the views from the porch are excellent. We found some really good hiking and wineries within a half hour drive. The only thing to look out for is that the last mile up to the house is all dirt roads with a lot of potholes, you should make sure you've got a car that can handle it.

    Andy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Charles’ place was great! The view is absolutely stunning and it comfortably fit our group of 9. You do have to make sure to bring your own sheets and towels, but everything is clearly communicated in advance. Would definitely come back again.

    Sarah2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin nestled in the Shenandoah Mountains. Charles let us borrow the Jeep since our car couldn't make it up the last part of the driveway. Definitely will be back!

    Noah2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great cabin with a gorgeous view! It's a little more BIY (bring it yourself) than other Airbnbs I've stayed at in that you need to carry your own linens, toilet paper, dishwasher pods, etc. so remember to pack everything you may need for a weekend away. Other than that, there's plenty of space for a large group, lots of lovely places to sit and enjoy the view and the place is clean and comfortable. I personally loved the fireplace and wrap-around porch. Charles is prompt and responsive to messages. Please take his guidance on vehicles seriously, one of our cars didn't make it up the mountain because of the rain. My group enjoyed our stay and is planning another trip back in the summer to enjoy the pool.

  • This was an amazing place to get-away! The view is better than I could of imagined and look forward to visiting again. Definitely don’t miss out staying here!

    Cate2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my large group (11 total) stayed at Charles' cabin for a long weekend in January. The view was incredible and there was more than enough space for all of us. Charles was very responsive and accommodating as well. As advertised, there were no linens such as pillow covers or bed sheets, and no towels, but it was no problem for us to bring our own. We had ample cell service despite the location of the cabin in the mountains which was nice, and getting up the driveway in low clearance front wheel drive sedans was definitely doable in good, dry weather. There were some scratches by rocks on then undercarriage but nothing unexpected at all. When it snowed or the ground was muddied by some rain, though, parking at the grass lot on at the bottom of that hill was 100% necessary. Fortunately this isn't a big deal as there is ample room for cars at the base of the hill and the trek up the mountain to the cabin from there isn't far. Charles provided us a location guide and we had a great time exploring Luray Caverns, going to Hawksbill Brewing company, and going for runs around Rileyville.
