The Shieling is a recently built one bedroomed annex finished to a very high standard with it's own private access, private patio area and views of our large garden. It adjoins our family home in the quiet village of Fulbourn, near to Cambridge. It is ideally located for visits to Cambridge, Addenbrooke's, Newmarket etc. Please note we are not within walking distance of Cambridge but it is very easily accessible by car, park and ride, taxi or bike. There are buses but they are a bit slow.
“Lou was an excellent and attentive host. Upon arrival, the check in was easy and Lou had left some essentials (bread, milk, butter, coffee etc) which was a lovely touch. She was easily contactable and responded quickly to messages. The place was lovely and clean, with a large bathroom and a comfortable bed. The living space was light and airy with a well equipped kitchen for any self catering needs. We used the Babraham Park and Ride to get into Cambridge which was just a few minutes' drive from our stay. I will be recommending to friends and family! Thoroughly enjoyable and memorable stay!”
A newly built, small but practical, self contained annex adjoined to the side of the main house by the side and from the ceiling. It has it's own entrance for privacy and a key safe that allows guests to let themselves in. It's an ideal place for a short term stay and offers good value in a very expensive city. It has a small kitchen area with microwave, toaster, mini fridge and kettle. The annex also has a desk work space and a shower.
“I can't fault this property. It's bigger than the pictures, which was a nice surprise. Lovely clean bathroom with no signs of mold at all. Which is difficult with enclosed bathrooms like this. Really soft mattress. Very well heated. I was pleasantly surprised at how equipped the kitchette was. But most importantly as a young woman traveling alone, I felt safe. The second door outside the property locks from the inside. I also bumped into the host, Paul, who was a really nice guy and made me feel at ease. A few people have complained about the occasional noise through the walls. Personally it didn't bother me at all, and reminded me how safe I was being next to a family home. I would recommend this place to anyone. I'd love to come back in summer.”
Built in 1911, Home End is a newly-refurbished Edwardian home in the picturesque village of Fulbourn, just minutes from the historic university city of Cambridge. The space offers you a bright, yet comfortable home from home, with a beautifully-designed open-plan kitchen diner, light and airy bedrooms, a spacious shower and a cosy sitting room. The village has a fantastic butcher's, greengrocer's, three pubs and many scenic country walks. There is free street parking in front of the house.
“We had a lovely stay in this thoughtfully renovated cottage in Fulbourn. The house is in excellent condition, the large kitchen /diner area is very impressive and overall the house was a pleasure to stay in. The host provided clear instructions for check-in. The house was warm despite visiting in darkest December. We'd definitely stay again when in the area!”
