Birken Cottage - Holidays in the Herbsthausen sawmill

Our three one-room apartments — Ahorn, Linde, and Birke — combine the historic charm of Herbsthausen with contemporary design. Each apartment is completely unique and has been modernized by us. They offer space for two to three people each. The apartments are part of “Herbsthausen”, an cultural project in the town of Gartow. We are renovating a historic sawmill and transforming it into a future-oriented place for art, industrial heritage, living, working, international exchange, and relaxation.

In the middle of the forest, on a clearing, 3 km from the beautiful town of Gartow, lies our special retreat. If you are looking for peace and quiet in nature and value simplicity and goodness, this is the place. The old half-timbered building, a former stable, was renovated with high quality and sustainably with natural materials. Clay plaster on the walls and the wood-burning stove guarantee an excellent indoor climate, and the walk to the wood-fired sauna promises absolute relaxation!

Then you have found the ideal starting point for your holiday here! Away from busy streets, but directly on the Elbe bike path, a nice, fully equipped apartment awaits you in a former half-timbered house directly on the dike!

Euer Zuhause: Ein lichtdurchflutetes gemütliches Apartment über den Dächern der Altstadtinsel. In nur zwei Gehminuten seid ihr am schönen Elbstrand oder dem Marktplatz mit kleinen Cafés und Stöbergeschäften. Mit der Fahrradfähre seid ihr in 5 Minuten auf der anderen Elbseite von wo aus euch ein angenehm befahrbarer Radweg immer den Fluss entlang führt. P.s. Geheimtips für die besten Elbstrände zum picknicken und bestaunen der Sonnenuntergänge sind natürlich inklusive.

Cozy Elbe dike house with sauna & fireplace

Welcome to our cottage on the Elbe dyke! Our house and the detached guest house were built in 2021. The guest house is very cozy and stylish with many details, such as furniture, windows, etc., which have been designed and built in individual production and with a lot of love for detail. If you are looking for peace and relaxation in a stylishly furnished ambience, this is the place to be. The Elbe Cycle Path and Elbe Dike are about 200 meters from us.

Finnish cottage 1 surrounded by nature

Our Finnish hut is in the middle of nature. A maximum of 5 adults can spend their vacation here on approx. 80 square meters of living space. The house has four floors: basement, first floor, second floor and the sleeping area at the top and it is heated with wood. Wood is available. At the nearby campsite you can rent a pedal boat or a boat for excursions or a raft. The nearby cities of Dömitz, Ludwigslust and Schwerin are definitely worth a trip.

Holiday apartment "Gardenview" at the gates of Schwerin

Our 100-year-old house with adjoining new building with two individually designed apartments is located in front of the doors of Schwerin. The "Gardenview" is suitable for both business and individual travellers. It is located on the 1st floor and offers a light-flooded living space with a king-size bed, desk and small dining area with high chairs. An adjoining kitchen, as well as a separate shower room complete the apartment with garden view.

You are welcome in an idyllic location where the fox and rabbit say good night. A magical cottage to renounce civilization for a few days without sacrificing comfort. Ideally suited to treat yourself to the long-awaited peace and quiet, to learn or just to be! A break from the coronavirus problem is also possible here. If you want to sit by the fireplace in winter or swim in the Elde 100 meters away in summer, you will feel comfortable here.

Keep it simple at this peaceful and centrally-located place. Dömitz is the ideal place for a country, fishing, cycling, friends….. weekend! Maybe even move the home office to the countryside? Wi-Fi is available! The WHG has everything you need for a short break! A lockable room is available for the bicycles. E-bikes can also be charged here! In summer, you can go swimming in the Elde-Müritz Canal. Shopping in 5 minutes by bike.

Spacious tiny house

Our tiny house is the perfect base for cyclists, hikers, short-stay vacationers or ornithologists. Lake Sumter is only a few minutes' walk away. The Elbe is 4 km away. The light-flooded tiny house has 2 sleeping places with TV in the "upper deck." 2 more people can stay on a pull-out couch. There is a well-equipped kitchen and under the walnut tree you can linger and relax on a 20 sqm terrace with a grill.
