Built in 1810, this renovated cottage for two is nestled in the Lower Dales village of Kirkby Malzeard within the Nidderdale AONB. The cottage adjoins our own house and we are on site to welcome your arrival. Facilities include, ensuite double bedroom, living room with log burner and a well equipped kitchen, leading out to a private courtyard. We are 6 miles from the cathedral city of Ripon, Fountains Abbey and the market town of Masham and located in a popular walking and cycling area.
“Fiona and Nigel’s cottage is a lovely place to stay. A real attention to detail was evident in the cosy furnishings and pleasant decor, the well-equipped kitchen, and the scrupulously perfect cleanliness, but we were also made to feel right at home by a (socially distanced!) welcome from Fiona, as well as some unexpected treats in the kitchen and a well put-together guide of local eateries and attractions. Woodpecker’s cottage provides the perfect base for exploring not only the beautiful Yorkshire Dales but also the historic towns and cities to the South and East. All this made the cottage both a pleasure to occupy and fantastic value for money, and I would have no hesitation in either returning or recommending it to friends and family!”
Enjoy a peaceful village setting at this cosy terraced cottage, within reach of Ripon, Harrogate, Pateley Bridge and Fountains Abbey. This stone built cottage is perfect for that romantic getaway. Set in the village of Grewelthorpe, there are wonderful walks straight from your cottage door. The cottage is a stone’s throw from the village pub, so a great place to call in for an evening meal or just a drink with the locals, and then back to the cottage to curl up in front of the wood burner.
“Exactly as described ...cosy and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen, easy to start stove and a good tv selection. Add that to a pub within crawling distance where the welcome is genuine and warm. We are just sorry the COVID unpleasantness meant we had to leave a day early... pubs etc closed. On the doorstep (literally) is a magnificent walk around Hackfall. Couldn’t ask for anything more.”
Our attractive one bed cottage has an outdoor sunken patio kitchen area with charcoal BBQ and a raised decking area. A cosy home from home, with a touch of luxury! Set at the bottom of our garden, but totally self contained with parking for one vehicle. Kirkby Malzeard is a small traditional village set in the Nidderdale AONB. Perfectly placed to be your 'Gateway to the Dales', whilst also conveniently located for visits to Harrogate and York, it's your town & country location rolled into one!
“Thump Cottage is a brilliant little stay with lots of little extras that most places don't in provide. The greeting from David & Janet was so friendly and their communication was spot on every time. The place is spotless and really well decorated. We were provided a mini hamper on arrival which was lush with Janet's AMAZING home made lemon drizzle cake it it. There are plenty of local walking areas in Kirkby Malzeard, as well as an abundance of local guides and maps provided in the cottage to help you about. There are board games, all the mod cons and the best kitchen you could ask for if you are in to your cooking. Plenty to do. Definitely a cottage not to be missed!”
