The place was very clean and comfortable. The ground are spectacular, lovely to sit in the hot tub overlooking them. There are some great country walks too, and the Monkton pub down the road served fantastic food. There isn't Netflix available so we stuck on some DVDs which were pretty hilarious, there are some available in the apartment to watch. We had a lovely time, Mary was a great host and we would recommend staying here!

COVID AND CARE WORKERS ONLY AT THIS ACCOMMODATION TILL END OF AUGUST 2020 A light and airy barn in contemporary style with far reaching views and good internet. Located on a smallholding on the edge of the Quantock Hills and only 3 miles from Taunton & the M5, it's easy to get to but so quiet. It has a kingsize bed, bunkbeds, and open-plan living space with sofa bed. It is accessible to those with difficulty walking and to wheelchair users. A cot and high chair are available.
Grace Barn has high ceilings and is extremely light and airy with lovely views from the living space, bedroom and private terrace. It is accessible to all and has a contemporary but cosy interior that works well in all seasons. There is underfloor heating throughout, and also a woodburner for cooler evenings. A barbecue is provided on the terrace (you will need your own charcoal). There are plenty of country walks from the Barn and dogs (max 2) are welcome at no extra cost. Please bring your own dog bed and throws to cover floors and sofas and ensure they do not leave hairs or mud on the furnishings. The bathroom has a bath, and also a wheelchair accessible shower. It is located in the middle of the barn with two doors - one direct to the main bedroom (like an ensuite), and a second door to the hallway near the bunk bed room. Several groups have used Grace Barn as a base from which to get married - it works well for this, and is close to a number of wedding venues including Hestercombe House. Please note we also have a self contained one-bedroomed Garden Flat close to Grace Barn, and a cabin in the meadow which are both available for rent. Please enquire if you wish to know more or find the separate listings at this same location.
We love our location on the edge of the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is peaceful , unspoilt Somerset countryside at its best but only 3 miles from facilities such as shops, restaurants, entertainment and transport links. There are many places to visit within easy reach such as beaches, walking, mountain biking, gardens and historic houses, as well as several wedding venues in easy reach.
  • A wonderful place to relax,A host couldn't be more inviting and pleasant, Such beautiful accommodation. we would 100% stay again if we were in the area. Thanks you !

  • We had a lovely stay here! The barn is so beautiful with the decor and the scenery. We would defiantly love to return. Rosie is a lovely host and we felt very welcome at the barn.

  • We had a lovely weekend away with our dog, it was a great location for exploring the local beaches. The house was absolutely beautiful, amazing views and really lovely touches. Would highly recommend

    Zoe2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is beautiful, clean and really comfortable. Really didn't want to leave. I'd highly recommend a stay here.

    Christopher2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay if you just want to unwind. Plenty to see and do as most things close by good tips in house manual. Two things we did that were recommended is the daisy cottage tea room very nice. If you like your Indian maliha is just the best takeaway. Even when the weather is rubbish can’t beat putting on the wood burner and watch the weather the key thing they did if for me and my daughter a clear night you can see the best stars ever I’m a city boy and I was in a wow mode

    Martin2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Rosie’s place was much better than expected. I stay in a lot of Airbnb properties and many have everything, but that everything is almost always cheaper quality items - Rosie’s place is decked out with obviously higher quality finishing and equipment. I loved the fire so much, but I ran out of fuel - Rosie provided me with some more practically immediately. Couldn’t recommend more! Oh, according to Rosie’s own advert, the internet is only fast enough for email etc. However, my own internet speed test showed a speed of 6mbps - so it is plenty fast enough for multiple streaming devices. The internet speed would have been the only negative, but it seems that there are no negatives at all, I will definitely return!

    David2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Not our 1st time here, and hopefully not our last. Lovely place, you wont be disappointed.

    Colin2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • So much better than we expected and that's saying something as we were expecting it to be great anyway. It was clean and the underfloor heating worked a treat as we were lovely and warm all our stay. The views are something special and I can only describe it as being picture frame like. We will definitely come back in the summer.

Welcome to Stepps House, a large 17th century Grade 2 listed thatched farmhouse in the centre of the village of Broadway, South Somerset. 20 minutes from M5 and only a few minutes from the A303 and A358. Ideally placed to enjoy walks or cycling over the lovely Somerset countryside and within an hour or so to the Dorset and Devon beaches. Guest accommodation is in a back wing of the house which is self contained and has it's own entrance door at the side.
Besides the self contained wing of the house we do have the facility to add a further 2 double ensuite bedrooms in the main part of the house for the larger party. An interconnecting door between main house landing and back wing allows guests to join the others in their party and not feel separated.
We are in a village with good road connections to A358, A303 and 20 minutes from M5. At foot of Blackdown Hills with its many walking trails and only 20+ miles from the Dorset coast. Good cycling countryside. Main town of Taunton 10 miles away, Yeovil 12 miles, Crewkerne 6 miles, Chard 5 miles, Ilminster 3 miles. Main line rail stations in Taunton and Crewkerne with National Express running from Taunton. A few minutes' walk from us we have a newly opened refurbished pub and another pub and shop with post office within walking distance. There is no shortage of other eating and drinking places in the area. Golf courses near Taunton and Crewkerne. South Somerset covers a large area with plenty of activities for families during the summer months. National Trust and English Heritage properties in the area and well worth a visit.
  • Great find. We only used Maureen’s place for a one night stopover but would happily have spent more time there. The house was clean and comfortable and Maureen left us breakfast supplies for the morning.

  • Perfect easy going host and a great location, with unbeatable value for money

    Sam2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful home with lots of character. Maureen and her husband were lovely hosts and made us feel right at home. The private wing of the house is great for a group of friends or family with its own seating area, kitchen, bathroom, and two comfortable bedrooms. Definitely stay here if you are traveling through the beautiful English countryside.

There are national trust homes to visit as well as Cidar farms, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole. Beautiful walks and cycle rides along the river of Langport where you can stop for lunch at the cafe on the river. There is a village stores just yards away and a small Tesco’s, award winning bakers and butchers in LAngport 1 mile away where, on a Friday morning, is the village market and fish van who brings fresh fish straight up from the south coast. All in all there is plenty to do and see in the surrounding area.
  • We had such a lovely stay! It is the most beautiful location and stunning interior of the stable block. The highlight was seeing 6 deer hopping through the grounds from the window! Jenni provided lovely little touches in the fridge and all the kit for our 1 year old which was of huge help. Everything was immaculate and in perfect working condition - the comfiest bed ever and the most luxurious bath, only wish we could have stayed for longer! Thank you.

Located in the sleepy village of North Curry on the edge of the Somerset Levels. Ideal for exploring Somerset and only 15 minutes away from the county town of Taunton and 10 minutes from the M5. The village has 3 pubs (1 in walking distance), a shop/post office and a community coffee shop. The Shepherd's Hut is located on a small campsite and smallholding with sheep, goats and chickens. The site is a campsite 'no kids allowed' and is very peaceful, you can hear the birds tweeting & switch off.
The space is quite basic just a posh camping pod. There are no bedding/linen/towels provided but there is cushions and a crochet blanket. There are electric lights, a kettle, fridge and electric points for charging phones etc. There is a pot bellied stove and barbeque (logs included). No cooking facilities are provided or running water, there is a water bottle and washing up bowl though. The toilet and shower facilities are shared with the campsite. There is a table and chairs (bistro set) that can be used inside or out. The Shepherd's Hut has it's own garden (fully fenced) and you can park your car inside or outside the gate. Small dogs can be welcomed by arrangement. It is a very beautiful Shepherd's Hut with a carved bed frame and solid oak walls and floors so it is very well insulated. It has lots of lovely details like the wooden heart trim outside and working wooden shutters. It is very much no frills but in a beautiful setting and the price reflects this.
The village has a lovely pub called the Bird in Hand which does great food and a community coffee shop which is great for coffee and cakes. There is a Post Office/Shop that sells local brands from artisan producers as well as the usual range of goods and newspapers/magazines. The village has a beautiful church dubbed the Cathedral of the Moors because of it position above the Somerset Levels looking down over the moors towards the river Tone. It is actually the Church of St Peter and St Paul though. It has been in the same spot since Norman times and has some unusual gargoyles too! The next village of Stoke St Gregory has the Willow and Wetlands centre with a small museum and tours where you can see how willow is grown and produced. Boasting a fantastic café and a few other shops and a nature walk down to river it's a great spot to spend time and learn about the local area. There are also lots of footpaths in the village so it's a great way to see the village.
  • A lovely cute and cosy Shepherds hut, a fantastic compromise for any reluctant campers and even had sheep neighbours to wake up to. We really enjoyed our stay and left well rested and relaxed.

  • The Shepherds hut at Doolittle’s campsite is lovely. Fab value for money at less than £35 for the night. It’s rustic and simple with everything you need. Being able to be free to have a fire outside and in and just to be left alone to enjoy the peace and quiet is a real treat. The campsite is small and very pretty being in the middle of an apple orchard which I just loved. I owned a shepherds hut myself on land and my ultimate dream was to have an apple orchard, so it was a dream for me. My partner booked this as a little treat for us. The night was very windy and raining on and off, but we were lovely and cosy inside. The nuts from the tree that the hut is under we’re dropping on the tin roof all night and was super loud, but it didn’t interrupt our sleep at all. We couldn’t sign into the free WiFi, it just kept saying the pw was incorrect and I did write to the owners asking about it but got no reply. But it didn’t bother us. It was nice to be not on our phones. When lighting the pot belly in the hut the smoke detector goes off a lot! Pot bellies do smoke a lot to begin with unless properly cleaned after each use. But I know that because of health and safety a smoke detector is essential. But under normal circumstances I guess you wouldn’t have a smoke detector. A great stay and we would definitely stay again. ☺️

  • Just a beautiful piece of heaven, with tranquillity and peace! The Shepherds Hut was gorgeous, so homely with a lovely enclosed garden for my 6mth puppy. Elizabeth and her Dad were so friendly and helpful, and Elizabeth even did an emergency repair on my pup's harness when she decided to chew through it, for which I was so grateful, she did an amazing job! Felt so at home and relaxed there, I didn't want to leave. The village of North Curry was beautiful and all the local people I met were so friendly. Definitely a place I want to return to hopefully next year.

    Joanna2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • A sweet cosy little hut with all the basics. My hubbie particularly liked the fire pit and went all caveman, cooking our supper! The welcome pack of coffee etc was helpful too. Theres a local shop down the road that sells a pretty good range of food. The setting was lovely and quiet.

    Anita2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • An ideal little escape from the daily life, don’t expect more than a shepherds hut but it’s definitely worth escaping too. Hosts are spot on with there advice and responses

    Luke2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • It was beautiful, close walk to the local village and lovely to just sit and have a camp fire with all the sheep around!

    Daisy2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful tranquil space to chill out. Just mind the moths and spiders lol. Which I don’t mind as I love nature. Very relaxing

  • Beautiful shepherds hut in North Curry, John & Jojo his Collie were so lovely, we absolutely loved having our own little pitch, fenced off for privacy, and a lovely spot for sun & shade! The hut was gorgeous, so cute, & so warm, perfect facilities everything we needed, we used our gas camping stove to cook on which worked perfectly. John brought us some firewood on request so we had a good burn up on Sat night, our fav part of the weekend. Great facilities super clean and tidy we will be back, thank you so much ❤️ xxxxx

Atherstone Farm Cottage is a beautiful and newly refurbished grade II listed thatched cottage in the tiny hamlet of Atherstone in Somerset, two miles from Ilminster. Its rural location and carefully restored interiors make it a great countryside bolt-hole. Both bedrooms are ensuite, one with a roll top bath and shower, the other a walk-in wetroom / shower. The house also has a modern kitchen, with a separate utility room, and a large stone-floored living and dining room with a wood-burning stove.
With a stone floor, ancient beams and thatched roof it's the picture of a romantic country cottage, but now updated with a modern kitchen, bathrooms and entertainment system. Its rural location makes it a great escape for those looking for a countryside bolt-hole, with plenty of pubs to walk / cycle to and things to see and do nearby, and convenient shopping in Ilminster is not far away. There are two comfortable bedrooms, both en-suites., with deep mattresses, 400 thread count cotton bedding, indulgent mattress toppers and fluffy bathrobes, so you can truly settle into the cosiness of the cottage. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and a spacious bathroom with a roll-top bath and walk-in shower. The second bedroom can be arranged as a superking-sized double or with two single beds. Its bathroom is a walk-in modern wetroom with heated stone tile floors. The house has a large living area for four people, with a long dining / sitting room. The sitting room has comfortable sofas, a wood-burning stove set into a large stone fireplace and is equipped with a 55’ flatscreen internet-connected TV with a Bluetooth soundbar that can be used to play music / radio through the TV or from a Bluetooth device, or just envelop those who want to relax with a movie. The kitchen is modern and well equipped with an electric oven, hob and dishwasher. There is a separate utility room with a large fridge-freezer (including ice-machine) and a washer-drier. There is also good-sized private lawn, a charcoal bbq and teak outdoor table and chairs for the summer (or the hardy!)
Atherstone Farm Cottage is part of an old grade II listed farm that has been part of the Dillington Estate since at least 1725. The cottage is found at one end of the farmhouse - with the other half of the house also available to rent as a separate 4 bed house. The two are joined through lockable doors on the ground floor for the convenience of any groups renting both. The farm is in the tiny hamlet of Atherstone, which is surrounded by fields and woods that are accessible on foot and bicycle through the myriad of local country lanes and footpaths. Nearby there are several pubs, some within walking distance – like the Barrington Boar – others a little further, but worth cycling or driving to, such as the Dinnington Docks or Lord Poulett Arms. Barrington House, a National Trust house with gardens open to the public, is nearby, as is Dillington House. The Dennis Chinaworks in Shepton Beauchamp are also very close and worth a visit, for the tea rooms as much as anything else. There are several local cider producers whose orchards and presses are worth seeing, Perry’s Cider in Dowlish Wake being one, and Julian Temperley’s cider and cider brandy distillery over at Burrow Hill another. A little further away the beach at Lyme Regis and walks along the Jurassic coastline are 40mins or so to the South, and the Hauser and Wirth gallery near Bruton is 40 mins or so to the East.
  • Atherstone Farmhouse Cottage is a lovely place for a rural stay in Somerset. It’s location so close to both Devon and Dorset made it a perfect base for exploring both the coast and the countryside. Ilminster is just a five minute drive away and has great shops and amenities. The cottage itself is very clean and deceptively spacious; it was equipped with everything you would need including a highchair and cot for our young son. The bathroom in the master bedroom was a real treat. Communication was very quick and clear and recommendations for local pubs/shops were excellent. Would highly recommend a visit.

    Paul2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in one of the prettiest areas we’ve visited in the UK. The house itself is immaculate, spacious, and charming. Really appreciated the heaps of firewood for cozy evenings around the living room as well as private garden for breakfast in the sunshine. Great local suggestions as well, we had an excellent lunch at the Lord Poullet Arms nearby.

    Jessica2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning property and it’s one of the cleanest I’ve stayed at, everything is perfect. There’s a fantastic log burner and a big basket of logs for you to burn. The decor is wonderful, everything is really tastefully done. Loved the bath robes and the toiletries that were provided. The Barrington Boar is a very short drive and it’s a really great pub. We went to the Lord Poulet too which was great. Make sure you go to Pips Railway Cafe because their breakfast is to die for and it’s kind of quirky eating in a railway carriage! I would not hesitate to recommend this house and only wish I could move in!

  • Brilliant quiet location with a lovely countryside feel

    Charlotte2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Atherstone Cottage was amazing, quiet, clean and beautiful. We felt at home from the minute we walked through the door and had a very relaxed and enjoyable weekend stay. We particularly loved the log burner, the authentic stone floors, the original wooden doors, coupled with the modern luxurious decor. We can’t wait to come back for longer next time!

    David2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house, decorated to a high standard. In a lovely rural location. Extremely peaceful and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a special countryside getaway.

    Guy2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful property, comfortable & quiet. Wifi strength is variable. Common area is marvelous with fireplace to keep you warm. Beds are truly comfortable & firm. Location close to delights of Ilminster and supermarket convenience.

    Lesley2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Atherstone Farm Cottage was a lovely place to stay. Set in the middle of nowhere down some narrow lanes, you really felt away from it all. Facilities were great, despite the farmhouse being rather old! The low beams won 4-2 in terms of days when I hit my head, but that just added to the charm. Check-in was easy (via a key safe), and they texted to say that we were able to check in early, which was a nice touch. Nearby pubs and restaurants were very nice, with particular mention of the Lord Poulett Arms and Pip’s Railway Cafe. (Don’t trek all the way to The Pig, though. We were disappointed). All in all we had a really good time and can recommend the cottage highly.

Linhay is a lovely old barn which has been recently converted into a light, bright living space. The generous open-plan kitchen, dining, living room has a vaulted ceiling and 2 sets of french doors opening onto a patio. The property is peacefully tucked away, yet only a few minutes stroll from the heart of 'chocolate box' North Curry village with its popular pub, shop and cafe. Nestled on the Somerset Levels, Linhay makes an ideal rural retreat with walking, coastline and historic towns in reach
The bedroom has a kingsize bed and en suite shower room. There is an additional cloakroom, utility room and lobby with plenty of room for dropping outdoor gear after exploring the surrounding Somerset levels or nearby Exmoor or Quantock Hills. There is a fully-equipped kitchen, laundry room, television with freeview and on demand capability and wifi. Linhay is entirely self-contained and sits in the grounds and shares a drive with Manor Farm, our 16th century grade II* home. There is gated entry with parking for one vehicle and a patio outside for enjoying a cup of coffee or a glass of something stronger.
North Curry sits above the Somerset Levels and from Linhay you can join the East Deane Way without touching a road and walk halfway round the county. The village has a well-stocked, family-run shop and post office, a hugely popular independent pub and a much-loved community coffee shop. The church (The Cathedral of the Moors) forms a strikingly beautiful landmark from the Levels and jumping off spot for rambles. We are a short drive from the lovely ancient towns of Langport and Somerton. The south coast is less than an hour away with the north coast and its surf beaches just a little further. Exmoor and the Quantocks are easy trips with wonderful elevated walking and riding. You will notice a steady stream of cyclists through the village as the extensive network of smooth, quiet roads provide excellent road biking. The Bridgwater and Taunton Canal passes 2 miles away, with leafy walking and cycling, and even the option of stand up paddle board hire for the more intrepid! Taunton is 8 miles away with shopping, leisure, restaurant facilities as well as the county museum.
  • Linhay Barn is the perfect space to unwind and relax. The interiors were stylish and very comfortable. We had all we needed for our stay, and communication with Rowan was brilliant throughout. Would certainly stay again!

  • This really is a hidden gem! Great value and a great location, which we used as a base for a week of day trips and exploring the local countryside. The accommodation is very spacious and the open plan living space is really nice. The village itself is lovely, very peaceful, everyone says hello, and it’s so dark at night! There’s also a lot of footpaths and walks accessible directly from the main gate. We’ve already recommended this place to friends and family!

  • Impeccably clean and stylish place. Very handy for Taunton and the Somerset Lecels. Rowan and Tom were excellent hosts.

  • Lovely cottage with all amenities. It is smart and very clean with an easy check-in facility. Plenty of space for the two of us. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and completely relaxed. The pub in the village was within easy walking distance and was full of atmosphere. Lots of countryside around for walking and several National Trust properties to visit. Our Festive Afternoon Tea at The Mount Somerset Hotel, 4 miles away was gorgeous! Would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

The house is spacious and beautifully done out. I had three early starts and she gave me a little extra heat in my room. I also had a back problem and she lent me a hot water bottle. Would definitely stay again and recommend. I was really surprised at how quiet the road is despite it being in Taunton town. Parking was easy. I just bought a permit from her.

  • Fantastic stay at rose farm. The barn is so cosy, immaculately presented and the interior is fantastic. The breakfast provided was great, so much choice and susie left a few extra goodies including chocolate truffles which made the stay extra special. The location is ideal for walking and visiting local nearby pubs, we visited the bird in hand which we definitely recommend for an evening meal. We would definitely stay again. Thank you!

  • We had a lovely stay at Susie's Cider Barn. It was very clean and homely and Susie added lots of little meaningful touches such as fresh breakfast bits, a handbook with all the information you could ever need and she even dropped some chocolates and a thermos around when the power cut for a few minutes. Wi-Fi/Signal wasn't great however that was explained and it's nice to get away from screens for a while! If you're looking for a country escape then look no further!

    Xavier2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Susie was the perfect and most friendly host. The communication was super quick and excellent before and throughout our stay and she went out of her way to make us feel comfortable, even especially providing non dairy milk to cater to my lactose intolerance which I really appreciated. The barn is a lovely and cosy space with the most comfy bed ever. Would highly recommend!

  • Great place to stay. Really stylish, spacious and lots of personal touches. Susie was warm and welcoming and the communication before we arrived was excellent. The breakfast provided was a wide selection, to suit all tastes and preferences. I couldn't fault the accommodation and would love to return in the future.

    Anne2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • We visited the barn hoping for a relaxing and chilled out stay and we were not disappointed! Susie is a great host and the whole family were friendly and made us feel very comfortable. During our stay, we visited the pub across the road which was so convenient and perfectly placed. We also spent the day in Exeter which was not too far away. We were very impressed by the excellent use of space and style of the barn. It is clean and homely and a very comfortable stay. We can't wait to visit again and explore more of the lovely countryside.

This is a self-contained annex ideal for 2 people but is equipped for 4 and is joined directly to the owners property. The large living area/bedroom has a double bed (with simba mattress), sofa bed, tv & patio doors to your own small outside space. The kitchen has some cooking facilities with its own dining area. You also have your own private shower room.
Creech St Michael is set in a lovely picturesque traditional village with beautiful canal walks just across from the property as well as a local shop, pub, post office and village hall. • I love this place for its central location. Host Clayton is great on communication, clear in instructions, knowledgeable about the area and very helpful without being in your face. Parking is free and very quiet in the square. Home is beautiful decorated with some very nice touches ie lovely toiletries, towels, kettle (tea and coffee facilities), hot water bottle, hairdryer, tv and good wifi. The beds are very comfortable with lovely linen 5* rating and beats a hotel for sure. As a solo female solo traveller I feel safe and comfortable here and it is a great location for a quick walk into town. I can highly recommend staying with Clayton at his lovely, homely first class location - one of the best I have stayed in.

    Lynnette2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Convenient location, helpful host, good value for money. Clayton is a very helpful host, he offered to pick me up to and from the train station which was extremely helpful especially with the windy and rainy weather. Although it's not a long walk but this little help made a great difference for my journey as a single traveler first time in town. I have left my handkerchief in the room, he has also offered to post it back to me. His service has exceeded my expectation. I will stay at his again for my next visit.

    Valentina2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • The bedroom and ensuite were fantastic and the amenities provided were very useful. Clayton offered great communication prior to the trip with in depth instructions on everything you needed to know before the visit. The place is ideally situated a few minutes walk from town and Vivary Park.

  • We stayed here for a night with our 2 month old baby while visiting Somerset friends. It was pouring with rain so having a carport to park under was amazing. The lodge was like a home from home and had lots of cosy touches like soft blankets and supersoft towels. There was milk in the fridge and salt n pepper for our takeaway fish n chips. The bed was comfy and it was wonderful to be out in the countryside, yet close to Taunton. Recommended!

    Rachel2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Kate’s annex is lovely. Large, clean spacious rooms and a very comfortable bed. Beautiful views from the roof terrace. Great helpful touches of a cot, high chair and toys available for our little one and being able to show him all the animals was a welcome treat too. Good location for exploring the surrounding area, either coast is less than an hour away. Local pub is welcoming and does great food. Would definitely recommend staying at Kate’s.

The house also has a garden, with a protected and well-lit outdoor dining area (right outside the kitchen), and a wood-fired hot-tub in the garden. There is private parking for three cars. The house’s rural location makes it a great escape for those looking to spend some time in the countryside, with plenty of pubs to walk / cycle to and things to see and do nearby, and convenient shopping in Ilminster is not far away.
BEDROOMS There are three main bedrooms and one loft room, all with deep mattresses, 400 thread count cotton bedding, indulgent mattress toppers and indulgent fluffy bathrobes. The ground floor bedroom has a superking-sized bed that can be separated into two singles and its own wet-room shower room. This room is a lovely room for anyone, but is especially well suited to those less able to navigate stairs, although there are two internal stairs on the ground floor so access is not entirely step-free. In the two main bedrooms upstairs, the first has a superking-sized double turned leg four-poster, and a bathroom with a beautiful freestanding nickel bath (as well as walk-in shower), the second can be arranged as superking-sized double or with twin singles and has a walk-in shower only. The fourth bedroom is a twin and is accessed only through the four-poster bedroom mentioned above, with which it also shares a bathroom, and so together these two rooms are ideally suited to a family with children. LIVING AREAS The kitchen / dining room is well equipped with an induction hob, oven, and there is a large fridge freezer with ice-machine in the nearby utility / larder. The dining table can seat 10 comfortably. The house also has a washer-dryer for any laundry that can’t wait until you get home. The sitting room has a wood-burning stove set into a large stone fireplace and is equipped with a 55” flatscreen internet-connected TV with Bluetooth soundbar and a Bluetooth DAB radio sound system. There is also a little library / study area for reading – or anyone who really must work! And there is a good-sized lawn with a wood-fired hot-tub, a charcoal bbq and a teak outdoor table with chairs in a sheltered sunken patio area directly outside the kitchen.
SETTING & LOCAL AREA Orchard Cottage is situated on the private drive to Dillington House, which is 100 metres or so further along the drive. As well as being a quiet road, the drive to Dillington House is a bridleway and footpath. It leads into Dillington Park, which is a large area of parkland ideal for walks and dogs, and onto a myriad of other walking and cycling routes. Nearby there are several pubs, such as the Dinnington Docks, Lord Poulett Arms, or Five Dials. We also recommend the micro-brewery at Stocklinch – Stocklinch Ales – which is open for visitors on Friday evenings after 7pm and Sunday lunchtimes.
  • Gorgeous cottage with beautiful interiors. Make sure you leave enough time to heat the hot tub, it’s worth it!

  • What a amazing property, in a fantastic location. We went to the property to celebrate a 60th birthday and a long overdue catch up with friends. We would throughly recommend this beautiful cottage. The rooms are stunning and the whole cottage was spotlessly clean. There is everything that you could possibly want, including a hot tub! We would go back in a heartbeat.

  • Orchard Cottage is gorgeous, the perfect country getaway. Nothing bad to say about the place, would highly recommend to stay - I came with friends and there was so much space and the rooms so comfortable. The hot tub was great but we needed a thermometer as we made it too hot! Would definitely stay again, 5*.

  • Being torn as to focus on holidaying in North or South Devon we settled for the option of hiring Pikes Barn in Taunton and were delighted with how easy it made for day trips in all directions. We found the converted Barn really charming and the perfect base for all of our needs. Parking right outside, wifi, good spaces for 2 adults and two children and we didn't even need use of the pull out sofa bed. We were met by the host outside who waved us down when we were trying to locate it and who was super helpful and friendly the whole stay whenever we needed. The price was very very reasonable when compared to other similar holiday lettings. Would definately stay again

    Kevin2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Likes Barn is in a lovely quiet street, really close to Vivary Park. Our 4 year old loved the play park which is beside a really nice cafe and free tennis courts. While we were there we visited lots of national trust properties, Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole. There is a lot to see within a one hour drive and Julianne is happy to offer suggestions. Pikes Barn is cosy, excellent value for money and has everything you need for a small family. Julianne is available if needed. We needed some washing done and she had it washed and dried overnight. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend it.

  • Whether you are staying in Taunton for business or pleasure I can highly recommend staying here with Clayton. The room is well proportioned for one or two with luggage. Lots of hanging and storage space, very comfy large bed - Not too hard and Not too soft with high quality sheets and pillows too. The heating which is controlled from the room was low which is smart as it saves energy and a cooler room gives one a better sleep in that comfy bed. I could have warmed the room up but didn't need to. The bathroom is shared, on the landing, but posed no problems. There were other guests staying but there were no 'log jams' for using the bathroom. The view over the rear was pleasant, town view over the roof tops to the park in the distance and the hills further away. The location is perfect for visiting the town or local schools and businesses. Parking was also very easy. Directions and communication with Clayton was the best of any AirBnB I have come across (and I have traveled the USA and Europe on AirBnB regularly). A set of whatsapp messages gives you all the details you need....anyway Clayton was there to meet me so no issues. I will be back...thanks Clayton
