Places to stay in Cochise
Desert ranchette with view of Cochise stronghold
  • Lupe’s place near the Cochise Stronghold was not the first place I stayed in the area, but as in the case of Goldilocks, it was the third that offered the greatest rest and the largest “den”. I had planned to stay 10 days to contemplate relocating to the area but as life happens, I had plenty of time to do so much more. I was required to extend my stay to navigate unplanned events and changes, all of which Lupe warmly rolled with and even supported. A series of dilemmas amounted to almost no stress because of a cozy space and understanding hostess. Plus, there is just an ease about it. The apartment is sprawling, the kitchen always open and the views astounding in every direction. Although Rio Escondido would surely be the perfect base for exploring this awesomely rich County, I now affectionately refer to it as “Tia Escondido”, with Lupe’s kindness and hospitality being at the heart of my stay.

  • Very nice , clean and great location and the nicest host.

  • See my previous review. I booked an extra day so I am to write another review for this great Airbnb place.

    Thea2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Apart from the fact that Lupe is a great host, the place is an absolute gem. More an apartment than a room. A short 10 minutes drive to the Cochise Stronghold and a reasonable short drive to Chiricahua National Monument. Lupe shared her coffee, kitchen, food, knowledge and her positive view of life. I definitely will be back for more of that great energy.

  • Great place!

    Kirk2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The space is very clean, and comfortable. Nice bed and a great modern shower. Much larger on the inside than it looks from the outside. One of the more spacious Airbnb's we have stayed at. Host was extremely kind.

    D.2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and spacious room - WAY bigger than most we have stayed in. Lots of plants and lots of light made the place feel comfortable and warm. Excellent location for birding in the Willcox Playa or recreation in the Dragoons, Bisbee, the Chiricahuas, etc. Easy road access and fairly close to the Supercharger in Willcox. Lupe is a wonderful host and helped with refrigerator space, kitchenware, and directions. Great place to stay!

    David2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lupe's home is so much more than we expected. The rental area is really a private apartment with a modern & spacious bathroom, small sitting area in addition to couch and chairs in which to read or watch TV, and a comfortable bed. You won't be sorry if you decide to stay here, the host is a delightful, welcoming woman whom we enjoyed meeting and would gladly stay there again.

  • This is a really great, affordable place to stay with a small family. We have two kiddos and there was plenty of space for all of us. You do get an entire house to yourself, and it's nice! If you're looking for a five-star style hotel stay, this is not it. It is a clean, safe, cute little place to stay with a family, and it was very affordable for us, which was extremely helpful as our travel plans changed and we had to book it last minute.

  • We found the place easily, check in was easy they were very flexible as we checked in at 4 am. They were kind and responsive. The space has so many cozy quilts!

A spacious get-away nestled amidst desert trees in view of the breath taking Dragoon Mountain range. Living room, kitchen, dining room, bathroom and bedroom spaces. 12 foot by 32 foot roofed patio allows for indoor/outdoor living. The only sounds you are likely to hear are those of the coyote and other desert friends. There is a telescope available to view the amazing night skies. We also have a ground set fire pit for roasting marshmallows and enjoying the mountains at night.
Plenty of comfy space and large windows for panoramic views of the desert and mountains. Privacy provided by trees that abound on the property. A metal roof covers a concrete porch area that provides a Weber grill and dining and patio furniture for your comfort. There is a copper bowl fireplace on the patio. You are at the base of the Dragoon Mountains and under a sky in which the Milky Way is visible on clear nights.
You are only 15 minutes away from our little town of Sunsites, where just about anything you want or need is available (Lorraine's Patisserie, a Dollar Store, a Beauty Salon that offers manicures/pedicures, massages, and facials,...). There is a grocery store called the Produce Wagon that stocks most food needs for all types of diets (Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten Free and Lactose Intolerant) only 15 minutes away on Hwy 191. Within a half-hours time, you can visit the historical town of Willcox. Little more than an hour in any direction are a variety of sites, such as Tombstone, Bisbee, Kartchner Caverns, Fort Bowie and the Chiricahua Mountains. We have nine wineries within this area for those who enjoy trying wine made from locally grown grapes. There is a general store/gas station in the town of Sunizona. It is recommended that you fill up when passing through Benson or Willcox.
  • We stayed here for quick access the Cochise Strong hold (east) climbing area. Great views and very clean. Get groceries in Benson if coming from Tucson.

  • I can’t say enough about this experience. Everything went so smoothly. Hospitality was above and beyond. Beautiful scenery, comfortable and clean space. All the amenities you need, will definitely stay again if the opportunity arises.

    Stephanie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is much more than we expected! This place is quiet, peaceful and very comfortable! We enjoyed the many birds, animals, and especially the mountains and the sunsets. My husband found and read a book from their collection on Nico Cochise which he highly recommends. We did go out exploring the area almost every day. Theresa and Ron are excellent hosts and we highly recommend this AirBnb ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Mary2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We were a little anxious about staying in an RV. Our anxiety turned to amazement within minutes of arrival. Ron greeted us and showed us the simple rules for how everything works inside. It is cozy, but truly comfortable. We ate all of our dinners there and all but one breakfast (had to return to one of our great travel breakfast places, the Horseshoe Cafe in Benson). We never felt crowded. The countless little touches inside are delightful. The view from the patio and from the couch (we had highly unusual 20 degree mornings greeting us) of the Dragoon Mountains and into the Cochise Stronghold is etched in our memories. We plan to return.

    Dennis2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Much more than a place to stay. The tranquility fed our souls. Javelinas, birds galore, coyotes, hawks, centered in amazing historical mountains, caverns, rock collecting. A magical experience. Planning our next stay at Nancy's Nest. (And we're hosts in Sedona)

    Dennis2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • One comes here drawn to its mysteries. To see that the desert is not as desolate as it appears, to hear stories of gunfights and geology, to imagine faces of native spirits in the play of sun and clouds on the nearby Stronghold. Another mystery is why Theresa doesn’t keep this illuminating place to her own instead of sharing it with strangers? She says she wants us all to enjoy it as much as she does and all that – well, I believe in unicorns too, so that’s good enough for me! This is well thought-out, lush living, respectfully contained not to impact the environment it’s borrowed from. Perfect “feng shui”, from the placement of morning sun on the busy bird feeder to the perfectly-equipped indoor space, which is a trap of a sort…you’ll hap on a book and a nook forget to go outside! If you like cook in your cowboy hat, this is not the place for you. Other than that, the place is spacious, spotless and super-functional. I could not wish for less prickly place to enjoy the Mountains, Trees and Desert in solitude.

    Jody2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our third time staying at Theresa and Rob’s place. We love the area and hope to be back for a fourth time!

    Pinar2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic place. I cannot say enough about the location - the comforts of the place - and the area in general. The hosts gave us great advice and were super available and accommodating.

  • This is our second stay at the Stronghold Ranch, & we absolutely recommend staying here! Denis & Mavis are wonderful hosts; they're welcoming, generous & more than helpful. All around a great place to stay; RV is spacious, clean, & in great shape. WIFI works great, and the access to the mountains couldn't be better. If you're looking for a perfect place to enjoy the desert & enjoy some relaxing downtime, this is the place for you.

  • I loved, loved, loved this Airbnb. It greatly exceeded my expectations. Some of the things that I loved about this Airbnb in no particular order. Sitting on the very comfy passenger seat of the RV, looking out the panoramic window at all the beautiful green finches and watching the javelinas. It felt like I was on a safari looking at the animals from a very comfortable perch. The RV was spotless. Mavis has high standards and it shows. Both Mavis and Dennis were very quick to respond. Thank you so much for hosting me. I am already planning my next visit.

    Carol2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Mavis and Dennis in the RV on their property was a dream! It was spotless and had everything I could imagine needing. The location was perfect for visiting Chiricahua National Monument and they suggested loads of other amazing things that I wish I had had time for while I was there. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for some quiet serenity away from everything with great amenities and not too far from town! Mavis was so kind and spent a lot of time telling me about the local wildlife and showing me some of the javelinas that stay on their property!

    Elizabeth2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mavis and Dennis are lovely hosts. The RV was spotless and had everything I might have possibly needed. I enjoyed walking the trails on the property and seeing the javelina and birds daily. (For birders, I spotted house finch, lesser goldfinch, pine siskin, mourning dove, white-wing dove, Says phoebe, canyon towhee, norther cardinal, raven, curve-billed thrasher, cactus wren, pyrrhuloxia, Gambels quail, northern harrier, white-crowned sparrow, verdin, and Bewick's wren with only minimal effort. And there are plenty of Mexican jays and acorn woodpeckers a short drive away at the Cochise Stronghold campground.)

    Megan2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Dennis and Mavis' R.V. is spectacular. Not only is the motor home modern, spotless and well stocked, but the setting where it is located on the property is unbelievably picturesque and tranquil. Imagine waking up in the morning to a herd of javelina foraging right outside your window, or dozens of goldfinches visiting one of the many feeders. There is a mile of trails that wind through the property where you will experience other forms of wildlife as well. Mavis and Dennis are a treasure trove of information about the surrounding area. They have obviously made an effort to learn and experience many of the unique attractions found nearby. What's more they seem to love sharing their knowledge with others and are never too busy to advise guests on the best places to go. I highly recommend Dennis and Mavis' R.V. and ranch to anyone. I hope to be able to visit again soon.

    Paul2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We didn't actually stay at Dennis & Mavis' as we had to cancel due to an encounter with a deer that left our car undriveable that morning. They were very understanding and kind about our plight. Hopefully we will get out that way again someday. Thanks again Dennis & Mavis.

    Deborah2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Dennis and Mavis were wonderful hosts, with lots of local knowledge and and eager to be helpful. Their RV was clean and in great shape with everything one would need!

    Eli2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful and relaxing weekend staying at Dennis and Mavis' RV. The RV had everything we needed to be very comfortable. The area was beautiful and filled with the sounds of nature.

Private, non-smoking residence in Southeastern AZ close to Tucson, Tombstone and Sierra Vista. Southwestern decor. Fully furnished private bedroom with closet and dresser. Private bathroom with shower. Guests may share kitchen, family room, dining area, screen room, exercise equipment and outside space. Large walking labyrinth and Medicine Wheel in yard for meditations or prayer. Hiking path directly across the street. Quiet atmosphere. Beautiful scenery and sunsets. Close to many tourist sites.
This house is in the foothills between Benson and Pomerene, AZ. It is located 10 minutes from Benson and 4.4 miles from 1-10. The views, sunsets and sunrises are breathtaking. Our home is peaceful and we are happy to accommodate you.
The Ranch where we live is quiet, with each home on at least 4.5 acres, some with as many as 40+ acres, therefore it's spread out without much noise from neighboring homes. We are fortunate to be far enough out of town that we do not experience the loud train noises. There is a walking trail across the street. The scenery is breathtaking. The sunsets, sunrises, and the stars at night are remarkable. We have a 360 degree view of the mountains. We offer a guided labyrinth walk or medicine wheel teaching by donation if interested. Several times a year we host a group Labyrinth Walk and drumming circle which you are welcome to join. Keasha is available for Reiki Crystal Healing Sessions or Tarot Readings by appointment. There is a lot to do in the area! Tombstone is a short drive south of us. This is where the famous Shoot-out at the OK Corral took place and is now a fun tourist town. You might also want to visit the the Gammon's Gulch Movie Set, the Singing Wind Bookshop, the Oasis Sanctuary for parrots, the Forever Home Donkey Rescue, the Holy Trinity Monastery, the Thing, and the Our Lady Of The Sierras Shrine. Within driving distance are the Kartchner Caverns, Cochise Stronghold, Mt. Lemmon, Bisbee, Sierra Vista, Willcox, and the Chiricahua Mountains. The Amerind Foundation and Triangle T Ranch are close by in Dragoon. And there are tons of museums, parks, and zoos in Tucson.
  • Enjoyable stay. Nice clean house In the country so nice and quiet

  • Some people may be hesitant to stay in a room in someone else's home but you will feel more than welcome here. Mike and Keasha have poured the heart and soul into their home and land. I found the room to be much larger than what appears in the pictures. The room is super clean and comfortable. Their home is open and spacious with a beautiful kitchen. Outdoor seating if you want to take in the incredible star show that Benson offers! The bathroom has plush towels and all the amenities you could think of. The labyrinth, medicine wheel, pyramid and hiking trail are not to be missed! Mike and Keasha are warm, friendly and helpful whether you're looking for more Arizona adventures or just sacred space to relax in. I can't wait to go back and will definitely be making time for Keasha's incredible healing services!

  • Something about this home drew us in, and gratefully so. Exceptional hospitality, extraordinary vibes, outstanding company with an amazing space to share. Stayed up extra late because of the great conversation and woke up feeling EXTRA REJUVENATED. Nubian Meditation pyramid, medicine wheel, rock labyrinth, registered peace pole and wildlife sanctuary...what more could you want. We HIGHLY recommend this AIRBNB Superhost for anyone looking for that peaceful and magical spot like no other. Hats off to Mike and Keasha, Thanks for an amazing revival of spirits and restful stay along with a new found friendship. All of our best, Harold and Rin

  • Perfect place to stay over. Everything was tip top in order with two super hosts. On navigating: don't use waze, it doesn't seem to understand the location; Google maps does!

    Ronald2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Mike and Keasha’s place was perfect! My sister and I were running late for check-in and they were both very understanding. We are animal lovers and were overjoyed with the extra company of their cats, Napoleon and Pedro. The view at their home is gorgeous as we were able to roam around for a bit. All the basic toiletries were provided by them, which made the stay extra accommodating; would definitely stay here again!

    Patricia2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean, stylishly decorated and ample space for two people. Plus, really kind hosts. Waking up to beautiful views, plus a medicine wheel and labyrinth outside were just perfect! Do be warned if you're traveling in the summer... while I had a fantastic stay, my picky husband had trouble sleeping with the fan (fine for me, too loud for him) and half blind on the window that woke us with the sunset. Again, I was perfectly fine with both and could easily sleep, but if you're a light sleeper, consider packing earplugs and a sleep mask. I still give this place a great rating!!

    Nicole2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Mike and Keasha are the greatest! The house is spotless, comfortable and inviting. Some folks might think renting a spare room is odd, but I never had any complaints. They more or less offered me free choice of the TV and public spaces if I wanted it. Many nights I sat and watched TV with them, and felt as if I was hanging out with family and long time friends. I stayed with Mike and Keasha on work travel. They were very accommodating and understanding of my crazy schedule. They’re so nice and so polite! I may never have business in Benson again, but I kind of hope I do just so I can visit them (and their awesome cats) again!

Enjoy a stay in the Willcox wine region. Plan a trip for wine tasting, go for a hike in Chiricahua National Monument, or just relax in the high desert. Cool evenings in the summer make it a great escape from the city. The dark valley makes star watching like none other. This studio unit has a king size bed and a bathroom. Open the sliding glass doors to bring the outside in. With a covered patio, enjoy a bottle of wine and lunch in the shade or while watching a summer monsoon storm roll in.

Visit our historical ranch, built in 1896, and stay in the original adobe cowboy bunkhouse in the Sulphur Springs Valley in southeast Arizona. Enjoy our paintings and western artifacts that we hope will create an atmosphere of days of old. We are surrounded by the American West, mountain views in all directions and incredible sunsets. During the day enjoy the desert colors and views of the Chiricahua, Dos Cabasas, and Dragoon mountains. Relax and watch the birds and wild life that are abundant in the area, bobcats, coyotes, ringtail cats, deer, javelina, quail, rabbits, doves, hawks, owls, and our local roadrunner and his sometime female guest. In the winter you will see thousands of Sandhill Cranes that winter in the nearby Sulfur Springs Valley. In the evenings enjoy our spectacular sunsets and amazing stargazing with clear desert skies. Mi Ranchito is located in the heart of western history. A 50 Minute drive will take you to the Town of Tombstone “The Town too Tough to Die” with its famous Boot Hill Cemetery and loads of history or to Bisbee which was once a thriving silver and copper mining town and its famous “purple pit” which proved to be one of the richest mining sites in the world. There are several smaller ghost towns in the vicinity which were known for mining. It is worth a drive to visit Pearce where you will find the old Pearce jail and an antique and pottery shop run by a wonderful lady named Patty. Right around the corner is Marcia’s Garden Handcrafted Goat Milk Soaps and Lotions and a barnyard of fun goats that you can pet. Do stop by and enjoy some local color. Not much remains of the ghost towns of Gleason and Courtland but there is plenty of hiking and just reflecting on days gone by. A must to see is Cochise Stronghold Canyon, a short drive from the ranch through picturesque pistachio and almond orchards. This was the final refuge for Cochise, the great Chiricahua Apache Chief. This was home to Cochise and his people for many years. The Canyon offers a wide variety of plant life, wildlife and rugged cliffs with many springs and streams, plenty of bird watching, and hiking. Explore the unique ecology and geology of this historical area. Want to go horseback riding? Visit the Triangle T Ranch that has a wonderful restaurant and saloon with entertainment located 10 miles from Mi Ranchito. Enjoy riding in the incredible Texas Canyon with it’s breath taking rock formations and scenic views. Cowboy celebrities such as John Wayne, Will Rodgers and Steve McQueen once walked the grounds of the ranch. OR Bring your own horses to MI Ranchito. We have complete horse facilities which include 2 corrals an arena and fenced property. Or ride trails off property in all directions. There is so much to do besides just relaxing such as: Visit Fort Bowie National Historic Site and learn about the history of the Southwest –Kartchner Caves State Park, the largest wet cavern in the United States and just recently discovered. (highly recommended) –At least a dozen local wineries- The Amerind Foundation Museum – and the Gadson Hotel in Douglas (wonderful restaurant) - Faraway Ranch, one of the oldest ranches in southern Arizona, dates back to pre-Civil War. There is much more but, we will leave this up to your imagination and fortitude.
The ranch is located in a valley surrounded by the Dragoon and Chirachua Mountains. Incredibly beautiful mountain views and sunsets. Property has complete horse facilities with trails going in all directions. Enjoy all that the Arizona high desert offers at 4,500 feet. (Weather is just ideal). Quit and peaceful setting with the nearest neighbor a 1/4 mile away. Nearest convenient shopping is about five miles away. There are two Dollar Stores which are pretty well stocked with everyday needs but, bring any special cooking items you like to use. Make sure you gas-up in Benson or Wilcox because the nearest gas station is about 18 miles.
  • Charming rustic house. Views of the beautiful mountains and great sunsets. Enjoyed staying around all the history of SE Arizona. With so much to do within the area we will be back.

This authentic straw bale home affords privacy and gorgeous views of the mountains. As guests, you will be the only people on these beautiful 20 acres of true wild west. Get away for the weekend, work remotely or do some serious reading and relaxing.
Straw bale house, in the high desert at the foot of the Dragoon Mountains. Two bedrooms in quirky, art-filled, comfortable house, 75 miles from Tucson. Perfect base for hiking, birding, star-gazing, exploring, or just plain snoozing in the hammock. This is a spacious, open, straw-bale/adobe house with two bedrooms, a full bath, living room and dining area, and kitchen. It's in a dramatically beautiful, somewhat remote location, at the foot of the dramatically beautiful Dragoon mountains. The house is in a large (20 acre) lot filled with mesquite and other high desert flora. The house's walls are adobe-covered, stacked straw bales, a traditional local building method that provides excellent insulation in summer and winter. There is internet access but no TV; a stay in this house is probably most attractive to people who enjoy reading, writing, hiking, rock-climbing, bird-watching, and gazing at spectacular sunsets behind the Dragoons - in short, the more unplugged activities! The house is simply furnished and decorated with cool, unique knick-knacks and art. There's a decent kitchen with gas stove, coffee-maker and toaster oven, a washing machine, bathtub with shower, and an outdated entertainment system, including a Playstation 1 that (usually!) plays dvds. There's a nice stereo, and no neighbors close enough to judge or complain about the volume. An hour-and-a-half from Tucson, the house is a 20-minute drive to the nearest gas station, family-dollar store, bar, and produce market, all in the small town of Sun Sites, and is about 30 minutes from the slightly more populated Willcox. Nearby attractions include Cochise Stronghold in the Dragoons, where the Apache Chief Cochise held off the US Army for years in the nearby Coronado National Forest (which offers hiking, camping, and rock-climbing), the Kartchner Caverns (an enormous, beautiful, recently discovered cave - highly recommended), the old mining towns of Tombstone and Bisbee, other ghost towns, The Amerindian Foundation's Museum and Gallery, and the Chiracahua Mountains. Guests have access to the house and the surrounding property, but not the adjacent shop or shed. The owners are not present, but a nearby neighbor is available. A stay in this house is best-suited for those who enjoy the out-of-doors (the weather is typical of the high desert) and the peace and quiet of this very rural location. A car is a must, and it's a great area for biking. Or you could bring your horse.

  • Tony’s strawbale house is an ideal place for visiting the near Dragoon mountains and/or the Chiricahua mountains. It is off the beaten track with nature all around, ideal for artists and writers who need peace of mind and space to do their work. The amenities such as heat and kitchen supplies are adequately provided and maintained. Tony and his brother Julian were always quickly responsive to any questions I had. The house was stylishly decorated with art and photography. Horses are seen grazing in the field and often wander up to the house. I valued the peace of mind and ease. The house is excellent for long term stays, which I did. It was an all around good experience. I look forward to visiting Cochise Stronghold and staying at Tony’s house again.

  • Great place to stay. If you enjoy the out doors and are into hiking, I would highly recommend this place and area. So much to do and see.

  • I decided to head to Cochise at the very last minute and I'm so glad I did! Tony was so gracious enough to accept my last minute booking. If you have an inkling of creativity (even if you don't), I highly recommend Tony's straw bale house! From the decor, sunsets/sunrises, the awesome horses, it was just so inspiring! Plus I loved all of the artistic touches and 90s memorabilia. This home has so much charm/artistry oozing through it! Golden Rule vineyard is about 10 minutes away which is a great trip if you're so inclined. They also have some of the best pistachios I've ever tasted My dog and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I will say, there are spiders the size of your palm (that's no ding on the place, it's the desert, ha!). So just keep your eyes peeled for little critters of that nature. All in all, I'm happy to have spent time here and I would definitely return again!

  • Great place if you like peace and quiet

    Rebecca2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Straw Bale House was a fantastic place to stay! We just loved it. The home itself is really neat, decor is fun, layout is perfect and cozy, and the temperature remains cool during the summer. You have everything you need for cooking, relaxation, and working. Internet works great and the sound system is a nice touch. The property is expansive and ultimately peaceful. Be sure to sit out on the porch drinking coffee in the shade, staring at the mountains or watching the birds. You be lucky if you have any horses there at the time! It was perfect for us and our dog, who loved running around the property. The hosts and caretaker are wonderful and easy to communicate with. Cochise Stronghold is just down the road for great hiking. The majestic otherworldly Chiricahua National Monument is an hour away, free national park. Amazing views and great hiking! Talking Irons Coffee Shop is fantastic. There’s also a local butcher and a produce store to grab some good grub. The comfort level is to the max in this special place. We stayed a month and most certainly will be back!

  • I loved this place! It was exactly as described. Nestled next to the Cochise stronghold, the views were spectacular. The place it’s self was amazing: I’ve never been in a place made of straw. The kitchen had everything I needed, and the neighbors and friends were fabulous. I am definitely coming back here someday.

    Sheryl2019-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to get away from it all. I was looking for some peace and quiet and Tony's place provided that and more. There is plenty of space to wander around outside and take in the beautiful scenery and for those of us not quite ready to completely unplug, Tony's place had a good WiFi connection. I would definitely come again.

    Alexandra2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second stay at Tony & Julian’s place in a few months, so that speaks for itself. As I said in my earlier review, the ranch is the perfect base for hiking and exploring the sky islands and valleys of SE Arizona and the borderlands with Sonora. It’s a stone’s throw from Cochise Stronghold and sits at the foot of the Dragoon Mountains in it’s own very private spot. Wide vistas are everywhere. It’s a great value and if any of these things appeal to you this is the spot for you!

There is a covered back porch and tree canopied front sitting and grilling area. A small decorative pond next to the casita enhances the relaxed ambiance of Tanya's Casita
  • Maxine's place was perfect for our 3 day stay. We hiked the Chiracauhua National Monument and Fort Bowie which we highly recommend. We appreciated the comfy beds and hot shower with great water pressure after a long day of hiking. Dragoon is small but the Amerind Museum and art gallery were both top notch and time well spent. Do check out the picnic area behind the museum. More fantastic landscape to explore there. Communication was quick, check in and out, easy. Maxine and Chad were warm welcoming and a pleasure to meet.

  • What a wonderful place. Everything was perfect about the trip. The grounds are well kept and full of fun touches. Our casita was cozy and nicely appointed. Above all, the hospitality was top notch. We had a wonderful cocktail hour (they had a fully stocked bar) with the hosts and other guests. Breakfast was great. This is really a great place. I highly recommend.

This is a cute guest house in the heart of Cochise county. We are near Tombstone, Bisbee, Sierra Vista, Benson and Kartchner caverns. The house is neat and clean. It contains all of the amenities needed for your enjoyment. Saint David is generally 5 to 10 degrees cooler than Tucson and Phoenix. We have two A/C - Heater units to keep the temperature inside at your comfort level. We now have a laundry room available. Golf clubs available to use at nearby golf courses.
    Large back yard with grass.
Dwelling is at the end of a Paved culdesac.
  • Great, homey, very clean, for a place away from home. Host was on top of every request. Could not have asked for more for our money. Even helped us get a refund when we had to leave because of Coronavirus. Would recommend to anyone.

This cabin lies on the foot of the mountains and is your perfect peaceful retreat getaway. Located in Cochise Stronghold, in the Coronado National Forest, apart of the Dragoon Mountain Range. Named after the home of the Chiricahua Apache Tribe and their famed chief Cochise. Close to hiking trails, rock climbing, and bird watching it is an outdoor lover's dream! Also close to delicious Vineyards in Wilcox for some wine tasting, to make your romantic retreat or weekend getaway memorable!
Welcome to my cozy cabin mountain retreat, this Cabin is your home away from home and I look forward to sharing mine with you! You just may find yourself coming back over and over again. I feel that I am blessed to be a caretaker for the land, and please join me in respecting this beautiful country and our way of life. Please don't litter and pick up after yourself and your fellow man while your out on the trail. The large stone fireplace is the central way of life for us in the winter months, so please be mindful to use only what you need for wood. Its not easy chopping and splitting all those beautiful friends outside under the porch! Thank you for your understanding and taking care of my home while I am away!
This is a campers, hikers, backpackers, and rock climbers PARADISE! Not to mention, world famous bird watching (Eagles, Owls, Sandhill Cranes, Hawks, Mexican blue jays...) This is the mountain retreat getaway is what you've been looking for to reconnect with the natural wonder of this world. Also...you're not too far from a delicious coffee shop that has live music on occasion, or the Famous Wilcox Wineries for some tastings! So there is something for everyone here, whether you hike into the mountains or go wine tasting with you lover for a special occasion, or even for those that never leave the fire place! I look forward to hosting you!
  • This place has stunning views and felt like home. Very quiet and peaceful. We will be back.

  • Place was wonderful and we would recommend it to anyone. I know you don’t go into the mountains to use the internet connection, but the internet connection was better than the one I have at home (which was great for the kids at night). One important thing you should pay attention to (and I think it’s in the description) is that you’ll have to haul your own garbage out. That’s a little bit of a pain depending on how tightly your car is packed. Anyway, we saw lots of animals... javelinas, deer, and even saw signs of mountain lions.

  • This was our second stay at Grant's place and it was just as wonderful as the first time! You can't beat the location. The house is stocked with everything you need to have a fun and comfortable stay. Knowing there was firewood (and being encouraged to use the fireplace) was excellent. Really made our stay cozy and special. If you're wanting to check out this part of southern Arizona, look no further!

  • Wonderful spot nestled in quiet texas canyon with the boulders and the desert. Close to hiking at cochise stronghold which we really enjoyed. Stayed in the yellow cabin. Just perfect for the two of us. Highly recommend the cool nights in January and crystal clear sky. Max and Chad were great hosts.

    Sally2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Maxine and Chad are warm and welcoming hosts. They are thoughtful and respectful, and I enjoyed meeting them on their fun and unique property. The communication between us was quick and courteous, and they helped me to feel confident about my stay. I am an individual who relies on using a wheelchair and stayed alone and felt very comfortable. The casita I stayed in was roomy and perfect for my needs. I planned on observing silence during my stay, and my little casita was positioned in a way that I felt as if I had my own private space away from the others, which made for a perfect setting for a silent retreat. The train was a little off-putting at first, but like most things, you get used to it and eventually you don’t notice it all. I would most definitely stay again and would recommend it to others.

    April2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a true gem not to be missed! Great Casita’s and grounds. And the hosts are wonderful. Located in a beautiful remote area of Arizona. Only an hour from Chiricahua National Monument. We would stay again if we were in the area.

    Linda2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I have been staying at hotels and non-owner-occupied Airbnb's a lot lately, but for this trip we decided to try a B&B for the first time in years--and are we glad we did! Max and Chad were wonderful hosts, and they made us feel at home right away. The cottage was very cute and clean, with plenty of room for the three of us (our adult daughter tagged along for the weekend). We appreciated the many homey, artistic touches found in every room. The breakfasts were low-key but very tasty. Every day we ate out on the beautiful, sun-drenched patio next to the main house, which gave us an excellent opportunity to get to know our hosts and the other guests better--one of the best reasons for staying at a real B&B. The grounds themselves are very peaceful and relaxing, with several small ponds and water features and a colorful variety of flowers and other Southwestern plants. The B&B's location makes it an excellent base for exploring southeastern Arizona, including Kartchner Caverns, the Chiricahua Mountains and Willcox wine country. At night, after a busy day of hiking or sightseeing, we enjoyed soaking in the inflatable hot tub just outside our cottage (it's shared by all of the cottages but no one else used it while we were there). I guess my only complaint is that the property is very close to a Union Pacific freight line and the trains come through a lot. But the nearby crossing is a quiet zone so they aren't allowed to blow their whistles there. After the first night, we really didn't notice the trains at all. The three of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Max and Chad's and we will definitely book the place again whenever we're in the area.

    Todd2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful, eclectic bed n breakfast with a friendly host. We reserved the 2 bedroom casita with one bathroom, which had plenty of room for the two of us. It also had a lovely porch in the front and back so we could sit, talk and just hang out in total privacy. We stayed here for a two night visit so we could be within a short driving distance to Benson, Az, where we visited Kartchner Caverns. Chad, Maxine’s husband, (Maxine was out of the country) came out to greet us as soon as we arrived. He was so conscientious, making sure we had enough towels and confirmed what time we wanted breakfast. But, the #1 attraction is that the property is a feast for the eyes. It is unique, relaxing and very comfortable. It sits on about an acre and has lots of trees, flowers, ponds of rustling water, figurines, some colorful and imaginative objets d’art, kitschy signs, country western tools and symbols, chickens and an international world of art and home, surrounded by the amazing scenery of the Dragoon Mountains! And yes the Caverns were also a #1. There are several casitas to choose from, or you can rent one or more for a family trip. Staying here made our trip so much more enjoyable. I highly recommend it.

  • Hummingbird Ranch is a wonderful place to stay in Arizona. It’s a little remote, but a great location for hiking in the Chiricahua Mountains and Cochise Stronghold, birding, and exploring small towns like Tombstone and Bisbee. Inside the house are maps and brochures to help you decide where to go. The house is very comfortable and clean. Just like the pictures. It has everything you need to enjoy your stay. The kitchen even has lots of spices! Stock up on groceries before you arrive. The landscaping is lovely with lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the wildlife, birds and views. And Renee is super easy to deal with.

  • Susan's home was the perfect month-long destination for us and our two kitties. The house was spacious with plenty of room for us and our cats and working space. The wifi was fast and the kitchen was well stocked. The two bedrooms and bathrooms were large and had dressers and night tables. We loved the screened in patio out the back and the views of the Cochise Stronghold from the front. We were less than a ten minute drive from the Stronghold which we went to often to rock climb. Susan was easily available to talk and very helpful about the house. We will definitely be staying here again when we coem back down to climb again!

  • We arrived at night and didn't get to appreciate where the house was. In the morning we woke up and realuzed we were not even a mile from the Dragoon Mountains. So we spent the next day in there. And the day after that. The house was a welcoming site after hours up in the Cochise Stronghold or mountains around Tucson. Very clean and comfortable. Very quiet. Lots of hot water and cold air conditioning. Very spacious. We really enjoyed our 2 weeks here. Would stay there again, and plan too, if ever in the area again.
