This impressive building was a former music school, which has been renovated and turned into stunning private duplex apartments. This ensemble is more than a century old and has some very typical Belgian features with terraces, gardens, red bricks and metal beams. This beautiful home is very quiet and has a lot of lights flowing in. It comes with a large open kitchen fully equipped, bed linen and towels are provided as well. Digital TV and Wifi are available. Bedroom with king size box-spring. The bookshelves offer a nice choice of travel guides in English and Philosophy readings in Dutch! From there, you can walk to the main square where the weekly (Saturday before 13h00) fresh market is located with a wonderful choice of vegetables, fruits, flowers and other local products. The main train station is also accessible, Brussels and Antwerp are only 20 mn away with direct lines. A place for bikes is available, a local supermarket is also nearby as well as relaxing cafes and restaurants. Finally, the National Airport of Zaventem can be reached in 15 mn by taxi when there is no traffic.

You can sleep in a newly renovated studio on one of Mechelen's oldest preserved corridors. You sleep in the middle of the center, but in a quiet street. Where you can hear the music of the latter when you sit outside. It is 500 m from the Sinte Mette garden. 500 m from the IJzerleen where there are plenty of breakfast bars. 15 min walk from the large train station. Parking lamot or big market is a 5-minute walk away. The ideal location for your stay in Mechelen.

Wonderful place in the city center, close to everything. Communication with the host was very pleasant, the room was super comfortable, the mezzanine made it feel extremely spacious and the communal kitchen was very clean. Would definitely recommend!

Fine mezzanine room with double bed

I stayed at Griet's for a week while visiting Mechelen for a conference. The attic room is peaceful, comfortable, and like a little cottage atop of her house - private yet still connected through shared hallways, bathroom, and a gorgeous backyard. Griet was communicative and flexible with check in, supplied me with eggs from her chickens, and a powerful fan when the weather got very hot for a few days. She took time to talk with me about Mechelen and Belgium, and social issues in the world. Much of the time I was in and out of my room without much interaction, but openness to conversation and exchange really brightened my days. This was hands down one of my favorite experiences facilitated through AirBnB.

We really enjoyed our stay in this cozy room. The decor was cozy and done with an eye for detail, which immediately gave a warm and homely feeling. Everything you need was present which made the stay very comfortable. Communication with the host was smooth and fast, which we really appreciated. The price-quality ratio was also very good. In short: a must for those looking for a cozy and complete stay!

I had a super nice stay. The space was clean, had a nice bed and two big pluses for me were the different options for lighting in the room and the screen for the window. Elien is a friendly host, always responded quickly to messages and is very flexible. I'd love to come back if I have to be in the area again!

Renata is super friendly and proactively helps think of solutions (my bike). The apartment is brand new and she emphasized several times that I could do as at home. This is really recommended if you are looking for a room in the center of Mechelen.
