Guesthouse holiday rentals in Otago Region

My stay in Blueskin Bay was approaching the two year anniversary of my daughter’s death. I was seeking to have solitude to reflect and honour her memory. Helen and Sam’s Airbnb was perfect in this respect - in spite of the fact that my visit coincided with very cold snap. The space was able to be kept warm and cosy with electric blanket, electric oil freestanding heater and dehumidifier. I appreciated the kind touches designed to make feel welcome. I found Helen and Sam to be kind welcoming hosts. Their accommodation became for me an ideal ‘hermitage’ in my journey of grief and loss. Its proximity to the Church where my daughter’s ashes are was ideal. I enjoyed walking around the Orokonui Lagoon when the weather permitted and enjoyed a couple of ales at the nearby ARC brewery at Warrington. Waitati is well served with two cafes and a boutique grocery store. Thanks Helen and Sam

A true bed and breakfast in a sea of stale air bnbs! Sharon met me upon arrival and showed me to my private abode in the center of a working cherry (and other things!) farm. The fridge was stocked with eggs, milk, butter and bread, and there was a nespresso machine + a selection of teas. She also gave me a book of local wineries and their backgrounds which I greatly appreciated and used throughout my stay. Would stay here again if I’m ever back in the area!

Stu’s guesthouse was a lovely getaway in New Zealand! Close to Queenstown, ZQN airport, and to many outdoor activities. Very peaceful and private, soft linens, and felt right at home. It’s clear that this is not a cookie cutter Airbnb, but a real guesthouse, and it shows in the fit and finish of the property, and Stu’s helpful and kind approach to hosting. I would stay again in a heartbeat!

Nice spot with awesome access to the lake, good parking and outside bath was great. Tidy cabin with good heating. Would recommend.

This place was amazing, only stayed one night and was planning to have dinner in the city, but once we saw the views from the front patio - we decided to stay in for dinner and watch the sunset from home !! Very clean place as well, and impressed by how many amenities they provided. Would definitely stay here again !

It was a great little place to stay - with a very comfortable bed! Beautiful surroundings. Chris answered messages quickly and was very helpful. Highly recommend and I will be booking in again when next in Dunedin.

This was a perfect stay, convenient right across the bus stop and Foursquare. I felt so at home and so welcome. Arrowtown is a real hidden gem and it was a manageable walking distance into town to explore further. Great suggestions in the compendium, comfortable and warm bed and the heat pump was a bonus, although I didn’t need it much with the lovely sunny few days. I would stay again in a heartbeat!

Clean and comfortable space with everything you need. Comfy bed and bathroom was nice.

We really loved our stay here. Simple, modern with all the perfect touches - soft snuggly towels, comfortable bed, warm floors, yummy smelling hand soaps, dimming lights, nice toilet paper. Even little chocs on our arrival, with granola and nice milk. Everything had a touch of care and Aroha to it. Private, quiet and warm. We were lucky enough to be visited by the dog Jet who came over for a scratch. Easy access. Everything you need.

This is a very new one bedroom apartment separated off from a house in a residential neighborhood about 15 minutes driving time from Queenstown. The space is very comfortable and the views from the area are really special. Emma and Paul were very proactive and caring, helping me with several issues that arose during my stay. The bed is very nice and the shower was great. Guests should know that as of 2025 Emma has an infant, so from time to time you can hear crying or playing inside the apartment. It's not bad, but you should have earplugs if you think that might bother you.

We loved our 3 night stay. Great location and had everything we needed. Nice tidy place and plenty of space for us to relax after a day of exploring! Would stay again

We really enjoyed our one night stay. it was just what we were looking for - quiet, cosy, peaceful and affordable. Loved having the fire and especially appreciated it being lit before we arrived. James and Mary were incredibly kind and friendly and their cottage was set up with everything we could have needed. The bed was very cosy and warm, no need to use extra heating even in the middle of a very cold weather system. Thanks so much James and Mary!

Thank you Steph for such a beautiful stay. The photos did not do the room justice, it was impeccably clean with everything you could need for your stay. We appreciated the heat hump, heated towel rack and floors for our winter stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to book Steph’s place again.

The AirBnb was a beautiful place for our holiday and we were grateful that Sunny and the owners were comfortable with us taking some photos at the accommodation before our wedding. We found the place very homey and peaceful, with beautiful landscaping and scenery and not too far from the city. The owners were also friendly and approachable and happy to help with any questions we had - we would recommend this accommodation to anybody looking to holiday away from busy Central Queenstown!

We had a wonderful stay at Zelda’s place in Twizel! The apartment was cozy, clean, and had a beautiful view of the mountains — truly a perfect spot to unwind. Its location was also ideal, being just a short drive to the town center with easy access to supermarkets and great local restaurants. Zelda was an incredibly kind and welcoming host, and we really appreciated her hospitality. It was also such a joy to meet her lovely dog, Bea — she made our stay even more special. Thank you for sharing your beautiful space with us, Zelda. We’d love to return one day!

Our stay at Mei's place was great. Very comfortable and cosy and has everything you need, with a fully equipped kitchen. There were 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 kids, and felt quite comfortable. The accommodation was exactly as shown and nice and clean. The wifi was good which was really helpful for work purposes. We also really enjoyed the fire pit. Would definitely recommend it.

Cosy and beautiful apartment with a nice view to boot! Came with a nice little garden with a tree house and trampoline that kids will always want to jump in. About 8 min into the main town.

The hostess is very welcoming. The room was cozy and had all the basics covered. Waking up to an amazing view of the snowy mountains right outside the window was the best part! Additionally Wi-Fi is a bit spotty.

Great stay! Tania’s place is in a beautiful, peaceful neighborhood—super quiet and relaxing. The room was very clean, and it’s just about 45 minutes from the Mount Cook area, which was perfect for me. Tania was super kind and even reminded me about the hot tub—it’s tucked away in its own private spot under the stars, and honestly, it was exactly what I needed. Highly recommend!
