We would love to welcome you to our unique John Scott home/apartment (with radiators!). The New Zealand Architect, John Scott, was an eccentric chap and was renowned for designing unique buildings. Our home doesn’t disappoint and we are excited to share it with the air bnb community. A self contained wing of our home is located in a tranquil spot. A five minute drive or a stroll along the lakefront will get you into town. We are a few minutes walk from the Botanical Gardens and the lakefront.

Our modern home is 15 minutes drive from Taupo but still feels like a secret hideaway. It is quiet and private with majestic views of Lake Taupo and Mount Ruapehu - the sunsets are stunning. Perfect for a getaway all year round with outdoor areas and BBQ, large windows and an indoor, double-sided fireplace. We are 5 minutes from the very beautiful Whakaipo Bay, a quiet spot to walk or have a swim. You can also enjoy plenty of bush walks around the area. Hairdryer/toiletries/iron not provided

Nestled in the peaceful area of the Botanical gardens is our place to rest and recharge your mind and spirit. Our retreat is opposite the vast reserve surrounding you with bird song and walks into the lush New Zealand native bush. We have a secluded courtyard to sit and contemplate whilst having a glass of wine and reading magazines from our selection. Enjoy an easy bike to town or "The Lions Walk" on the lakefront on our electric bikes, a super way to see the sights and come home smiling.

There is no free to air TV, Netflix etc). Off street park. You will need a car as there is no public transport.

Kowhai Retreat

We are a working professional couple who have lived in Taupo for 30 years. We have both been vaccinated for the Covid pandemic. We would like to wish a warm welcome to singles or couples. We do not accommodate infants, children or animals. We are a hop, skip and a jump from the stunning Taupo lake front and easy 25 minute stroll in to town, 3 minutes by car. Happy to host short or longer stays. Super convenient location for our Taupo events!

Great location, great shower, great beds!

I’m so happy to be able to share my wonderful home with others and supplement my pension 😀 The AirBnb rooms are separate from my part of the home. There’s 2 rooms and a bathroom. The bedroom has a queen double bed. The lounge has a king double bed and couch with a tv, a microwave, toaster, jug and fridge. It is quite roomy 6x4 mtrs. There is a small step up to the shower so take care coming out of it. You will enjoy beautiful Taupo. 😎

Hi Belinda and Andy We had an amazing stay! The ambiance of the place was perfect – calm, cozy, and beautifully arranged. Everything was so well-kept and thoughtfully set up. The view was absolutely stunning and made the experience even more special. We all had a great time and truly enjoyed every moment. Kylie and Dan’s Lochside Retreat was absolutely beautiful! It was cozy, tidy and a very inviting space to relax. It was just as described however more stunning in person! Kylie and Dan had left added touches with treats, a prepared fire and candles for the outside bath. A personalised note was left on arrival. I would 100% recommend. Thank you Kylie and Dan!
