Holiday rentals with a kayak in Mount Desert Island

Seven stars out of five! We have stayed in numerous places in Maine over the years, and given a lot of five star reviews. This one surpasses them all, hence the off the charts grade. It is incredibly well provisioned, spotless, spacious, inviting, and has an enormous porch with a view so lovely it looks fake. You can't even hear your neighbors, let alone see them. We heard loons, crows, and one very belligerent owl, but not once did we hear our neighbors. The only way you will know the tenant is home, is that a car will park opposite on the side of the house from you. The fire pit makes it easy and convenient to host a fire, even if it is only for 45 minutes or so. Kayaks are provided along with life jackets. At night you can see millions of stars. Place is so peaceful and comfortable, we almost didn't make it into the park haha. We will definitely be back!

Sydney’s house was perfect for our family! It was clean, with beautiful views on a quiet, private street. The house had plenty of toiletries, we didn’t need to buy any household items while there. The hot tub was clean and perfect for a breezy afternoon looking out at the water. Sydney was a great host, providing tons of recommendations on places to dine and sites to see. Perfect location to visit both the Schoodic Peninsula and Acadia National Park/Bar Harbor! Would love to stay here again.

My family loved our stay! The house was beautiful, peaceful, and right by the lake. There was lots to do at the with all the kayaks, canoes, paddle boards available to explore the lake. We spent a couple of days exploring Acadia, but enjoyed just staying at the house enjoying the scenario. James was also a very responsive host.

Great stay for our family of 5 adults and 3 toddlers! Lots to do and great proximity to Acadia/Bar Harbor. House was well supplied with clear instructions. Brady also connected with us before the stay and kept in touch for anything that came up as a concern. Thank you!

We stayed at this place for a weekend! Family of 4! Everything was great! Very peaceful surroundings! Quite, private and gorgeous. We enjoyed kayaking, I managed to cut white perch from the ramp, used grill once. Place looks new and welcoming. I wish we had more time to spend at the house. Bar Harbor/Acadia/Sand Beach is less then an hour away, easy access with no traffic. Meghan was very responsive! Our flight was not until 6pm and she allowed for a late check out. Book this place with no doubt, you will not regret. Will comfortably accommodate a family of 5.

Took a family trip to Acadia and this was a great place to stay. The house was very comfortable and enjoyed the on-site hiking trails and sitting down at the lake and having a wine. Appreciate the quick response from the owner when I had a question. Great getaway!!! Thank you for a memorable stay!

The accommodations were wonderful! Very well decorated, comfy beds and an amazing shower! There is a full kitchen with everything you would need! Ty is an amazing and super nice host! He provided fantastic recommendations for places to eat and things to do while visiting the area. Highly recommend!

We loved staying at this lake house. The kayaks were an added bonus that my husband and kids enjoyed. One of the neighbors even gave us a boat ride on the pond to the floating slide and the kids had a blast jumping off of it. The boys caught lots of fish right off shore. It was a great place to stay away from the city on our vacation.

Couldn’t have asked for a better spot to spend a week in Maine. 2/2 was perfect for us all to share and the common/kitchen area was excellent. And the deck! What a view! Jack enjoyed the BB gun, the kid in him came roaring out. ;-)

My mother and I loved our stay at Tugwassa. When we weren’t exploring the nearby area, we spent our time looking out at the pond, enjoying the fire, and reading Mrs. Osborne’s poems! The cottage is beautifully decorated with a well-equipped kitchen. I loved taking the time to appreciate all the artwork and ornaments. Anne is very welcoming and hospitable - she has many great local recommendations and is nearby if you need any help. I’m looking forward to coming back again!

The cabin was breathtaking, with a history painted and photographed among her walls. Perfect amount of space to accommodate a family should you have one. The morning sunrise was spiritual, and humbling. Host was incredibly friendly and accommodating for our dog. Arjuna. Will absolutely be returning. Thank you for an amazing and beautiful experience.

What a cool house! Very unassuming from the pictures. It's like a time capsule -- shag carpet, retro wallpaper, vintage fixtures and paneling. Although old, everything was clean upon arrival. I love old things so I enjoyed the aesthetic, although for someone with heavy allergies or sensitivities, the age and moisture may be something to consider. That being said, I have chronic allergies and sinusitis and I would 100% stay here again. The property itself is the focal point and the draw. It's set on a point of the cove where you can hear and see the seals in the distance, and you feel like you're on an island. While we were there, the sun came up at 4:30 every morning and we were out on the back deck at 4:45 with coffee in hand. So peaceful and serene! Use of their kayaks and life vests was an added bonus -- note to self, the islands in the distance are further than they look!! :) The kitchen was well equipped for cooking, and we enjoyed the use of the back grill. Lovely home!

Absolutely loved my stay here! If you’re looking for somewhere very rural, quiet and secluded, this is a perfect place. It’s fit for one or two people, it was so incredibly cute and whimsical, definitely the best place I’ve ever stayed!

Beautiful, serene location and a great cabin. We enjoyed the view, kayaking, and the thoughtful welcome. The cabin is very cute and had everything we needed. Easy to get to local attractions. Would definitely stay here again. Be sure to check out the Williams Family Farm store at the main road.

Beautiful cottage in pristine forest. Private and cozy. Lovely hosts. Access to gorgeous lake with loon songs in the background. Hope to come back again! Nature enthusiasts will love this little gem!

It was a new, very clean, and beautiful cottage. Lots of homey touches in the cabin. Sara was awesome about giving suggestions of things to do in the area and places to eat. She was very quick to respond to any and all questions.

Loved our stay at the cabin! The home was stocked with everything you need in the kitchen, has the most beautiful scenery to wake up to (we also were able to see the Northern Lights at night!) and while the bathroom is small, it was carefully thought through and functional. It is a bit of a drive to Acadia National Park and dining options, but we didn’t mind it with the lovely fall scenery along the way. The host was very responsive and friendly, we would definitely stay here again.

Spent 2 nights in the wagon and it was just as described and pictured. I appreciated the clean portapotty and the hand washing station. The location near the beach was peaceful and idyllic. Thank you for sharing your little slice of Vacationland, Lily!

Loved this nature find...we swam, we canoed, we fired up the campfire with s'mores galore...with pristine views! All as described and great thoughtful touches in the cabin and yard. We had a nature oasis here that was hard to leave...but we also had some fun finds locally with dinner across the pond at the stunning Toddy Pond Farm! And we meandered over to The Lost Kitchen shop which is only 20 mins away.

We loved staying at the Little Lodge! Patty was very helpful throughout our stay and the provided maps and recommendations were really nice for navigating the area. The cabin was also so cute and cozily decorated throughout! We went to Acadia national park and it was definitely worth the slightly longer drive. Overall this was a great experience for our group and we would definitely recommend staying here if you’re visiting Downeast Maine!!

We had such an amazing stay at the Little G! The cottage was absolutely perfect: squeaky clean, peaceful, cozy/comfy, and had ALL the essentials. Terri & Tim truly thought of everything! Each time we opened another drawer or cabinet, we were surprised to find things we didn't even know we needed! We really enjoyed the tub for two and even the refreshing outdoor shower. Though it stayed in the 40s & 50s for our stay (brrrr), the shower was plenty hot! We are already looking forward to our next visit!

We had such an incredible time staying ay Jennifers. The cabin was so cozy, its truly is a Maine family summer cabin, you can feel all fun and good times that have been had there. It was perfectly accommodating given its rustic feel. The beach and surrounding woods are gorgeous and peaceful. We swam off the rocks every day and loved taking the paths between the cabins. And it is a perfect location between Blue Hill and Stonington, with the little enclave of Deer Isle down the road. But if we weren't so keen on exploring the Island, we would've never left the property. Truly a gem, we hope to be back!

My mother and I stayed here for a peaceful weekend and a nearby wedding. As lifelong Mainers, we were looking for a rustic camp on the water with a screened porch, and this place delivered. We spent our time reading, napping, walking, and even doing a little work (the internet was surprisingly fast). It was so nice that we could include our small dog with us as well. While the camp has a rustic charm, it’s thoughtfully outfitted with modern comforts: comfy beds, quality linens, a smart TV, reliable Wi-Fi, and a well-stocked kitchen. The hosts even provided extras most don’t—like paper goods, baggies, matches, and toiletries—and were nearby if anything was needed. They even included shower essentials if you happened to forget any. The sunrise was spectacular from the front porch. Loons swam by daily. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and wish we could have extended it---we would definitely book again! Thank you for being amazing hosts!
