Buffalo Range, a "destination" Airbnb, is a working ranch nine miles south of Monument, Kansas. The surrounding open prairie has never felt a plow; horses and cattle occupy the pastures most of the year; native grasses, wildflowers, cacti, and succulents surround the homestead. We say we are "half way to everywhere in the middle of nowhere" because we're central to an amazing number of historic, geologic, recreational, photographic, and hunting sites. It will take you several days to see it all!

You will have to be able to climb stairs to get to the main bed, but there is a futon on the main level. The exterior faces the corral where our cattle and horse may sometimes be, and free range chickens that may roam toward you, especially if they think you have food. We may eventually add more animals!

The home has the original hardwood floors, cabinets, and most of the work wood he constructed himself. As my childhood home I have restored it as I remember it growing up. This unique loft has a style all of its own. Built in 1886, the loft was an apartment back in the day and has been vacant since the 50's. It has been completely renovated and restored in 2023. Saving all the original doors and trim, modern updates were made throughout. Located in the heart of downtown Oakley, it is an excellent choice to base out of and explore northwest Kansas. Downstairs space often has pop up food vendors as an added benefit.
