Kuroganetei — A 244-Year Samurai Residence

A 244-year-old Satsuma samurai residence that was about to be sold as a vacant lot.The carpenter's handwritten inscription from Tenmei 2 (1782) still remains in the attic. You can only see it here in Kagoshima A red earthen-walled room with a defensive passageway originating from the Ryukyu period, through which only distinguished guests were allowed to pass. A private accommodation for one group per day, where real history lives on. The grounds are home to the Kirishima City-designated Kurogane Mochi tree, which gave rise to the name "Kurogane-niwa", and at night, when the lights are turned off, the sky is filled with stars. This mansion was built in Tenmei 2 (1782). The carpenter's ink markings that remain in the attic tell the story of 244 years. Originally, it was planned to be put up for sale as a vacant lot, but "It's too good to break" With this in mind, the current owner, Yuki Tachimoto, took over this residence. Kurogane-tei is an entire building rental inn that has been restored to its original appearance, with only one group per day. About 15-20 minutes by car from Kagoshima Airport. While many popular accommodations in the Kirishima area are 40 to 60 minutes away by mountain pass, Kurokajido offers both overwhelming proximity and tranquility. It is also said that this area was once the gateway for people travelling north and south by boat.

You can enjoy an ocean view from the bedroom on the third floor and a mountain view on the opposite side. It is a calm wave beach where palm trees and sotets grow with a tropical vibe. There are few people and cars at night, but it is a very safe area, so you can walk to the beach to see the stars at night and watch the sunrise. There is a "Oni washing board" just a short walk away, so you can enjoy playing on the island. Even on rainy days, the third-floor veranda has a roof, so you can relax and watch the sea. There is also a hot spring facility "Aoshima San Cumar" nearby, where you can enjoy meals and day-use hot springs. It is an 8-minute drive to Aoshima Golf Club.
