Nestled in the countryside just outside York, 'The Kennel' is a relaxing and peaceful retreat. This small but perfectly formed self-contained annex is set in three acres of newly planted woodland in which you can often see the Barn, Tawny and Little Owls visiting to be fed from the feeding posts, garden, small orchard, wildlife pond and apiary housing up to 8 beehives which provide us with some delicious honey. To the rear of the property is a Whisky and Gin Distillery.

There are public footpaths to explore from the site as well as cycle routes taking you to nearby villages.

We live in the Old School at Whixley. A converted Victorian School House in a pretty, quiet, Yorkshire village, just off the A59 between Harrogate and York. Other cities and towns that are very close are Wetherby, Boroughbridge, Leeds and Ripon. The Annex is a detached, self contained, well-equipped studio flat, giving guests flexibility, freedom and privacy.

5 miles from York City Centre in the traditional English village of Poppleton, Black Dyke Hideaway is ideally situated to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Locally the village boasts a several traditional local pubs, country and river walks, and easy access to York City Centre via train and bus and cycle routes.

What once was a Wesleyan Chapel attached to a Church and The Old Manse, this unique place has been lovingly restored and renovated recently by ourselves. We have carefully maintained some original features whilst introducing some modern creature comforts including free guest WiFi.
