Buffalo Range, a "destination" Airbnb, is a working ranch nine miles south of Monument, Kansas. The surrounding open prairie has never felt a plow; horses and cattle occupy the pastures most of the year; native grasses, wildflowers, cacti, and succulents surround the homestead. We say we are "half way to everywhere in the middle of nowhere" because we're central to an amazing number of historic, geologic, recreational, photographic, and hunting sites. It will take you several days to see it all!

Brent & Jean's Grain Bin Inn (Barn)

This one bedroom Grain Bin converted to a tiny home in the heart of the Midwest, has all of the comforts of home! You have the entire bin to yourself, complete with a kitchenette, full bathroom. You will have to be able to climb stairs to get to the main bed, but there is a futon on the main level. The exterior faces the corral where our cattle and horse may sometimes be, and free range chickens that may roam toward you, especially if they think you have food. We may eventually add more animals!

The Parsonage 1873 - No Fees!

Schaffer Old Rock House

The Old Rock House is made of native limestone and was built by my father, O.C. Schaffer upon his return to Oakley in 1946 following his WWII service in the Army Air Corp. The home has the original hardwood floors, cabinets, and most of the work wood he constructed himself. As my childhood home I have restored it as I remember it growing up. This unique loft has a style all of its own. Built in 1886, the loft was an apartment back in the day and has been vacant since the 50's. It has been completely renovated and restored in 2023. Saving all the original doors and trim, modern updates were made throughout. Located in the heart of downtown Oakley, it is an excellent choice to base out of and explore northwest Kansas.
