It would be impossible to overstate the beauty of this place in the woods. The host described it as paradise, and I can’t help but agree. Although the guest house is very close to the main house, and those looking for seclusion may be disappointed, the host was sensitive to issues of privacy. The house itself is a fascinating work of architecture. Those who are familiar with the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, Antonio Gaudi, and even Mies van der Rohe, will find interesting parallels in this space. (I thought of Mies every night, getting out of the shower in front of a shadeless picture window.) The furniture inside consists of artfully selected pieces chosen especially for the space—beautiful, but not especially comfortable. I was very glad I remembered my hammock and could enjoy the forest and a book while lying under the trees rather than trying to relax inside the house. The location of the rental just above Limekiln State Park and West Side Preserve is ideal for hikers.

We thoroughly enjoyed our month on San Juan Island, definitely enhanced by our comfortable, pleasant and friendly accommodations. Annete is a great communicator and very responsive to questions. The unit is newly refurbished, clean and well appointed. The location is also excellent within a 10-minute walk to downtown, groceries and great restaurants. We did not bring a car to the island; instead we walked and biked all around, occasionally using the local transit options. We look forward to visiting again, and would gladly stay here again in the future.

What a wonderful spot! Gorgeous views, quiet and serene, a perfect home base to explore the whole island. The kitchen was great for cooking, and we enjoyed several meals on the deck, listening to the birds and taking in the views. Lisa was a great host, and even though her house was nearby, it felt very separate. I highly recommend staying here, and hope to return on future visits to the island!

This is a magical place. Woods all around. Small but just what we needed. Perfect and comfortable.
