Sinds 1980 runt boer Folkert de melkveehouderij waar 110 koeien gemelkt worden. Kom tot rust in de hot tub of neem een duik in de zwemvijver nabij. Ga met de veerboot een dag naar Terschelling of Vlieland. Breng een bezoek aan de hoofdstad Leeuwarden of stap op de fiets en verken de omgeving.

Lyts Kastieltsje, a quiet cottage in an orchard

Lyts Kastieltsje is a short walk from the Waddenzee, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the largest tidal area on Earth. The cottage was once part of the cooling barn for the old fruit farm. It is surrounded by just over a hectare of gardens, orchards and meadow which provide a home for our three sheep, bees and many species of birds. The orchards contain plum, quince, medlar and different varieties of apple and pear trees. We also share the place our dog Jack, 10 ducks and some chickens.

Sleeping at the sheep & a whole herd of horses.

Wake up to the view of the dining room of a herd of horses that live in freedom, 2 pigs who make their bed every night in front of the window and sometimes a sheep walks by. Closer to the pure things in life. Therefore, there is no WiFi and no TV. However, there is a large table to play games with each other and a lovely sofa to have a glass of wine together. Making beautiful memories together together! Possibly tandem, boat and beautiful animal experiences to book!

In 2020 hebben wij het samen met veel liefde en passie omgetoverd tot een tiny house met een oude geleefde uitstraling. This is one of the most beautifully decorated homes I have ever had the pleasure of renting. Thoughtful understated elegance would be the theme for this exceptional canal house perfectly located in the quaint city of Harlingen. It is truly a sumptuous environment. There is a fine wool plaid blanket in the Blue grand room that promises instant napping. We spent over a month this Spring and my favorite pastime was reading a book under the beautiful old Gingko tree in the private garden listening to church bells and barges. The air is so clean and fresh too! Further, the Host is kind and generous. Please take care of this amazing listing because I want everything to be as it was when I come back again. Thank you for making my family feel so welcome.

We were away for another friend's wedding for a night with three friends. This Airbnb was a perfect place for us! It was a small, nicely decorated space with all the comforts and very clean. The clear instruction made it easy to find. The center was also within walking distance (15 min) so good for us for a bite to eat in Harlingen. The communication was very nice and they were also very helpful when it turned out that a friend had left something in the cottage. Highly recommended and we will probably come back again (hopefully a little longer next time!)

We felt very comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped, the bathroom is very modern and clean. A lovely place to relax. Only the stairs are very steep and not a handrail on the one hand, so small children could fall. In the cowshed, a very small calf could be viewed. It is a pity that the cows are no longer milked. We would have liked to try that;-)

It felt like we had two cottages for the price of one. An upper floor, fresh and particularly tastefully furnished. Lots of nice touches. Beautiful crockery, nice elaborate bird theme, cozy sitting area by the window overlooking the canal. Downstairs a beautiful bathroom and - few steps outside - a very cozy lounge with jungle wallpaper, a wonderfully large corner sofa, cozy mood lights and also again overlooking the canal. Here we relaxed in the evening by the wood stove. Likeable hostess. In short: lots of quality for little money. We would go back here in a heartbeat.
