One of the nice things about my 3 bedroom 1,650 sq ft home is that it is a peaceful and quiet setting but just minutes from town. It has an open floor plan creating a feeling of spaciousness and has lots of natural light. The bedroom has a Queen size comfortable bed. Great mountain views front and back with cottonwood, pine and fruit trees. The back porch has a swing that gets the early morning sun and is a nice place to sit with your cup of coffee.
MY HOME: Keyless entry to front door and your private room (after booking be on the lookout for an email with the code to get in.) The home is heated with a wood burning stove so is quite cozy in the Wintertime and in Summertime I use a swamp cooler. You can have full access to the shared home including living room space, full kitchen and all appliances, vitamix etc... dining room, laundry, and back porch. I have wifi which is usually very good. The home is on one level with no stairs, except one at the front door and lots of parking available on the property. I currently Airbnb two of the rooms in my home. I work from home so you may see me during your stay and I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Complimentary tea, coffee and oatmeal is available if you would like to help yourself. Mi casa es su casa. I look forward to having you stay. LOCATION: Espanola is the closest town, just 5 minutes away, located between Santa Fe (25 miles) and Taos (50 miles). In Espanola you can go to the movie theater, hang out at the local coffee shop or attend Kundalini Yoga & meditation classes in the Sikh community. There is also a Fitness center with pool located just 10 minutes away in Nambe and only a 15 min drive to El Santuario de Chimayo Historic Site, where pilgrims walk for miles and gather every year. Ojo Caliente Spa and hotsprings are 30 mins away and you can also stop at Origin's and take Ra Paulette’s cave tour on the way. 5 mins up the street from my home there is access to BLM land where you can go for a nice early morning walk and enjoy New Mexico’s beautiful blue skies.
Santa Claran Hotel has the best coffeeshop in town & Morning Glory Cafe recently opened and is glorious to sit outside..

Its an EXPERIENCE! Only 10 minutes south of the Spa, the cabin has hot shower and NEW in 2020 now on our electric grid! Cabin has gas heat, Eco-sound bathroom and Thetford 'Curve' RV style toilet. Relax on the brand new Beauty Rest queen bed and enjoy the view of Black Mesa and our wonderful river! The cabin is on 116 acres of spectacular land and is surrounded by cottonwoods. Please READ the detailed description carefully, to find out if the cabin is right for you. SORRY, NO PETS!
As of late March, plans are to open the Ojo Cabin in June! This is subject to change depending on COVID 19 status. Summer is on the way. A mild winter led to an early and wet spring. Our valley is pretty 'lush' as a result. What a great time to visit! DO YOU HAVE A GROUP? We now are offering The Ojo Group Camping on AirBNB! Groups get everything you see on this page! Even if there are as few as 5 or 6 in your group it is a BARGAIN! CHECK IT OUT! You'll find free wi-fi and a full kitchen in the dining pavilion. The NEW kitchen provides more counter space and a better set-up is going to make this place even more of a great place to hang out! Visitors now PARK in the Bosque and approach the cabin via a one minute trail to the Ojo Suspension Bridge! Your private experience just got even better! Cooking is not allowed in the cabin but the pavilion is only a minute or two walk away. The new and beautiful pavilion is enclosed and kept warm for your visit. The space has carpet and laminate flooring, gas range, gas heater and is fully functional with a complete kitchen and hot showers. Optic fiber is here! We now have complimentary high speed internet available at the pavilion where you can relax in comfort in any weather! 'The Ojo', our name for the land, is a sanctuary for people and wildlife, and has a wild river flowing through it! We love animals, but please, NO PETS! Our trails, from easy to challenging, give you plenty to explore right here, with easy access into the fantastic neighboring wild BLM badlands! Hike our private Shadow Mountain Trail and have the entire Black Mesa top to yourself! Although you may be staying for only a night, to really appreciate this place we call 'The Ojo', consider spending more time here! The Ojo Cabin is cozy, think 'tiny house', and located in the heart of ' The Ojo' and within classic Bosque of Northern New Mexico; perfect for short or longer stays. The comfy BeautyRest queen bed has been moved downstairs for greater ease. The loft is now a place to lounge in the sun in the winter, hang out and enjoy the view or use it to stretch or do your morning yoga routine! For cold weather the cabin has propane heat. In 2020 power was brought to the cabin which creates a much easier experience for guests. The cabin has a bathroom/shower with hot/cold water and a 'Curve' RV type portable flush toilet. If you have any questions about how the cabin functions, special needs, etc. PLEASE ask before booking. We provide towels, bedding, extra sleeping pad/cot if needed, a light for night time forays, everything needed to make your stay easy! A two minute walk gets you to the PAVILION. Bring your own food and store it in one of our fridges. Better yet, eat out, Dave knows all the choices in the area! The cabin is located 45 minutes north of Santa Fe, 25 minutes from Abiquiu, one hour from Taos, and only a 10 minute drive to the Ojo Caliente Spa. Did you arrive here without sunscreen, lotion, shampoo/conditioner? We have you covered, and each morning of your stay, complimentary coffee/tea is available for you to prepare. The cabin sits on 116 acres of wild river, mesas, and nearby spectacular desert lands. Many bird species call this area home winter and summer! We are in the Bosque and summer nights are cool and winter nights are cold, but we almost always have pleasant sunny days. The Ojo Caliente river flows through the middle of our property, and directly in front of the cabin. We are wildlife friendly and in residence are beavers, raccoons, a variety of snakes (yes, in the summer occasional rattlers too), many lizards, squirrels, rabbits etc., with elk visiting nightly, yet NO negative interactions with animals has ever been noted. Trails give easy access to all areas of the property including the challenging hike (1000 vertical feet in just over a mile) up Shadow Mountain (winter ice may close trail). Walking the Cholla Labyrinth in the early morning is an amazing experience! We are close to many areas of interest in N. New Mexico, including America's latest National Monument. Skiing, climbing, hiking, biking, are all only minutes away, and Dave knows it all! We want to make the cabin your base for exploration! You will love our pedestrian suspension bridge, and our brand new Ojo Rainbow bridge guaranteed to shift your experience whether you have visited us before or not! Ask the host for more information! GPS map information by itself is incorrect and WILL NOT LOCATE our gate! You will be asked to download the free app 'what3words' once you have booked. With the three locator words that will be sent to you, locating the gate day or night is easy! We are ten miles south of the Spa on US 285. Sorry, pets are not allowed!
We are in rural Rio Arriba county but not far from Espanola. And of course, only a few minutes to the Spa. Drive times are: Ten minutes to the Spa. One hour to Taos. 45 minutes to Santa Fe. 20 minutes to Abiquiu. 45 minutes to Los Alamos.
  • We loved this place! Although we were a little nervous about finding it, Dave was communicative and helpful the whole way and met us on his bike at the front gate. The structures Dave has built are amazing, including the bridge leading to the cabin. We slept very comfortably and enjoyed a walk around the site the next day where we saw a great horned owl. Highly recommend this peaceful getaway!

  • Dave was super helpful with locating the cabin, which can be a little difficult to find without the proper geological app that Dave suggests. Once park it’s a quick 5 minute walk up the cabin. The cabin itself is super cute and cozy. We stayed during mid December, and being from Texas we’re not super accustomed to the cold, but the cabin has a reliable heater and thick blankets. Ojo Caliente is just 15 minutes down the road and a great experience.

  • This is a great little place to escape into a quiet little piece of nature. Solitude with a spectacular view and a host with a great knowledge of the area.

    Erik2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very cool, comfy and convenient little cabin!

    Steven2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed on a "solo vaca" for 2 nights and could NOT be more pleased with how my stay went!! Amazing from start to finish! Such a great opportunity to unplug and just relax. I had every intention of heading to the spa but ended up staying the full 2 days on the land exploring the trails and just relaxing by the stream that runs right in front of the cabin. Would HIGHLY recommend!

  • Nature haven. Quiet and relaxing! Cross country road trip with my Momma from Colorado to Texas. We made a special trip to Ojo to experience the incredible hot springs...well worth it! Dave's place was comfortable although a little more remote than we expected. Cozy house and bed. The highway leading to the property and then the parking space to the cabin both require full attention and focus. BRING A HEADLAMP. Memorable and made for few hilarious stories ☺️

  • Beautiful property. A nice get away from the tourist funnel.

    Katy2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Dave's place was perfect for a day or weekend get away. If you are looking to go to ojo caliente it's an easy drive. Dave was great about getting in touch and making sure we found the place. What a cute little cabin. Would definitelyrecommend.

Vintage single wide mobile home. Secluded, quiet, rural high desert setting. Elevation is approximately 5800' above sea level. Deck has stainless steel BBQ grill, table, 4 chairs & spectacular views of sunrise over the Sangre de Cristo Mtns and the Rio Grande River. No light pollution for star gazing.
You will love northern New Mexico. It is arid high desert. The elevation is approximately 5,800', you will need to stay hydrated to avoid altitude sickness, in other words, a headache from hell. The house is on five (5) acres, very quiet and remote about 35 miles north of Santa Fe. 30 miles south of Taos. 18 miles east of Abiquiu. Strategic location to all points of interest, for example: Abiquiu- Home of Georgia O'Keefe. Ghost Ranch Education & Retreat Center. Christ in the Desert Monastery. Plaza Blanca. Los Alamos/White Rock- Los Alamos National Lab. Bandelier National Park. Pajarito Ski Area. Valle Caldera. Golfing. Ojo Caliente Spa and natural hot springs Taos- Taos Ski Valley. Taos Pueblo. Taos art community. Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. Earth stations. Santa Fe- Santa Fe Ski Basin. Indian Market. Spanish Market. Historic Plaza de Santa Fe. Canyon Road. Loretto Chapel. And finally, northern New Mexico is saturated with Native-American casinos; Taos, Ohkay Owingeh, Espanola, Pojoaque, and Tesuque.
Obviously, the sitting is rural. You will need to drive into Espanola, Taos or Santa Fe for a good restaurant. The neighborhood is quiet, very dark when we're between full moons. But, during a full moon, it is magical outside. We experienced a full lunar eclipse and it was unforgettable!
  • This place is so amazing! Lou is such a nice host. We booked the place around 4 pm the same day we were trying to stay (COVID hit so we were scrambling for a place) and she rushed and cleaned the place by 7! Outstanding service and such a friendly host! We actually had to leave early again (once again, due to COVID), and she was completely understanding and let us leave early. The place itself is so clean and so nice. There is a collection of like 500 movies, so there is plenty to do! There's a campfire out back, the stars are so pretty, and the 5 acres of space was fun to run around in! 5 stars, I highly recommend this place!! Just note that there is no wifi, and the signal is pretty bad. You have to go into town to get service for the most part.

  • What a treasure. Affordable, roomy, beautiful views, super clean!! Great personable hosts.

  • Peace and Quite. Remote location.

    Derrick2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and helpful host! 10/10 would stay here again!

    Tanya2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lou was a great host. We really enjoyed our stay so much we wanted to stay a few more days. We will definitely come back and stay again. It was very nice and quiet. It had everything we needed we felt right at home!

    Mari2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • The week before our trip Lou messages me saying there were issues with her property that she was having fixed. Instead of canceling the reservation she went above and beyond to find us a different place to stay and ended up paying the difference for us. Throughout the entire thing she was amazing at communicating and helping us through it all. I would 100% recommend her as a host.

    Kat2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lou and her husband are so sweet and very accommodating. House was clean and spacious. My husband was allowed to check in early when he arrived earlier than planned. We have no complaints and would recommend staying here! Looking forward to another stay ourselves. :)

    Cassandra2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • The only drawback if going in the summer months is that there is only one window unit in the living room. No central air so the bedrooms can be a bit warm & there were no screens on the windows so we couldn't open them to let air in. But other than that, the place was very comfortable & clean. Would definitely stay again.

  • Incredible stay. This beautiful house has everything you could want or need for some time away, and is situated right on a peaceful river. Gorgeous views, relaxing atmosphere.

    Mairin2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Ah, so nice to hear the Embudo River and step right out onto the deck from the casita. Just 30 minutes from my new favorite restaurant in Penasco called Sugar Nymphs! Gary was a great host! We hope to return again when our time allows.

    Marla2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • I knew I was going to like this space but I never imagined how magical it would be. From the interior homey feeling to the spectacular deck over looking the river and that hammock! A walk away to Vivac Winery and a great hiking road, I cannot wait to go back!

    Lisa2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Gary was such a pleasure to speak with and was extremely helpful in helping us find wonderful things to do locally. The house was in pristine condition and very pleasant to stay in. The sound of the river at night was one of the highlights of our stay! Along with Gary's homemade cookies! We would definitely return to the Riverside guest house.

    Jackie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Cute house with all that you need for a nice stay. The view from the bed in the morning was amazing and the stars at night were great.

    Martin2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is awesome and being right on the river was so peaceful. Gary was so easy to communicate with and made sure everything was in order and went above and beyond making sure everyone was comfortable. He gave different options on directions in case we wanted to take the scenic route. (You should always take the scenic route!) Looking forward to visiting again!

    Wendy2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Gary is a sweetie. He left a personal touch that was really sweet for us to walk into later. He came over and helped us get the hot tub going when we had a problem. The river and view of the mountains is gorgeous and the hot tub is fantabulous (great showers too.) Rejuvenating to be in nature like that, my sweetie and I luved it.

Craftsman style with beautiful woodwork details, this small studio is a perfect getaway at the base of Cerrito Blanco mountain in Abiquiu - the heart of Tewa country. Though the studio is small, there is a bright & equipped kitchen and a covered outdoor patio for enjoying dinner on warm summer nights! In colder months, we provide a space heater that keeps the inside space very warm and cozy. We are 1.5 miles from Bode’s General Store, very close to the Georgia O’Keeffe museum and Plaza Blanca.
This rustic artisan studio has a sleeping area with comfortable futon with a memory foam mattress topper that sleeps 2, a bright, well-equipped kitchen and a bathroom, as well as a covered outdoor patio. Gorgeous woodwork details adorn the entire place, and you'll surely enjoy having dinner on the covered porch, as well as coffee or tea in the morning! If you are looking for an inspiring, bright and beautiful space with stunning views of Abiquiu and the Rio Chama, look no further. This studio is perfect for a single person or couple. It is a cozy and tranquil place to call home while you explore the surrounding areas of Ghost Ranch, Plaza Blanca, Georgia O’Keeffe’s home/studio and museum, the Rio Chama and Abiquiu Lake. We supply fresh ground coffee, half & half, green and black tea and a French press coffee maker. We supply a fan and this side of the building stays somewhat cooler, especially the sleeping area. The kitchen runs hotter as it has a skylight. Why rustic? We say rustic because: 1. We have a sensitive septic system. The toilet cannot take toilet paper, so must be deposited in the covered wastebasket provided. 2. The shower is European style (free-standing), located inside the bathroom. A squeegee may be used to get excess water into the drain. So, a little rustic, yes, but always clean!
The studio is located less than 2 miles from the beautiful sandstone formations of Plaza Blanca & Dar Al Islam (the largest adobe structure in North America!), one of Georgia O'Keeffe's favorite painting locations. We are also a short 3 minute drive to Abiquiu Pueblo & Georgia O'Keeffe's home/studio, 6 miles from stunning Abiquiu Lake, 12 miles from Ghost Ranch, and 30 miles from Ojo Caliente where you can take a relaxing soak in the healing mineral springs. Nearby hikes take you off the beaten path, up to petroglyphs and 1,000 year old archeological sites. Abiquiu is a wonderful place in itself, and this sweet, truly unique studio makes a great home base for some memorable adventures. If you're planning to cook a lot during your stay, we recommend picking up groceries in Santa Fe or Taos. Bode's General Store (1.5 miles away) is pricey but well stocked.
  • This place is a great value in a stunning setting. Everything was as expected. Nice artwork and decorative touches. Great service.

    Jerry2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Erin's studio is such a sweet and cozy basecamp for Abiquiu adventures. It is a warm and peaceful place to relax and unwind at the end of the day. The stars are spectacular and watching the sunrise light up the ridge behind the house is a treat. My experience here was nourishing and just what I needed. Thank you!

    Jamie2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The incredible beauty of the red sandstone cliffs right in the backyard was the highlight of our stay

    Sammy2020-02-25T00:00:00Z

    Kellie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay in Abiquiu. The place was easy to find and Mehedi kindly greeted me. The space is warm and cozy with many personal and beautiful touches. The washroom is easy to manage as per Erin's clear instructions. The bed is very comfy. Even in the winter, the place was quite warm with a space heater. The kitchen has all the basics. The location is great. I got dropped off and picked up by some friends and even without a car I hiked to Plaza Blanca (it was a nice walk and the area is beautiful to explore). It's also a close drive to more excellent hiking at Ghost Ranch. Thank you Erin and Mehedi for sharing your beautiful space!

    Paige2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the casita in January and loved how warm and cozy it felt. Morning sunrise is brilliant on the red sandstone cliffs just behind the casita. The location is beautiful and close to lots of beautiful places to visit yet still very remote. We were in awe of the 360 view of the starry night sky. The space is small yet everything you need is there - simple kitchen, clean bathroom and shower and small sleeping area. If the weather were warm, we would have hung outside in the porch area.

    David2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a quiet and gorgeous, remote, yet close to plenty of options for survival, this will satisfy the need. Close to nature yet lots of amenities in the area. Will come back again as soon as possible! Very clean but everything you might need.

    Caranina2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • A sweet tucked away space grounded in nature. Comfortable and everything you need to prepare a meal or hot drink. Great home-away-from-home base for the Abiquiu area.

Our casita is located in the heart of Espanola, in the beautiful Plaza. About half hour from Ojo Caliente hot springs spa! Its a perfect spot for travelers that are looking for a full Northern New Mexico experience!
The casita has one bedroom with a queen bed, closet, night stand, tv with many channels and access to Netflix and internet. It is ideal for couples, but we offer a “couch-bed” if you are traveling with a friend. (single bed) The bathroom has a stand up shower and a great shower head. Beautiful places to hike!
  • Lovely place to stay! Was an easy drive to Sante Fe, Taos, or Albuquerque. In a good location to drive anywhere quickly and lots to do near by. Very clean and neat place to stay for the week of outdoor adventures!

  • Kayo’s casita is just as described! It’s very clean and comfortable, with great coffee and all the amenities you need! It’s evident that Kayo has put a lot of effort into providing a “genuine” Airbnb experience which, for a long time Airbnb’er, is very much appreciated! Thanks, Kayo!

    Tessa2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time I’ve stayed at this casita and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. It’s supper clean, very private, (like having your own very well decorated apartment in a totally separate building on their property) with a great shower. And just a half hour drive up the valley is Ojo Caliente hot springs spa. Both the B&B and the day rate for the spa are well worth the price worth the price. It’s the best of both worlds. Mineral hot spring treatments and my own private apartment.

  • Wonderful stay! Great hospitality! We stayed during the week of Christmas and we were surprised with some Christmas cookies when we arrived. :) The casita is easy to find if you follow the check-in instructions and it is very clean. It was very cold at night, but we are sure that issue will be resolved soon.

Beautiful country setting in historic compound. The guest suite has a private bathroom with a shower and private deck. In-room coffee and tea service. AC to keep you cool in the warm summer months and radiant heat in the winter. Cotton sheets, down comforters. Queen bed & twin sofa sleeper. We enjoy hosting your stay and respect our guests' privacy. As there is a pond on the property, our insurance company does not allow us to host children under the age of 12 years.
Located on the historic Plaza del Cerro dating back to the mid-1700's. Terrific book to read about the old plaza is "Sabino's Map" by Don Usner. The setting is unique and very peaceful. Great location if you want to visit Taos, Bandelier National Monument and Native American Pueblos and a short pretty drive to Santa Fe.
Historic neighborhood. The Santuario de Chimayo is a mile away, best known for its "healing earth" and commands the largest pilgrimage in Northern America during Holy Week. WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT WHEN YOU STAY ON OUR 4 ACRE HISTORIC PROPERTY, LOCATED IN THE COUNTRY, 24 MILES FROM SANTA FE: · Beautiful views, exquisite sunsets and dramatic evening skies · The occasional egret or duck in the pond · The howls of coyotes at night · Catch sight of a fox or a family of raccoons scampering across the fields · The occasional spider, fly or ant – we do not us “bug spays” or any toxic chemicals on our plants and 35 fruit trees. This is a conscious choice that our many returning guests appreciate · A walk around the 300 year old historic Plaza del Cerro, out our back door · 100% cotton linens and bath towels · Organic soap and shampoos · Organic coffee and teas · Fresh, tasty water from the community water well · Radiant hot water radiators. Will heat the room to a toasty 85 degrees · Outdoor fire pit
  • Jody's East Casita is so cute and comfortable! We came in January but stayed warm the whole time- the place is well heated and insulated! Jody's property is lovely and the location is quiet, but close to the Chimayo attractions. Jody was an accommodating and friendly host. The WiFi signal was weak and inconsistent but other than that expect a comfortable and scenic stay!

    Joe2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • My best friend and I are on a road trip through NM and stayed in the East Casita for 2 nights. Communication with our host was clear and detailed and check in was easy. We loved the many windows in both the room and the bathroom, the radiator that kept us plenty warm, lots of extra blankets, stargazing from our own porch, the beauty of our environment, and saying hello to the kitties, dogs, beetles, spiders, birds and morning walks around the ranch. Great home base to explore the area and surrounding hiking trails. Our host kindly welcomed us to use the fire pit next to the West Casita and provided us with wood and marshmallows - a perfect way to ring in the new year. I would not hesitate to stay here again and grateful to our host for having us.

  • Another great stay.

    Erin2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a special rural space for a getaway near Santa Fe, Los Alamos and other nearby attractions. Everything is as pictured. Easy in and out. Very private. We didn't hear our neighbors in the adjacent casita at all. You will probably want a cooler with ice. The hostess supplied coffee and toiletries and ultrasoft towels. Definitely try to arrive before dark. It is on an unlit narrow road but it is easy to find using host's directions. It is rural and there are mosquitoes, you might want some repellent so you can sit on the porch and enjoy the sunset. P. S. Don't miss Rancho de Chimayo restaurant!

  • Nice place, great gardens! Close to town. Jody is very nice I am not just saying that cause we have the same name!

    Jody2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect! We did not have time to meet Jody. The communication was super. She gave us great tips. The cottage is super comfortable and everything was top clean - we would go back anytime.

    Davide2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jody has a fantastic place to call home during your stay. The casita was clean and cozy and the beds were super comfortable. The advice to get there the first time before dark is good because it is tucked away on a little side road, but once you get there, you will have no problems finding your way around. Also, a good tip that really helped us was to download Google Maps for the area so that you can use them offline. The cell service can be a bit spotty, but that is an easy fix. The casita had great wifi which allowed us to stream shows on our iPads to watch before bed. The patio on the back deck was super sweet and a relaxing haven especially on cool mornings. The provided coffee maker and k-cups were so nice:) Jody kindly offered us to use an ice box, but we brought along our own small cooler which worked great for us. We brought back a fresh bag of ice after our daily adventures and it kept our wine chilled, creamer for our coffee, and some yogurt for breakfast. We especially enjoyed the pets including a variety of very friendly cats and three small dogs. We also saw a very large bullfrog on our front porch one morning! He probably lives in the adorable pond just up from the casita. The property is large with lots of apple trees and a couple of apricot trees and plenty of room to walk around and explore. Although you cannot see the mountains from the house, the drive to and from provides gorgeous vistas and breathtaking views. We also enjoyed eating more than once at the Rancho de Chimayo restaurant which is just a stone's throw from the casita. The food was outstanding and the service was great even when we had no reservation. Jody's place is a steal for the price and is the perfect getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will remember Rancho Manzana if we come to Santa Fe in the future.

Winter has arrived in Northern New Mexico bringing cold, crisp nights below a stunning star-filled sky and sunny, mild days that are perfect for exploring. From Lyden you will be only a stone’s throw away from a multitude of attractions and activities: national monuments, modern-day Pueblo communities, Georgia O’Keefe’s home, Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs, hiking/biking trails, ski areas, birding and fly-fishing hotspots, and local restaurants. Check out "The Neighborhood" for more on this area!
The kitchen has all the utensils you might need to prepare your own meals. If you can’t find something you need, I’m happy to lend anything from my kitchen. Please wash the dishes and leave the kitchen as you found it. The tap water in the casita comes directly from my deep well. It is pure and fabulous. Guests will find a pitcher of cold water in the refrigerator and fresh mint to enjoy with it much of the year. There are two friendly dogs and two cats on the property. They may come around to see you, but please, don’t let them into the casita. Some guests may be allergic. Please hang your wet towels on the hooks in the bathroom.
Located in Lyden, New Mexico, a traditional community along the Rio Grande, this beautifully restored adobe casita offers unique access to some of the hidden wonders of Northern New Mexico. Casita del Bosque is a quiet getaway halfway between the must-see attractions of Santa Fe and Taos and just a scenic drive away from the Georgia O’Keefe home and museums at Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch. The casita is part of a two-hundred-year old adobe house that shares a wall with a capilla, San Jose del Bosque, a small chapel built to serve the early Spanish settlers of the village of Lyden, formerly known as El Bosque (The Woods). Restored in 2007 to reflect its early New Mexico beginnings, the casita has ceilings of vigas (log beams) and split cedar latillas between the vigas, and brick floors. The kitchen is fully equipped for those who wish to prepare meals. Guests will find an assortment of breakfast foods to prepare as well as homemade goodies, coffee and a variety of teas. Casita del Bosque sits at the base of the massive Mesa Prieta, which harbors tens-of-thousands of petroglyphs dating from the very earliest inhabitants of this region. Adventurous visitors who hike up its rocky slopes gain a spectacular view of the valley below and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains beyond. They may even experience the thrill of encountering ancient petroglyphs or a lone coyote along the way. For a more choreographed experience on the mesa, the Wells Petroglyph Preserve, less than a mile away, boasts the largest array of flute player petroglyphs ever recorded. The Preserve offers twice-weekly group tours as well as private tours that can be arranged in advance on their web page. If a tour is not available during your stay, hundreds of petroglyphs can be easily viewed from the road. Just a few miles to the south are the Pueblos of Ohkay Owingeh, Santa Clara and San Ildefonso, where practicing traditional Native American artists offer their sought-after artwork for sale. If the timing of your visit is right, you may have the privilege of experiencing a Pueblo feast day with traditional dances that are open to the public. In addition, several Pueblos operate thriving casinos for more modern entertainment options. A short drive away, the town of Española offers an appealing array of restaurants, many featuring traditional Northern New Mexican cuisine. While in town, stop by the visitors’ center and enjoy the gallery and gift shop operated by the Northern New Mexico Regional Arts Center at the Plaza de Española or the one hundred-year-old Chimayò Trading Post. A few minutes outside of Española is the beautiful Santa Cruz church where you can see the lovingly restored retablos and paintings that are precious to this vibrant church community. Fifteen minutes to the north of Lyden is Dixon, a tiny town known for arts and crafts, its thriving theatre scene, its wineries and its award-winning community library. Just beyond Dixon at the village of Pilar, is Orilla Verde National Recreation Area, the southernmost extension of one of our newest national monuments, Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. The road through Orilla Verde winds along the Rio Grande providing birders and fishers a unique opportunity to indulge their favorite pastimes. Alert visitors may even spot Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep along the canyon walls. You may access the famed High Road to Taos from Española. Once you turn east, you find yourself winding through beautiful New Mexico mountain villages including Chimayò, famed for its Santuario de Chimayò and traditional weavers. It is also home to Rancho de Chimayò, a favorite restaurant with locals and visitors alike. As you travel the High Road, you will be awed by the beauty of Truchas, nestled in the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rocky Mountains at 8,000 feet. Here you turn north, passing through several small villages. At Las Trampas take time to visit the San José de Gracia Church, a designated National Historic Landmark. As you leave Las Trampas, look carefully to the east to see an ancient aqueduct made of hollowed-out logs that still brings water from a mountain spring to irrigate the fields below. You will find endless opportunities to indulge your fancies in any direction from Casita del Bosque, whether they lean toward hiking, biking, skiing, historical exploration, petroglyph viewing, birding, fishing, rafting, photography, visiting with artisans in their studios and galleries or enjoying a scrumptious meal. The Casita del Bosque Guidebook provides you with contact information, including web pages, for many of the sites mentioned as well as many others in Northern New Mexico. Your time at Casita del Bosque will provide a memorable experience, one that you won’t find in a city or a hotel. Reserve today!
  • Mary’s place is excellent for a quiet and relaxing getaway. The views of the mountains are better than the pictures show. Her dogs are sweet and friendly. And the space itself is warm and welcoming. On top of that, Mary was an extremely accommodating host, responsive, and thoughtful. We’ll be back.

    Richard2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at Mary’s place. She provides lots of great information on things to do and see in the area. Very clean with a well stocked kitchen for anyone staying in and cooking. Mary was very quick to respond to any questions. Thanks again for a great stay!

  • Excellent space, excellent hostess, beautiful secluded location. Thanks Mary!

    Neil2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was such a great host. From the homemade snacks left in the fridge to the maps and guides of the area. The place itself was perfect, and near some great hiking trails. We would absolutely book again. It was the best Airbnb experience I’ve had.

    Sean2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This house is truly magical, and so is the area where it's located. Mary had great suggestions for trail runs, food, and a back route to Ojo Caliente, and I loved exploring the local brewery/winery scene, where people are so very friendly. Don't hesitate to book this spot if you need a quiet retreat. I loved the starry skies and the homemade cookies Mary left.

    Kati2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Mary’s place is off the beaten path, quiet and cozy. Mary definitely deserves the “Superhost” title. She is very thoughtful, helpful and quick to respond if you need anything. Her place is between Taos/Angel Fire and Santa Fe. If we hadn’t stayed at her place, we’d have missed out on Pajarito Mountain and Bandelier National Monument. We definitely enjoyed our stay!

    Angela2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and comfortable space. The accommodations were excellent and as advertised. Would 100% stay here again.

    Nicholas2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mary’s casita was everything we hoped for and more. Cozy and surrounded by scenery with a charming decor. Lots of homey and welcoming touches.

  • Robins house is wonderful and it’s a treat to stay in a real Adobe house. So comfortable! The room is beautiful and spacious with a sitting area and two beds. Robin helped me get the last tour at Abiquiu. It’s very close by. 12 minutes. Such a beautiful and interesting area. The bedroom is very private, off the kitchen and entrance. Loved it!

  • Robin's house is a unique Adobe house with many artistic touches. The location is very quiet with minimal noise and clear and beautifulnight sky's. It is a convenient location for visiting Georgia O'keffe' s home, ranch, museum, and more. It is just a short drive to the incredible town of Santa fe. Robin is a very helpful hostess with many ideas and suggestions about where to go and what to see. My friend and I had a wonderful stay with plenty to see and do during the day and peaceful nights to rest up for the next exciting day.

  • Robins place is a beautiful country local home and location. It was more spacious than expected! Please note carefully and write down her notes as to how to get there. BC goggle map shows her house further up the road than really is! Like a wooded lot with no home!! Continue down the road a bit and if can get there before dark!

This is a very creative all solar adobe home in the high desert surrounded by gorgeous mountain views, yet within easy reach of the main roads. Enjoy the peace and quiet of pristine surroundings and wonderful hikes from your doorstep as well as many area attractions. Santa Fe is only 48 miles away.
Carson National Forest, BLM land, and Santa Fe Forest are all within 2 miles. Nearby attractions include the Abiquiu Inn; Georgia O"Keefe house; Ghost Ranch; Abiquiu Lake; Chama river rafting; Christ in the Desert Monastery; Ojo Caliente hot springs and spa; and Ra Paulette caves. The Chama Scenic Railway is 1 hour to the north. There are patios on three sides so you can always choose sunshine or shade. Each patio offers beautiful views and in summer beautiful gardens and flowers. Indoors is light filled and has 5 window seats from which to enjoy the scenery. Bedding and furniture coverings and rugs are all natural fibers. I receive great joy from both the home and the outdoors and hope visitors will find the same to be true. The couch is reasonably comfortable and the back cushions are removable should you choose this as an extra bed. The whole house is yours and from your doorstep you can walk along the El Rito River, or to BLM land or Carson National Forest. Enjoy the profound quiet, watch the Ravens play, listen to birdsong, and enjoy a starry sky or spectacular sunset with a 360 degree New Mexico sky. There are very few bugs so it is comfortable outdoors at any time of the day or night. Because this is a full solar home, guests are asked to use high draw electrical items such as hairdryer, washing machine, and clothes dryer only during sunshine hours. I have a separate apartment upstairs with separate entrance. You have total privacy but I'm available if you need anything.
  • Gail's house is beautiful, and the surroundings are absolutely striking. It's serene and feels very remote, though it's only a few minutes from the main road. It was a great place to spend some time and felt very relaxing.

    Matthew2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, bright, cozy adobe house in a gorgeous part of New Mexico; the views out the many windows are stunning. Gail was a fantastic host, and really made the place feel homelike and welcoming. I especially enjoyed having a fully equipped kitchen and the wood stove, which Gail would start up every evening. Very close to Georgia O'Keeffe's White Place (Plaza Blanca) and some of the best pizza in the state, Mamacita's Pizza.

    Yulia2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Gail's beautiful home in the hills above Abiquiu. It was comfortable with all amenities, a fabulous wood burning stove and amazing views. We gladly stayed in the house for most of our time (due in part to snowy weather) and between the clouds moving in took a few great hikes in the surrounding area. Gail was accommodating and helpful with tips about the area and life there. A great visit and introduction to northern New Mexico.

    Joan2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is the real deal. Come and experience an authentic Northern New Mexico retreat in a stunningly beautiful environment.. You won’t be disappointed! Gail is a great host in addition to being an exceptional fine artist.

    Casey2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful home. Great views and outdoor space. Super comfy bed. Gail is a wonderful hostess.

    Rebecca2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • A truly lovely place in a beautiful setting from which you can walk out the door and wander. Gail's a great host, responsive and kind. The house was clean, comfortable and well-stocked. We didn't want to leave and definitely hope to be back before too long. Also there's a really nice horse and pony to greet you when you get home from your day in the high desert.

    Jim2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Gail’s home is an absolute gem, and so is Gail! This is one of the nicest Airbnb homes we’ve ever stayed in. Fantastic remote location, yet close to wonderful sites like Ghost Ranch and Plaza Blanca. We were welcomed with a warm fire in the cozy living room, and were able to make a wonderful dinner with food we brought and a full supply of kitchenware that Gail provides. Her beautiful paintings adorn the walls around her home, too! The bed was really comfortable, and what a treat to wake up to the most amazing view ever from a bedroom window! We loved our visit here, and will definitely return the next time we’re in Abiquiu! Thanks so much, Gail!

    Elana2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • The previous reviews have summarized it well. This is a great space in a spectacular location. My only regret is that there was so much to do in the area I did not spend much time relaxing at the house. Gail's home (pictures accurate). I would note that there are no street lights and these are dirt roads. Not hard to drive and Gails directions are excellent -- but I would recommend arriving in daylight. After I drove it a few times, I was fine at night but I would not have wanted to navigate it in the dark the first time. Hope to visit this lovely spot again!

We also maintain greenhouses for winter greens which we will gladly share. The house is passive and active solar with solar electric and solar hot water. Tom works for Positive Energy Solar in Santa Fe and Jan is a certified Permaculturist. We aim for as much sustainability as possible. Chimayo is the home of the Sanctuario most well known for it's Easter pilgramage still practiced by many locals. Pilgrams walk day and night to come to Chimayo for the Easter holiday. The Sanctuario is open for visitors and is still an active congregation. The traditions of Chimayo are still practiced today including the room of blessed healing dirt. You will also find the best vendors of Chimayo authentic chili there and sample it's green and red goodness. Historians credit Chimayo with having the most intact (still lived in) Spanish Colonial Plaza in New Mexico. Many if not most of the residents of Chimayo are descendants of the Spanish settlers from the 1600's. A museum open in the summers next to Ortega's Weaving Shop will explain. Many art galleries and weavers are in Chimayo and the region. There is a wonderful local restaurant with beautiful hillside tables called 'El Rancho de Chimayo' that has great classic northern New Mexico meals. Paradise Pond is perfect for couples looking to get away for a romantic weekend. Additionally artists, writers, photographers and others who want a peaceful and inspiring natural place to work. For the adventurous it's also centrally located for day trips: 35 minutes to Santa Fe, 60 minutes to the Santa Fe Ski Basin, 55 minutes to Taos, 45 minutes to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs, 45 minutes to Abiquiu (and Ghost Ranch) or Bandelier National Park. There are hidden treasures throughout the region and the hosts have a lot of knowledge of some off the beaten path spots to visit. We will help you plan your trips if you need local advice. Many events are also worthwhile such as the Native American Ceremonial Dances, Santa Fe's numerous Markets, the Christmas Eve Canyon Road Walk and many more. So stay and relax or go exploring or both. Either way you will enjoy your stay in beautiful Northern New Mexico.
We love Chimayo. It's an historical village where 90% of the people living here are descendants of the first Spanish settlers in the late 1600's. There is a lot of rural small scale agriculture with their main crops being their Chimayo chile and the native blue corn. The Sanctuario de Chimayo is a major attraction and on Easter week hosts the pilgrimage where thousands of people walk to the Sanctuario. There are also many weavers still working in the old traditions. Also it is in the center of the area which includes Taos, Santa Fe and Los Alamos - everything is less than an hour away.
  • A great place to relax after a busy day in the office! I especially enjoyed listening to nature while getting ready in the morning. Thank you Tom for your hospitality.

    Clara2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Oh man did Tom's place exceed my expectations. What a delightful experience. Exactly what I needed. First off, Tom is great. He was an engaged host, prompt with answers to any and all questions I had. He's also a wealth of knowledge on all things New Mexico and, should your inclinations tend that way, solar energy and sustainable building. I had several great conversations with Tom during my stay regarding sustainability. Definitely things I'll keep in mind when it comes time for me to get a place of my own. Second, the casita is awesome. An absolutely gorgeous little slice of solace in which to write, draw, and generally relax. Waking up to the sun rising over the pond was wonderful. The casita is also located almost equidistant to Santa Fe and Taos. It was the perfect base camp for me to explore both cities, and it was fantastic to be able to return to the quiet solitude of the casita after I was done. I would absolutely stay here again the next time I'm in the area, and if you have the opportunity to stay here at some point in the near future, you should take it without hesitation.

    Hunter2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time at this private casita suite, views were wonderful in the morning and evening, just away enough from the city but away from the bustle. Great location to get to Santa Fe or Taos. Really enjoyed our time there.

  • If you are looking for a relaxing getaway in a beautiful spot just a little off the beaten path, Paradise Pond is it!! Tom's a great host and will share his knowledge of his 8 acre property and the surrounding areas including restaurants and terrific hikes. Certainly a must stay if you're looking to spend any time in Taos or Santa Fe as Chimayo is pretty much right in the middle.. and if you're lucky like we were, you might catch a glimpse of the beaver's living in his pond right out in front of his casita.. thanks again Tom for a great stay, Phil and Joan

    Philip2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Tom's air bnb space is wonderful with enough space to feel at home, while also enjoying the pond, birds, and scenery. There are plenty of places to go around Chimayo, and it is centrally located between Taos and Santa Fe. Tom is a gracious host who was very attentive and offered suggestionsof what to see and do.

    Ann2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is the most amazing place. The casita is charming and lovely. The pond gave us hours of fascinating moments watching frogs, ducks, beavers and Canadian geese. Some days we just rested. Other days we went into Santa Fe or took the high road to Taos and Angel Fire. I even did most of my Christmas shopping down the road at Galeria Ortega. Tom was so helpful and provided us with great information about the area. We will be back here for many years to come.

    Sandra2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and relaxing..The pond is a beautiful asset to your stay..if you enjoy nature.. this is a place for you....La casita pond paradise is a home away from home..has everything you will need! Excellent accommodations!

  • Tom and Jan's place is an absolute paradise in the middle of beautiful New Mexico. This is our second trip and stays to Jan and Tom's place. We feel right at home. We love waking up every morning to the nature show at the pond right in front of the Casita. The Casita itself is the perfect size for a family of 3. And we took advantage of the little kitchen and cooked most days at home. The location is ideal for day trips in the area, and conveniently located to both Santa Fe and Taos. Both Tom and Jan are so kind and a wealth of information about the area. Tom even hosted and shared a long day trip drive with us to Chaco Canyon on this visit. Jan is a beautiful landscape painter and we had the opportunity to see her art at a gallery in Taos. After our second visit, Tom and Jan feel like family to us. And the Casita our second home. So sad to leave! We will return.

Very protective neighbors we all look out for each other.
  • We really enjoyed our stay, the place looks better than the pictures. We appreciate the little touches that make everything super cozy. It snowed during our stay but we didn't experience any issues, there's a shelter where our car was cover from the snow. Perfect location for traveling to Santa Fe and Abiquiu. Would highly recommend! ^_^

  • We went to New Mexico to reunite my grandparents at the National Cemetary. Darlene’s place was clean comfortable and cozy. Perfect for my family and inspirational to select religious reading and writing a eulogy. We plan visiting in the future and reaching out to Darlene.

  • Darlene is a wonderful host! Her place was lovely and so charming. The house is close to a lot of nice little restaurants and is very close to Ojo Caliente! The amenities that came with the house were amazing as well. Darlene went out of her way to make sure my mother and I had the best stay possible. This place is a wonderful find, and I highly recommend staying here if available!

  • This little house was everything it promised to be and so much more! Darlene was an amazing host by having a fire ready for us and she thought of all the extra touches. Very very close to Ojo and shopping. Kitchen was easy to cook in and the beds were crazy comfy. We will be back many times and I look forward to visiting with Darlene again!!

Tucked behind the Dixon Plaza, and situated directly above the Acequia de la Plaza, the Long House is one of the true gems in Dixon. Built in the 1700s and lovingly renovated in the 1990s, the Long House offers a unique and historic experience in the heart of Dixon. Centrally located off the Dixon Plaza, you'll be a five minute walk to the Coop, library, post office, and Zuly's Cafe. It's a great place to relax and enjoy Dixon and as a home base to venture and explore northern NM.
3/28/20 Update: Due to covid 19, orders given for people to stay home and my concern for my family and the communities of northern New Mexico, I have made some temporary changes. Since access to testing is a challenge and the symptoms can mimic the flu, if you or anyone in your party are sick in any way prior to your arrival date or, if you are traveling from a known hot spot of covid 19, please cancel your reservation as soon as possible. I've also removed the Instant Book option so that I have the option to connect with you prior to accepting a reservation. I increased the minimum stay to 5 days with a day blocked out on either side of each reservation, and I've also blocked out the rest of April. The extra day will allow for the additional cleaning and disinfecting that is recommended in between guests. Guests should still reach out to the caretakers prior to their arrival date, but face to face interactions with the guests will be kept to a minimum and phone calls and texts with the caretakers should be used. Since the washer and dryer are in the caretakers' living space, I've removed access to it to protect their them. I hope that you understand the intention to keep you and everyone safe during these unprecedented times, and hopefully soon, things will return to normal! While some businesses have temporarily closed, the Coop and Sugar Nymphs have remained open and are offering pick up and curb side options so you can get what you need. Call ahead to any of the places nearby to find out if they're open and their hours of operation. **** Having recently traveled to Europe and Canada, and having stayed in airbnb listed apartments managed by hosts who manage many properties with minimally equipped kitchens with sparse furnishings, I realized that the airbnb experience of being a guest in someone's home is becoming less common. The Long House was my mom's house, where my family and I have gathered since the early 90's. I built the Addition on the back of the Long House where she painted and practiced her photography and entertained friends and family from the area and all over the world. In that spirit, I have opened up my family home to the airbnb community. I am proud to let you know that this is my home and I live here too! The art and the furnishings and the kitchen (without a microwave!) are the way that I want it because I return each year with my family for extended stays. I work on the house and the property so that you too can enjoy being in this special place! New for 2019, I'm super excited to share that I laid flagstone on the back patio! I bought 4 tons of Colorado red flagstone from my friend Mark Saxe at Southwest Stoneworks, just up the road in Rinconada, and worked on leveling the ground and installing the flagstone. I've wanted to lay flagstone on the back patio for a very long time and I'm so happy that I had the time this year to get it done. In 2017, I replaced the kitchen countertops with granite and an undermount sink and new pulldown faucet, added a great, new sectional couch with lots of pillows and other new furniture, more lighting and floor coverings, and a new refrigerator to make the Long House even more comfortable and inviting! Check out the photos to see the new countertop, sectional couch and comfy chair in the living room, and all new photos of the rest of the house. Time spent at the Long House is the kind of quality time that we so rarely get elsewhere. The thick, adobe walls help to keep the house quiet and cool in the summer and warm in the winter. As there is rarely any traffic by the house, you will be amazed at how quiet it is. This summer, we awoke to the sounds of the Rio Embudo as there is still snow runoff rushing down the valley. The acequias are full, and the sounds of the wind and the rain and the thunder greeted us every day. The front porch is a great place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee and to greet the neighbors on their morning walk. The back porch is my favorite spot as the house is perched above the acequia and the lower fields that run to the river. The expansive view of the Dixon valley and the hills beyond is an inspiration. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are always a treat on the back patio table. The beauty of being in Dixon is that time seems to move more slowly. A walk up to the Co-op for some food or a little bit farther to La Chiripada Winery to get a bottle of wine for dinner is enough to break up a perfect day spent enjoying time being at home. Our neighbor's dog, Romeo, loves to make the rounds in the evening and will often stop by to say hello! He's super friendly and loves a good scratch by his tail. He's getting older now, and unfortunately is no longer able to control his bowels, so keep an eye out for him and his droppings! Named after its construction, the Long House was built by adding one room at a time from east to west in the 1700s. As the original family expanded and grew, another room was added next to the last room built. Room to room access used to be through doors that opened to the exterior, as there were no doors between rooms until much later. You’ll find that each room still has a door that opens to the exterior (except the bathroom), although the yoga room’s old exterior door now opens into the sunroom, which I added in the 1990s. Unique and lovingly renovated, the Long House encompasses 1800 square feet of living space and boasts traditional vigas with split cedar and rough cut, plank ceilings, 2.5’ thick adobe walls with traditional mud plaster on the exterior, and diamond point plaster on the interior walls. The secluded back porch area offers a wonderful setting for meals and a gorgeous view of the Dixon valley and Rio Embudo, while the front porch offers a wonderful view of the sunsets. As someone who loves to cook, the full kitchen has everything you'll need, including a new natural gas stove with oven, coffee grinder and maker, toaster oven, blender, frig/freezer and all the cooking utensils and pans you’ll need to enjoy a home cooked meal. A microwave you will not find, though. The master bedroom has a king size, Sleep Number bed, with a new, gel foam mattress topper, a wood stove to take off the chill, and private access to the back porch. The second bedroom has a queen size bed, private access to the front porch, and connects directly to the yoga/meditation room (with yoga mats included) and the adobe sunroom added onto the front side of the yoga room. The entire house is heated with radiant and baseboard heat, and each room has its own thermostat (except for the sunroom). The bathroom features a clawfoot bath tub for long, slow baths and modified for showers too. If you need to do laundry, the washer/dryer are located in the Addition, where my caretakers live. Just coordinate with the Gabrielle or Noel and they'll give you access to the laundry.
Early November each year, the Dixon Studio Tour features the renowned, local Embudo valley artists and their work. Visit their studios, talk to the artists and see their work from the past year. It's an exceptional opportunity to go places in the area that are only available during this weekend, and to purchase art directly from the artists. November in Dixon is not to be missed! The website has the listing of the artists and a map to their studios and a preview of what you'll find. Use your favorite search engine to check out the Dixon Studio Tour (for some unknown reason, airbnb won't let me show you the website address) According to my neighbor down the lane who teaches archeology at Barnard College and spends his summers in Dixon, the Dixon Plaza was the prior location of the Picuris Pueblo. Old pottery shards can be found on the lanes and pathways as you walk. And if you have the pleasure of visiting in the summer, be sure to check out the farmer's market each Wednesday starting around 3:30 pm in front of the Coop in June, July, August and into the fall!
  • This place is amazing, So unique! We loved staying here! It feels like a home away from home. I definitely recommend you come and stay. It was great to have a yoga room and a beautiful view outside the back porch. Thank you we will be back!

  • This stay exceeded expectations. David and the caretaker were very communicative before my arrival. The drive to get there is STUNNING. As soon as I pulled up, I got excited because the view off the back porch is incredible! I quickly ran inside and was greeted by gentle, welcoming music. The house is darling. The bedrooms are spacious. There’s plenty of room to stretch out and get comfy in the living spaces, and I cooked a bunch in the kitchen. Lots of cooking utensils, pots, pans, and slices were available. The little town of Dixon was secluded enough to make my stay feel like a getaway but close enough to Taos and Santa Fe that I could have day trip adventures. I heartily recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful stay in the mountains of Northern New Mexico.

  • The house was beautiful and the local tips were very helpful. We loved our stay!

    Jonny2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful New Mexico stylings abound in this house. Noel, a young man who works is part of David’s family came to check on us shortly after we had checked in, and he told us the 200 - year old history of it. Despite having been added onto twice over that period, the kitchen is modern and very equipped. We had everything we needed to cook meals on a high - end gas range. Communication with David and Noel was top - notch. I would definitely stay again here!

  • My girlfriend wanted to treat me to a weekend getaway for my birthday. She asked me where did I want to go. My answer? Back to this amazing loft that we had stayed at earlier this year! We have been to many AirBnB's this past year, but IMHO, this has been the very best place we have stayed, hands down. Do yourself a huge favour, book a reservation to stay at Mary Beth's amazing loft just outside of Sante Fe - you will not regret it!

  • If you are looking for a peaceful retreat this is the place! This place has the view of a beautiful sunrise to start the day, and a breathtaking sunset to end the day! The location is a short drive to Taos or Santa Fe! You won’t be disappointed staying at this off the beaten path loft!

  • A beautiful, individually furnished apartment; a very nice hostess. For the journey, I recommend the following information in the GPS: "126b County Road Espanola NM"; When you reach this street, it is the last house on the right.

    Paul-Ludwig2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely gorgeous view, Mary Beth was very responsive and initiated contact with directions and instructions for us to get there, could not have picked a better stay or a better host.

    Sophie2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had amazing days, enjoyed our staying there for 13 days. The loft is very nice, well designed and well kept, absolutely clean. The view is enchanting, with the Black Mesa right on the left and the Rio Grande valley with the mountains in the background. The loft has all the comfort. The queen size bed is comfortable and large, kitchen well equipped and bathroom with whirlpool tub. Mary Beth is a perfect host, she respects your privacy but at the same time is ready to help you. If you would like to meet her, she is very pleasant and nice. She brought us even delicious peaches and vegetables from her personal organic garden! We are looking forward to be there again!

    Guru Jiwan Kaur Teresa2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Beth’s place was perfect—secluded but still an easy drive to everything we wanted to do in the area, super clean, and she was very responsive to all messages. The two things that put this over and above for me personally: 1) the huge bathtub with jacuzzi jets was SO nice after a long day of hiking. 2) the kitchen wasn’t bare-bones like some places I’ve stayed, and had basics like different sized pans, cooking oil and basic spices to make cooking dinners super easy. We will definitely stay here again if we’re in the area!

    Julie2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful loft, gorgeous views, very nice host. It’s about a 40-minute drive from Santa Fe and in a pretty rural setting, so note that if you plan on spending a lot of time in the city.

Northern New Mexico is spectacular! There's an aroma of chiles roasting & piñon smoke everywhere. Red chile ristras are brightly hanging to dry. Golden aspen & cottonwood flash their colors. There is a $45. charge per night for using two bedrooms. See Camino Real Casita A if more space is needed.
There are two units on the property Casita A & Casita B. Both Casitas have hot tubs and may also be available to book both for groups. You have your own driveway in front of the Casita B. This space has two queen bedrooms. $45 extra per night for the use of second bed. Full kitchen with enough room to easily accomodate four people for dinner. One Bathroom with tub and shower. Organic cotton sheets changed once weekly unless otherwise requeseted. Four person Hot Tub (all natural no chlorine) is perfect after a long day of sight seeing, you are sure for a memorable stay with at Camino Real Casitas. Over one hunderd year old historic adobe home was once an old mercantile store on the original Santa Cruz Plaza. Located on the vortex of the Camino Real & the Camino de Paz and adjacent to the Holy Cross Church. This church is of the upmost historic significance as it is the second church in New Mexico/ The United States. Holy Cross Church is the first stop on the pilgrimage of churches along the famous High Road to Toas that also includes Santuario (the Lourdes of the US with it’s healing holy blessed dirt), the newly and impeccably restored Las Trampas and Ranchos de Taos, subject of many famous photographers and an icon of New Mexico. The original road to Taos, lined with the best of Norteno art galleries and home studios, it is the artery to the heart of New Mexico’s art scene. $45 extra per night to use the second bed. This large mercantile is returned to it’s original floorplan, with the store (Casita A) in front and the living quarters, traditionally resided by the shop owners (Casita B). This division creates two roomy separateand private units. Both are filled w/ local hand carved furniture, folk art, local paintings, crafts and vintage decor. Ski season is here!! We love skiers and snowboarders. This is the perfect stay if you want to ski each of our award winning basins: Taos, Angelfire, Sipapu, Santafe, Red River… Enjoy a long day skiing and soak those cold tired bones in your own private hot tub! Santa Cruz is conveniently located 20 miles from Santa Fe and 40 miles to Taos. Your host, artist Kata Bennett, comes from a family dedicated to the preservation of New Mexico’s beautiful and extensive history. Northern New Mexico history has been her avocation since incubated by her father, as one of her fondest memories is him driving her around New Mexico collecting Santos and WPA furniture. Beginning in the thirties, her parents and grandmother were instrumental in restoring Old Town in Albuquerque, installing the canons and bandstand there. The Bennett family’s restoration work was so impressive that the Duke and Duchess of Albuquerque, the first to visit since the colinization, had dinner and honored their extensive work while visiting the family property in Old town. The Bennett’s also helped found the Little Theatre and brought reinactments of Coronado’s Entrada and other plays to little villages across the northern territory. Kata’s passion for restoring the Santa Cruz Plaza now includes restoring many of the properties here. Kata is a superb host and will try to fulfill any request, answer any questions, regale you with stories of the area or leave you completely alone if that is what you desire. We look forward to meeting you. Your stay helps to fund this extensive project. Thank you!
Santa Cruz is one of the oldest settlements in North America. We are on the sacred vortex of the Camino Real and the Camino de Paz. Everything in New Mexico began here and spread out from here to Santa Fe, Taos and Albuquerque. Living here is like living in a small European village. Located on the Camino Real, it is a giant time machine. I find ancient Mexican and Indian pot shards as well as Victorian and Fifties broken pottery all around. The four crown jewels of un-remodeled churches are all within easy distance. Certainly a must see is Holy Cross Church or La Iglesias de la Santa Cruz de la Cañada, being adjacent to The Casita. The plaza is just a parking lot now but I hope with interest, we can bring it back to life as it once was. Your staying here helps to bring that possibility to life.
  • We are so glad that we discovered Kathryn’s pueblo. Welcoming and cozy and safe. She met us when we arrived and we immediately felt a kinship. We had dinner at Paragua just a mile away (make reservations - very busy - and friendly.) We made breakfast - fun sitting at her dining table. The hot tub was fantastic on a cold (25 degrees!) night (snow in the morning). The real high point though was Kathryn’s tour of the Santa Cruz de Canada Church just across the Camino Real plaza - and hearing her plans for returning it to its place as the center of the community. (your stay is contributing to the cause). You will do it Kathryn!

    John2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • True, original adobe home.

    Matías2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Kathryn's 100 year old adobe is gorgeous. She is a fantastic host with a lot of knowledge of the area and an interesting person to meet. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely stay with her.

    Carina2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The space accurately described. While it is in a small town it is convenient to Santa Fe and Taos. The place is artful and cozy and the hot tub was great!

  • Off a slightly busy street however everything else is great including the private patio. Kathryn offers great local spots/tips. Thx for great stay.

Escape to the natural beauty of the Embudo River Valley in this private, quiet casita on a 5+ acre property in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Located in the village of Dixon, this is the perfect jumping off point for ski trips to Taos, Sipapu, and Sante Fe, for snowshoeing or cross country skiing, or visits to Ghost Ranch and Ojo Caliente. Visit local wineries and the majestic Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. Enjoy long mornings and evenings relaxing by the fire.
Bosque Cottage is our beautiful property which includes the main house, a small art studio, a tiny house, a garden, and the casita. The property is on the Embudo River and the bosque (forest) that lines the river. The approximately 900 square foot, straw bale casita is bermed into a hillside approximately 50 yards (150 feet) from the main house and is situated for maximum privacy. When inside, the thick, straw bale insulated walls add to the quiet and keep the space cool in summer and warm in winter. The space has a mini split air conditioner for those hot summer days. In the winter the casita is warmed with radiant in-floor heating, the mini split heater, and a wood stove fireplace. The artist owned and decorated space features a modern aesthetic with rustic touches, a rotating collection of small-scale works of contemporary art, and a beautifully designed patio with sunset views of the surrounding hills and mesas. The patio has a chiminea fire pit, a charcoal grill, shade, seating, and lighting. The shade is removed in winter to let in more sunshine. Off of the patio is a short trail that leads to an arroyo which can be explored by guests. One bundle of firewood and firestarter are provided for the chiminea and/or wood stove. Additional firewood (with firestarter) can be purchased for $5.00 per bundle. The kitchen is stocked with organic olive oil, organic cooking oil, coffee, coffee filters, sugar, salt, pepper, and some other basic spices. We also provide basic cookware, dishes, utensils, a coffee maker, and an ice maker. There is a stackable washer/dryer in the kitchen with eco-friendly laundry detergent. Note that the washer is appropriate for light loads only. The television streams Netflix, Hulu, and Hulu Live, which provides many cable and local channels. Guests can also play music using the Pandora app on the television. In the bathroom we provide Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Stairs lead off the living room to the loft bedroom with a queen sized bed. Downstairs in the living room, a chair folds out to a comfortable twin bed (this is the “sofa bed”).
Dixon is a small, agricultural community famous for its orchards. The community is very diverse and peaceful. The Sipapu Ski Resort, a favorite of locals, is just 30 minutes away. About the same distance are areas good for sledding, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. The casita is just 25 minutes from Taos and 45 minutes from Santa Fe, and all of the cultural attractions these cities have to offer. Drive 20 minutes in another direction and you will be high in the Sangre de Cristo mountains where opportunities for hiking, fishing, and enjoying nature abound. About one mile from the casita is the Dixon Co-op Market, a small but well-stocked grocery store and deli. The village has a restaurant, Zuly’s, which has excellent New Mexican food and a patio. There are three wineries very nearby, one within walking distance. Access to the Rio Grande National Monument (a.k.a., “the gorge”) is approximately 10 miles from Bosque Cottage and not to be missed.
  • This place is truly a gem. We have traveled all over the world and stayed in numerous AirB&Bs. This definitely falls in our top 3. Super cute, super cozy, great value, and a great location for day tripping or for retreating and relaxing! We loved Dixon too. It has every amenity: a coop, wineries, a brewery down the way, a post office and public library, even a playground at the elementary school. Please note that we did stay here during the early days of the Corona pandemic. Rachel and Bart took every precaution to sanitize the space, ensuring our safety and theirs. We were so grateful for their hospitality🌀and will most certainly return.

  • This is a real jewel of a rental, and Dixon is an ideal location to explore the entire northern NM landscape. We spent most of our time journeying around to different spots... rivers, gorges, hot springs, towns, hikes, and just driving around the high road to Santa Fe. The casita is newish construction, but with many items that retain a "colonial era" feel -- massive wooden doors, adobe-stlye construction, wood burning stove, etc. The heating system, convenience of the kitchen, bath, and seating are modern and very comfortable. The quality and effort into the design of the space is evident, and very appreciated. It was especially good to have household recycling, as we've been carrying items from place to place while on a long trip ... and now finally able to unload them to be recycled. We would revisit here anytime we were coming to the area. Great value, great location.

  • Rachel and Bart are wonderful hosts. Very comfortable and relaxing place to stay on a beautiful property.

  • The house was very clean and welcoming. Good location for skiing at Sipapu with an easy 20-30 minute drive in good road conditions. The house feels spacious even with a small footprint and sitting in front of the wood burning fireplace is a great way to unwind after a long day.

    John2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a dream. This land and space is what life should be for us all. It is a perfect place for rest and recharge. So peaceful. The design is very thoughtful and welcoming. We really enjoyed playing the boardgames that were in the house as well. Will return!

    Meg2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • This home is beautiful, from it's antique floor-to-ceiling doors to it's beautiful cottonwood shaded location. You will not be disappointed.

    Jessica2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • This casita is absolutely adorable and inspiring. The setting is amazing, the attention to detail superb and it's one of the best short term rental properties I've stayed in, and I've stayed in a lot! Hope to stay in the tiny house on the property next time!

  • Such a cozy space. Love that firewood was provided. A great touch. The minimalist and relaxing aesthetic was wonderful. Gorgeous bathroom. Comfortable couch. We appreciated the radiant heat floors, washer and dryer and simple guidebook to the workings of the house.

  • Our stay and Sombra del Sol in Española was just amazing! The place is located near both Santa Fe and Taos so it's perfect for exploring both cities as well as the rest of the hidden gems of northern New Mexico! There are great places to eat nearby and the place is very easy to find. Margaret and Peter's place is sparking clean and very cozy, with everything we needed right there! And finally, Margaret and Peter are hands down the best hosts we have had in any travel! The were so attentive, they gave us the best local tips for places to eat and get souvenirs or New Mexican spices, and took care of us from the very minute we arrived! We are so grateful to have met them and have new friends in New Mexico! Definitely will be coming back to explore more of that beautiful land!

  • A cute 2 bedroom casita with a private courtyard that is conveniently placed to seeing beautiful Northern New Mexico. My wife and I stayed there for a couple months in the early fall and it was perfect since we were working in Santa Fe. Peter and Margaret are very unobtrusive but always there and helpful when you need them. And the beds are comfy:)

This cozy 2-story home sits on 10 acres of cottonwoods, sage, juniper & willow. A creek runs along the edge of the land with views of Cerro Pedernal & several mountain ranges. Animals welcome! We're within short distance of amazing hiking & hot springs including Plaza Blanca, Ghost Ranch & Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs. (If Raven is already booked, check out Hawk House also on our land!) Also offer licensed private massage +/ or Ayurvedic consultations upon request. Write host to inquire.
The house has a spacious upstairs loft bedroom with a queen bed, a full downstairs kitchen with living room and bunk bed, (2 stacked single beds), set apart enough to feel like it's an extra room, washer/ dryer, couch and full bathroom with jacuzzi. It is minimal and clean, with strong bones built in '07. It overlooks a valley of Cottonwood trees, sagebrush, willow and juniper, with lots of walking opportunities. For heating: I have the option of either a propane heater and/ or an electric infrared heater. Both are strong enough to heat the space on their own. I encourage folks to use the electric heater, when possible, as all of the land's electricity comes from our solar panels. But if you prefer/ need the extra help with propane heat, please be my guest. ;) Perfect for either the single artist, looking to be alone and with nature, and/ or a family or group, sleeping up to 4.
  • Highly recommend this house! The private (but close to the main road) location, the beautiful scenery and the access to walk along the creek were worth the price of admission alone. But luckily the house is beautiful and had everything we needed to cook, relax, and entertain ourselves. If you want to stay in Abiquiu, stay here!

  • Quiet, cozy and comfortable. The upstairs bed is really nice (the bunks on the first floor are less luxurious :) ), the stars were incredible (it is relatively remote), and it is well located for some day hikes and adventures in the area.

  • Aimee’s place is on a beautiful property with breathtaking views. We wished we had more time to explore but enjoyed what we could with the time we had. Cozy and perfect to lay our heads for a night and to wake up in such a beautiful area.

On the most historic Camino Real, the Royal Road. We are approximately halfway between Santa Fe and Taos in colorful Española. We are actually in the ancient village of Santa Cruz which is older than Española but has been recently annexed by them.
It a has a small town vibe with many wonderful restaurants, a wildlife center, museums and Indian Pueblos and ceremonies. The holy Cross Church, La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada was built in the 1600's by the church members. It holds 1600 and 1700 priceless folk art. I am available for tours of the church and adobe homes around this plaza.
This is a sweet little village, more like Europe than the USA. The church is very active and there are many services on Sunday and some others throughout the week. We have some crime in this area but if we keep things locked they usually move on to easier pickings. My neighbors in this area are wonderful and watch for any suspicious activity. All the units have security doors. Less than a mile from here is El Paragua an old famous restaurant with great Mexican food. I saw Robert Redford there a few years ago. The Wild life Center, fishing, Puye Cliffs, (a mini Bandelier, no dogs allowed), hiking, etc abound.
  • This was great space! It old building that has been repurposed which is something I appreciate. Had a small kitchen and even an extra bed. The bathroom was nice and extras such tooth paste and lotion were available for the guest. Kathryn had plenty restaurant suggestions and even offered a walking tour of the local area. She was always available and checked in just in case I needed anything.

Part of a lovely organic farm along the Chama River in Medanales, neighboring Abiquiu. Within a short travel distance are countless historical, cultural, natural and recreational treasures. The casita has a small living/kitchen area, a full bathroom with Mexican tile, and a separate bedroom that sleeps two comfortably. The loft is accessed through the bedroom and can accomodate an additional child or adult A covered portal with a wood stove overlooks the vineyard and fields.
Great for artists, writers, healers, nature lovers, explorers or people just in need of rest and relaxation
Medanales is a small agricultural community just south of Abiquiu of Georgia O’Keeffe fame. The landscape varies from pastures to badlands, with the magic Sierra Negra on the horizon.
  • Wonderful hosts. Beautiful land. What could be better. Highly recommended from a seasoned traveler.

    Levi2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa is a superb host of a lovely little casita. There were many guidebooks available and Lisa gave us a number of excellent tips. She added that special touch of having a bottle of wine and cheese to welcome us. Would love to come back.

    Bernadette2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa’s place is absolutely charming and pristine. She is a warm and welcoming host who left us red wine and goat cheese. We felt very cared for but also respected regarding our space. This little place is a gem and so are these hosts!!!

    Mia2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The casita at Lisa's Place is a retreat. A hideaway. A place to experience the high desert of New Mexico's climate and environment. It's a beautiful and simple space that is clean as a whistle, the space was cozy and warm against the Winter air outside, and the views of the stars were phenomenal. We wanted a place to relax, be together, read with a glass of wine and not worry about the world, and we got it all in spades! Plus we had a comfortable bed to sleep in, plenty of simple cooking stuff on hand, and the joy of being in the presence of two hosts that are generous and as out-of-the-way as you can imagine. Go and enjoy!

    Timothy2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet and off the beaten path, yet an easy drive to Asante Fe, Ojo Caliente & more!

    Cheryl2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time here at Lisa's casita on the farm property in Medanales. Very comfortable spot and she is a gracious and hospitable host. Would love to come back and see it in springtime when it's a little more lush but even in November it was a lovely spot to stay. We came out to NM for the Ojo Calientes hot springs, so this location worked out well for us. Peaceful and quiet at night, just out of the way enough, very little light pollution and great for star watching at night. Also very nearby the Georgia O'Keeffe museum house, which came as a pleasant surprise for us and was totally worth visiting (especially if you enjoy a good time capsule!). We hope to come back!

    Craig F2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's casita is beautiful, with stunning views of the mountains, and sunrise. It's so quiet the only sound I heard at night was an owl. Her property borders the Chama river and there's a deck and different places to sit, in sun and shade, overlooking it. Spending time there was restorative for me. She and Jan are warm, friendly and very accommodating. I hope to return for a longer stay!

This beautifully appointed traditional style Mongolian yurt is on acreage that borders the Embudo River in Dixon, NM. Walk with your coffee to the river and meditate. Breakfast served each morning. Dixon is a lovely community known for its history, culture and art. We have 3 Vineyards and a brewery within a few miles. There are many beautiful trails and river rafting. NOTE: If you take advantage of the 3rd complimentary night special breakfast does not come with the complimentary night.
I am committed to this simple, light footprint and love to share it. We only use natural simple cleaners. Our sheets and comforters are cotton and down. Everything is washed in environmentally safe detergents with no scents and dried in the sunshine. The floors are wood. Our food is local and organic whenever possible. We avoid disposable products unless they are compostable. We surround your stay with natural beauty, natural local body care products and local art! The Queen size organic cotton mattress is a firm bed. We use 500 count cotton sheets. This yurt is off grid. Lighting is solar or USB. Cell phones can be charged by USB. There is power on the outdoor kitchen. Cell phone service can be sporadic on site, but it is better in town which is 1.5 miles down the road. There is is WiFi on site. The library has computers, wifi, copies, scanning and faxing. There is clean water available in the yurt in a water dispensing crock. Tea and coffee and a coffee press ate provided. Water can be boiled in the outdoor kitchen space. It is expected that guests will enjoy the local restaurants rather than preparing meals on site. There is a cooler provided in the yurt and a kitchenette area for simple meal preparation such as cheese platters, sandwiches and cold foods. During cooler weather, the wood stove can be used to cook and heat water. The outdoor kitchen has running water for 3 seasons and it is drained for the winter. Do not consider staying during cold weather unless you are proficient with a wood stove. The primitive bathroom is a greenhouse with a composting toilet and a solar shower. Note: this is a yurt and glamping with full amenities, although there is not air conditioning. If you come during the summer it is wise to learn from locals. Rest or sit in the river or visit one of our beautiful wineries or our local brewery during the heat. We have built rock pools in the river to relax and refresh in. Remember this an eco vacation with a small foot print for people seeking such an adventure.
We are located in a rural agricultural valley...known as the apple basket. Dixon is an hour north of Santa Fe and 40 minutes south of Taos. Sipapu ski valley is 40 minutes away. We are 40 minutes from Ojo Caliente Resort and hot springs. All drives are lovely...we are on the Taos High Road Scenic Route. We have rafting, paddle boarding, hiking, galleries, skiing, fishing, shopping and so much more. The annual Dixon Studio Tour just completed. Book early for next year. Stay with us and ski Sipapu! Even in the winter we have beautiful sunny days!

T R A N Q U I L O A tranquil and rustic experience secluded yet easily accessible on a hillside below the stunning Cerrito Blanco in Abiquiu. This large, 24-foot yurt makes the perfect weekend or week-long getaway for a couple or family looking for a unique experience. Sip your coffee (an organic medium roast is provided) on the deck, practice yoga, meditate, read/write, gaze up at the Milky Way, bird watch and take in the beauty of the Chama River Valley, right in the heart of Tewa country!
T H E S E T T I N G Step outside and you’re in a high desert paradise, at 6,000 feet elevation in the Chama River Valley. Step inside the Yurt and marvel at the Central Asian decor, craftsman style with stunning woodwork details. There is a bright & equipped kitchen, bathroom with European-style shower, indoor seating area with a futon and breakfast bar, as well as a covered outdoor patio for enjoying dinner on warm summer nights. The Annex is located about 50 steps down a path (outside) from the Yurt. You will have to walk down the path from the Yurt to use the bathroom or kitchen. S L E E P I N G A R R A N G E M E N T S The yurt has a brand new Queen memory foam mattress as of January 2020, a twin bed with a trundle (also a twin), and a comfortable couch for another to sleep. In the main building (50 steps outside down a path) is another full size futon with a comfortable memory foam topper. The Yurt can accommodate 5 people comfortably. We are happy to answer any questions you have about the set-up, and we encourage you to read our reviews to get a better idea of this truly unique and unforgettable accommodation experience! A R U S T I C E X P E R I E N C E *This is a rustic experience and not ideal for guests with mobility issues or guests who are uncomfortable with keeping a wood burning stove going for heat in the middle of the night.* Please read ALL of the details before booking. Thank you :) Why we call this a "Rustic" experience: 1. You will have to walk outside about 50 steps between the Annex (Kitchen/Bathroom space) up to the Yurt. We are in the high desert, at 6,000 ft elevation. Bring slippers and a jacket and expect chilly weather at night! We will provide headlamps. 2. We have a rural septic system. All toilet paper must be discarded in the covered bin provided. 3. The shower is a standing, "in-bathroom" European style shower -- no doors or tub. A squeegee is provided to clear excess water into the drain after showering. 4. The Yurt can run hot in the summer months, especially June, July and August. Windows can be opened to provide more ventilation, but please be aware that in the heat of the day (between 12-5pm) it can get very warm in there. The Annex does have a futon couch and a very nice outdoor patio that gets great ventilation during the day, and is a great place to hang out. 5. In colder months (October-April), most guests will heat the yurt with the wood burning stove. We provide wood and kindling throughout your stay, however you'll be required to feed the fire hourly throughout the night to keep warm and cozy. We also provide space heaters to keep the chill off, if you prefer not to wake up and stoke the fire throughout the night, however it will be cold with just a space heater, especially on nights with below-freezing temperatures. Again, this is rustic and part of the experience. Most of our guests are happy to feed the fire. If you are highly sensitive to or uncomfortable with the cold, please consider booking the Yurt at a warmer time of year (May-September), or consider sleeping in the Annex -- a smaller space with a space heater that is much more efficient. Please let us know if you intend to do so, so we can make the bed there for you. 6. Rural living is rustic! There is wind! And dust! And sometimes small critters! We pride ourselves in taking great care of our guests, but if you're looking for a five star resort type of experience, this might not be the best place for you. Most of our guests leave with a very memorable experience, and many return! If there is anything we can do to make your stay extra special, please let us know.
The yurt is located less than 2 miles from the beautiful sandstone formations of Plaza Blanca & Dar Al Islam (the largest adobe structure in North America!), one of Georgia O'Keeffe's favorite painting locations. Abiquiu is a wonderful place in itself, and this sweet, truly unique yurt makes a great home base for some memorable adventures. If you're planning to cook a lot during your stay, we recommend picking up groceries in Santa Fe or Taos. Bode's General Store (1.5 miles away) is pricey but well stocked. There are just a few restaurants in Abiquiu. Mamacita's Pizzeria (closed Mondays), Bode's General Store has a deli with takeout and dine-in options, and the Abiquiu Inn has a great restaurant. A 20 minute drive to El Rito and you can experience a classic New Mexican family restaurant, El Farolito. Check the current hours and be sure to bring cash.
  • What a great refuge in a small town. So convenient to other places (4 mins from Plaza Blanca, 30 mins from Ojo Caliente) and such a cozy spot to unwind after a day of exploring. The annex was also great so we could cook for some of our meals and have a hot shower. Mornings were perfect with French press coffee and visits from their puppy!

  • The location - at the base of Cerrito Blanco and above the Rio Chama - and the calming interior of the yurt itself make this a special place. We visited in cold weather, and Erin and Mehedi were super prompt and helpful in keeping us in firewood. If you're looking for a rustic contemplative space in the Abiquiu area, a hard spot to beat!

  • It is a very comfortable, cozy, and neat place to rent, Ms. Deborah was very kind and reply to me immediately when I needed the help. My fellows and I very liked the place, wish I could add up some photos, it was snowing in the morning, and looking at it through the windows was just marvelous.

This is a separate house with only you staying there. All surfaces are cleaned off before every guest arrival and I will make sure all doorknobs and other commonly touched surfaces are wiped down. Guest House on property including weaving studio and adobe works. Large and comfortable place for exploring Northern New Mexico. We allow pets but do be aware that we have a large dog who will herd you in and out of the drive, depending how active he's feeling; anyway he'll make a lot of noise.
Guest house in a traditional village and weaving studio, north of Santa Fe, next to the historic town of Chimayo. Handy for visiting northern New Mexico and good for families and small groups. 900 sq.ft. guest house is set up studio style with double bed,and single bed. There is a semi attached back bedroom with 2 single beds and half bath; for which the extra per person charge applies. James office is also attached divided from studio by a door, stairs and another door. Beds are homemade with foam mattresses and mattress pads. Kitchen has electric burners, microwave, toaster oven, refrigerator and all cooking and eating utensils. Barbeque grill also available. Kitchen ceiling is low upon entering but rises as you move into the space. Satellite TV, DVD player, and wi-fi. This is a rural service area so wi-fi can be slow. Washer/dryer. Board games, wide variety of reading material and electric piano. Eclectic decor with Leigh's weaving and various African arts and crafts from our occasional African vendors. Leigh has a weaving studio with 3 looms. There is a large dog who may herd you in and out the drive and 1 cat,. Ocho Guest House is 20 miles north of Santa Fe, 5 miles south of Espanola , 45 miles south of Taos and 20 miles east of Abiquiu. Grocery stores and restaurants are 10 minutes away, including one of the best traditional New Mexican restaurants. The Santa Cruz river and BLM land for walking/running is at the end of the road. We also now have a portable swamp cooler.
La Puebla is an area that has mostly been considered an outlying neighborhood of the village of Chimayo. It now pretty much serves as a mixed residential area where people work in Santa Fe, Espanola, and Los Alamos. There still exists some farming.
  • Leigh's place is very eclectic and rustic, but also very comfortable. The bed is very comfy and my dog really enjoyed sniffing around the property. Leigh also provided some really good coffee grounds for my morning coffee. But just a warning, there are a lot of barking dogs in the neighbourhood, so earplugs come in handy.

    Kirk2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious and perfectly eccentric place! Leigh was very easy to communicate with.

    Etta2020-03-14T00:00:00Z

    Jim2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Leigh’s guest house! Leigh was friendly and accommodating, and the space was so comfortable with lots of cool, unique touches. With laundry on-site and some fresh-ground coffee thoughtfully left in the fridge before we arrived, it was the perfect spot to post up as we drove across the country. Keep your eyes peeled for some of Leigh’s weaving work throughout the guest house while you’re there!

  • Leigh's studio was a comfortable place to break up our drive from Texas to Colorado. Check-in was easy, Leigh met us upon arrival to make sure we had everything we needed and the space was perfect for the two of us and our senior Pug. We got it late and left early, but we got a good night's sleep and nice shower in the morning. It offered a lot of personal character and tips for the area. We enjoyed our time here, though brief.

  • This is a well-loved New Mexican family adobe home in a beautiful setting. Lucy and Johnny are delightful, generous and kind hosts. We are so grateful for their kind hospitality.

    Doris2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a delight!!! Lucy and her family and warm, kind people. We arrived around 6pm but it was cold and dark, Lucy invites us to go have dinner at her place and the food was amazing, Frito Pie and homemade goods!! Just amazing!! We learned about her family story in the area, got some tips on what to do the next day. The whole experience was amazing! Great comfy, charming house, Dvd’s, Vhc to watch. Her husband had the fire going in our house before we got in. Just great, great, great! We will be back!

    Larissa2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • A great example of a small New Mexico working farm with authentic buildings. Near Ghost Ranch and Plaza Blanca. Spend some time with the Garcia family.

    Bruce2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • The farm house is a great place to stay! Lucy was extremely helpful when finding the location, and provided groceries for breakfast which were very useful for us when cooking during our stay. She made sure that our entire stay was very comfortable!

    Paige2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lucy’s family farmhouse provided for a true New Mexico experience. You won’t find this kind of home and space outside of New Mexico. Lucy was very gracious when we arrived and we loved learning about her family’s history. We also loved seeing her farm animals! This is a very unique and memorable Air BnB.

    Stacey2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • What lovely hosts the Garcias are! The fridge was full of groceries, including plums, squash and chillies from their vegetable garden. We really enjoyed the house - a spacious and old adobe, with a long shaded porch and its own yard. We only wish we hadn't arrived in the dark - but the Garcias drove out to meet us on 84 and guided us quickly back to their place.

    Susanna2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great hospitality, amazing relaxing hospitality and culture.

    Eric2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint farmhouse that is comfortable and homey. Lucy and Johnny are warm and wonderful hosts. A great option for guests with pets. Quiet. Nice garden and fruit trees that were bearing when we were there.

  • This is a wonderful home in which Robin shares the whole house with you. I am a hiker on crutches and the extra long bathtub was an especially nice treat each night after my hike. I would definitely stay here again.

    Judy2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Robin is an excellent host! She went above and beyond to help me feel at home and welcome! I will forever be grateful to Robin for sharing her space with me!

    Debbie2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Travelers can expect a gracious host and a very peaceful and clean environment.

    Marcus2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • I will certainly spend more time with Robin if I get the chance. Perfect time of year to enjoy the adobe home, and there were fruit trees to be picked everywhere you looked. Take advantage of Robin's knowledge on local trails: the adjoining properties have a beautiful view of the NM sunset.

    Cook2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Robin is fantastic--full of colorful stories and wonderful tips. She is very welcoming and will ensure you make the most of your stay. Robin also brews a mean cup of coffee.

    Cook2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Robin is welcoming, kind, well traveled, and cultured so she is very easy to get along with for mature travelers. She was happy to share her home, taught me a bit about weaving, and she actually walked with me on one of the local hiking trails. Definetly a good place to stay.

    Leena2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Robin was an AMAZING host and openly shared her home and life with me. The house is an Adobe, fairly rural, but connected to main roads and was not a problem in terms of transportation. I spent most of my time in Santa Fe visiting a family member. Buuuuttt, I wish I could have spent much more time exploring the mountains of the north Santa Fe/Chimayo area using Robin’s suggestions. The homestead is beautiful and peaceful (mornings were the best!) and Robin’s weaving, life stories, and family are built into the character of the house. And she’s happy to share if you’re interested - and gives you space if you’re not. I spent a week and could have stayed a month more. 5 stars for sure.

    Morgan2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place located in the peaceful corners of Chimayo. Robin's warm and friendly as a host with plenty of stories to share. House is more than comfortable. Great hike nearby!

Carl and Gretchen Valdez designed La Lomita, an efficient, solar adobe 2 br/2 bath home, with hospitality and spirituality in mind. It sits on 9 acres, is very private, yet convenient to stores, restaurants and hospital. Think healing, rest, mystery.
La Lomita is in the center of wonderful northern New Mexican treasures; the healing waters of Ojo Caliente mineral springs, Abiquiu's Georgia O'Keefe scenery, the native splendors of Taos and Santa Fe, the artists' trail of Chimayó and Truchas, historical Los Alamos and Bandalier National monument, Puye Cliffs, and more.
We love the open space, blue sky, variety of southwestern plants and birds (hummingbirds, robins, jays, eagles, roadrunners), yipping coyotes (they will avoid you), a million stars, and fragrances of juniper, piñon and sage.
  • La Lomita is such a gem!

    Cliff & Lindsay2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Carl and Gretchen's place is a fantastic location for peace, quiet, and delicious food! Easy check-in and check-out, thoughtful notes, and prompt communication. We look forward to our next stay here!

  • A great stay in a truly magical part of New Mexico.

    Stephanie2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely serene setting with beautiful quiet sunsets and sunrises. Low impact check in and check out. Highly recommend

    Benjamin2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • La Lomita is a wonderful home nested in an extreme tranquil and safe neighbourhood, and close to the main spots, from Ghost Ranch to the West to Taos Pueblo to the East. The closeness of Espanola is very practical for grocery shops. The house is very clean, very well furnished, with many books to read and board games to play. The beds are very comfortable; everything in the bathrooms works well. The high-ceiling living room is homey and relaxing. The kitchen is fully equipped, and there are seasonings and spices at disposal. What is truly priceless is to enjoy breakfast in the perfect silence of the patio panorama, and the starry sky at night. The owners and the property manager are very responsive and helpful. All in all, a very good price/quality ratio. We will not miss the chance to spend more time at this amazing place in the future!

    Andrea2019-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We just love La Lomita. It is such a lovely space and on amazing land.

  • We got upgraded to the larger suite next door due to a schedule issue and it was very kind of this host to honor our reservation by giving us this upgrade. We really wanted to be able to soak in the hot tub after long days of hiking and exploring, and Parmatma made sure the hot tub was clean and ready to go for us. It was awesome. The view from the gazebo is amazing in all directions. We are so glad we came to New Mexico and stayed here.

The house is super pretty and cozy, they have a very nice bohemian style, when we checked in they gave us the whole tour and a nice welcome. The kitchen is full equipped with everything you need to prepare your breakfast and they give you very yummy snacks too. Also you have a really cool view of the mountains.
