Places to stay in Eaton Socon
Period Georgian home which can accommodate 20+ guests (max so far, 32!): roaring fires, kitchen range, large living rooms, third-acre garden, lawn tennis, croquet, swimming pool, piano, cinema room. Easy walk to a huge variety of restaurants, pubs, park, shops; five minute walk to town centre, beautiful embankment and river walks beyond; five mins walk to bus station; ten to railway station with easy access to London. 45 min drive to Cambridge, 20 to Milton Keynes shopping centre.
Please note that this is our family home, not an hotel: see Guest Interaction for more information. (You also might want to try our handy questionnaire in the Other Things to Note section, to see whether we are a match for each other.) Built in 1825, our quintessential blue-plaque Georgian English town house once housed the largest observatory in England. With its own swimming pool, croquet-and-tennis lawn and home cinema (with free Netflix) it is large enough for several families to stay in together. We have numerous bedrooms and a third of an acre garden as if we were miles into peaceful countryside, and yet it is extremely convenient for the town centre (five minutes' walk) and river, for London (37 minutes by train) and Cambridge (45 by car or just over an hour by very convenient and comfortable bus). Those interested in astronomy will be intrigued to learn that the house was built and first lived in by Admiral Willaim Smythe, after whom a sea on the moon is named, who built the observatory after which the house is named, now moved to the nearby Bedford School. It is a house full of history and we keep it as true to its original as is compatible with the comforts of modern living. Sometimes (depending on demand and season) it is possible for us to give you a discount on the listed rate, so feel free to ask. (But before you book, please! Discounts are not available retrospectively.)
Bedford is a pleasant town on a river, with all essentials a few minutes' walk from our house: plenty of well-equipped shops, a lovely river with a pleasant embankment to walk along, numerous good pubs and restaurants of all ethnicities and lovely English villages and countryside a few minutes' drive away. Bedford's most famous inhabitant was John Bunyan and there is a (free and very good) Bunyan museum a few minutes' walk from the house, suitable for children and small enough to exhaust in an hour. There is also a castle (though I haven't yet looked around it); a Marina; a local kiln where you can decorate your own pottery; a choice of different styles of church on a Sunday morning and a mosque very nearby too. London is a mere 37 minutes by train, Cambridge even nearer, and should you be tempted (I wouldn't!) the thriving purpose-built shopping centre of Milton Keynes more accessible still. You are of course welcome to arrange for a supermarket delivery to arrive at the beginning of your stay. Please also note, if you forget anything, that there is an excellent local Sainsbury's at the top of the Crescent, 30 seconds' walk away, for instance with a superb bakery for your fresh breakfast croissants, &c.
  • Anne and Shaun's home is so lovely, and absolutely perfect for a big group! They were really quick to respond and super flexible and easy going about any requests which made the whole weekend really straightforward. When we arrived they had generously put some champagne in the fridge and despite dealing with their own family emergency they were the perfect hosts, making sure we had everything we needed and that we were happy. I can't recommend them or their lovely home highly enough!

  • Stunning house and simply the best hosts you'll ever meet. This is a family home which they are generous enough to share with people, it's quirky and beautiful. Reminded us of Jane Austin with the grand living room with piano and harp, yet it has the homeliness and comfort that reminded us of Harry Potter's Weasley's house as the bedrooms have unique arrangements and lots of uniqueness. A true delight to have stayed. Thank you so much for all your help and amazing hospitality.

  • The world needs more people like Anne !!! We had arranged a really special suprise birthday weekend for my husbands 40th months in advice at another property. Much to our shock they cancelled on us the day before due to unforeseen circumstances. I was desperately trying to salvage this weekend, I’d spent a lot of money and out so much effort into making it really special for him. Anne came to our rescue like an angel. She was incredibly quick to respond to my panicked emails, so so kind and understanding sending such personal messages and willing to help at the 11th hour. I feel like I owe so much to Anne, wanting you accommodate me and my family at such short notice. At the very last minute we had to cancel Anne due to more unforeseen circumstances on my part (you can’t write it) She was so gracious and understanding even though we told her we were coming and then weren’t. Her house is absolutely beautiful, I really hope we can come and enjoy it one day and say in person a huge Thankyou to this very very special person.

  • We used Anne’s home as a base for my best-friend’s hen do and it was incredible. Anne was an amazingly accommodating host! We used their private chef and the food was amazing. The dog and cats in the house added to the experience and they were so much fun to play with and Horacio (the dog) was the most gentle dog ever! We would absolutely look to come back if we ever need a house this big again!

  • We really enjoyed our time at Observatory House - such a charming place with such character, such a warm and friendly family, such lovely pets, and such an accommodating approach. It was a lovely place for a relaxing and fun hen do (complete with games, our own dinner, and even the ability to screen the rugby world cup in the morning), and all 20 hens had a wonderful time. Thank you so much!

  • This is a really different property of the type that AirB&B was originally designed to feature, before the more commercial landlords came in. Staying here would not necessarily be for everyone. This is a family home and as such is well lived in and it does feels as such. The layout provides plenty of single beds which was ideal for our purpose (a group working week). With the capacity to sleep 18+, the building is large and comes with a whole range of features and notable add on (like a full grand piano, harp, "living" conservatory and 3 cats). As a group we enjoyed our stay here and got lots of work done. One great feature also was the range of local eateries close by, both for take away and evening meals. Ideal when trying to work rather than cook.

  • Fabulous property! :)

  • Anne’s home is a lovely, central family home with lots of winding passages and nooks and crannies. The main dining room/conservatory space is beautiful and very atmospheric (we were having a murder mystery party) and the kitchen was definitely the heart of the home. Pros: gorgeous animals (great dane, cats, kitten), lovely piano and lots of character. Be aware: not a huge number of bathrooms if you are a large group (we were 25) and the family may be in, plus need to quieten down after 11pm. Anne and her family are very friendly and welcoming. We had a fantastic time.

A tiny, quaint thatched building in the owner's front garden, offering complete privacy for two people with en-suite shower and toilet, TV microwave and free Wifi access. Located in the quintessentially English village of Elsworth just 8 miles from Cambridge.
The thatched cottage is situated in our front garden but fenced off from the main garden and house. It is a small thatched building with two single beds and the photos show all of the space. If you have a large suitcase this will need to be left upright or squeezed under the bed. It is full of character complete with exposed beams and just perfect for a weekend get away. We are in a quiet street within the heart of the village and set back from the road. Access to the house is via a footbridge across a brook. Parking is quite limited as this is an old area of the village and it is the access route for a farm at the other end of the road. You should be able to park in the layby on the left and opposite the footbridge. This is just after the bend to the left in the road. If you have trouble when you arrive, just call (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) which is more reliable and we can help you. Please also note that there is no 22 Brook Street so we are between no 20 and the orange thatched cottage.
Elsworth is a lovely English village with an 11th century church, two pubs-one of them thatched-and a community run shop. The Poacher is just around the corner and if you would like to book for dinner then you can ring 01964 268167 The cottage itself, like our house, was reportedly built in the late 17th century and used to be a tailor's shop.

  • Can’t say enough good things about Gill and her lovely place. It was a true delight to stay in and Gill made us feel so very welcome. I would recommend her place to anyone.

  • Apartment exactly as described, hosts extremely helpful, close to local amenities, would definitely recommend 😀

    Julie2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Gill's! The place was spotless, and comfortable. I was here for work so didn't have much chance to explore, however I went for a run in the evening and it seemed a lovely area and I came across a few shops nearby which is really helpful! Gill's attention to detail was amazing; fresh fruit, milk, tea, coffee, cereals etc. Gill was ever so helpful and informative prior to my arrival. If I'm ever working in Bedford again I shall definitely be returning!

Our unusual timber house is set in a quiet wooded estate, a short distance from Huntingdon, next to Grafham Water nature reserve with its excellent walks, cycling paths, sailing, birdwatching and fishing. Please send me a message before requesting to book, as the house is also advertised elsewhere and may no longer be available. Many thanks.
The two story house is one of twenty modern wooden cabins set within trees and landscaping on a private estate near the village of Grafham, next to Grafham Water. The house has one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and another single bed on the open landing. The main living space is on the ground-floor: an open-plan sitting room, kitchen and dining room, with south-facing glass doors that open out onto a large raised verandah. The sunny main bedroom is on the first floor and has a double bed with a memory foam mattress. The second bedroom is on the ground floor and has two single beds with pocket sprung mattresses that can be clipped together to make a super-king. The additional sleeping area on the open landing also has a single bed with a pocket sprung mattress. The kitchen has an electric cooker with two ovens, a touch control ceramic hob, a microwave and fridge with freezer compartment. The bathroom has a generous tub, a power shower with unlimited hot water, a beautiful cork floor, heated towel rail and washer/dryer. There are wall-mounted electric heaters throughout the house. The stairs are fairly narrow, so not suitable for the less mobile.
  • Cozy warm and comfortable + very quiet enjoyable lodge .

    Jamie2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Really beautiful, cosy and clean cabin. Stayed for the weekend and it was absolutely perfect. Double bed was really comfy and the overall cabin was so nice.

    Demi2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great little wooden cabin. We were a group of 2 couples and 1 baby and it was perfect for what we needed. Zoë was really helpful and the cabin had everything we needed.

    Joseph2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very enjoyable stay. The property was exactly as described and in a lovely location.

    James2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Zoe’s and we thought the pictures didn’t do it justice! The local area is wonderful, especially if you’re quite outdoorsy. There were only the two of us so the space was wonderful, but maybe if there were more it may be a little small - but perfect for us! We would thoroughly recommend.

    Mads2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve had the best time at Zoë’s! Will definitely come back at some point.

    Adrien2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Zoe's place is a nice getaway spot with great access to Grafham Water. The accommodation was spacious for two and had everything you could want. We hope to be back.

'The Pippins' is a four bedroom B&B sleeping up to nine people, with a large pretty garden, indoor pool, and views of fields and the green. It is peaceful and rural and yet only 45-60mins to King's Cross, London. Zuzana's cooking is sensational too.
Pippins is a great base for relaxing with its pool and gardens, especially after exploring London, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire... The house and all rooms are comfy and spacious and make an excellent venue for a family house party. There is a charge for the guest (no for guests up to 9 who stays overnight) staying a day time 15.-/person for using the facilities. The Long Room with its piano can seat up to max. 20 people to dinner, or be a huge playroom for the children. It opens to the garden with its trees and shrubs and lawn. The disability suite on the ground floor has a kitchenette as well as a wet room shower en-suite. The real bed folds into the wall, creating an additional reception room with French doors to the garden. Upstair has three bedrooms with a shared family bathroom. There is a further shower bathroom downstairs by the pool, and an additional separate toilet. I your host, Zuzana, live at the house and pride myself on my lovely clean house and marvellous breakfasts. For the week days there is continental breakfast. Other meals are available on request which are billed separately.
This is rural England with the green, a working farm opposite Pippins, good pubs, pleasant walks, a lovely old church at Northill, Mayday celebrations at Ickwell, Shuttleworth planes and car colection, Swiss garden and very easy access to London by train (31-50 mins) Cambridge by car(45 mins), Oxford (1hour) and other places of interest.
  • Beautiful house, great amenities and lovely host

  • Zuzana's place is absolutely great if you're looking for a day to relax. Zuzana herself is also a great host, always on hand to make sure you're OK and makes a great breakfast. We were a party of 7 and had a comfortable stay.

    James2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend the house. We hired it for my sisters hen and it was so lovely. Spacious and the pool area is fab.

    Jennifer2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Zuzana was the perfect host and the house itself was just as lovely as imagined. Spacious, clean with really wonderful amenities and of course the amazing pool, hot tub and sauna. Only wish we'd been able to stay the night. Fantastic house for a large family gathering. Lovely warm cooked breakfast is such a nice touch too. Thank you for having us!

    Jasmine2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Zuzana was a great host. Her full English breakfast was excellent. We stayed over the Christmas break with our 3 kids who loved the pool and hot tub. We had family over for Christmas dinner - it was the perfect venue for entertaining. A lovely property situated in outstanding countryside. I would not hesitate to recommend.

    Jo2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Zuzana's place was a really great place where we have celebrated my husband's birthday! Zuzana met us in person and guided around the house and explained on what and how to do. We knew some details in advance and requested some additional information about the BBQ and sauna... The amenities were incredible - really nice pool, sauna and hot tub to have a proper spa experience. It is amazing to have a such different experience to what we had before on Airbnb and great idea to have escape from a city life. We can't wait to repeat our vacation once again some time in the future and looking forward to meet this lovely place and people again!

    Gyuzel2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Zuzana's house is incredible and we all had a wonderful time. The house is big and sparkling clean, the beds are super comfortable and the pool and hot tub were perfect, the right size and temperature. Zuzana is a very nice host, she Made us feel welcome and she cooked an awesome breakfast in the morning. We'll definitely be back!

    Jessica2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our short stay. It was perfectly located for the City and other local attractions. The barn was warm, well-presented and really well equipped. The free WiFi and parking made our lives easier and the hot tub was an enticing bonus, although we didn't brave it in the mid-January winds! Overall my husband and I and our two boys really enjoyed ourselves and we'd love to stay again.

    Sinead2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful 3 days here! Thoroughly enjoyed the available hot tub and fire pit, the Lily barn was a very clean and tidy accommodation. Will definitely be visiting again as it was a pleasant experience!

  • A perfect stay in a quiet location. Easy to find (driving in the dark on country roads and still found it no issue!) A little hiccup on check-in but was quickly solved. Powerful shower, lovely communal area with plenty of supplies for the fire pit and hot tub, overall a really nice stay and would definitely visit again!

  • We booked this property for our regional team meeting and it absolutely did not disappoint. The barns are beautiful inside and really well equipped. There is plenty of parking and a fantastic outdoor space. Incredible value for money and we will definitely be returning.

  • The most beautiful group accommodation you’ll find. Such a perfect venue for a large group - we had a fantastic time and would thoroughly recommend Cathy as a host too!

    Juliet2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great space for a team retreat. 20 mins out from Cambridge train station and local restaurants.

    Corina2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The barns were exactly as described. A great location for our family get together with everybody being able to have their own space as well as coming together for evening entertainment. We used Lily Barn for our big space and entertained 21 of us here for a sit down meal. Pre-dinner we all gathered in Alice; again, plenty of space for everybody. There are no toilet facilities in the Shepherd's Hut - so whoever's staying there needs to be friendly with those in Lily! We also used DineIndulge for our catering on Saturday night and they were really good. Communication all good throughout the whole booking process.

  • This really is a lovely spot to get away from it all and relax. The accommodation is well thought out. Highly recommend!

  • A beautiful little space equipped with everything you could need. We were sad the weather wasn’t a bit better so we could sit in the lovely outdoor space, but there is plenty of room inside. We especially liked the separate living and kitchen areas, which meant that my partner and I could close the door and get on with work without disturbing each other. The bed is incredibly comfy, and the bathrooms are spotlessly clean. There is a lovely little enclosed outer patio area, and fields further out for exercising in. Very quiet and calm, set away from everything but within reach of St Neots for deliveries and close to a large Tesco which has plenty of stock. Sharon was the perfect hostess and was a total saviour in a very stressful time.

    Katherine2020-03-27T00:00:00Z

  • We had an amazing time staying in Trinity. The lodge has been furnished to a really high standard. Such lovely little touches like fizz on arrival, wine fridge, underfloor heating and board games. The beds were so comfortable. The views were incredible, perfect for sitting in the hot tub with a glass of fizz. We went to Rowney Warren forest for a lovely walk located about 20 mins away. We visited the Duncombe Arms 5 mins away and had a great lunch. We will definitely be returning.

    Dale2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • We travelled as two couples looking to relax for the weekend. Cambridgeshire Lakes exceeded expectations - the cabin was beautiful and a lot of hours were spent in the hot tub. We had lovely arrival gifts waiting for us which were much appreciated and the hosts communication was so helpful. They left a leaflet regarding a local gift fair as well as emailing information about the local fireworks display, we attended both and really enjoyed. Weekend couldn’t have been more perfect! We’ll be back!!

  • This was a superb host. An amazing room which blew m expectations. Definitely topped the list and a must stay!!

  • Amanda is a brilliant host + the space is so lovely + cosy, definitely would recommend staying here!

    Joe2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a lovely place, this was my second time here. It is pretty much perfect with everything you might need - having stayed in a few places locally I can confirm that the value for money here is second to none and way beyond even the closest rivals - this is genuinely a space that is big enough for two people - not something that can usually be said. Amanda would be absolutely justified in charging much more than she currently does.

    Tim2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We can’t rate this place highly enough - it was clean, well-equipped and very comfortable. The thoughtful touches (especially the milk and fresh eggs!) were hugely appreciated. Amanda has thought of absolutely everything and we can’t fault our stay. We have recommended to others already.

    Harriet2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • It's a really lovely place. Well thought out, great quality furnishings and facilities. I hope to return.

    Lisa2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely love this gorgeous place. For once the pictures don't do it justice. Everything is very new and super clean. The kitchen is well equipped and there were fresh eggs, milk, bread, butter, tea, coffee, jam, marmalade and chocolates waiting for me when I arrived - perfect after waking at 4am, driving 3 hours and then working until 7pm. The place was easy to find even in the dark - not something that usually happens. Even the key box was easy - again not always a given. The bed is very comfortable and I slept very well each night. The tv is a proper tv, big and easy to work - just like you have in your own home probably - again not an Airbnb standard. The shower worked fine and the bathroom wasn't cramped at all. There are lovely pubs close by, I went to the one that was a short drive away and the food was excellent. Will definitely be staying again.

    Tim2020-03-04T00:00:00Z

This ground floor studio apartment is based in a converted garage/barn. This is situated in the grounds of a three acre smallholding, overlooking the field with sheep grazing, this accommodation will give you a peaceful break in the countryside, whether you are taking a break, seeking accommodation for visiting relatives or on business. The apartment has its own discreet entrance but can be used together with the first floor apartment for a family of four as there is an inter-connecting door.
The apartment has a shower room and kitchen area complete with fridge, washing machine, table top oven/grill, kettle and toaster. The 3' zip link beds can be made up as 2 singles or as a super king. You just need to advise prior to arrival. A welcome pack of basic food items is provided on your arrival. There is a gas BBQ for use by guests and you are welcome to wander the large garden.
My smallholding is just one of a whole road of identical holdings which, at one time, form part of the Land Settlement Association, set up in the 1930s as market gardens . Whilst they were at one time identical they are now all slightly different, many with stables and horses . If you are a golfer, there are two courses within a few miles which are open to the public or for something more leisurely there is the Y spa at Wyboston Lakes. In nearby Eaton Socon there are two supermarkets, Aldi and Lidl, also restaurants.
  • I was here for a month long stay between moving house. The space was absolutely perfect - spacious, clean, bright and airy. I’d definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting the area, and Anne was an amazing thoughtful host.

  • Karen’s place is a cosy gem of a place, one that we would definitely return to. The sun was setting just out of the window of the barn when we arrived and it was just bliss! Perfect for a peaceful relaxing getaway. Super comfy bed and beautifully decorated throughout. Karen was kind and very quick to help when the WiFi didn’t work-soon had it fixed within 5 mins. We were made to feel very welcome, they also left wine and snacks for our stay which was a lovely surprise. Highly recommended!

  • I had a wonderful 5-day stay for work at Karen's converted barn. Karen was communicative and left me some greatly appreciated snacks on arrival. The barn is cosy and well-equipped, including a table where you can eat dinner and/or work if you're in the area for business. There is easy access to the A1 but it's very quiet. The local tips provided were spot-on and the pub at the end of the road does great Italian food. I also took a tip from an earlier review - if you walk out to the end of the country lane, you can follow a public footpath along the river. Great for a run.

Situated in the historic, quiet and restful village of Buckden, Cambridgshire. There is a brief stroll to the three pubs on the High Street for you to eat and unwind, after you've arrived. Easy striking distance of Cambridge, Peterborough and Bedford for business and Burghley House/Horse Trials, Duxford Imperial War Museum, National Trust properties and a 6-minute drive from Grafham Water Sailing Club for pleasure. All backgrounds welcome - Smart TV, fast WiFi and air conditioning.
The studio is self-contained, spacious & welcoming. It is fully air conditioned, has super fast broadband, Smart TV and has its own entrance that is separate from the main house. The room has memory foam mattresses and can be configured in either twin or super king configuration. It also has a small kitchen area with double sink, microwave and refrigerator.
Buckden is a heritage village on the Great North Road and has a number of amenities including pubs, two small supermarkets, a Chinese takeaway, one of the biggest dress shops in the country and Buckden Towers. Buckden Towers, originally known as Buckden Palace, was an important residence belonging to the powerful Bishops of Lincoln. The first site at Buckden would have been built of wood. Around 1225 Bishop Hugh de Wells built a new house of stone. Today the Towers are a lovely Elizabethan complex of buildings that makes a wonderful sight next to the parish church next door.

  • Eileen’s place is lovely, feels very homely and had everything we needed for a perfect weekend away. Eileen’s communication both before, during and after our stay was spot on and her home stocked with lovely touches such as milk, juice and other breakfast items. We loved sitting in the quirky garden (the action men are a brilliant touch!) especially on Saturday afternoon when it was bathed in glorious sunshine. Bath was great for a relaxing soak and the bed was super comfy...I can’t recall sleeping so well! Eileen’s place is close to all local amenities and she had left us details of where to go and what to see in the local area. AirBnB hosting does not get better than this and to top it off it was superb value for money. We will definitely look to return for a repeat stay when we are in the area. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality, Eileen.

  • Absolutely outstanding service and hospitality. Graham and Julia provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the minute you step foot on the grounds. The room was well prepared and tidy when I got in, and water never failed to be hot. Graham responds to every need of yours almost instantly- and I dont think there is one request I have had, that hasn't been met with a solution. The surroundings are idyllic, quiet and simply beautiful really. Perfect for a peaceful getaway. The only criticism I would have is that the internet speed has been a bit frustrating, although in normal circumstances I dont see why that would be such an issue if you want a getaway to the countryside. (Also the wifi issue was met with a solution too! I was allowed to use their wifi dongle temporarily to get some online work done). Honestly during such difficult times I dont think I could have chose a better place to stay.

  • A wonderful place to stay and very convenient for Bedford and the surrounding area. The room is a good size and very clean, it's a lovely place to stay. Mark is an excellent host and a lovely person, very friendly and chatty, but he knows how to respect his guests privacy and leave you alone if you've had a hard day and want a quiet night. The bathroom is quite big with a good shower and a towel is provided. The house is in a nice area on a new development and is situated on a quiet road. Although there is no parking at the property, the road outside is wide and quiet and I never had any problems parking. There's also a Tesco store, fish'n'chip shop and a pharmacy 5 minutes walk away as well as frequent buses to Bedford and Hitchin. For the price you really can't beat it!

  • Mark is wonderful, very friendly and a great host. Room is a good size and everything is very clean. Nice bathroom with a good shower. No on-site parking but the house is on a quiet street which is nice and wide and I've not had any difficulty parking very close, even when I've come back late. There's a small Tesco and a fish & chip shop 5 minutes walk away, both open late. And there are regular buses to Bedford and Hitchin.

NOW WITH BEAUTIFUL WOOD BURNING HOT TUB. Our beautiful boutique Cambridgeshire retreat is perfect for groups, holiday makers and business travellers alike. Although this listing is for 4 people, we can sleep 24+; so please get in touch if you're looking for a peaceful country pad at which to relax, work or celebrate. Although our barns are rural, they are only a 20 minute drive from historic Cambridge, so provide a great base from which to explore this great city.
Clopton Courtyard is set in the midst of the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside. The six barns have been built with an eco conscience, with timber frame structures and recycled building materials. They are also fuelled by a biomass boiler using renewable energy (which keeps the underfloor heating toasty warm). Each main barn has its own unique name, character and style, with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and an open plan living area and kitchen. Matilda Studio offers open plan living and sleeping, while The Sheringham Hut provides a contemporary glamping space. There is also plenty of outdoor space in which to venture and relax, with lovely undisturbed views of the open countryside. You can sit and watch the horses in the livery next door or read a book in the sun trap courtyard. With Cambridge only 12 miles away (15-20 minute drive), it is easy access into the centre by car for those wanting to explore this historic city, but looking for a quiet and peaceful holiday or work environment. There is also plenty to do locally, with Burwash Manor and Wimpole Hall close by, along with lots of tasty gastro pubs. Clopton Courtyard is fully equipped for those looking for self catering accommodation but who want a little bit of extra luxury and peace. What makes this place special is the unique nature of the interiors, which have been designed to provide premium accommodation in a rural setting. Whether a bath in the bedroom, beautiful sliding barn doors, or a wet room, there is something to suit everyones' tastes and requirements. For more information, please get in touch and we'll be happy to help. We look forward to welcoming you to Clopton Courtyard and hope you like the barns as much as we do. N.B. Please note that our hot tub and fire pit will be closed during the COVID-19 lock down period, and we recommend that guests avoid communal areas as much as possible and to keep a safe distance from other people staying. We are only taking new bookings from guests who meet the following criteria 'Where people live in these as interim abodes whilst their primary residence is unavailable they may continue to do so. Key workers can continue to stay in hotels or similar where required'. - taken from government guidelines re commercial accommodation.
We are very rural so it is lovely and quiet. A car is advisable or taxis will also pick up. Clopton Courtyard is 10 minutes from Royston, which has a large Tesco for all your shopping needs. If you prefer something a bit more special than Burwash Manor has a lovely farm shop and is around 10 minutes by car. Cambridge of course is a must see city and there is plenty to do there. Luke2020-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s place is absolutely stunning. My boyfriend and I needed a night away from London and I could not recommend this barn enough! The town of Gamlingay is scenic and quiet (perfect for getting away from a city hustle and bustle) and Sarah’s place is truly the highlight. Although in a barn, it’s modern touches and comfortable interior make it one of the home-iest (definitely not a word but you get it) Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed in. Plus there are loads of board games in the house and a fire place which just topped off it’s cuteness! Definitely recommend!!

    Erica2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect.

    Simon2020-03-19T00:00:00Z

  • Sarah’s place is marvellous. We had a 10 day stay in early March and it was like being in a home from home. Sarah has made the space so comfortable and it is beautifully equipped with everything you could possibly need. The downstairs has a log burner and underfloor heating and is wonderfully cosy. We love to cook and although the kitchen space is fairly small, the equipment is excellent, and everything looks new and very functional. Even the cooking knives were REALLY sharp, which is unusual in most rentals. The bedroom and shower room are also very comfortable, stylish and roomy, and the shower is marvellous, especially after a long walk in chilly March. Gamlingay turned out to be a lovely friendly village with local shops, farm shops and cafes. We greatly enjoyed the hospitality of the local pubs too. All in all, we can’t recommend The Little Hop House highly enough. If you need to spend some time in South Cambs/ Beds this is perfect. We visited Duxford, The Shuttleworth Collection, Wimpole Hall (NT) and the RSPB HQ reserve near Sandy. There are also plenty of good walks in the Gamlingay area with some lovely nature reserves. Thank you to Sarah and Stuart for being so welcoming and helpful and for creating such a great place. Don’t change anything!! I hope we will return.

  • Such a wonderful place to stay. Bed was really comfy and shower was lovely and powerful. We had everything in there that we needed and more. All the little touches were great and decor was really smart/high end. Much bigger than it looks in the pics and really homely with the underfloor heating. Great places nearby for brekkie and dinner. I’m ganna come again with the hubby as he’s jealous it was so nice.

  • Looking for somewhere to stay for a weekend to explore Cambridge, I came across this fantastic place, a mere 20 minute easy drive from the Park&Ride. I was drawn to its quirkiness being a converted Hop store and it didn’t disappoint! It’s been beautifully renovated to a very high standard of finish. And the main plus points, the list is long! Easy parking right outside the front door. It’s very warm and cosy, with underfloor heating and a log burner. The kitchen area is incredibly well equipped and stylishly done. So much so we decided to stay in and cook rather than head to the pub! Everything has been thought of, even quality coffee and decaf teabags. The bedroom area is lovely and relaxing, comfy bed with quality cotton linens and plenty of pillows. The shower is large and strong water pressure (no trickling!) with fluffy towels and shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided. Everything is spotlessly clean, we felt like the first people ever to stay here. Considering the prices of other things closer to Cambridge, this offers exceptionally good value for money. After a day sightseeing, it was a real treat to come back and put our feet up at the little Hop house. I would heartily recommend staying at Sarah‘s lovely place. We were made to feel thoroughly welcome by her and her family, and really appreciated all the hard work that’s gone into making this a fantastic conversion. Thank you Sarah, we had a perfect Valentines weekend ❤️

  • This was an ideal little cottage with all that you need for a little getaway. The cottage was throughly clean with spacious rooms. The extra details added to the coach house made it feel extra special such as the water bottles, spare toiletries and TV choices. The breakfast was amazing and a real treat. You will not need anything else. Catered for all our needs. The location was great- ideal quiet village with everthing you need. Not too far from other places of interest. Strongly reccommend visiting Cinnamon -the local indian restaurant/takeaway. The staff are delightful and the food yummy! A definite recommendation if you like Indian cuisine. Overall a great location with so many things to do and see. Thank you to our hosts Chris and Emma

  • Pictures don’t really do this place justice, it’s bigger than it looks! And Emma & Chris were fantastic hosts. We had the (mis)fortune of being away during Storm Dennis, however this place was incredibly cosy and very, very toasty. It’s a well insulated building, despite the ‘barn-like’ structure. I wouldn’t worry about being cold, the heaters work very well. That being said, Emma still left the lovely touch of two fuzzy hot water bottles on the bed for us, just in case. The entire place is well equipped, the kitchen has everything you need and we were pleasantly surprised to find a very nicely stocked fridge! Emma had kindly provided eggs, bread, milk, butter, waffles, oats, honey, apple juice, yogurts, various cereals, muesli and a full fruit bowl. There were also teas, coffees, herbal teas and a coffee machine with various pods too. This quaint, yet cosy, little space is the perfect home away from home. We were stuck indoors a fair amount due to the storm but we actually loved being at The Coach House. My boyfriend and I would return without a doubt.

  • Excellent location, easy to get to. The accommodation was exactly what we wanted, quaint, tidy with full of special touches. The breakfast bit were spot. All in all if I’m ever in the area again I will be looking to stay there again

    Lee2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy, comfortable and very quiet. A delight

    Gavin2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy Coach house lives up to expectations. Very cute main sitting room, bedroom and en-suite. Kitchen very tiny, but seemed to cram in all that we needed. Low beam might catch out some[ I'm 6' 2" and it just touched the top of my head]. En-suite beautifully clean. Take some bedroom slippers though as the tiled floor in the En Suite was chilly in December. Bed really comfy and roomy. Very little in Grafham itself, [just what we wanted], although St Neots and Huntingdon not that far by car.
