Holiday rentals with a fireplace in Charente

This is a beautiful place to stay on the banks of the Charente which we enjoyed from the canoe but just loved seeing it flowing along edging the grounds. We came on the train which is a very easy journey from Paris to Jarnac. It is then less than an hours walk along the cycle path or quicker along the very quiet road. The market in Jarnac is excellent and there’s some nice cafes and bars. In Bourg Charente itself the bar tabac sells morning baguette and croissants, especially good to put an order in the day before. Also in the village La Ribaudiere restaurant was absolutely amazing and an experience not to be missed. So this is a great place to stay if you are car free like us but bicycles really help too especially with direct access to the 400 km path La Flow Velo. Lots of fun! Thanks to Andrea and Dominic.

A beautiful, well equipped little gîte, with everything you could possibly need. The garden is so peaceful, and within a few minutes drive of les lacs de Haute Charente, which are ideal for dog walking. We loved meeting Harry the resident dog. Thank you to Anneguus and Dirk, for being so welcoming. I hope to return some day.

Staying at the Moulin de Bord is like going back in time, where the water once sang under stone wheels. Nestled in a green setting, this old mill full of history now offers an enchanted break, away from the hustle and bustle of the world. The murmur of the Bandiat cradles days and nights, and each stone seems to tell the memories of a peaceful past. The setting is of rare beauty, authentic and refreshing. The calm is deep, almost sacred. You breathe nature, you'll find peace. As for Sabrina, the host, she embodies generosity and sweetness. Her warm and thoughtful welcome gives this already magical place an even brighter soul.

Wedding weekend at Château de Brie (if you are sightseeing in the area, this beautiful estate is worth visiting) we enjoyed our few hours of rest in Jeannette's very peaceful little house. We couldn't meet but we had very good exchanges with Jeannette to prepare for our arrival.

Great place with a lot of interesting features like the lighting. Very nice bathrooms and showers with plenty of towels. Very clean and comfortable place. The drier does not function very well, but overall great place to stay.

A great weekend of rest and sharing in this little corner of paradise! The environment is heavenly, and the accommodation is really lovely!

We really liked Thomas’ place. The pool is much better than the photos look and the pool was very clean. A great little seating area under a canopy and plenty of sun loungers. Rarely used by anyone else! Good location for road cycling (road cyclists from UK will find the roads undulating and open). Really nice peaceful setting. Really quiet. WiFi good enough to do video calls to work from the house.

It went very well. Super nice to have been able to enjoy the garden with our dog. The accommodation was perfect for us👌, spacious, clean and convenient with beautiful surrounding countryside! We would unreservedly recommend this listing.

This house has been renovated with great care, up to the finishes which are properly impeccable. Decoration made with a very safe taste, impeccable amenities, quasi-professional bedding, everything is provided for a stay without the slightest hiccup. Everything is new and good quality Same for outdoors. Everything is clean, maintained, functional, well-arranged. Stunning pool with beach. The icing on the cake, this almost-sexagenarian English couple (physically only) is simply adorable. As for the value for money, it's unbeatable. A real discovery. I didn't think it was possible with an owner in the walls. Just exceptional!! I'll be back by the end of this year. It's a no-brainer. PS I've traveled a lot, especially through airbnb. I've never experienced this until now.

Absolutely loved staying here! Anthony is friendly and welcoming, check in was easy and the place had everything we needed. Such a lovely location within walking distance to everything. Just bring your muscles if you bring lots of luggage - there’s a stunning wooden spiral staircase to keep you fit! Thank you SO much Anthony!

Had a wonderful stay, Nick and his wife are great hosts, with a wonderful 15th century building in which we stayed. Easy to walk into confolens, from apartment We hired a car, in which we was able to explore all surrounding areas, also supermarkets within 3 mins drive Great out door space, with seating area, plus garden to explore with chickens Thanks for a pleasant stay and your information on the area Would definitely book again 🙂

Lovely stay with a spacious apartment. Nice and quiet even when you are less than 1km from busy areas. The host was very helpful and friendly and gave us information about different areas around France as we were travelling around for a week. Nice comfortable, clean bed.

This is a very well equipped villa. The location surrounding was a concern but we slept in late every morning so noise was not an issue. Very secure and not overlooked.

The setting is beautiful, surrounded by vineyards and sunflowers. The local town is 10 mins away, with a market. The property is a lovely old farmhouse, with lots of space and nice furniture, comfortable beds and a refreshing pool. Valerie made us feel very welcomed. A great place to unwind.

We had a lovely stay, the villa was in a beautiful setting and had lovely grounds and pool. It was well equipped with two kitchens, a bbq and slept 12 comfortably. Would definitely recommend to others and return back!

Beautiful location, wonderful accommodations

Excellent stay with friends in this quiet house with beautiful spaces, nice tranquility and pleasant pool on this beautiful weekend. Overall we had a nice stay! The only downside is the lack of a 3rd toilet - which for 12 people is useful (but we were warned before our arrival, and we know it was exceptional).

We had a fantastic birthday weekend with our friends at Guillaume's. The place is peaceful and secluded, the house is beautiful and spacious and the pool was a big hit. Guillaume is very considerate and explained everything to us to fully enjoy the stay!
