Places to stay in Bont-goch
3-storey spacious house, full of light, with direct access to the 5-mile wide beach of Borth, 5 miles north of Aberystwyth. Great location in the centre of the village, it sleeps 11 people in 5 bedrooms, plus cot. Ideal for relaxed get-togethers.
Facing onto the beach, it's a constant battle with the elements - sea and driving rain have a mind of their own - but our oil-fired boiler, wood-burning stove and/or free-standing heating appliances make it warm and comfortable all year round, whatever the weather. Don't expect the Ritz and you will love it! But then it's Borth, isn't it?
Borth sports a family-friendly surfing beach as well as a petrified forest at low tide, well-stocked convenience stores, a butcher, a surgery, a playground, great bric-a-brac shop and art and craft shops, an “animalarium”, a golf-course, and superb walks across the Cors Fochno (the Borth bog) to the hills behind. Rockpools are 10 minutes walk below the headland at the south of the village; the sand dunes at Ynyslas are a short car-ride or a beautiful walk along the sandy beach towards the Dovey estuary. The coastal walk to Aberystwyth along the cliffs is about 2-3 hours. There are car boot sales at nearby Clarach Bay or Tre'r'dol alternate Sundays during the summer. A variety of cafes and restaurants are open all year round, and three of the four pubs serve food, but when you're watching the sun going down across the sea, you may want to stray no further than the kitchen...
  • The house was spacious, warm and comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped and the view from the kitchen window and conservatory was wonderful. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this house to anyone!

  • We (4 adults, a toddler and 2 dogs) had a great stay in this lovely house. The beachfront location is absolutely stunning. We enjoyed the cosy log burner in the living room and the fantastic sun (Scrabble) room and balcony on the first floor.

  • We had a wonderful time in Corrine’s home. The house exceeded expectations, it was very spacious and was a perfect space to share with the family for a wedding weekend.

The accommodation overlooks a beautiful lake and is comprised of a converted barn which is attached to my main home. It is completely self contained and has a large lounge with log burner, galley kitchen ,fridge, microwave, kettle, halogen oven, toaster ,coffee maker, small oven with grill. It has a mezzanine sleeping area with double bed, wardrobe, sofa, coffee table, large TV and stereo. There is a shower room and toilet. The lake can be seen from all rooms and is a short walk from the house.
The letting space is light and airy with stunning views across the lake .The property faces east and has spectacular sunrises over the lake.
My neighbourhood is quite isolated and is ideal for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle. On a clear night due to the lack of light pollution the night sky is a sight to behold! Devils Bridge which is five minutes away is considered to be an area of outstanding beauty
  • We had a wonderful stay, with some absolutely beautiful sunrises. Check-in was easy, and there was plenty in the area to do for our short two-night stay. The log burner was on when we arrived which was just the best welcome. Would recommend!

  • Maggie provides all you could possibly need for a fantastic stay! Do not hesitate to book, the view of the lake is gorgeous.

  • If you're looking for a cosy place to stay in the peace and beauty of Wales look no further. You will not be disappointed with Maggie's place. It has all you need and more besides. Warmth, comfort, tranquility. Great walks, especially in Hafod Estate and good food at Hafod Inn and Druid Inn. Maggie is friendly and helpful without intruding. Perfect!

    Cathy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for somewhere remote in the countryside but wasn't too far away from civilisation, and Maggie's place was perfect for that. 20 minute drive from Aberystwyth, 10 mins from a couple of great pubs (Hafod Hotel and The Druid Inn are worth a visit) and from Devil's Bridge. Access to the property is fine despite its remoteness and we didn't struggle at all when driving around despite not having the most countryside-friendly car. There is a parking space for a single car in front of the house, off the road. Check-in was easy through the use of a lockbox, and Maggie kept in touch throughout and was easy to contact if needed, for example she set up the fire for us and left some additional logs outside one morning. The place is well-documented in the photos but there is additional furniture and kitchen facilities, such as an electric hob, steamer and slow cooker, which made the small kitchen easy to use as it was a bit of a worry when we booked. The place is best suited for two guests overnight with one double bed, but has plenty of seating/furniture downstairs for additional guests. The bathroom was small but perfectly usable, and we had no problems with any appliances or facilities while we were there. We would highly recommend this place for any couples looking to get away to the countryside, and will definitely be booking again in the future. Thanks Maggie!

  • We came for our honeymoon and had a lovely time (despite storm Dennis, who threatened to ruin the whole thing). We loved the cottage and enjoyed exploring the local area, there was plenty to do and everything we needed was only a short drive away (with stunning scenic views). And when we didn't go out we enjoyed relaxing by the log burner. Maggie was a wonderful host and we couldn't have asked for a nicer stay. Thank you!

    Ksenia2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely romantic cottage. Maggie is a super host, very helpful and quick in replying queries. The log fire is the highlight of our holiday, we enjoyed it a lot. Makes our stay warm and cozy even the night storm Ciara hit the place. Thank you Maggiexxx

    Melba2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We were planning to spend a relaxing weekend somewhere nice and cosy and Maggie's place was everything we wished for and more! The cottage has so much character and it's full of lovely touches. We loved spending time in there, enjoying the crackling fire or going out for a walk around the lake. I would highly recommend it for everyone, who appreciates the quiet countryside and beautiful landscapes.

    Emoke2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie's place was perfect for a weekend getaway. The space was really cosy and comfortable with everything we could possibly need. Although we didn't meet Maggie in person she was really helpful and communicative, and her daughter Emma came over to help us with the log burner! The location is very secluded and peaceful with stunning views of the countryside. We loved curling up by the fire with a board game in the evenings. We'd definitely visit again!

The lovely, comfortable Lotus Belle tent is pitched in the picturesque village of Goginan, surrounded by gorgeous views, great walks and cycle tracks. It's one mile from the 2017 award winning Druid Inn, known for it's good food (not Tues) and real ales and a pleasant walkable two miles from the Exchange Stores village shop. The vibrant seaside town of Aberystwyth, with it's Victorian promenade, is just seven miles away.
You’ll enjoy great views of the Melindwr valley, often with red kites flying above you! You will have your own private little garden with a fire bowl/barbeque. The hot tub is similarly secluded - hidden by a big apple tree covered in roses, wisteria and clematis. The kitchen (with electricity) and toilet are yours exclusively during your stay and are a few yards from your tent. We have an outside gas bottle shower by the hot tub, but ( PLEASE NOTE ) no actual inside shower. The tent has a porch for your muddy shoes and the wood burner keeps you cosy on cold nights! The tent has no electricity - but lanterns are more fun! The king-size bed is made of two 2' 6" beds and so can be split to accommodate two guests who wish to sleep separately. The tent could accommodate one extra person who would have an inflatable mattress. A travel cot and high chair can be ready if you have a baby. Good for couples, friends, small families or on your own!
In Goginan, you will be very close to the wonderful Devil's Bridge waterfalls and the Bwlch Nant-yr-Arian Forest Visitor Centre and red kite feeding area. You can walk straight out of my garden and onto mapped paths into the surrounding hills! You can borrow maps from me if you wish. As well as having two cinemas, lots of restaurants, bars and coffee shops, Aberystwyth town's attractions include: the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway, (funicular), a Victorian camera obscura at the top of Constitution Hill, the Vale of Rheidol steam railway (Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge), Aberystwyth Arts Centre, the Parc Penglais nature reserve, the Ystwyth Trail cycle path, National Library of Wales AND THE BEACH!
  • Had a wonderful stay in Louise's tent; the tent is lovely and cosy with the log burner and Louise provides loads of blankets, candles and hot water bottles to make sure you're super cosy. The bathroom and kitchen are very close to the tent so it's not a late night trek! The tent, firepit and hot tub are even more secluded than I thought they would be - you've got total privacy in Louise's garden which makes it even more special. An honesty shop on site makes it easy to buy extra logs, and the kitchen has all the essentials (tea, coffee, oil, pots, etc). Aberystwyth is only up the road and I'd highly recommend Medina for lunch/dinner. There's a friendly local pub in the village The Druid Inn for a pint. Louise is a great host and I'd happily recommend her, the tent and this beautiful part of the country!

    Michael2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Louise's place is lovely. Very cosy and private. It was the perfect romantic weekend away. The tent itself was very clean and warm, and the hot tub was brilliant. Thanks Louise, we will definitely be coming back!

  • Amazing place. Hot tub in the evening. Romantic. Camp fire amazing. Perfect for a couple and perfect host. Personalised birthday card. Made it special. We coming back soon !!!

    Louise2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic 2 night stay here, great location with stunning surroundings, Louise has everything you need and more, plenty to see and do in the local area and we hop to comeback again sometime!

    Matty2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Louise is such a fantastic host! She showed us around the amenities on arrival but then left us to it. Her garden is very private and quiet. The Lotus Belle tent is just stunning and the bed is like sleeping on a cloud, even the pillows are gorgeous memory foam! Everything is lovely and clean. Louise really has thought of everything you might need for your stay, with ample amounts of crockery, glasses, pots and pans and a fully stocked first aid kit. The hot tub is a wonderful luxury and the firepit is perfect for toasting marshmallows over. The inside wood burner makes the tent very cosy and the fairy lights are such a magical touch. Nice big bath towels provided and extra blankets and hot water bottles in case it drops colder. You really do feel close to nature as the garden is next to a field of sheep. We will definitely be back next year!

    Milly2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little bell tent perfect for two , tent and hot tub felt very private will be visiting again 5* 😜🍻

Tree lined, one street away from the beach, restaurants and dining. Close to nightlife, public transport and family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the location and the views from the top of the house to the National Library and University. Recently refurbished museum and tourist information centre at one end of the street and the public library and grassed seating area at the other.
The house was a Carmelite Brethren home when we purchased it in 2005. It has been completely renovated by ourselves to all required specifications for fire, sound and heat conservation and has a peaceful interior. The apartment on the top floor provides solitude and comfort.
  • We return to Aber frequently during our travels back to the UK from Australia and usually stay in B&Bs or small hotels. On our most recent visit, however, we decided to enjoy a longer stay in Aber and booked Heather’s apartment – our first experience using AirBnB. We’d had good communication with Heather before our arrival and it’s worth noting that the timing of our travel was unfortunate as it coincided with the early stages of the UK’s lockdown amidst the coronavirus crisis.. Arriving at the apartment, we were warmly welcomed by Heather and shown to the apartment at the top of her Victorian building. We were pleased to find the apartment more spacious than it looked from the photos and with every convenience we could need for our week’s stay. Heather made it clear she was here to help and we immediately felt at home here. The apartment has a good-sized kitchen with full cooking facilities, fridge/freezer and washing machine. There was plenty of utensils, cookware and crockery to make cooking here very feasible (very handy when all the cafes and restaurants in town were closed due to coronavirus!). The living area was comfortable and the wi-fi was strong and reliable throughout our stay. A small but functional bathroom (shower only) and separate bedroom completed the package. The skylights in the main kitchen/living area ensured plenty of light and warmth from Spring sunshine during our stay, while the heating was very effective for the cooler evenings. The location is perfect, just steps from the main shopping areas of town and only minutes from the Prom, you really can’t get any more central than this in Aber. Parking is never easy in Aber and we opted to use the North Road clinic carpark about five minutes’ walk away rather than battle for street parking. We were very happy with our stay in this apartment – it’s clean, has everything you need for a self-contained stay and is in a great location to enjoy all Aber has to offer. We couldn’t have asked for more from Heather, she was the perfect host and made us feel incredibly welcome. We certainly appreciated this safe haven in Aber during the madness of the coronavirus pandemic and would highly recommend this apartment for a couple looking to spend time in this beautiful seaside town.

    Lee2020-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great apartment, with all the required facilities. On the 4th floor so a few flights of stairs, but the close proximity to the town and all the amenities easily made up for that. Limited parking so be prepared to pay for parking or take the gamble of finding an all day spot near by. We got fairly lucky!

    Robert2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location, cosy and spotlessly clean! Perfect for a quiet and chilled weekend away. Heather is a great host :)

  • This is a small, but fantastically laid out place. Super clean and Heather is a fab host, excellent communicator. The flat is really handy for all the amenities of Aberystwyth. We’ll be back!

This 2 bedroom apartment is right in the heart of Aberdovey. It has fantastic sea views and is immediately opposite the beach. It is beautifully decorated and well equipped, with convenient parking nearby. All the ingredients for a fantastic holiday!
The apartment is on the second floor of a four-storey building. There is an open plan sitting/dining room and kitchen, with a large bay window looking across the beach and estuary. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, and a washing machine with dryer. The first bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has bunk beds (full size so suitable for adults or children). In the bathroom, there is a bath with a shower and a heated towel rail. The apartment is well equipped for small people. There is a travel cot, a highchair and a hand blender.
Aberdovey is a gorgeous town. The highlight is, of course, the beach - four miles of beautiful sand, backed by sand dunes and an eighteen-hole links golf course. There is plenty to do around the town. For the active visitor, there is an impressive range of activities - putting green, tennis courts, crab fishing, walks, kite flying, playground/swings, tennis, bowls, golf, sailing and loads more. Aberdovey is also a lovely place to potter around, with a range of beautiful shops (clothes, gifts, artwork), nice coffee shops, pubs, butcher, convenience store, deli etc. Further afield, there are great day trips. One of our favourite ‘days out’ is to walk along the beach to Tywyn (takes about an hour and a half), where there is a lovely café for lunch. You can then walk or get the train back. Other day trips include the Dolgoch Falls, Talyllyn Railway, the Centre for Alternative Technology, the Bearded Lake and plenty more.
  • Wonderfully comfortable apartment with everything we needed, and a view that was wonderful to see first thing every morning! The free parking just across the road is a real bonus too. Lots of amazing beach walks and some lovely little places to eat & drink.

A lovely old renovated cottage with inglenook fireplace, wood burning stove and mezzanine. It is well equipped for your stay as I have tried to make it a home from home for you. There will always be some welcome goodies and you can sleep in snuggly beds made with 100% cotton or organic cotton sheets and feather and down duvets. The cottage is situated in the pretty wooded Dulas valley near the historic town of Machynlleth, close to Snowdonia and the sea.
The cottage is south facing and is full of light, even on dull days. We love books and plants so have filled the space with them for you to enjoy. There is a secluded and sheltered garden behind the cottage - a patio with garden furniture and a woodland walk leading to a summer house where you can do a spot of bird watching (binoculars provided) and in the colder months we put out bird feeders. There is a shed where you can keep your bikes if you bring them and a padlock is available if you need it. We hope that guests will be happy and contented in the cottage whatever the weather and season - you are very welcome here
Machynlleth has many independent shops and is a lovely place to spend your time. On Wednesdays there is an historic market on the main street where you can buy many local products. The Dyfi Valley is very special - mountains, the sea, fantastic walks and bike rides to discover. We've lived here for a long time so have lots of information about the area. Jean loves walking and there are maps and guide books in the cottage. The lovely resort of Aberdyfi is a short drive away as is the bird reserve at Ynys hir and the coastal reserve at Ynys las.
  • We booked this cottage for a relaxing break away from the city and could not have been happier with our stay in the stunning Welsh countryside. The cottage was beautiful, full of character and well equipped with everything we needed. Very sweet homely touches and Jean was a fantastic host. The area is perfect for walking straight from the door or a quick drive to the National Park. Can not wait to come back. I would highly recommend!

    Natalie2020-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage, could be straight from a fairy tale. We really enjoyed the quiet nights next to the fire place and the cosy atmosphere. Hopefully we'll be able to come again in the future.

    Richard2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect weekend spent in the cottage. Jean had left a box of chocolates for arrival which was a nice touch, the place was clean and tidy. Much bigger than we expected and lots of character. We also found a book of local walks amongst the huge amount in the cottage and followed one of these for a nice trail run. Great weekend! Thanks!!

    Lewis2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing stay. From the moment we booked until the moment we left. The house is gorgeous, spacious and clean. Jean was the perfect host and was always at the end of the phone. I would highly recommend this hidden gem to everyone looking for a relaxing get away. Will definitely be returning

    Laura2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in a semi-remote area. Ideal for chilling out in front of the wood burning stove in winter or a good base for exploring more of this beautiful part of Wales. Lots of books and magazines to read and a reasonably well equipped kitchen makes self catering an easy option.

    Howard2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous cottage just outside of Machynlleth. Jean was a fantastic host, really helpful and friendly and even left a little welcome pack with home made jam and chocolate. The cottage is peaceful and has a massive living space and two comfortable bedrooms, amazing value for money.

    Dan2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Jean was absolutely perfect, despite going during Storm Dennis! We had everything we need to hunker down and be warm and snug . You are not far from Mach, so we could get anything we needed, and get back to our cute cottage all tucked away! There are many thoughtful touches, and it really felt special arriving and seeing how welcomed we were. Could not recommend enough! Thank you Jean for making our trip to Wales so special

Unique refurbished old fisherman's cottage located in the heart of the town which pre-dates all the buildings around it. The cottage has a captain's bed (small double raised off the floor accessed by a ship's ladder) and open fire, under floor heating, kitchen sink and shower/WC. Small garden/patio area with table and chairs. Guests are welcome to use the fully equipped kitchen in the main house. '

  • A really nice place to stay in the centre of Aberystwyth. I didn't get a chance to light the fire, but it was really nice of Ian to prepare it. The cottage has everything you'd need, and is nice and warm (I visited on a cold weekend in March). I hope to visit again.

  • Loved this place. Wish I could have stayed longer.

    K2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was brief but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Ian was a very friendly and accommodating host and the cottage itself was really sweet and bursting with character. Having the fireplace ready to go was a very nice touch and the underfloor heating is just wonderful on a chilly winter morning. Thanks Ian!

    Dan2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage, very warm and cosy. The bed was very comfortable and plenty of room for 2 of us. Shower was very nice and the kettle and tea and coffee is a nice addition. Ian was very friendly and welcoming.

    Amy2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect hideaway if visiting friends and you want a bolthole when not wanting to be sociable. My jack russell appreciated almost instant access to the beach of a morning, and I loved the cosy setup and the open fire which was great to curl up in front of at night. Ian and family were very friendly hosts given I was accessing the cottage over Christmas. I'll definitely book again if staying in Aber.

    Hannah2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Ian is a very friendly host who go above and beyond to make sure your stay is great. We had a little trouble parking initially but Ian helped us find a space. He also went out of his went out just to get is logs so that we could use the fireplace. He also gave us local tips for veggie food which was much appreciated. We had a fantastic stay!

    Anna-Elyse2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Ian’s cottage is unique and very fun! Having lived in Aber on and off for years I can definitely say it’s the most unique accommodation I’ve had there. I especially loved the fireplace! The place would be a bit small for two I think, though it could definitely work if you were comfortable sleeping very closely and if no one was afraid of heights! The bed is lofted quite high but it was nice and comfortable. The heated floors are a nice touch, and the water in the shower was nice and hot. I really liked sitting on the floor in front of the fireplace reading. The cottage is historic and really interesting, and the location is absolutely perfect: right in the center of town but not near any pubs or other areas that tend to be loud late at night. Diolch o galon, Ian!

    Kate2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • great location near promenade. Made to feel welcome in the house. Lovely open fire and space with kettle and microwave. Must be able to climb a ladder to bed!

  • Cosy cottage which is 30 minutes walk from Aberystwyth and a great base from which to attempt the coastal path which offers some beautiful views. The accommodation is well equipped and the hosts very quick in communicating. Would thoroughly recommend it.

  • Cosy little place that was clean and tidy. Good range of amenities provided for a comfortable stay. Communication with hosts was great. Location is great, close to a petrol station. Not far from supermarket and town. Good base for exploring further afield whilst avoiding town traffic. Parking is a little awkward but there were very good instructions given before we arrived

  • So comfortable and cosy in this lovely little house, Stephen and Elaine have covered everything the guest might need and more. The electric recliner chairs in particular are just wonderful, the house snug and warm, sumptuous towels, toiletries, teas, coffee... in fact I can only describe my stay here as luxurious. It's in a quiet and peaceful area about a mile or so from Aberystwyth town centre and convenient for the nearby retail park for shopping etc. I cannot recommend this property enough.

    Tony2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent accommodation - clean and comfortable and with everything you might need. Extremely helpful and friendly hosts. Would stay there again.

  • Stephen & Elaine's house is a very welcoming and cosy cottage in Aberystwyth, well located for the town and the university. The space is generous for 3 people (one double bedroom and one single) and all expected facilities in the kitchen and living room. You could cook full meals in the kitchen, and the living room is comfortable and has a huge TV. Parking is easy and the hosts are very helpful and quick to respond. We would definitely stay again.

  • Wonderful clean and cosy house that was a pleasure to stay in. My flight was delayed and the hosts were flexible about my entry time and even offer to collect me from the station if I couldn't find a taxi!

A beautifully light, compact room with your own private entrance, brand new bathroom and breakfast facilities. The house is situated in an extremely peaceful and picturesque part of Ceredigion. As we are in a rural location, mobile phone signal is limited and WiFi can be intermittent. We back on to local woods with miles and miles of truly stunning walking options. Aberystwyth is 10 miles away with local pubs and facilities around 5 miles away.
A truly peaceful place to spend a few days with the benefit of Aberystwyth being easily accessible. The ability to walk from our doorstep in every direction and spend the day in the most stunning countryside.
  • Clean and tidy room with nice comfy beds. Communication was top notch. We would recommend this place for exploring the countryside as it’s got lovely surroundings

    Robyn2020-03-22T00:00:00Z

We live in a friendly family home and are happy to welcome guests to this beautiful area in west Wales. We are set in a peaceful village just outside the University Town of Aberystwyth which has plenty to see with many great Bars and Restaurants. This very picturesque area is great for walking or just relaxing and taking in the scenery
We are lucky to live 500 feet above sea level. Very close by are beautiful short walks for those who prefer a quiet stroll. Nearby there are cycle paths and mountain bike trails for those who prefer to get out on a bike ride. And for those who prefer something a little more strenuous there are walks that can take several hours to complete. We are very lucky to live in such a beautiful, accessible part of the county.
  • Kind and thoughtful hosts. Excellent accommodation. Couldnt ask for more.

Vicky made me feel welcome, Carl and I had a chat over an early morning coffee. Would recommend this B&B to anyone wanting to be close to Aberystwyth but not right in the town where it can be noisy.

A renovated 4 bedroom farmhouse in a beautiful rural setting. Only 7 miles from Aberystwyth, Mynydd Gorddu is in a tranquil location with spectacular panoramic views. The perfect base for a hiking, biking, fishing or beach holiday. Family friendly, the house has a large enclosed garden with a climbling frame and sand pit, and a new hot tub for summer 2019. Edrychwn ymlaen i'ch croesawu - we look forward to welcoming you!
The farmhouse is on the doorstep of the small village of Bontgoch, which has beautiful walks and a new children's playground. Penrhyn-coch is a 5 min drive away and has a garage, a shop and a post office. There is also another playground, a football club (which has a good Sunday Carvery) and Gogerddan woodland walk on its outskirts. The University town of Aberystwyth is 7 miles away and boasts many tourist attractions. The Castle ruins, Constitution Hill and the seafront and its Victorian promenade are all worth a visit. There is a bustling high street full of independent shops as well as larger department stores on the outskirts. We can recommend plenty of great places to eat out in Aber too. Also only a short drive from Mynydd Gorddu are the coastal villages of Borth and Ynyslas with their picturesqe beaches and sand dunes. Find out more at http://www.discoverceredigion.co.uk/English/where/towns/Pages/Aberystwyth.aspx
  • Superb cottage in the welsh countryside. Close to both Borth and Aberystwyth. The cottage is full of character and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Log fire and hot tub are an added bonus. Elen was a great host, great communication from the start and we appreciated her allowing us an early check in. Highly recommend and we would book again for sure!

  • Amazing house and views, pictures do not do the place justice!

    Tom2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had an enjoyable weekend at Elen's place. Storm Denis was causing havoc outside but inside was warm and cosy. Lots of nice features and touches in the cottage. Nice big wood stove to sit around in the living room and a big dining table to eat and play games. The hot tub was fun. We took our grown up kids, partners and mother in law, eight of us and we all had a great time.

    Mike2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful and had everything we needed for a great New Year celebration. Hot tub was great and the living room was really cosy. Elen is lovely, friendly and attentive and left us to enjoy the house knowing she was there if needed. Would love to stay again!

This is a recently refurbished single bedroom with locking door for your privacy. There's a TV in the room, with towels provided. It's a mature, quiet home for people who want to relax.
The house is overlooking the Rheidol Valley, about one mile from the centre of town with frequent bus links nearby and shopping facilities very local.

Located in the stunning and remote 'Artists Valley' (with Beavers) this charming Self Contained Space is in a 75 acre conservation and permaculture site. With unparalleled views, an ideal base for walking, enjoying nature and rural family retreats.
This cosy Cottage is centrally heated with radiators which are on constantly (please let us know if you are too warm!), is well insulated and gets lovely and homely. There is also a heater in the bathroom :) Upstairs, there is a very large bedroom than can sleep up to 5 (very good!) friends or a young family but is better suited to couples. In the bedroom there is a hand basin with hot running water, a wardrobe and chest of drawers for you to use. The double bed has an electric blanket and there is a TV (which you can chose to completely ignore!) with freesat channels and a DVD player. Wifi is available in the beautiful Breakfast Room next door - and there is an (moody!) ethernet connection upstairs in the Cottage itself (please bring a laptop with an Ethernet port) but there is a good Wifi signal in both the Gazebo and the Breakfast room. Our connection here at the end of the Valley can on occasion, be temperamental - so just in case, best not to rely on it for life and death situations... but it is normally more than adequate to check emails, download films and make internet video calls. We hope that you will be so busy enjoying the stunning natural landscape that you may forget the internet - just for a moment xxx ;) There is no washing machine in the Cottage, but for those on longer stays (5 days or more), please ask at the main house, and we would be happy to help - £10 for a service wash and dry x The double bed is made up with fresh linens for each stay and extra blankets are supplied in abundance. Linens and towels will be changed once a week for folk on longer stays. If you require additional bedding, sheets and pillowcases etc (for larger groups using the extra sofa bed etc.), we are happy to do so (although they will most likely not match at all!) for a laundry fee of £6 per person. Although there is no open fire in Narnia itself, directly opposite the South facing door is a stunning octagonal glass Gazebo, with a comfy sofa and wood- burning stove - you would have sole use of the Gazebo when you book Narnia! 10 metres from your door, it is a gorgeous space to sit and read, do your emails, share bottle of wine, muse over a jigsaw, knit something or chat indoors.... but outdoors at the same time ;) ...................and it really does get toasty in there in winter with the fire going! - we can provide you with some nice dry wood - please ask for details. It is an amazing place to be in crazy weather! - right in the middle of it, yet warm and dry all at once :) Please note that although the Gazebo is lovely, it is an outdoor structure and the floor can get damp after heavy rain (but the sofa stays dry!) and although we do suck up spider webs regularly, there will always be a few :) The Gazebo is supplied with some dry firewood but we charge £10 per barrow load if you need more. In addition to exploring the whole Permaculture and Conservation site, you would also be able to make the most of our new 'Breakfast Room' - a 10 metre Conservatory with glass on 3 sides, tables and chairs to sit at and comfy sofas at the other end. This gorgeous space is for use by everyone at Blaeneinion and is perfect to relax in or check emails on wetter days - please see the photos :) There are lots of plants, a stereo system, some childrens toys (wooden train set has been a big hit!) jigsaws, a piano and a growing and eclectic mixture of books to enjoy. It is a great spot to enjoy looking out at the stars in the evening or enjoying a glass of wine after a long days walking and exploring :) The breakfast room is super-hot on Summer days and comfortably warmed by even the merest sunshine even in Winter.... the stone wall internally retains heat like a big storage heater well into the evenings. Please ask if you would like eggs or fresh produce produced on site (chickens lay much less in Winter though x) For young families -please let us know if need to borrow our travel cot :) Please note that the £7 per night surcharge for extra guests also applies however small the people are, so BABIES AND TODDLERS ARE COUNTED AS AN EXTRA GUEST. Over the past few years we have found that families with young children tend to use more heating and hot water, need travel cots and often more cleaning x We love hosting children so have remarkable facilities for young families - toys, instruments and games, super gentle and friendly animals, a fire pit for toasting marshmallows, kayaks and food that can be foraged on site! ... to make all this possible and enable inspiring and memorable family holidays, all we ask is a small surcharge of £7 per night per person to cover costs. PLEASE ENTER 'INFANTS' as 'CHILDREN OVER 2' in the booking process to make sure it all goes through correctly (I am in an ongoing discussion with Airbnb about all this) It is uncomfortable for us and for you if I to have to ask guests for a surcharge for their little one after a booking request is made :0( Lets all continue making this place special for folk of all ages!
Our neighbourhood is very quiet, secluded and tranquil. The air is clean, you can see the stars and we never hear sirens!
  • If you havent booked already... do it now! It is the most amazingly peaceful, tranquil retreat! The grounds are just beautiful and there are many walks to be had straight from the cottage. There is no need to travel anywhere if you dont need to. Sharon and the team are an absolute delight and make you feel very welcome. Definitely recommend!

    Simone2020-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon's place is the perfect place to really get away from it all. OK, it does have an ethernet cable, but I found getting up early to go beaver watching far preferable to logging in to the computer. There are lovely walks right from the property (if you go to the lakes, follow the white ribbons) as well as a little further afield. The place is charming, so go (when the government allows you to) and re-charge your batteries. Enjoy :)

    Juliet2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, the hosts hospitality is brilliant with great communication and a lovely welcome guide with reccomendations of the local area. There are two towns in driving distance which arent very big, however if its a calm, idylic senic holiday you want then this place is great.

    Maisy2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing spot and lovely project, even in the driving wind and rain! No beavers sighted, interesting to learn more about them and see their work. Best of luck to Sharon and team for the year ahead, hopefully storms are behind us now...and this place is a perfect escape for 'social distancing' if that's what you're after!

    Charlotte2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Narnia . The cottage was lovely with the added bonus of the outside ‘ hut’ area with a couple of sofas a wood burner and star gazing galore! The grounds are wonderful and the animals Thank you Sharon

    Zoe2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fab, quirky cottage in great location

    Kate2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal location to get away from it all, so nice to go off grid and wander around the hills and woods (even in winter). Lovely food on site, but worth getting some basics first. You won't find many better hosts than Sharon !

    Peter2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for an experience that gives inspiration and hope. You need to visit .The Narnia cottage at Blaeneinion was a complete delight. The cottage itself is very cosy and feel so comfortable .The fact that it is set in a wonderful permaculture success story is as magical as Narnia. Sharon is a delightful funny and inspiring host who has created a wonderland . The bonus on top of it all was food foraged from a garden and eaten in February. I was amazed and delighted by it all.

Efficient heating which was great as even though the weather was good it was nice to come back to such a cosy space. Love the slate wall/fireplace but sadly no need to use log burner. Garden area, looks great too, but we didnt use that either. Spent most of our time on the beach as our 7month puppy who couldnt get enough of it! Great communication from Lisa too

The cottage has direct access to the river and the waterfall from which it takes it's name, Swn Y Ffrwd (sound of the stream). The cottage has recently undergone a four year renovation, uncovering and restoring numerous original features, including slate and wooden floors, exposed beams and stone walls. The cottage has kept a traditional feel but with contemporary features including underfloor heating, full height ceilings, fully equipped kitchen and a log burning fire. Entering the rear of the cottage, the hallway leads off to a downstairs shower room/ wc (perfect for returning from muddy walks!!), then leading on to the rest of the house. Walking from the hallway to the kitchen you pass the utility room with sink and washing machine. The bright and spacious kitchen is fully equipped, enabling you to cook for an entire family. The kitchen follows through to the oldest part of the house, with open plan lounge and dining room (ideal for cosy evenings by the fire!!). The original feature stairs lead up from the lounge to the first floor landing, off which the double bedroom, single/ twin bedroom and double shower room/ wc can be found. The sun rises on the front of the cottage, flooding the bedrooms with morning sunlight and setting at the rear, overlooking the valley (great for an evening drink!!) Towels and linen provided. WiFi password for the superfast broad band is available on request for free.
The cottage is located in a small rural hamlet on a quiet road. The village has a small playground and church. Aberystwyth and the local area has recently been voted the best place for walking in the UK. There are numerous foot paths directly from the cottage and map is provided to use during your stay.
  • This little cottage is comfy, cosy, warm and spotless clean. It is in a very peaceful location, a car is a must. Chris, the host replies quickly and was very friendly and welcoming. Perfect spot for peaceful relaxing getaway.

  • The house has been very tastefully renovated and in a beautiful location. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to escape and get into the Welsh country side.

    Lauren2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place to escape, relax and enjoy the Welsh countryside.

    Jo2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage and great host. A great choice to have an authentic Welsh Cottage experience with some off grid flavour. A valued airbnb host.

    Clint2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Chris's cottage, walking the hills in the sunshine and reading in the rain (indoors!). The kitchen was really nice, and underfloor heating kept feet warm throughout the ground floor. The only odd thing was a lack of blinds/curtains on the bathroom windows. Other than that, perfect for us.

    Jamie2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was both peaceful and comfortable. I really liked cottage itself, the recent renovations were obviously done with sensitivity in regards to the cottages age. The children made the most of the playground opposite, the stream and the waterfall. I think the lack of WiFi, phone signal etc allows you to properly switch off.

    Faye2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Chris's tastefully renovated cottage is a great combination of traditional Welsh charm and modern comforts, with a well equipped kitchen and excellent shower. Highly recommended for those looking for some peace and quiet - it's an excellent place to relax. This is the second time I have stayed at Chris's place, and I expect I will be back again soon!

    Joe2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • The house of Chris is very old and from the inside really great! Renovated, so that you really feel very comfortable. The surrounding area is ideal for walking and the Irish Sea is also within easy reach. We had a great time with our kids here.

Our house is a family home located in a quiet residential area about one mile from Aberystwyth town. Your room has a king size bed and a single bed and should you need it, we also have a travel cot which you can use. We have private off road parking and you can gladly use our living spaces and kitchen. Additionally, we have a bathroom, a shower room and a separate toilet. There is wi-fi running throughout the house As a family home, it comes fully equipped with all kitchen equipment We have lived here for about 15 years or so but are back and forth as we currently work in Cardiff so we may or may not be here during your stay. If we aren't available, please don't worry as we have family living locally who will help you with anything you need
It's really quiet here. It's got a shop and a chip shop within 100 yards but otherwise, it's residential apart from a secondary school which is just down the road. Traffic can get heavy at school time but it's quiet at all other times You can walk to Aberystwyth town within about 25 minutes - downhill - and if you're anything like me, 2 hours uphill. Alternatively, there are hourly buses or taxis which cost about £5 The Arts Centre is about a 10 minute walk away and the National Library of Wales is 15 minutes or so. Both are really lovely places with stunning views. Bluebell woods re also about 10 minutes away

Log burner for heating once you have finished rambling . Not double glazed! Or sleep Infront of the log burner when it's cold. Ideal location for ramblers/hiking/bikers or mountain biking, dropping kids off at University. Relaxing break away from it all or even a long stay in the summer months. Hot shower and a place to cook. We are flexible on checking in times. Please note that it is cold in the mornings in the caravan.
Very quiet area unless it is windy. As the caravan is south facing it does get hit by winds which can be quite excillarating. Perfect as a base for exploring the area or just isolating yourselves. Mountain bike tracks not far away. Not far from the coast and local sights.
  • Great little gem with an amazing log burner and a great host! Tony was very welcoming and had even started a fire to warm up the caravan. All the amenities you need and great views, couldn’t have asked for more! Very easy to find with Tony’s directions, and a great location to explore this part of Wales and have a relaxing time.

We are situated on a working farm a mile from the beautiful seaside village of Aberdyfi in the Snowdonia National Park. Great location for cycling, running, walking or just plain and simply chilling to the sound of the sea, birds and sheep. Aberdyfi is a very beautiful but busy seaside village with 4 miles of sandy beach to enjoy. The caravan is definately in a location where the mountain meets the sea with nothing to obscure the view, and no wifi to distract, a great place to rest and escape.
We do not have wifi or mobile signal, a real escape from modern day life. Please note that we do NOT provide towels either. Beds will be made up ready for the number of guests booked. Dogs are welcome.
We are very fortunate to be in the most southerly point of the Snowdonia National Park with its amazing landscape, great walks, beautiful mountains including Cader Idris and the Arans are within easy reach, mountain bike centres including Coed y Brenin, ClimachX and Nant yr Arian are a short drive away. Aberdyfi's famous 18hole Golf Course is 3/4 of a mile away, you can in fact see it from the lounge window.
  • Beautifully quiet with a view of the ocean from my caravan. Totally off grid with absolutely no telephone signal, a wonderful place to truly escape.

A spacious comfortable converted barn, perfect for a couple, in an idyllic location with stunning views across the Ystwyth valley. Great for a quiet stay exploring the area, or birdwatching, but also close to many places of interest.
The barn has its own small garden and entrance, and includes a small kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge and washing machine; bath/shower, separate wc, large open beamed sitting/dining room, with double bedroom leading off it. It combines traditional features with modern comfort.
This is a very peaceful Welsh farming community, close to the historic Hafod estate, 4 miles from the waterfalls and steam railway at Devil's Bridge and next to the scenic mountain road which leads to the Elan Valley lakes, a popular walking and cycling destination. Aberystwyth is 15 miles away and the beaches at Borth can be reached in 50 minutes. Well equipped kitchen and living room with a sofa and a study desk. There is a TV but no TV licence but lots of DVDs to choose from. Newly renovated property in the centre of Aberystwyth, two minutes walk from the train station and one minute walk to the marina, very clean and well located for all that Aberystwyth can offer.
A clean spacious bedroom, with the use of our kitchen for heating and storing food, microwave only.
Bridge street is situated on the south side of Aberystwyth and a 2 minute walk to south beach and the marina. Town centre is a 2 minute walk along bridge street. From the railway station it’s a 4-5 minute walk. As it’s a town centre some nights may be a little noisy.
  • It was a perfect place to be to visit my daughter at the university. Glyn and his family were very trusting, they offered a very clean and fresh space to stay and shared their home so openly. Brilliant access to the town, the sea and the sunsets! Would recommend!

My flat is quite basic, the convenience of being located in town by all the amenities is its unique selling point!

  • Fay's place is perfectly located- 4 min walk from the train station, 5 min walk from the beach and literally 30 seconds into town. It was the best located airbnb I've ever had actually! Fay is very communicative and kind. I felt very comfortable staying with her. Some parts of the flat were a bit messy and the pub across the road can get somewhat loud (but nothing too crazy), nevertheless, you can't go wrong staying with Fay- you will have a kind, understanding, and communicative host, a very comfortable and clean bed and bathroom, and a phenomenal location. Highly recommend!

On the first and third Saturday of every month there’s a bustling farmers’ market in town. If you ever saw the TV series The Prisoner, you’ll recognise Portmeirion. This quirky and unique village was the brainchild of one man, Clough Williams-Ellis, and is now one of Wales’ leading tourist attractions. Why not take a guided walking tour? A stay at Wisteria Cottage puts you amongst some lovely gardens, not to mention acres of woodland and country walks to enjoy. But if you want to see more gardens, we recommend Aberglasney. The gardens here featured in the BBC series “A Garden Lost in Time” and there are 10 acres of magnificent vistas, plants and beds to explore. Picture a beach and the chances are you’ll be thinking of something like Penbryn. The beach here is almost one mile of golden sands, with a café and a shop too. If you’d like to get a bit more active on the water, you can try windsurfing, hire dinghies or paddleboards and more at Cardigan Bay Watersports. If you’re looking for a great day out, a journey north to Snowdonia takes you to Blaenau Ffestiniog, where you can visit a unique slate mine and see what it was like to be a Victorian miner. Or closer to home you’ll find Llanerchaeron, an elegant Georgian villa with a walled garden and traditional working farm. For additional inspiration on what to do within the area, please click here.

  • Jane and Bob were very welcoming hosts, providing wealth on information about the local area, which is absolutely stunning. The accommodation was comfortable, with all necessities and more, we had our privacy and access to the garden. It was a nice place to retreat to out of the rain and warm up. More places are left to explore, I would definitely stay there again.

  • A lovely peaceful haven in the Welsh countryside; the flat is equipped with everything you need, and was spotlessly clean. We really appreciated the tips on local walks and coffee shops from Jane and Bob.

  • Lovely accommodation in Devils Bridge and conveniently located for the Sweet Lamb stage of the GB Rally. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, toasty warm and very peaceful. The kitchen is very well equipped and it’s very handy that towels & bed linen are provided. Little extra touches were handy too- a torch for walking up from the local hotel at night, coffee tea and sugar, shower gel in the bathroom and umbrellas. We really enjoyed our stay here in Devils Bridge!

  • Beautiful location, lovely clean space. Although you're technically in the back garden it doesn't feel like it. Within spitting distance of the railway and tea rooms, and short walk to the pub and falls. A lovely spot

Quiet location with scenic views across the rheidol Valley,10 minutes from popular red kite center, 7 miles from university town of Aberystwyth we are 20 minutes from famous devils bridge, rheidol falls (filming location for TV series Hinterland)
Spacious, self contained area , lovely large comfy bed which can also be made up as two singles ,well equipped kitchen ,blown hot air heating also has a shower room, delightful place to relax or a good base for exploring mid ,west Wales and the beautiful countryside that the area has to offer .We very recently changed our caravan for a larger two berth as the original accommodation we felt was too small for our guests to stay any length of time ,now its perfect for a short relaxing break or a longer holiday.
We love where we live and feel sure guests will too.
  • Remember it's a caravan and great value for money. Denise and Colin have thought of everything. They were very welcoming and available whenever I needed them. The location is beautiful and a lovely place to walk as well as having Aberystwyth nearby.
