Unique and quaint cabin in a beautiful, peaceful and private setting on our farm. Open countryside views. A great place for both couples and families. Close to local attractions such as Dalby Forest, Flamingo Land, Castle Howard, Pickering Railway. A great base to explore North Yorkshire Moors.
Ideally located to enjoy the North Yorkshire moors, Deepdale Farm's cabin accommodation is situated on a horse farm in the most stunning location over looking open countryside. Peacefully positioned on the farm to enjoy your own privacy, the cabin gives you a cosy living room/bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and two masionnette single beds (please note the access to this is small and only suitable for children and small adults) where you can holiday away from home. On winter nights snuggle up and enjoy the electric log burning stove and TV with DVD player or on summer nights BBQ outside on the patio. We are just a mile away from kirkbymoorside which has everything you need - cafes - pubs - shops - take away. Just 3 miles up the road is a quaint village Hutton Le hole with a chocolate factory and folk museum and ice cream shops. Perfect for walking too. 7 miles east is Pickering which has the North Yorkshire Moors railway where you can have a delightful day out on the steam train to Whitby at the coast. Time it right and you will see the regatta or goth week! Dalby forest is just 12 miles east which is fantastic for Segway trails, mountain biking and go ape. You can spend days here. If you fancy a bit of horse riding only 3 miles east is Friars Hill Riding stables in Sinnington. For some fine dining we have the mitchellin star restaurant in Harome - The Star Inn or the Feversham Arms in Helmsley which has the fabulous vebenna Spa - well worth booking into.
We are two miles from Hutton Le hole which is a picturesque village with great local pub. We are also only 10 minutes from Pickering which has the North Yorkshire moors railway station and lots of lovely shops and walks. York is also 40 minutes drive away as is Whitby and Scarborough. There are also lots of lovely walks on our doorstep. Please see our travel guide book on here.
  • A gorgeous cabin perfect as a base to explore and hide from the world. My toddler loved the chickens and goats and I loved the little touches like finding Lea&Perrins in the cupboard!

A secluded getaway. Night life only extends to the twit twooing of the owls. Nestled into the forest with a beck trickling by. It's perfect for those wishing to log out and explore the countryside on foot. Tons of walks including a gorgeous 4 mile round walk taking in 11th-centuary Rievaulx Abbey ruins and a cup of tea at the cafe along the way. The chocolate box town of Helmsley is just five miles away with walled garden, castle ruins, shops, restaurants and amenities.
A self contained unit with a spacious bedroom, bathroom opening through French doors on to a private deck and garden at the back. A small but well equipped kitchenette with a gas hob/oven, fridge and sink shares he entrance with a dining/sitting area. The cottage is situated next door to the host, who are on hand to help. DAB radio with aux, DVD library and wifi running at typically rural speeds.
Located on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park makes our cottage ideal for exploring the local breathtaking scenery, beautiful old market towns of Helmsley and Thirsk and picturesque villages such as Rievaulx. Perfect for visiting the historic sites of Rievaulx Abbey and Helmsley Castle as well as our modest but beautiful 1100AD Church in Old Byland. The cottage is located in an utterly idyllic and secluded part of the world, really you won't believe your eyes.
  • Lovely stay surrounded by nature. Perfect for a get away from it all. Hosts very welcoming and helpful. Description of property accurate. Comfy and cosy.

  • What a fantastic place couldnt recommend enough! Peace and tranquility at its peak!!

    James2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute little place with beautiful surroundings. Lots of cute local things to do and Katy’s place is a fantastic little place to retreat to! Myself, husband and two border collies had a fantastic stay :)

    Jess2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We would thoroughly recomend staying here. It's set in a very remote, peaceful area. A beautiful brook running through the back garden, what more could you ask for. If you're looking for a relaxing break with some beautiful walks and scenery nearby, you'd struggle to find somewhere that ticks as many boxes as this does. Coupled with the fact that you have two wonderful and attentive (but not intrusive) hosts on hand in Katy and Skot. All in all, a wonderful place to visit, relax, unwind and recharge the batteries. We'll be back in the summer, when mother nature is a little less cruel lol.

    Andy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is absolutely beautiful and in a really gorgeous location. My partner and I loved sitting in the armchairs in front of the big French doors, admiring the scenery and listening to the stream. The cottage is remote enough that you can really settle into nature, but there are also plenty of shops, pubs, cafes etc nearby if desired! Katy and Skot were such warm, friendly hosts and they made us feel so welcome. Katy knows the local areas well and provided some lovely recommendations for nearby cafes / restaurants. We would 100% recommend a stay here to anyone, and really hope to come back again ourselves to experience its beauty in the summer :)

    Hannah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a gorgeous and tranquil location off the beaten track! It was so nice listening to the stream whilst falling to sleep accompanied with the odd hoot of an owl. The cottage was sparkling clean and well stocked of the essentials, it was cosy and warm even during a colder month like January. The hosts were very thoughtful and considerate and we couldn’t have asked for anything more.

    Sam2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful stay- couldn’t have asked for anything more. Cosy, comfortable and amongst wildlife. If you need a break or peaceful getaway, this place is for you.

    Lydia2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A very remote location so perfect for hiking, stargazing, and exploring the beautiful surrounding towns. We went in winter and still had a gorgeous time, we made a fire pit which warmed us up! They were lovely hosts and went out of their way to get us what we needed. They also had a very cute dog & baby :) will be going back here!

Come and stay in our small but perfectly-formed guest space! It's completely separate from the main cottage, so you have privacy and can come and go as you please. It's warm and cosy and luxurious, and the en-suite offers a wonderful shower! And breakfast is included.
Cross the rose-covered patio and take the stone steps down into this charming guest space created within an old stone barn, and discover original features including exposed timber beams.
Stonegrave is situated in the heart of Ryedale, North Yorkshire, and is an excellent base for exploring the North York Moors, the nearby market towns of Helmsley and Malton, and the Hambleton Hills to the south. Castle Howard and Rievaulx Abbey are just a short drive away. Closer to home there are wonderful walks through countryside from the door, especially if you want to include pubs or tea rooms. To the north It's a lovely mile over the hill to Nunnington with its gallery, artisan workshops and coffee shop. To the south Hovingham is about two miles, where the Cricketers Bar and Worsley Arms, village shop, bakery, and both tea rooms will serve you well. And the excellent Fairfax Arms is just three miles down the lane at Gilling East.
  • Thanks to James for having us! This is a great little Annex close by to the national parks for those with cars! Great spot to catch some sleep. There are lots of lovely (but expensive) local restaurants/pubs to try out - around 5-10 minutes drive down country lanes. Breakfast is provided in the room - cereals, teas, coffees and delicious home-made bread which can be warmed up in the mini-oven. However, other meals are not provided/no space for cooking as kitchen access isn't available. Perfect though if you're keen to check out the local spots, and feeling cosy and cottage-y. Thanks again for having us!

We live in Fadmoor, right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, between the beautiful dales of Farndale and Bransdale. Great for hiking and mountain biking, or sightseeing; the famous mediaeval city of York is about 25 miles to the South. The accommodation is an Annex to our house, with its own entrance opening on to a utility area with downstairs toilet. There are two bedrooms, a separate shower room and a living/dining area. We only rent the Annex to a single party.
We charge per bedroom, so if you only require one, you'll still have the place to yourself. The basic charge is for two guests using one bedroom. If you need the other bedroom for more guests, please add 50% to the fee. If you have an additional child, we can provide another fold up bed at a modest extra cost. You're welcome to use the facilities in the utility room which is part of the annex: sink; fridge/freezer; washing machine; tumble dryer; microwave. Tea, ground coffee, milk etc will be provided, as well as healthy cereals for a light breakfast. We can also provide a toaster / bread and jam on request. The living space comprises a large room with patio doors opening on to the gravel drive. There's a very comfortable sofa and chair at one end and a large dining table and chairs at the other. Wifi access is included, with good download speed and there is a strong 4G mobile signal. All bed linen and towels are also included and there will be soap, shower gel, shampoo etc for you to use. The shower is electric, so there is plenty of hot water available after a hard day walking or cycling! If you do need to clean of boots or mountain bikes, there's an outside tap and hose. There's ample parking on the drive for several cars. If something isn't included in the listing, please just talk to us when you arrive and we'll help as much as we can. The Annex is connected to the rest of the house on the ground floor only, via a lockable door.
If you love hiking or mountain biking, this is the place for you! The National Park boundary runs through the middle of Fadmoor and the edge of the moors is just to the North. We can help with suggestions for routes and lend you maps. Farndale is world famous for the wild daffodils which flower in the spring and people travel from all over the world to walk through the dale. The coast is also about a 45 minute drive away; the well known town of Whitby and the Yorkshire Jurassic coast are within easy reach. There is a pub / restaurant about 10 minutes walk away and two Michelin starred restaurants a short drive away, the Black Swan at Oldstead owned by the famous Banks brothers and the Star at Harome. Kirkbymoorside is a few minutes drive and has small supermarkets open 'til late 7 days a week in case you run out of gin!

Kirkbymoorside is a small market town and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England, about 25 miles north of York, midway between Pickering and Helmsley, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Kirkbymoorside is a treasure trove for art and antique-hunters: home to the one of Yorkshire’s quirkiest, friendliest art galleries, Bils & Rye, and also the fortnightly Ryedale Auctions, attracting collectors from across the world. Nearby is the open studio of international glass artists, Gillies Jones, and the town’s pride and joy is its award-winning 200 year-old Brass Band, a star at local events. The town’s top attraction is Ryedale Folk Museum, with its historic ‘village’ of homes, gardens, workshops and stores – and even a witch’s hovel - providing a unique glimpse into our rural past from the Iron Age to the 1960s. There’s also a museum, animals, orchards, vintage vehicles, a lively programme of events, and nearby workshops including Greenwood Crafts, and the Chocolate Factory. Kirbymoorside’s market square boasts award-winning, independent shops, and a 760-year-old weekly market that’s still the lifeblood of its community, a friendly place to catch the gossip. It’s also the starting point for one of the most popular and gruelling races in the Yorkshire calendar, the Kirkbymoorside 10k.
  • Super stylish place for a great price! The house is perfectly situated in the north York moors, and is fully equipped. All beds and bathrooms were clean, with fresh comfortable bedding and mattresses. Fittings, fixtures and decor are lovely and super fresh, especially considering it’s a pet friendly place. Barry was very responsive on messages and allowed us an early check in and late check out. Very Impressed!

Wonderful views and miles of countryside and woodland, this makes a perfect place to stay for outdoor lovers.

There are great woodland trails for long walks before returning back to these cosy cottages just 6 miles from the market town of Pickering. Here you’ll find plenty of bars, restaurants and shops as well as the popular market day held every Monday. Pickering is also home to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway where you can catch the steam train to Whitby calling off at Goathland, the fictional village of Aidensfield in the popular TV programme ’Heartbeat’. The Flamingo Land theme park is close to Pickering and is a great day for the children with exhilarating rides and a fantastic zoo. There is a local pub within a mile from the cottages that serves good local produce and is famous for its home brewed beer which is brewed on site. Try out the brewery tour during your stay.

A guest suite with double bed with en-suite. Ideal location for either a holiday or if working away from home as a quiet retreat. By car Malton and Pickering are 15 mins, York 40mins North Yorkshire moors 20 mins, Castle Howard 7 mins as well as all the other attractions such as the Howardian Hills and woodland walks. Ideal for walkers! Coast approx 45mins. Utility room with hob if needed. Variety of herbal teas and fresh coffee supplied.
Rye View Cottage is a peaceful rural retreat. The bedroom and en suite available to guests are not in the main part of the house so although family members may use the utility room and study area below we try not to when somebody is staying. We are ideally situated for visiting the City of York, the North Yorkshire moors and the east coast. A good supply of literature is available for guests for both good and bad weather! Homemade sourdough is given at breakfast and if required these can be bought if ordered in advance. A travel cot and stairgate are available if needed. Butterwick is a small village made up of eleven houses with no through road therefore it has a charm and peace about it that is often difficult to find in today's busy world. The birdsong is particularly outstanding.
Butterwick is a small village (classed as a village as it has a church), only eleven houses and a no through road which makes it extremely peaceful! A world away from the hussle and bussle of towns and cities! The community is very friendly and often there are 'village events' open to all. David and myself have lived here for approximately ten/eleven years. Nearby is the food capital of the north (Malton) the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, Castle Howard and the Howardian Hills.
  • Lovely cosy annexe, attached to owners home but with separate parking and access, in quiet rural location. Helen was a really friendly and helpful host, sharing advice on places to eat out and to explore; and accommodation was everything it promised to be, and more. After a very comfortable night, we savoured the selection of home made breads that were provided as a breakfast treat. Would happily stay again next time we are in this area.

Beautiful 19th century stone cottage in Oswaldkirk with excellent views over the Howardian Hills. This holiday cottage offers a cosy home away from home at any time during the year. Situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors National Park, there is excellent walking right from the doorstep. All welcome, including children and one dog.
Cosy cottage with everything you need for a self catering holiday. Master bedroom with double bed and a small bedroom with a cabin style bed which is slightly narrower and shorter than a standard double bed. Comfortable lounge with a multi fuel burner and dining area. Fully equipped kitchen with utility area. Shower room with shower cubicle. Patio area has a table and seating for 4 with beautiful views over the Howardian Hills. Reserved off street parking in a small private car park.
Oswaldkirk is a small village just a few miles from Ampleforth and Helmsley. Helmsley is a lovely market town with a good choice of shops, pubs and restaurants. There are lots of lovely places to visit including York and Whitby. Fresh eggs can be collected from a few doors down. Just collect your eggs and leave the money in the honesty box.
  • Beautiful cottage in the Yorkshire countryside, close to many places to visit and discover on foot or by bicycle. Helmsley with its wonderful park, York with its typical architecture, Howard Castle, Whitby on the sea and Scarborough. The cottage is ideal for 3 or 4 people, warm (we were at Christmas for a week!) And collected but with everything you need and in any case bigger than what we expected. It is very accurate in detail and very clean. There was a welcome gift (red and white wine, tea and coffee, milk in the fridge and dry pastries) very appreciated. We didn't see Karen, but she was very kind and quickly replied to the messages.

Attractions and nearby amenities The North York Moors is a vast expanse of heather moorland, with rivers flowing through the upland all the way to the North Sea, cutting out verdant green dales. This is a walker’s paradise, and mountain biking, horse riding and even open-air swimming are all on the menu. One of the best ways to see the North York Moors is by train. Take the heritage North Yorkshire Moors Railway to travel through 24 miles of this unique landscape and get to experience what it was like to travel by steam. The railway calls at the town of Pickering, where you’ll find a medieval castle, a museum and a stunning Saxon church, as well as contemporary boutiques and independent eateries. Pickering is a vibrant destination that is well-known as a hub for the performing arts, with three theatres in the town. If you’re a fan of Dracula or all things Gothic, a trip to Whitby is a must. This is where the fictional Count first came ashore, but there are plenty of other reasons to come here too. With narrow, picturesque streets, a busy harbour and superb fish ‘n’ chips, you could make a day of it here. The Yorkshire coastline has some big-hitting tourist attractions like Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. But just about any destination on this beautiful coastline is worth a visit. The beaches are long, golden and much less crowded than some further south, and the swell coming from the North Sea creates good conditions for surfers. Bright beach huts, donkey rides, fish and chips and splendid Victorian architecture, Scarborough ticks all the boxes for a superb day out at the seaside. Finally, if you’d like to enjoy some retail therapy, see some magnificent architecture or find out what it was like to be invaded by Vikings, don’t miss a visit to York. The Minster cathedral is stunning, the Jorvik Viking museum is an all-immersive experience, and there always seems to be a festival going on. Once part of a thatched animal barn, Number 65 has been reconfigured and modernised over the centuries and now is one of three cottages. The most recent renovations have only just been completed and have created a retreat that oozes character but provides every modern convenience. Downstairs is a modern country cottage style kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and fridge-freezer. This merges into a spacious social area with ample seating for five, exposed beams, log burner and a wide-screen free-view TV. French doors in the kitchen open out to a secluded, south facing garden and ample outside seating and BBQ are provided. A spacious and separate dining room completes the downstairs accommodation. • Andrew and Ella's place was very nice, surrounded by the Yorkshire countryside. It was great to have 3 toilets and the kitchen came with anything you need to make a meal. Oswaldkirk does not have much to offer, but there are very nice places all around, in particular if you like countryside walks.

  • I cannot express how delightful this accommodation is. It's in a beautiful part of the countryside with views from the master bedroom looking across the fields - particularly idyllic at this time of year. The Air BNB was sparklingly clean with stacks of space for all of us. A wonderful touch was the wood burner in the lounge - it came fully stocked with everything you need to light a fire, and was a real welcome treat on our arrival back from the local pub. Ella was incredibly fast at responding to any queries we had and the attention to detail really has made this the best Air BNB experience any of us have had. I couldn't recommend this accommodation enough. Thanks for everything :) x

  • Although we were only sleeping and eating in the cottage as up here working in Crayke installing horse stables and a horse walker we loved it here so we wanted to stay here again. Lovely cottage a home away from home. See you next year

    Lee2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the cottage although when we were not working. Lovely scenery comfortable beds and a cosy wood burner for the chilly nights. Would highly recommend

  • Hall Farm Cottage is a rare find. It was not just clean, it felt as if we could be first guests to stay with Andrew and Ella. The bathrooms, bedrooms, and kitchen were pristine. It's clear, however, that Andrew and Ella are experienced hosts. They were communicative and responsive to any questions we had. Hall Farm Cottage's furnishings made it the perfect place to prepare for and relax from our day hiking on the Cleveland Way. We were aware of the lack of places to eat in Oswaldkirk, and had gone grocery shopping before arriving. The small kitchen was fine for preparing breakfast and snacks. The fridge was large enough to keep our limited amount of food and our drinks nicely chilled. The beds and bedrooms were quite comfortable. The ceiling in the loft bedroom slopes quite a bit, and my six foot friend bumped her head more than once before she asked to switch with me as I'm the shortest member of our group. The views from the livingroom and front bedroom are stunning. Seating on the back patio allowed us to enjoy morning tea while watching the resident horses. Our schedule put us back on the road after two nights, but our stay was so wonderful that we found it a hard place to leave.

    Ellen2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely house with amazing views. Great hosts and very clean, specious rooms. Would highly recommend it to everyone.

    Georgia2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful find, exceeded our expectations from the moment we walked in, beautifully appointed throughout, Andrew & Ella were so attentive, little touches on arrival were so welcoming after a long journey, the only criticism if there is one? is the weak signal on the TV especially of an evening

Lovely, self-contained mini-studio apartment in a former railway station in Gilling East, on the edge of the North York Moors. Comfy double bed with TV, wifi and en-suite. Your own entrance and kitchenette. Fantastic walks and cycle rides straight from the door as well as lots of attractions further afield.
Platform 1 is a double bedroom, complete with small sitting corner, en-suite shower room and kitchenette. There's a smart TV, superfast broadfast as well as hanging space for your clothes. The shower room has an easy-to-use electric shower and supplies such as hand soap, shampoo, tissues and cotton wool balls as well as plenty of loo roll. The kitchenette has a combi-microwave oven, fridge, sink, kettle and toaster. You'll get supplies to start you off - tea, coffee, milk and biscuits - and there's a 'breakfast' bar where two people can eatcomfortably side by side. Platform 1 also has its own seating area outside on the railway platform. It's a lovely place to sit out and has a beautiful view up towards Oswaldkirk.
Gilling itself: The lovely thing about Platform 1 at Gilling Station is that you can walk straight from the door into the most beautiful countryside. There are lots of woods, lakes and streams. It's a popular spot for walkers, mountain bikers and road bikers too. Our favourite walk at the moment is straight over the road and up the valley to the Anthony Gormley statue. It has a wonderful view of the Ampleforth Valley and is a very special place. Within three/five miles: Hovingham tea rooms and bakery are a must. Their cakes are fantastic and it's set by a little stream and ford. It's a nice bike ride away. Ampleforth Abbey is worth a visit. The tea rooms in particular are very nice. Within ten/15 miles Helmsley's great. It has super food shops and cafes and Friday's market is very good. Obviously there's the castle too and Duncombe Park. In summer it has an outdoor swimming pool which we like very much. The walk from Helmsley to Rievaulx is really worth doing but there's many other lovely walks too. Nunnington Hall - Is so worth a visit. It's a stunning National Trust building and has lovely gardens too. Castle Howard - Is just stunning. The house is wonderful as are the grounds and the garden. Goes without saying that it has lovely tea rooms and a very nice garden centre. Easingwold - Easingwold is just a very nice market place and very much worth stopping in on your way to York. Tea Hees is a very nice coffee shop as is the Curious Table. York is 30 minutes to the outskirts. Fantastic place to visit at any time of year. Whitby and the Yorkshire coast are popular destination for our guests. There are so many spots to recommend but our favourites have to be Sandsend, Staithes and Runswick Bay.
  • Had a lovely weekend break here, perfect little spot for a few days in the country. Really speedy responses & very helpful & friendly. Thank you!

    Luana2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’ place is the perfect base for visiting this area. So many wonderful things to do in close proximity, including wonderful walking straight from the door. All the comforts you need for your stay including thoughtful touches like milk, tea, coffee, biscuits for your arrival and luxury travel size shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in the bathroom. Gorgeous view from the bedroom window and really interesting reading about the history of the station. Would highly recommend the afternoon tea at Ampleforth Abbey tea rooms - food plentiful and delicious and the free tea refills were much appreciated. Castle Howard is fabulous but I think Rievaulx Abbey was definitely our top destination. The walk from Hemsley is enjoyable through fields and woodland and the abbey itself is breathtakingly huge and architecturally stunning against the backdrop of this tiny village, Rievaulx, complete with a chocolate box thatched roof cottage. We just scratched the surface of this wonderful area so will most definitely be contacting Sarah in the future when we return.

    Josephine2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a very comfortable and relaxing stay, visiting family in the area. Convenient for travelling to York and Helmsley and the village of Gilling is lovely. The space is cosy and the bed is very comfortable. We stay regularly and will certainly come back again.

  • Sarah’s place is in a great and lovely location, close to Hemsley and walking routes. It is a great building (a railway station). The room itself has good facilities, allowing us to make a cooked breakfast and is lovely and clean. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend. Thank you Sarah!
