Places to stay in Coupar Angus
This is a beautiful traditional cottage with modern facilities situated in the heart of Perthshire. You will enjoy the private use of a bedroom and bathroom - both bedrooms offer privacy, comfort, and charm. Within easy access are a host of incredible places to visit including many top visitor attractions. Walkers, climbers, skiers, cyclists, golfers, fishers, those interested in exploring and those who just want to "chill" will be well catered for and made most welcome.
Glenkilrie Cottage has rural charm and privacy and yet is very centrally located. In summer enjoy the sun trap patio in the evening, in winter enjoy the cosiness of the wood burning stove. Rural walks, history, magnificent golf courses, historic buildings, rivers to fish, lanes to cycle... so much to do. A great base for events such as the Scottish Game Fair, Rewind Festival Perth, Perth Festival of the Arts, various Highland Games, the Enchanted Forest experience, and the British Open when it comes to St Andrews.
Glenkilrie is a part of Woodside, a tiny village on the edge of Burrelton. This area abounds with fruit growing fields in the summer where strawberries and raspberries can be purchased at the roadside freshly picked from the adjacent fields. It is known for its rivers, beautiful golf courses, and cycling and walking routes. In winter, it is only a short drive from the ski slopes of Glenshee.

  • We had a pleasant room with an en-suite. Robin was unable to be there for much of our stay but he had everything available and set out for us. We were in want for nothing. He left us a personal message that was very comprehensive and had we stayed longer we would have had endless topics of conversation. A very nice gentleman who is a very generous host. Would stay again

Situated at the foot of Dunsinnan Hill, this recently renovated beautiful cottage in rural Perthshire is more than a 100years old. It is a great place to relax and is ideal for hill walkers with beautiful countryside in this area. It is well located for Carse of Gowrie wedding venues - Fingask, Errol Park and Guardswell Farm all within 15 minutes from Cottage. Collace is very near to Dundee and Perth both approx 20 minutes away. A car is essential as there is no public transport.
Newly renovated country cottage, bright and airy with log burning stove. Logs supplied.
  • What a lovely place to stay. Very clean and cosy. Loved the welcoming treats and of course the log burner.

    Julie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location, very peaceful and quiet. Very clean and tidy.

    John2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We can honestly say this is the loveliest Airbnb we have stayed it. Roomy, lovely decor, all facilities and amenities you could want, great host, peaceful, cosy, great woodburner, all added up to a wonderful stay. Don’t think twice, Book now!

    Selena2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful, so nice and cosy. Loved the wood burner and watching the dancing flames, so warm. It was immaculate, very fresh and clean. Sally was a great host, very friendly and helpful. She helped us arrange a taxi from our wedding venue - a friendly and punctual driver. The raspberry jam is delicious, the flavour just explodes in your mouth - reminded me of my granny’s. We had an absolutely gorgeous long weekend, so peaceful and tranquil with an open view of the countryside and hills. You just couldn’t help relax, hopefully we will return in the future and do more exploring in Perthshire and Tayside. Fabulous accommodation.

    Kirsty2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Sally’s place is a real gem. Tucked away in a small village, quiet and peaceful for a getaway. The log fire was a real treat and enjoyed working it too. Sally and her partner were really friendly and quick to respond if we had any questions. Definitely looking forward to visiting again in the near future.

    Laura2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sally’s place is great value and perfect for a quiet few days. We stayed for two nights and would happily book again if returning to the area. A car is needed but Sally makes sure you know where to go and there’s easy parking at the door. The log fire was great and easy to use and the whole house was absolutely spotless. Perth and Dundee are about 15 minutes away and the antiques centre at Abernyte is well worth a visit.

    Paul2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is amazing. The location is in perfect. The host is great. I would definitely stay here again 100%.

    Peter2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in this cottage was absolutely fantastic, we loved our weekend and Sally is so friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the idiot's guide to build a fire and the homemade raspberry Jam.

    John2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Really pleased with my stay at the Pictland loft: both the accommodation and the location are excellent. In the apartment, every thing is new and clean, the kitchen has anything one could need and a very good quality equipment, the living room is big and with a nice view onto the first Highlands hills. The wifi is working very well and at high speed. There is a parking on the property if you have a car, which is highly recommended. The location is also very good: between the Highlands and beautiful glens on the North and towns (Perth, Dundee, Edinburgh) and nice villages (St Andrews, Crail, ...) on the South, and between perfect lochs on the West and the sea and cliffs on the East. It is even possible to start walking in very picturesque and quiet surroundings directly from the loft. And last but not least, Clara and Alan are great hosts, very responsive when you have any special need, very flexible with the arrival and departure times and extremely generous (thanks again !). I would really recommend staying here and would not hesitate to come back.

Welcome to Sunnyhall Cottage Bothy! The Bothy is a small, but perfectly formed, newly renovated residence. Set in the beautiful area of Lundie, this little dwelling is full of charm and personality. It sits alongside our own cottage so as well as having the privacy of your own self catering living space, there is usually someone about should you have any questions or require any assistance. The setting is tranquil, with beautiful walks but it is also within easy reach of Dundee and Perth.
The Bothy is at the end of a private road so there is no passing traffic and plenty car parking space. We do have dogs and they are often just out and about working away with us. We have three Cocker Spaniels (very friendly) and two Pyrenean Sheepdogs (fairly timid but they can bark at strangers). We welcome dogs but as this is a very small house, we would prefer you to provide us with details prior to booking. The Bothy has a comfortable living space/kitchen area, complete with a wood burner, TV, cooker/microwave and fridge freezer. There is a large shower area and the bedroom has a comfortable king size bed. There is a small storage room, perfect for boots and jackets and next to the central heating boiler, just in case you need to dry anything off. There is no washing machine but our own machine can be used on request. WiFi is now available in The Bothy.
This is a very special area, close to town yet off the beaten track. Wildlife is literally on our doorstep. We regularly see roe deer, red squirrels and ospreys in the fields, woodland and loch areas. In this area there is something for all. Go walking in the surrounding area or the beautiful Angus Glens. Glamis Castle and grounds are a short drive away. Visit attractions in Dundee such as the V & A, the RRS Discovery or Verdant Works. Visit Broughty Ferry and enjoy traditional music at The Fisherman’s Tavern on a Thursday evening, enjoy one of the many restaurants or indulge in fish and chips or ice cream sitting by the beach. For the golfing enthusiast, there are many courses in the area. The championship courses at Carnoustie, St Andrews and Gleneagles are all within reach by car. Auchterhouse Country sports is a five minute drive away and offers Clay Pigeon Shooting, Quad Bike Trecks and Archery. Information on local attractions and amenities will be in The Bothy.
  • Sheona and Sandy are fabulous hosts and The Bothy is perfect for a week away with the pooch who loved every minute. The views and walls are stunning and the tiny house is perfectly formed with all you could need for a getaway. Thank you from two well rested travellers and Snoop Dogg

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bothy. We were welcomed by a roaring fire, and a stunning home. It’s not often you can find a dog friendly property decorated to such a high standard. The property is incredibly beautiful. The surroundings were beautiful and our dog loved the walks available from the door step. Sandy and Sheona were incredibly helpful and welcoming. And we loved the little touches such as milk, teas and coffees etc. Thank you so much.

  • Amazing, amazing, amazing. Beautiful apartment with stunning views of river. Comfortable furniture, stocked kitchen and bathroom so if you forget to being something there is a good chance Siobhan has already thought if it. Arrived to find bread, milk and bacon for the breakfasts. Whole group loved this place, we will all be back x

    Mackenzie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot rate this place highly enough! We were bowled over by Siobhan’s hospitality. The flat was spacious and immaculately clean. The views over Ericht river were beautiful and there was everything you could possibly ever need available in the flat. The location is perfect with all shops/amenities a very short walk away, as well as having beautiful nature walks on your doorstep. The locals and neighbours are all very friendly, and Blairgowrie town itself is beautiful. We will definitely be back.

    Claire2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Siobhan's luxurious penthouse flat is wonderful. She has thought of all that is needed to make it a special place to stay. It is very spacious & equipped to a very high standard. The generous welcome pack is superb & very much appreciated. The location & the views over the river are wonderful. It is by far the best accommodation that we have rented; you would be hard pressed to find a better Air B&B. Many thanks again Siobhan we look forward to staying with you again.

    David2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place and great host

    Susan2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Siobhan’s apartment is spotlessly clean, spacious and well appointed. We were surprised and delighted to find such breakfast choices available - so generous and super helpful when travelling with three children. All the sleeping spaces were beautifully organised with comfortable beds, pristine bedding and lovely decorative touches. The flat is located right by the River Ericht with scenic views and lovely walks on the doorstep. The town centre is a stone’s throw away. My only caution would be if you have young children, do be very careful with the mezzanine level. Our youngest is 5 and understood she wasn’t to climb or pull herself up on the railings but ‘forgot’ once or twice...it’s not a problem with proper supervision. Siobhan has renewed my faith in AirBnb! We hope to be back soon.

    Fiona2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place in a peaceful location. Siobhan goes the extra mile to make staying here really luxurious. Unbeatable value. We’re already planning our next visit!

    Caroline2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • What an absolutely incredible apartment. Plenty of space, spotlessly clean and absolutely everything you could possibly ask for is provided. The host, Siobhan, communicated promptly and was unbelievably generous leaving lots of nice goodies in the fridge. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. We have stayed at many Airbnb properties and this one was the best. Thank you so much Siobhan for your generosity and thoughtful touches to make our stay so pleasant.

Fordyce is right next to a fine old church with magnificent spire. The room is large with comfortable double bed, wardrobes, wifi, table and chairs, bookcases, local info and tea/coffee making facilities. Blair is an attractive central location for golfers, walkers, cyclists and skiers, with complex landscape, archaeology and culture. It is also a handy stopping off place on the way between Edinburgh Airport and Skye, Aberdeen, Inverness and the Highlands.
As I'm a writer, the house is full of books, which visitors are welcome to browse. One of the things I write about is contemporary art and this is reflected in the decor of the house. A peregrine falcon used to perch on top of the neighbouring church spire, but hasn't been seen lately. However, a couple of bats emerge from the spire at dusk and a hedgehog is a regular visitor to the garden. Everyone is welcome, whether it's for local work, touring Scotland, getting away from it all, or exploring the local area.
Blairgowrie is a bustling, traditional Scottish town, with a population of 10,000, nestling on the banks of the River Ericht. People used to work in waterside mills. Now 'Castle Water' is the town's principle employer. Blair has a range of independent shops (butcher's, fish, deli, antiques), as well as a range of cafés, pubs and restaurants. Wetherspoon's operates from what used to be a branch of Woolworths. Little's is a superb fish restaurant in a converted church. Other fine dining options include the Meiklour Arms (with shooting and fishing associations) and Ballathie House Hotel on the Tay. Getting back to basics, Sainsbury's is one minute walk away, while a large Tesco is a 5-minute stroll. This part of Perthshire is a great place for hiking, cycling, and touring by car. The surrounding landscape contains lovely walks (the Cateran Trail), incorporating woods, farmland, lochs, hills, rivers, stone circles, museums (several with unique collections of Pictish stones) and castles. Some of the richest people in the UK have property in Perthshire, often in large estates. Thankfully, the Right to Roam legislation means that these estates (and land in general) can be walked through by the public. The River Tay and its branches, (Ericht and Isla) contain dramatic gorges as well as meandering plains where the river is flanked by floodbanks made centuries ago by monks from Coupar Angus (5 miles away). Blairgowrie is particularly proud of its landscaped golf course, Rosemount, one of the finest inland courses in the UK. There are quaint towns nearby, including Kirriemuir, birthplace of JM Barrie, creator of 'Peter Pan'; and Dunkeld, with its old cathedral, rolling River Tay and a museum dedicated to Beatrix Potter, who used to holiday there. The 20-minute drive to Dunkeld is studded with lovely lochs, including Loch of the Lowes where ospreys nest. Glamis Castle, birthplace of the Queen Mother, is also a relatively short drive.

  • The town house has everything a family could need for a great holiday. The kitchen is superbly equipped. There is also a very good washing machine and dryer which we needed to use as we got soaked playing golf. The beds are extremely comfortable. The house is in a perfect location overlooking the river and within 400 and 800 yards of the two best restaurants in Blairgowrie.

Greenbrae cottage is perfectly located to explore Perthshire and other towns and cities nearby; St Andrews and Edinburgh are only an hour away by car! There are many top visitor attractions within easy traveling distance so whether it’s golfing, cycling, walking, fishing, skiing, or culture you’re looking for, there’s something for everyone!
The cosy sitting room has a comfy sofa, 2 lounge chairs, coal fire, and smart TV with Sky. The large homely kitchen provides dining for 4 people, however, if the weather is good, why don’t you eat outside in the lovely enclosed garden? The kitchen is fully equipped for your convenience. WiFi is available throughout the cottage.
Greenbrae cottage sits on the village green in Burrelton, which itself is located right in the heart of Scotland, approximately 20 mins from Perth & Dundee, and around 60 mins to Edinburgh and St Andrews by car. Burrelton is a small village with a lively community spirit, a small convenience shop, butchers shop, and the village pub is right at the center of the local community.
  • What an absolutely beautiful cottage to spend the weekend in. We just loved it. Would highly recommend it for a quiet cosy weekend away and the local pub was great for food. Very handy for local mountains too if you like a spot of hiking We would definitely return.

  • What a beautiful oasis from busy life! We absolutely loved our stay at this cottage. It was home from home with some very thoughtful touches to make our stay even better. It wasn't far from Perth and the village itself was beautiful. Unfortunately for us the weather wasn't great when we stayed so we didn't get to use the back garden, but it would have been a lovely haven in lovely weather. Definitely worth a visit.

  • We booked into Laurine’s cottage after being let down with our previous accommodation so we were very fortunate that it was available. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer place to stay; the cottage was comfortable and cosy and genuinely made our weekend! And our host really did everything they could to make sure we were well looked after and really couldn’t recommend her and her property enough! Will definitely be looking to stay there again in the future

  • Tatiaba is amazing. She welcome us with open heart and big smile. I recommend her for everyone who wants to have an amazing experience. She was ready to help us with tips for the local place's that we can visit and so much more. Thank you for everything :)

    Kristiyan2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Tatiana was very welcoming and lovely. Her house is a real family house so it really felt like home. She didn't checked us in personally but it was due to personal circumstances and her friend let us into the house which was ok. It was a bit tricky to find her house in the first place cuz we didn't have a house number and Google maps showed us a house at a street which wasn't Tatiana's. But we just had to walk up the street a bit more and finally found the house straight across a car park. The bed we slept in was quite squeaky but the room was dark and quiet at night so we still could sleep. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. Tatiana gave us some great tips for hiking but unfortunately we already had other plans and couldn't explore them. I would recommend. Thank you, Tatiana!

The space is small, but very comfortable, and is equipped with all the essentials. The fresh eggs were lovely. It's a beautiful area!

  • The cabin is a lovely space, great value and superbly located. We have 2 springers that loved the garden and spent time walking into Blairgowrie from it. Mel met us in person and gave us a lovely welcome, despite us arriving in the middle of the night! The eggs and milk were a lovely touch too. I can’t recommend the Cabin enough, we would come back in a heartbeat, thanks Mel! 😁

  • Pondfauld is a lovely, countryside retreat, with lovely grounds and hens roaming freely. The accommodation is thoughtfully presented, nothing seems too much. On arrival we were greeted warmly and shown the cabin, where everything was etc. Keith and Mel are happy to help with suggestions of things to do, places to see. The cabin was brilliant, compact but fully equipped, exactly what we needed. Our 2 dogs loved the big window to watch the hens. Reasonable dark sky to see some stars. Bats buzzards etc. Just a great place with Blairgowrie/Rattray a nice walk away, full of amenities.

  • We were looking for an accomodation for just one night on the way back to edinburgh from skye Island and Linda 's house was just we were looking for. Excellent clean, spacious, beautiful bathroom and kitchen full equipped with all you need for cooking. Only bad thing....The table was too small for 4 persons is not possible to extend it

We have very big range of drinks, it's over 200 spirits in the bar, very nice cocktails and reasonable prices. also big range of bottled beers, Scotch Whiskys and different drinks from all over the World.
Blairgowrie’s bustling High Street is packed with independent retailers providing a wide range of goods and services. • ABSOLUTELY AMAZING IN ALL ASPECTS Gill’s lovely cottage was the perfect location for our needs. The town of Blairgowrie was easily accessible by car and a short 15 minute walk away. There was an excellent select of books to suit everyone. What was also superb was Gill had supplied a good collection of children’s games which were extremely valuable given the excess of wind and rain we encountered during our stay.Gill had provided a detailed folder of local interests, including local restaurants ( LITTLES is definitely worth a trip ) Appliance instructions were beyond brilliant and perfectly laid out in a very professional way. “The neighbours “ —-four Highland cows were a great source of interest and seemingly very interested in us humans too.IF we ever find ourselves in this area again —-then a stay at Gill’ s ARDBLAIR STABLES ——Will be an absolute definite

  • This is a lovely cottage in the countryside yet only a few minutes from the centre of Blairgowrie. The cottage is well equipped and Gill provided a lovely welcome pack of bread, butter, coffee, milk, shortbread and local strawberries - very tasty:-) There are plenty of places to explore within a short drive and some lovely restaurants and cafes. Overall, a very relaxing base from which to enjoy Perthshire and Angus.

Kathleen is a wonderful hostess, providing everything essential to a wonderful stay...a breakfast basket, fresh flowers, cooking accoutrements, and laundry detergent, a comfy bed, and a great shower with lots of hot water. Truly, a gem of Scottish hospitality! She even researched bus schedules for us ignorant Americans! I definitely recommend a stay at The Burrows if you're in Scotland.

My place is close to the middle of a small welcoming town amid beautiful Highland landscapes. You’ll love my place because the house is very comfortable and well-equipped. It has been graded 5 Star by VisitScotland. And Blairgowrie is famous for its friendly people and relaxed atmosphere, its beautiful scenery and its world-class walking, cycling, golf, fishing and skiing.
5-Star Comfort Built in the 1880s, Invermay retains the look and feel of a traditional Victorian villa, whilst providing 21st century home comforts. Garage The garage is the table football venue where you'll also find a static exercise bike and a road bike
Blairgowrie Blairgowrie, “Blair” as it’s called locally, is a relaxed and friendly town. It boomed on the back of the 19th century textile industry when there were fourteen mills lining the river Ericht on the edge of town. More recently, Blair has become the warm heart of Europe’s soft fruit industry and you can sample the local produce at its farm shops, pubs, cafes, country inns and award-winning restaurants. As the largest town in the mainly rural county of Perthshire, Blairgowrie is big enough to offer a choice of national supermarket chains, but small enough for quality independent local shops (well-established, local butchers, bakers and, even, kilt-makers) to survive and prosper – so shopping is a holiday pleasure rather than a routine chore. There’s plenty to keep you busy in and around Blair - interesting walking and cycling in and around the town – by the Ericht and in the Bluebell Woods; two of the best inland golf courses in the country; and some of the best trout and salmon fishing in Europe. Glenshee, the UK’s largest ski resort, is just 18 miles away. And there’s a busy programme of events, too, which includes regular street markets as well annual highland games, walking and literary festivals Blairgowrie is also an excellent central base for touring: it’s less than half an hour’s drive from Perth & Dundee, whilst St Andrews, Pitlochry & Braemar are all within an hour. But once you’ve arrived you may not want to travel further – there’s a change of air and a change of pace here that many find addictive and, once experienced, hard to leave behind. For more information about the town, shopping, eating out, events and activities, you can visit (URL HIDDEN) or (URL HIDDEN) North East Perthshire Blair is the ideal base from which to explore the small towns and villages, rolling farmlands and mountain scenery of North East Perthshire. Nearby Alyth is a picturesque farming town criss-crossed by streams & little footbridges; Meigle’s old village schoolhouse displays one of the most important collections of Pictish-carved stones in Scotland; and pretty red sandstone Kirriemuir, the home of JM Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, sits nearby fairytale Glamis Castle. The dramatic mountain scenery and glorious heather moors of Glenshee and the highland glens of Strahardle and Glen Isla provide great walking, fishing and wonderful wildlife photography and birdwatching. You may hear the red deer stags roaring if you walk The Cateran Trail in autumn. And spy osprey at the Loch of the Lowes if you visit in the summertime. And, all year round, you’ll have chances to spot golden eagle, buzzards, hen harriers, peregrine and merlin in the ever-changing skies and pine martens, red squirrel, beaver, otters and wildcats in the woodlands, burns and moors. Perth Just a short drive from Blairgowrie, the Fair City of Perth is a city of parks and gardens that regularly wins Britain in Bloom awards. Its narrow vennels conceal and cosset a host of small speciality shops and galleries and some of the finest restaurants in Scotland. And with its museums, theatre, concert hall, it’s easy to see why Perth is bidding to become the UK City of Culture in 2021. Perth was once the capital of Scotland and Scottish kings, including Robert the Bruce, were crowned at magnificent Scone Palace, one of the UK’s most popular historic houses, which you’ll find on the city’s boundaries on the road to Blairgowrie. Perth Racecourse, near Scone Palace, hosts a varied programme of flat and National Hunt racing from April to September, including the prestigious Gold Cup meeting in June.
  • This is a perfect house for a family stay for Glenshee Ski resort. We fell in love with the house so much character. Had everything we could of needed. We loved having a fire in the living room every evening. The Arga was excellent for cooking the breakfast, one hob cooked food teally fast and the other kept it warm. Craig left us a bottle of Prosecco milk and some treats which was a really nice gesture. I would highly recommend to everyone and we will definitely come back in the next couple of years. Communication was spot on with great directions and information provided in the house. The Sky Sports and Cinema was a bonus. Lovely garden for summer stays. Thank you so much Craig for a wonderful stay on our first try at skiing in the Scottish Cairngorms.

  • We had a fantastic time at Invermay. A truly outstanding house which we loved spending time in. Only wish we'd had longer to enjoy it! It is extremely spacious, beautifully decorated, well equipped, comfortable and warm. We'd definitely stay here again.

  • Invermay is a wonderful home in which to base yourselves during a visit to Blairgowrie. The house is incredibly comfortable with spacious and luxurious bedrooms and a very cosy kitchen which is warmed by the Aga. The house has everything you could hope for as well as marvellous hosts. We had great trips to Aberfeldy, the Hermitage in Dunkeld, St Andrews and the Enchanted Forest in Pitlochry. We all had a great time (2 adults, a 29 year old and three 14 year olds. Thanks so much

  • I am quite a picky person when it comes to holiday accommodation.... yet, there was not even a tiniest little thing to complain about. Craig is a wonderful host, any time I contacted him to ask the smallest thing, he promptly answered with a spot on suggestion. The location was perfect and the house amazing! I even wish It rained more so we would stay in and enjoyed it throughout. Would recommend anytime!

    Lucie2019-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two night at Craig’s place. The house was lovely and warm when we arrived. And it certainly felt like home! Plenty of space and board games to occupy the kids. Access to Netflix and Sky, and a lovely wood burning fire were lovely. The kitchen is fully equipped, large enough to make meals. Would definitely love to stay again when in the area. Thanks a lot!

We are situated in a peaceful, rural setting of an historic walled garden with views of the Sidlaws and Grampians. My husband and I are retired and our family live around the UK but we love living near Perth and Dundee in the beautiful Vale of Strathmore. There is much to do and see. We like the outdoors, opera, ballet travelling and art and antiques. We also enjoy working in our garden and having people to stay.
The bedroom is in a converted potting shed of the walled garden but it is attached to the house giving a private space for our guests. The bedroom with a king size double bed is accessed by a staircase from a private sitting room. There is an ensuite shower room. TV and free WiFi A private entrance, parking in the drive, toiletries and hair dryer, iron on request. We are able to provide shelter for bikes. Safety features: smoke detector, first aid kit, fire extinguisher.
Good footpaths and quiet minor roads for walking and cycling from the house. Attractions nearby: Scone Palace, Blair Castle and Glamis Castke, galleries, museums in Dundee and Perth, antiques centres and theatres. Some of Scotland's best golf courses are within a few minutes drive and the Gleneagles Hotel with it's golf and shooting school is 1 hour from here,
  • Very comfortable accommodation with a warm & welcoming host

  • Our stay at Margaret was just perfect. We had in addition to the bedroom a living room and a private bathroom. The decor is typical, very good taste and the cleanliness is irreproachable. Margaret brings a special care to breakfast (homemade jams and local products), we feasted. When we arrived, Margaret very kindly called a restaurant to book us a table. For your kindness and your warm welcome, we thank you Margaret.

  • Margaret's beautiful home was a 7-star-experience. We could not expect anything better. The rooms were excellent. We had our own bedroom, bathroom and sitting room, all located in an annex of the house. Margaret reccommend us to dine at an inn located in the neighbouring village of Ardler, about a mile walk away. This was a fine experience. Next morning we received a very tasty and great breakfast, before we continued our journey further on. Most reccomended!

  • I would recommend Margaret to everyone. The house was immaculate and sparkling clean with little touches that make such a difference. Thank you also for booking dinner at the local pub.

The Old Coach House is in Rosemount, a quiet residential area in Blairgowrie. We are a 15 minute stroll from the clubhouse at Blairgowrie Golf Club and 2 miles from the centre of this attractive market town. With a large lounge, well-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, adjacent dining room, and a secluded garden, the house is ideal for relaxing and socialising with family and friends. Two of the double bedrooms are on the ground floor which is useful for people with restricted mobility.
The Old Coach House is believed to have been built in 1905. It retains many of its original features including a vaulted ceiling above a double-height living room. Skylights in the roof ensure this room has excellent natural light all year round.
Rosemount is a quiet residential area 2 miles from Blairgowrie town centre. Blairgowrie is a fantastic location in its own right and also as a base from which to explore much of what Scotland has to offer. We will describe some of what there is within easy reach. Cities and Travel We are within easy reach of all of Scotland’s cities which offer excellent cultural, leisure and retail facilities and a whole lot more • Perth – 16 miles from Perth which has excellent direct rail links to all Scottish cities and some direct train services to London Kings Cross • Dundee – 20 miles from Dundee, on the East Coast Main railway line that runs from Aberdeen to London Kings Cross • Edinburgh - 60 miles from Edinburgh City Centre and 57 miles from Edinburgh Airport – approximately a drive of 1 hour 15 minutes to each • Glasgow – 73 miles from Glasgow City Centre and 81 miles from Glasgow Airport – around 1 hour 30 minutes by car • Aberdeen – 73 miles to Aberdeen by car Beautiful Perthshire Sir Walter Scott described Perthshire as “The fairest portion of the northern kingdom.” It is a region of considerable variety and contrasts, spanning areas of the Highlands to the west and north, and the verdant agricultural land renowned for soft fruit production to the south and east. Historic Scotland • Dunkeld (11 miles) – a beautiful small town on the banks of the Tay with its Cathedral, the earliest part of which dates back to the late 1200s, and a host of houses of historic interest including one visited by Robert Burns. Across the river, over the bridge built by Thomas Telford opened in 1809, one can find the Birnam Oak, over 500 years old and a survivor of the wood described by Shakespeare in Macbeth. • Scone Palace (15 miles) – now one of Scotland’s most important stately homes with an ancient history as the place of the Scottish Kings and a seat of parliaments. Now often also used as a venue for concerts, fairs and other gatherings. • Glamis Castle (15 miles) – with a history dating back to 1372, the setting for Macbeth, the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and the home of the Earl and Countess of Strathmore, Glamis provides a fascinating day out • Kirriemuir – J.M. Barrie’s childhood home (15 miles) – now a museum and recreation of the home as it would have looked during J.M. Barrie’s childhood. Kirriemuir itself is a charming little market town worth spending time in. • Arbroath Abbey (32 miles) – founded in 1178 and most famous for the 1320 Declaration of Scottish Independence. • Balmoral Castle (42 miles) – is the Scottish home of the Royal Family where the family spend much of the Summer. Outside of those times parts of the grounds, garden and exhibitions are open to the public. Nature, Wildlife and Captive Animals The Old Coach House is home, and a stopping off point, to a large number and variety of birds, frogs, hedgehogs and the odd red squirrel! Nearby walks will often bring sightings woodpeckers, jays, various raptors, and of local fallow deer. Not much further afield you will find: Rivers including the Ericht, Isla and Tay all within a few miles of the Old Coach House and popular for casual strolls, longer walks and fishing for salmon and trout (permits can be purchased locally). Loch of the Lowes (9 miles) – A Scottish Wildlife Trust Centre which is the home of nesting ospreys, red squirrels, otters and beavers. Loch Tay Safaris (32 miles) - https://www.lochtaysafaris.net/ Highland Safaris (and Red Deer Centre) (31 miles) - https://www.highlandsafaris.net/ Coastal Locations We are around 30 miles (some locations a little nearer, some a little further) from the east coast including the towns of Arbroath and Montrose, and some lovely beaches including Lunan Bay (https://www.visitscotland.com/info/towns-villages/lunan-bay-p315721). We are also 30 miles from the gorgeous historic town of St Andrews, and 40 miles from the charming East Neuk of Fife towns and villages including Anstruther, Crail, Pittenweem, St Monan’s, Elie and Earlsferry. Glens, Mountains and Lochs Blairgowrie sits on the Highland Boundary fault, the geographical dividing line between the highlands and lowlands. The River Ericht, a tributary of the Tay, runs through the town. Heading north from Blairgowrie on the A93 one soon reaches the Grampians which contain some of the highest peaks in Scotland. Glenshee ski centre, the highest point of any A road in the UK (the Cairnwell Pass), and in the midst of a number of Munros, is 25 miles from the Old Coach House. 40 miles to the south west will see you at Loch Earn, a beautiful inland loch with a number of nearby munros, and the same distance west will take you to Loch Tay, another glorious setting including the renowned Queen’s View. We are less than 30 miles from the Angus Glens. Outdoor Pursuits Golf For those intent on spoiling a good walk, The Old Coach House is a short walk from the Clubhouse of the Blairgowrie Golf Club, home of the Rosemount Course said by some commentators to be on a par with the famous Gleneagles Centenary Course. Gleneagles itself is 31 miles away to the south west, the same distance as the Old Course at St Andrews. A couple of miles closer, off to the south east, is Carnoustie, home of the 2018 Open Championship. There are a good many more local courses suiting all ranges of ability and budget. Walking Blairgowrie is an excellent base for the highly-regarded Cateran Trail walk, which begins in Blairgowrie, and there are countless options for walks be it in the hills, along riverbanks or on the coast, within easy reach. Skiing The Old Coach House is 25 miles from the largest ski centre in Scotland, Glenshee. There are several local options for hiring equipment for those who do not have their own. Driving Blairgowrie is the gateway to the Northeast 250 (https://www.northeast250.com/) route. For those who prefer going off-road, we are only 9 miles from the Land Rover Experience Centre (http://www.scotland.landroverexperience.co.uk/). Food and Drink Blairgowrie is known as the home of the Scottish soft fruit industry and superb-quality berries are readily available from various outlets from May through to October. There is also a range of good local pubs and restaurants making the most of excellent local produce. We will be pleased to provide our own recommendations upon request! For whisky and gin lovers, there are a good many distilleries within easy reach including the smallest whisky distillery in Scotland, and several of the top rated distilleries for visitors according to Tripadvisor.

  • We came for a family holiday of 3 generations. The house was the perfect size and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms made it a very enjoyable stay. The master suite was stunning and we loved the little touches like bathrobes in all the rooms. Allan and shirley were a pleasure and my children were delighted to see Harvey. We would definitely stay here again.
