Ross and Helen gave us privacy but were there when you needed them. (Including replacing a toaster and kettle when there was only a slight problem with one of them.) Enjoyed watching the cows and the hares from the window, and listening to the chorus of bird song when you stepped out of the door. The small country roads were fun but a little challenging but only 2 miles from a trunk road.

The property is a lovely space. The kitchen is great, useable as a kitchen should you wish: a proper oven, pots & pans, plates & cutlery, wine glasses, moka pot, coffee machine, tea bags, ground coffee. Very thoughtful. Sal left a jug of milk in the fridge (thank you!), but do bring some supplies with you in case the local shop is closed. I hate mattresses that decide that they are the boss, and change how my shoulders connect to my torso. Here, the mattress is fantastic. I slept well as a result. My partner was impressed with the quality of the linens. The bathroom has a nice roomy shower with sufficient flow. It's easy to adjust, and will produce hot water if that's what you want. The hosts were great - thank you Sal for sorting out a table at the pub. The pub next door is very nice. Decent food, wines, beer, company, and service. Book well in advance. The area has great walks, 'dog friendly' routes too where you can let them loose without risk to livestock (ask the hosts).

Six of us stayed in the Lodge and we could not have wished for anything better. Three double rooms, all en-suite. Lovely quirky place, mixing old with new, very tastily done. The lodge was immaculate and spotlessly clean. Helen the housekeeper made contact via txt nearly every day to ensure everything was ok and we did not have any problems, which was a nice touch. Stairs to lounge and kitchen are steep, so if using stairs is a problem, then lower lodge is not for you. We were a party in our sixties and seventies and had no problem, but they are steep. Great surroundings and a lovely little pub that does food within easy walking distance. Can't recommend it enough and we will be going back

Perfect accommodation for a mixture of 12 adults and children for a long weekend in very quiet surroundings ! More than usual amounts of space inside as well as out for rounders, football, hide and seek and a brilliant kitchen for large scale catering ! Many of us also enjoyed piano composition! Although we were outside a lot in between the showers, the weather sadly wasn't the best for al fresco dining, though we did manage brunch outside! The bedroom and bathroom arrangement was just right for us with two younger children in the beds in the master bedroom. One of the few properties we've found where this was the case! We discovered the nearest village of Ewyas Harold had a decent butcher and a village store which is well stocked, useful when nearest supermarkets are 20-30 mins away. There are plenty of leaflets about local attractions at the house, a walking map would be useful maybe? All in all a great stay!
